Used for 6 months, spend $8,000, and DID NOT GET A SINGLE CLICK OR LEAD. Tried to cancel after being automatically resubscribing and they would not let me cancel. They did not send an email or notification about the renewal. These guys are a scam. **Recommendations to others considering SourceForge:** Try Capterra **What problems is SourceForge solving and how is that benefiting you?** ZERO - Use Capterra **Official Response from Logan Abbott:** > Hello, we investigated this and found that your campaign did not have a tracking link for the entire period, even after our campaign management asked you to provide one several times. Your account had a total of 564 clicks. As far as leads go, without a tracking link you cannot know, and that is likely why you have the impression that there were zero. We have already discussed this privately over email, but for those who are considering this please always use a tracking link when doing digital marketing. You also did not get a single user review, even though our packages offer many tools to help you get user reviews. If you don't take advantage of what we offer, you may not see optimal results. ### 2. Do not recommend for Commercial Software Lead Generation (NOT as good as Capterra) **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Chris P. | Vice President, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019 **What do you like best about SourceForge?** Easy to use interface, minor exposure to folks looking for EDI Software. Email communication with reps was satisfactory. **What do you dislike about SourceForge?** $325 for the listing, and you get locked in if you forget to cancel within 10 days before the next billing period. We got 1-3 clicks a month for $325 compared to the 20-30 we would get from Capterra for the same price. Also, it defaults to Open Source software 1st unless you select the Commercial Tab... So its really only good for Open Source leads. **Recommendations to others considering SourceForge:** Use Capterra instead. **What problems is SourceForge solving and how is that benefiting you?** Couldn't cancel soon enough, too expensive, too little ROI. No real benefits. **Official Response from Logan Abbott:** > Hi Chris- sorry about the experience you had. A lot has changed since you last used our service, including a huge influx of traffic to the EDI category. You'd be looking at 50 to 100 times the amount of clicks you used to get, and much higher quality. We can also help you generate reviews from your customers now as well. We have started using GitHub for our version control and its a lot better than SourceForge. **What problems is SourceForge solving and how is that benefiting you?** Version Control ### 4. It is an admirable goal. SourceForge was important to the open source movement for a long time, and hosted thousands of repositories for open source software. SourceForge holds nostalgic value for those users who hosted software on the site, found useful software, and read documentation. **What do you dislike about SourceForge?** The open source community has moved on. It is very rare for a new project to find itself on SourceForge with better modern alternatives like GitHub, BitBucket, and GitLab getting far more traffic. Everything about SourceForge feels dated now. The user interface hasn't had any significant improvement in many years, and it shows. A significant portion of the projects hosted there are out of date, or no longer supported. There are installers for software with malware included. SourceForge was a great resource once, but we have all moved on to greener pastures at this point. **Recommendations to others considering SourceForge:** SourceForge is no longer relevant. It is time to move on to a more modern solution like GitHub, BitBucket, or a private version control hosting solution. **What problems is SourceForge solving and how is that benefiting you?** At this point, I am not using SourceForge for any projects. Everything open source is on GitHub, and proprietary code is hosted on private version control hosting.
