**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

Solidworks has easy UI/UX. Easy access to different drawing tools (sketch) and features. Most helpful are the different annotations in between making sketches. It easily competes with the other CAD software in market on the basis of easy use and flexibility.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Parametric design is not so valuable for Solidworks. Moreover, making sketches through equations is also not easy, and there are fewer options. There are only a few options for A-class surfacing as well. Keyshot is also not given with Solidworks.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidworks is helping in 3D CAD design and solving simple analyses of equipment and different structures. Also, it helps us minimise the cost of purchasing different software like ANSYS for analysis.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

It is beneficial because its widely used in almost every industrial field, including mechanical, electrical, 3D modeling. Even though the competitors are widely used, Solidworks also have a great database of standard elements already drawn.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Maybe the only thing that I dislike is the computer requirements. Having a powerful workstation is necessary to take advantage of this software correctly. That is a barrier for a student.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us to teach our students mechanical design, electrical routing, prototyping, 3D printing. Besides that, our students also use it for Computer Aided Manufacturing. The capacity to simulate the machining operations is beneficial.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

I love the easiness to bring my ideas into a physical form using this tool. The freedom style to use the shapes and extrude them into a 3d design. I have used many CAD softwares but SOLIDWORKS is one of the most powerful

This tool isn't available ina browser based format which is disappointing because you have to use the PDM vault designed for bigger organizations. A base version online would help to create simpler designs

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used SOLIDWORKS to create 3D models for my designs for oil and gas equipment. I could create 2d drawings for manufacturers using the tool and fabricate the components.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

How Straight forward and simple it is and also how easy it is to find any help online if ever needed. Easy to find tools in the app through the search bar and it shows where it's located.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Sometimes it may feel that the software/app is a little outdated but that's mostly based upon the looks of the software and not the function of the program, other than that I haven't experienced any other problems.

Easy to design and find the functions needed to either 3-D print or get the DXF file for any laser cutting needs. Straightforward to designing/assembling or drawing any parts needed.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

We can easily create 3d drawing and their assembly in real 3d graphics and can see all side views and it helps to create the manufacturing product in 3d style and help to achieve the all goals and get the same desired product as per client drawings. We can create multiple parts and then assemble all of them at same place and check whether all things are correct or not and then change according to our needs.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Sometimes it hangs while making hole or slot at large scale and sometimes at small command also it hangs and crashes without saving the drawing the most worst part and thread option is also not gud as it applies lower thread to any type of hole inside changing it.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All company and client drawings are drawn on solidworks software and help to create multiple assemblies and check all things are placed at same place where we want without any overlap and without any disturbance. So all company products like l bench, foomhood, syringe carrier etc we can make parts and assemble them and easy to cross check all things before cutting and bending of that product.

It's like, a drafting software that's MEANT for 3D, but CAN do 2D. There's a lot more to it than that, but other drafters will understand this.

Price. It costs an arm & a leg & you have to buy a subscription.

I used solidworks while i was working with my college racing team. It was easy to use software. Newcomers like me were able to easily understand software and use it. Material properties selection is very beneficial, as you can get mass of part by using this. It is also beneficial in manufacturing industry.

Solidworks is a very thorough software that allows people to design and CAD models that can be used for laser cutting or 3-D Printing. It is very comprehensive but not too detailed.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Sometimes there are errors that pop up or certain tools that don't work like how they should be working, which can make the workflow very frustrating. This is especially bad when doing projects.

It is solving the issue of having a robust CAD software. I do a lot of prototyping of engineering designs, most of which use Solidworks to model parts, so it is a vital part of my work.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

Solidworks provides us with the ease of creating 3D models and also helps in drafting the 2D drawing sheet as per the model. Solidworks also provides us with the parametric modelling features which helps us to bring changes to the 3D CAD model as per our convenience.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Some of the features which Solidworks can improve is implementing automatic constraints to the sketch and it can also add an option in the assembly feature to directly show whether the parts have been locked or proper constraints have been put in place.

Solidworks helps us create 3D models and also helps us to bring changes to the 3D CAD model without affecting the entire CAD file by using the Parametric modelling feature.

I love creating 3D objects of my Mechanical part designs. There are lots of features I like, especially the cutaway feature, making the objects transparent to look inside the designs.

based on the system that you are using, the user experience could be slow, as Solidworks is a very heavy and powerful tool. It runs better on desktops compared to laptops

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

SOLIDWORKS is  used by the engineering department to create solid models of products, parts, and assembly drawings that are later generated from solid models. Both 3D models and 2D drawings are used by other departments and may be shared with external suppliers. In certain situations, 3D models are analyzed using SOLIDWORKS add-ons such as simulation.
It's a separately purchased product, but I'd like to talk about Solidworks Model Based Design (MBD), which is a relatively hot topic, especially when it comes to collaborative design. The 
  3D PMI Comparison Tool performs a more thorough analysis of reference dimensions to identify more similarity scenarios based on geometry. 
 Also check annotations, reference dimensions, and geometric tolerances. 
 For assemblies and parts, annotations appear in subfolders under the annotations folder in the Feature Manager design tree.  From the 
 folder, you can reorder the annotations and highlight them in the graphic area. When you select an annotation in the Feature Manager design tree, it is highlighted in the graphic area. The 
 annotations are essential to the success of MBD, and these new features provide excellent support for implementing MBD practices.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Main problem i face while using solid works 2021 premium edition is converting X_T files or STEP files from older version solid works.
Some time it is unable to find the solid body instead shows surfaces.
Formatting the data from UG & Catia is challenging.
Bill of material is does give full specification of each part of the assembly.
CAM feature is somewhat like basic .

Solidworks CAM features Tolerance Based machining does not give the best output.
Material choice is limited.
Simulation for mold flow is inaccurate need lot of improvrment.

The accurate measurement and detail design features of solidworks is best in the industry. 
I have used it for my product design concepts and got the best results.

you need to draw every curve and surface very precisely or delicately which I sometimes find very slow process as compared to some mesh manipulating 3d softwares.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

Solidworks gives you the ability to create 3d designs to a very high specification. It has a number of standard 3d tools as well as a number of surfacing options to create freeform parts. I also love the different rotational views and the fact that you can set up many views. The best tool I like is the surfacing and direct editing. To go through your design tree is also super easy so if you have problems and need to make corrections or edit the design intent its very handy.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

It falls down when trying to create highly sculpted shapes. It isn't great at converting or adapting highly sculpted files which is a common need in my profession. Large Stl files can be impossible to work with can take an incredible amount of computer power.

**Recommendations to others considering SOLIDWORKS:**

This is by far the easiest 3d software I have used. It is accurate and gives you the ability to create incredible products that you design. This is an essential tool for any designer or engineer. The direct editing tools are the best being able to push and pull surfaces which can come in handy when needing to go back and edit. Other surfacing tool like extending surfaces and the ruled edge tool also can be very powerful.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is probably the easiest 3d software I have ever used in terms of functionality, and due to the wide variety of tools, you can create free-form products easily. I also love that you can export technical design drawings quickly. We use solidworks to quickly model up products so we can get them 3d printed. The exporting formats allow easy rapid prototyping.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

Simplicity of User interface anyone can use Solid Works without training, one 4 to 5 hours of training required to understand upto 70% software basics. I am using Solid Works for 3D modelling and 2D detailing of solid components used in heavy equipment engineering. Also Inbuilt standard sizes of L angels and extruded bars are moreover helpful in Solidworks. 360degrees of viewing angles. Ability to view and create 2D and 3D file. Can export 3D pdf as well. Import almost all types of cad files. CAD library given in Solidworks is really helpful for designers.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

Solidworks is useful for sheet metal parts and solid geometry designing, but using it for plastic components is sometimes hectic for me it doesn't give freedom like catia for 3d modelling of plastic components this i dislikes.

**Recommendations to others considering SOLIDWORKS:**

Go for it if you have daily creating 3D and 2D. 
Used for simulation also. Creat seamless 3D and 2D files. Import and export almost maximum type of cad files. Useful for simulation & CAE also used for  piping routing as well.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier time there is no 3D software available for modelling in my company so I used to use AutoCad 2D and it was very time taking process to draw FV, and projection view of components by measuring and by imagination. But now this huge problem solve with Solid works as I am directly Modelling 3D components and by that 2D drawings to time saves and simple as well. Also automatic dimension is beneficial for me. GD&T dimension style, tolerances and feature controls are given and can apply very impressively in Solidworks 2D Detailing.

I used it to design air handling units and generate drawings of it and the same drawings were use in cnc for fabrication.

**What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?**

- The way basic processes are laid out to generate a CAD model is very simplistic but all-inclusive, too.
- Works flawlessly for most parts and complex assemblies without legging or errors. (Error handling have improvised a lot as compared to the version of SolidWorks couple of years back)

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

- While working with very large CAD assemblies that have more than 500 parts inside, it crashes many times while exiting the Edit Part command from a Large assembly environment.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- We mainly develop small to medium scale products in SolidWorks, but we also do have some extensive products that contain more than 500-800 fasteners apart from the other items in the same 
assembly.
- We also do production drawings inside the SolidWorks drawing environment.
- We also do some fundamental Static Stress-Strain analysis in SolidWorks.

It have every tools that makes your work easily and quickly I am using this software from past six years and it have all the ability to design they you are want to design you can also do motion study that looks great.

I think if your laptop ram is incompatible with the software then it may be creating some hang issue otherwise it works very smoothly without any interfere you must use it for your design purpose.

I strongly recommend many of my friends and also my college professors to teach this software in their curriculum .
According me this is the world's best and easiest software .

Complications and toughness of a structure can easily solve with the help this software as i said that you can also performed motion study as well as stimulation that must be very helpful in engineering aspects.

It is easy to use, logically planned enough to learn quickly and has tons of resources if all that isn't enough. It has excellent capabilities for all of your drafting needs from a new bottom-up design to product modifications.

Sometimes it can be too smart for it's own good. It is designed to fit 95% of cases and scenarios, so if you are trying to do something that it isn't perfectly attuned to (such a design feature being unique), trying to find a way to do it can be tricky. There will be a way to do it; you just have to find it.

Be patient and use the resources available. Just because you think you know how to make something work does not mean you are doing it the best or most efficient way.

I'd recommend watching videos, tutorials, and then download a trial and try using it first for yourself before purchasing a license. Try to understand differences (advantages and disadvantages) between standard, professional, and premium versions.  We had to buy premium for advanced flattening, which is a substantial price difference, but I think we could have solved our flattening problems with Rhinoceros 3D or physical mock-ups. Plus, we do not use many features that come with the premium version.
Finally, I would recommend looking at Fusion 360: It has features, but it might cover your needs better with a smaller budget. Solidworks is not the most expensive in the industry, but there are cheaper solutions.

As a less commonly used software, the developers have equipped us with training tools and options for purchase options. I started as a student and when on for the premium account with my employer. It enables you to create multiple prototypes and run several simulations simultaneously.

While 3D modelling is its best feature, I find electrical schematics very difficult to use. Tutorials to guide through that will be useful, also to provide a detailed analysis.

This is one of the best professional 2D and 3D mechanical design software out there today, it greatly facilitates the design of 3D objects in a precise way, implementing a scale that goes from millimeters to inches, one of my favorite functions is simulation. of fluids as well as being able to implement mathematical equations to generate an extruded operation or the number of instances of a matrix.

Today used by many companies, in my experience, it presents itself as the most popular 3D modeling software together with Rhinoceros. Easy to learn, despite its power, it is also able to import and export different types of geometries in a large variety of three-dimensional formats.

While being very useful as it is available, the inbuilt image rendering isn't the best, just like with Rhinoceros.

One of my personal favorite things about the software is that they put a LOT of effort into maintaining a very efficient user experience.  SOLIDWORKS has been a leader when it comes to putting commands as close as possible to your cursor.  The vast majority of your commands are accessible through a mouse gesture, a right-mouse click, or a keyboard shortcut.  This puts the user's attention on the modeling screen and away from distracting command menus.  Even when a command menu is in use, there is often considerable effort to make the design of those menus as unobtrustive as possibe.

**What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?**

The transition towards cloud-based solutions on the SOLIDWORKS platform has been long in the tooth and has changed a lot over the years.  In some ways, they're an early adopter, and yet it's taken such a long and convoluted path to get to the current state that it's hard to feel confident that the platform won't go through more radical changes.  The risk of SW evolving into a SAAS model with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is real, if hard to define or justify.

**Recommendations to others considering SOLIDWORKS:**

The one and only thing worth considering is the state of cloud-based CAD.  I personally think there is still value to the desktop environment (and locally stored servers instead of company data being put on cloud platforms), but that landscape is rapidly changing.

**What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary benefit is its utility as a modeling/CAD package.  Without digging into the cloud-based SAAS packages, it's clearly the best-in-class when it comes to model power per dollar.  The primary benefit of this package over others is its utility:  it is easy to learn, easy to use, and cost-effective compared to  packages that might be considered to have "better" surface modeling capabilities.  The direct results are a very good market share for the platform (which means it's easy to find talent that uses it) and in the rare case that you find talent that hasn't used the platform it will be very easy to train.

The search function is beneficial when coming from another CAD package. I often know what I want to do, but I don't necessarily know where the button is located in SolidWorks.

It is not as robust as some other CAD packages I have used. There are small things here and there that I find annoying. I have gotten used to different packages that this one does not have. For example, when I am inserting a part into an assembly, I either have to keep clicking into the menu to place more of the same part, or else I have to copy and paste the part. Other programs I have used let you put as many as you want until you finish. Also, I have yet to find the hotkey to allow me to repeat the last command without having to use the mouse and track all over to the previous command.

Solidworks has a very nice and easy interface to use the software . In my opinion it is the best option for learning cad for beginners. It does not require much hardware for your PC and it has a student licensing price very low.

The Solidworks software is well optimized. I haven't had any issues with lock-ups or crashes. It has a great variety of 3D modeling features in an easy-to-access and user-friendly toolbar. The ergonomics of the toolbar makes sense for the traditional process flow of creating a part starting from the 2D sketch up to extrusion or cutting, etc.

The thing I dislike most about Solidworks is the cost. I began using it on a free students license during college; however, the price to continue using has forced me to look for alternatives. The situation has improved, with Solidworks providing a $99 yearly subscription for students & makers, but that may not apply to many current users.

Look at other products and evaluate the benefits of each very heavily. Mapkeys i Creo are a huge time saver. Solidworks crashes all the time. The kernal is single threaded and can't utilize multi threaded CPU's. Other parts of SW use multi threading but the core product is horrible in rendering basic geometry on screen in model or drawing form.
