Ability to make podcasts with Spotify songs. Simple use. Inspiration track generator. Option to collaborate. **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** Design and interface feel like a toy. The samples and stems available on the free plan aren't great. Only available to use in browser. **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** I first got into Soundtrap to use it's capability to integrate with Anchor (RIP) as I wanted to create a radio style podcast to fulfill my childhood dreams of being a college radio DJ or MTV VJ. It inspired me to start making rudimentary tracks to put under notebooks of lyrics I have been creating - also since childhood. So, I had needed to create a podcast and then I wanted to make simple songs and it did that. ### 2. The option to add MIDI, multiple other modes of sounds etc. make it super useful. The fact that multiple collaborators can work on the same track remotely is the best feature for me **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** Soundtrap does not allow tracks to be edited at a microsecond level. Thus, there is often a very minute milisecond lag between tracks which cannot be easily fixed yb zooming into the tracks. This option exists in Audacity and other DAWs **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helps to easily edit and mix my music tracks, and allows my peers to work on the same track online, which saves a lot of time ### 4. The clean design and simple interface get rid of all the bulky side panels you often see in other audio editing programs. They also have a helpful support team where you can chat live with an agent when you're stumped. **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** I have had issues with Soundtrap using a lot of memory on my internet web browser. Sometimes it takes a long time to load, save, and merge tracks, resulting in the audio disappearing altogether. Luckily, the previous versions feature allows you to go back to a previously saved version before all was lost. **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** Editing for a podcast with two remote voices can be challenging, but Soundtrap has made it easy for us to stack two separate tracks and view the sound waves easily. Splitting, muting, and merging are the most useful tools available to me with Soundtrap. ### 5. Not a DAW. Huge library of loops. Some decent virtual instrument options. Lightweight. **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** 22,000+ loops and absolutely NO way to manage, sort, or organize them. If you favorite a loop, 99% of the time, it doesn't save and is unfavorited once you exit, despite them touting this [broken] 'feature' in their ads. A large majority of the loops are useless. No mixing or mastering--Soundtrap mixes your tracks automatically upon saving and exiting a project. You have NO control over the mix & the team will not say what the feature does or how it works. Virtual instruments, while decent for what it is, are still lacking overall. No support for third-party plugins/VSTs. Trying to (re)arrange tracks is a PITA--especially on mobile (might as well not even try tbh). Very limited number of fx. Playback is extremely frustrating. Controls need an overhaul. Barely any track editing features. **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. It caused more problems than it solved and generally turned into one big headache and time sink most of the time. Way more trouble than it's worth. ### 6. The MIDI functions allow students to connect instruments directly to it and see their music come to life. **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** For younger grades - this application is not as user-friendly. The functions are limited to the beat creator if you work with students younger than 3rd grade. Different levels of this application would allow for more ages to access it. **Recommendations to others considering Soundtrap:** I would encourage educators who are considering using Soundtrap to think about the age of their students before they purchase use of the product. It may be better used for secondary students. **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** My students are significantly more creative when using technology to create music. 21st-century learners need more access to ways they can learn using technology, and this application allows students to think outside the box! ### 10. STAY AWAY! They are fake, but they are entertaining **What do you dislike about Soundtrap?** Absolutely terrible across all levels. I have a paid Storyteller subscription to remotely record podcasts, unfortunately, soundtrap is not designed to do such function effectively and calls drop more often than not. That would be a problem in itself, however, the larger problem is that when the call resume, and after the record button is pressed again, the guest voice will no longer be recorded! I lost a podcast with a high profile person and after more than 7 hours of talking to their support, I got a note saying, this is frustrating but working as designed, deal with it. there are other issues, such as the premium features are not turn on and you will need to request for them (I'm still waiting for mine to be turn on). If you manage a large file, like 60+ minutes of AUdio, you won't be able to open and edit often, you can try a different browser and some work and others don't but it's painful. Customer service is a joke. No empathy, no accountability, no resolution, not even a goodwill gesture. There are other issues, but nothing compares to losing your work, so I won't bother. Don't waste your time, if you don't want to take my word for it just open an account and cancel before 30 days, but please do not record critical materials as you can lose them and they will wash their hands. **Recommendations to others considering Soundtrap:** Run away **What problems is Soundtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?** I wanted to record a remote podcast, instead, I got a recording of myself and no guest. ### 11. The ability to collaborate with others and produce a very nice piece of music and also its great interface with control buttons to tune in the sound to the desired mode.
