What do you like best?

The SolarWinds Remote Management & Monitoring software package offers us a wide assortment of tools at our disposal while not being tied down to one PC. We are free to log in to the interface anywhere their is an internet connection. Installation of the package can be pushed out to all machines connected to the domain via group policies. The MSP Institute offers work at your own pace training for more than just the product. Need marketing help, how about sales help? The MSP Institute has it. It has proven to be a valuable training tool for management and our technicians. The support we receive from our account rep is top notch. I highly recommend the SolarWinds products and I am impressed by the expertise of their staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

While several of the products are have the same interface, not all do. Some of the products are stand alone and you have to log into different areas to gain access. It would be nice to have all the products integrated and data shared between the different products. The downside to using SolarWinds Remote Management & Monitoring software is that there can be a bit of a learning curve to the figuring out all the ins and outs of the packages with in the software. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The SolarWinds Remote Monitoring & Management products help us to ensure product uniforminty across all workstations and servers. Giving us the automation of checking on backups, patch installation of not only Microsoft product but a wide list of other programs. Anti-virus software is updated and scans ran with out any use input. Generated reports keep our staff in loop with the CURRENT status of all the computers we support. What do you like best?

The ease of use, full functionality, reliability and excellent support. Solarwinds RMM gives users a full suite of tools with a single installable file. Unlike standard tools, you don't have to install several different executables to be able to have fully protected end points. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The reporting piece could use some improvement. The reporting is acceptable, but not amazing. With how great the software as a whole is, we were let down on the reporting side. It could use more end users friendly, customer facing report options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

1. Make sure to utilize the technical walkthroughs. Those are free to partners and will show you in a very detailed manner how to use the system.

2. Take advantage of minimum commit deals when you're growing. It has saved us a lot of money in the long run.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Endpoint management. The ability to automate has saved us hours upon hours of work. From a simple installable file, we can then automate every other piece of software that we want or need installed. What do you like best?

Solarwinds MSP RMM has some great features, Take Control (formerly MSP Connect) works wonderfully when it's working and the other tools that the system provides on remote workstations can be key to the success of a particular ticket or interaction with a user. Automation works well for certain tasks and the monitoring system keeps me abreast of potential problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Having come into a Solarwinds deployment that had been setup and configured by someone else with little documentation I found it difficult to see through the system. I.E. the transparency of the system can be difficult to work through, the way filters, rules, service templates and notifications work together can be confusing but do eventually make sense given enough time with a particular deployment. Patch management is another system in Solarwinds MSP RMM that is difficult to understand. It can be hard to determine why a particular patch has failed to install and the documentation on patch management does little to explain what is happening behind the scenes. Do your homework and make sure you understand how all of the pieces fit together when it comes to automation and monitoring. Test test test your policies and solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Simple issues like high CPU, Memory or Disk usage are very easy to monitor and solve. Being able to monitor any service on a particular device is also very easy to do, along with a self-healing action to restart the service should it encounter a problem. There are some benefits we've yet to realize due to customer contracts and current customer expectations. For instance, we could be using N-Central to clean temp files but do not because out longtime customers would need to be "re-trained" in a sense on what to expect with such an automation. What do you like best?

The interface is easy to navigate. Setting up policies is straight forward. The antivirus and web filter are simple and exceptions are easy to make. Upgrading the agent is made simple and creating scripts is made fool proof. (Well, almost) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I have had issues with support. When creating a case, I sometimes have been given KB articles that I either have already seen or have little relevance to my issue. Sometimes this gets frustrating, so I find myself giving the poor intern the task of information gathering. The MSP Anywhere remote access is usually great, however, on some computers it performs slowly. There seems to be no pattern or reason usually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm solving permission, network, email, and many other problems. Coming from a place where fixing issues meant driving to each location, the tools provided by Remote Monitoring and Management have made my job much easier and more efficient. Finding problem hard drives before the array fails has saved a lot of headaches. Finding layer 2 and 3 addresses of devices has made troubleshooting network issues much simpler. What do you like best?

Remote Monitoring and the MSP portal is phenomenal, not only does it allow us to easily monitor our clients health, as well as patching, power state for UPS's and a myriad of other things, it has a clear and easy to read environment and makes our jobs much easier. The Management portal allows us to easily manage tickets, assigning technicians where they need to be and adds a degree of professionalism to our business that other IT providers don't have. What do you like best?

The expierence was very straight forward very easy to use. If we ran into any issues Solarwinds support was always available to assist with any issues we were having. All and all I would defiantly recommend this product to other clients. We also like the many configured checks that can be added to any clients systems. This allows us to stay on top of all of the issues that can arise with failing harddrive or possible trojans that can be allowed in a user network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The only thing i dislike is the structure that is currrently implemented/in place. However from research and talking to our account manager we have been assured that their is a road map in place that future updates/ fixes will be implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I currently have no recommendations for Solarwinds. However, if that ever changes i will be more then happy to contact our account manager to discuss any issues that arrive. What do you like best?

The RMM product is by the best MSP platform I have used. It has the pieces I need for my customers and they are always looking for ways to improve. They not only improve the existing offerings, but they also innovate and add new products continually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?

Its a easy to setup and easy to use system, It is able to monitor and manage workstations and servers and I use it everywork day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

At times it is slow or it has stale information but 9 times out of 10 it works great. The only other issue is when the devices are not checking into the dashboard itself even though it reads as they are. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We have only been using Solarwinds for 4 months and are very impressed with our sales rep. Amanda goes above and beyond to assist us.

We also like that we can have one vendor for multiple services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

We have NOT been impressed with "Sales Engineers". We have had many issues with rollouts and configuration issues; the sales engineers many times had old documentation and conflicting resolution paths. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

What do you like best?

The consolidation of reporting on several different SW products (Backup, system info, etc.) from one pane has become invaluable. I hope that the reporting among the SW ecosystem continues this trend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some of the features (such as the automation manager) are unecessarily hidden in menus.

The only negative experience we have had is that some of the Engineers that have been on calls with us did not know what they are doing and we had to wait 3 or 4 days to get it fixed. There is not enough transparency with the partners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
