What do you like best about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

What do you like best about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

I have been using this software for about 3 years, and personally, SIEM from Solarwinds has a wide variety of positive things, which differentiates it from other similar products. One of those differences is the versatility of working with different network protocols, also the security it provides and the convenience of working with large files. What do you dislike about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

I think that SolarWinds SIEM has complied with all the features it offers as a product, however, there are small details that I would like SolarWinds to improve, such as the stability of the user interface, because it freezes when large files are loaded. What do you like best about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

Its web administrator panel and plugins are my favorite aspect from this software and the reason is obvious, with these aspects, this software can support multiple network protocols that work very well with large files and with several formats as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

The UI is a little bit outdated and sometimes it's unresponsive, freezes and crashes suddenly while you're uploading files and also its price, it's not cheap but expensive enough to have these issues but this software is a good one. Use this software wisely even though you have previous experience with similar products, this could be a leverage if you have enough experience on similar softwares. Solarwinds LEM, has help us a lot to compliance with our company controls. Also, is very easy get information from the reports that come with the tool. We can create custom reports depending the information and platforms that we are needing in the moment.

The initial configuration is not to easy and you need to understand what your company need. So you need to do a careful plan and look for expert help from solarwinds engineers. What do you like best about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

It has connectors that allows you to get alerts that are proprietary to certain types of equipment and vendors. Great Reporting and alerts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SolarWinds Security Event Manager?

Building the filters is pretty tough. We get so many alerts that it is hard to deal with. It would be nice if the filter building would be a little easier. We are a small department and it is hard to be an expert at everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SolarWinds Security Event Manager:

It is very powerful and will give you a lot of info. It takes a lot to tune it so you won't get so many alerts that you won't be able to see the important ones. For me the, filter building for alerts is a little cumbersome. You should get some training to learn it. Not completely intuitive, and somewhat difficult to setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SolarWinds Security Event Manager:

We compared this to Splunk and QRadar. Splunk is a good product, but is based on size of logs--not number of devices monitored. This makes LEM attractive--although not as robust. And Solarwinds was great about demo'ing it and helping us in initial setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

LEM allows us to monitor a variety of servers, from Windows and Linux, and view variances and anomalies in events. It's especially effective for excessive login attempts (AD, firewall). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
