## SolarWinds Observability Reviews
 ### 1. Clear, Practical Dashboard That Simplifies Database Monitoring Across Systems

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay V. | software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

What I like most about the SolarWinds database is how clearly it shows what is happening inside the database without making things confusing. Even if you are not a database expert, you can still understand where the problem is coming from. The dashboard feels clean and practical, not overloaded with unnecessary information. It saves a lot of time because you don't have to dig through logs or run multiple queries just to understand performance issues. Slow queries, high CPU usage, or memory problems are highlighted in a very straightforward way. This makes daily monitoring less stressful. Another good thing is how it works well with different databases. Whether it is SQL Server, MySQL, or another database, everything can be monitored from one place. This is very helpful when you manage multiple systems.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

One thing I don't like much is that the setup can feel heavy at the beginning. It takes some time to configure everything properly, especially if the environment is large. For new users the first few days can feel overwhelming. The pricing can also be a concern. For small teams or companies, it may feel expensive compared to simpler tools. Not everyone needs all the advanced features, but they still come as part of the package. Sometimes the alerts can feel too frequent if they are not tuned well. Without proper configuration, you might review notifications that are always urgent, which can become distracting.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SolarWinds Database mainly solves the problem of not knowing what is wrong when a database slows down or behaves unexpectedly. In many systems, when performance drops, teams waste hours guessing the cause. This tool removes that guesswork. It clearly shows which queries are slow, which resources are being overused, and where bottlenecks are forming. Because of this, troubleshooting becomes faster and more accurate. You don't fix things blindly anymore. This directly benefits day-to-day work because issues are resolved before they affect users, applications stay stable, and downtime is reduced. that improves trust from both customers and internal teams. It also helps with long-term planning. By looking at historical data, you can understand growth trends and prepare for future loads. This avoids sudden crashes or last-minute fixes. It helps reduce stress during incidents because you don't have to panic or guess where the issue is coming from. The data is already there, clearly shown, so decisions feel clearer and more confident. It improves teamwork because developers, DBAs, and operations teams can all look at the same information. This avoids blame games and long discussions about whose system caused the problem. it save a lot of manual effort. Without this tool, people often run scripts, export logs, or check multiple tools. SolarWinds database brings everything into one place, which speeds up daily work. It helps avoid repeated problems. By understanding the real cause of past issues, you can fix them properly instead of applying temporary solutions that break again later. it improve overall application performance. When the datbase run smoothely, the apps depending on it also feel faster and more reliable for end users. It supports better decision-making for upgrades. You can clearly see when hardware, memory, or database tuning is actually needed, instead of upgrading blindly and wasting money. it build confidence with management and the client. When asked about performance or outages. You can show clear data and explanation,s which makes you look prepared and professional.

 ### 12. Network Monitoring Tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

Solarwinds is still, at its core, a network monitoring tool. It does a good job of alerting you when there are issues within your network, and it’s also getting better at indicating when problems might arise in the future.

It also offers a lot of integrations with other parts of IT, which helps reduce investigation time when you’re tracking down the cause of an issue.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Lots of AI. There are a lot of tools included, but they aren’t necessarily what you want or need to set up in your environment.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us the ability to monitor our network and understand what’s happening at any given moment, what has happened in the past, and potentially what may happen next.

 ### 13. Single Place for Monitoring and Troubleshooting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

Single Place for monitoring and troubeshooting

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Dashboards, and reports seems to be very anti user friendly. I find myself annoyed how bad it can be to get a simple dashboard/report made

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I monitor my entire network infrastructure and able to send alerts to service now for my NOC to manage and action on. This leaves our network team out of the trouble calls a lot of the time

 ### 14. Great observability tool for everyone

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy M. | Director of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

it you have all the items able to be monitored it replaces the traditional Orion with less flexibility but all SaaS, and good function.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Its quite powerful if you have AWS or Azure workloads, when you are all SaaS like me and do not have those and are serverless, its far harder to drive ROI.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a SaaS observability platform similar to Data dog, New relic etc. Also something more powerful than pingdom.

 ### 15. Observability that is straight to the point

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James m. | Infrastructure Analyst

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

Solarwinds is not complicated to implement or maintain. It’s easy to learn, and its intuitive console keeps the learning curve manageable.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

It’s not that other software is easy to upgrade, but Solarwinds should find ways to make upgrades simpler and reduce upgrade failures.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basic observability and monitoring give me peace of mind. Being able to glace at your dashboard and see the health of your infrastructure is very assuring.

 ### 16. Great product at affordable price point. Nice integration with other Solarwinds suite tools also.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2021

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

Easy to install.
Fast time to ROI. Have used several other tools in the past that proved to be much more labor intensive to get ROI (Tivoli Netview, HP Openview Suite, Cisco Works)
Like that they are embracing API monitoring for cloud based monitoring (Like Meraki, Juniper/Mist, etc)
I LOVE the integration with ServiceNow for auto ticket creation, assignment and closure. This is a lifesaver for our org and I have a least a dozen alerts setup for this integration.
SAM makes monitoring pretty flexible - monitoring services, listening ports, hardware health, etc. Made OpenManage essentially obsolete for us.
NCM is great tool for network config backups and comparison / change control. Have been using since was stand alone product and while I miss some of the features from then it is still very good (vulnerability management is very nice feature)
Not a big fan of the Device Tracker. We have been using Netdisco for years and I really like it so have never converted. It may be OK but similar to Cacti (which we also run in parallel) it simply does some things better (single pane view of multiple charts all aggregated - possible with performance analysis but more time consuming to create and not as easy to place on NOC dashboard)
I think the Sunburst security event has really placed a much greater focus on security for Solarwinds. They were pretty relaxed before and have done a 180 on this now.
Online training / videos are pretty good. Documentation is also above average.
We use Netflow and having consolidated it away from Lancope has been a nice single pane / vendor advantage. Not best of breed but good enough to not manage 2 products.
IPAM tool is good but not perfect. Massive improvement over any manual excel or similar. Neighbor discovery, auto scanning, history, integration with DHCP and DNS. All very nice.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Reliability is becoming increasing criticism for me.
For example, I monitor several hundred VMware guests through 2 different vCenter servers. I have alert integrations with ServiceNow to auto open and close tickets and this is especially useful for a widely distributed set of hardware monitoring. Catching failed power supplies, drives, fans, batteries using only SAM (vs Dell OpenManage) and being able to auto open, assign and close tickets is brilliant.... When it works right. Too often in last year (really starting around 2024 release) I see faults in vCenter which Solarwinds tells me should be polled once every 12 hours (not customizable BTW) which are multiple days old (weekend) and have not triggered. Doing nothing more than opening the alert that should have triggered this, walking through each of the tabs or even jumping to the final tab and hitting save will instantly trigger the alert! Support has been unhelpful in diagnosing this so I am forced to monitor the monitor more than I should.

I still have gripes about moving subnets in IPAM - it is clunky and slow though a little better in 2025.x

Lastly, Solarwinds is near the top of most annoying sales upsells and renewals for me. There must be enormous pressure on their sales team because the turnover to our account is very high and they are constantly trying to upsell. I basically ignore now for everything except renewals.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Impossible to monitor environment as large and distributed as ours.
Need solution to not only monitor but effectively alerts on specific events (fight event fatigue) and auto ticket/escalate is huge.
NCM backups have saved our bacon many times and having a single pane to do IPAM, SAM, NPM, Netflow, SLA, NCM, etc is a lot of bang for the buck

 ### 17. Observability made easy by solarwinds

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** haribabu v. | Lead Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

unified, full-stack monitoring and management platform designed to provide visibility across modern, distributed IT environments. It represents the evolution of SolarWinds’ traditional monitoring tools (like the legacy Orion platform) into a more integrated, AI-powered ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Except license cost I didn't see anything dislikely.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A single, lightweight agent can often collect metrics, logs, and traces, simplifying deployment compared to older, multi-module systems.

 ### 18. Effortless monitoring of a vast environment from a single, unified platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gajender K. | Senior Specialist, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

SolarWinds Hybrid Cloud Observability (HCO) is like a stop for IT engineers for keeping an eye on everything on environment (like server, backup, storage, network, AP, Sensors, UPS etc) setup—either platform is running on-prem, in the cloud, or somewhere in between. Solarwinds pulls together monitoring for networks, infrastructure, apps, and cloud services into one easy-to-use and manage dashboards. We are currently managing 35K + devices and components under a single monitoring roof. It's becomes way simpler because of flexible licensing and smart alerts, it saves time and cuts down on admin work. If someone doesn't have hand-on experience on scripts and languages then he can easily use the manually features (like alert creation, report, any modification). HCO completely transformation and gives better visibility, on license, issues and keep things running smoothly.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

*here is a limitation from the tool that Dell does not expose much volume information over WMI hence we are unable to monitor the disk operations on the dell servers.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Flexible deployment options—on-premises, cloud, or hybrid
* Flexible Licensing (Combines multiple modules like Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Server & Application Monitor (SAM), Log Analyzer, IP Address Manager (IPAM), and more into a single platform)

 ### 19. Observability usage review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

Instead of juggling separate tools for infrastructure, applications, logs, and user experience, it unifies them into a single platform. That means you can trace an issue from a high-level symptom—like a slow application—all the way down to the root cause, whether it’s a database bottleneck, a misconfigured server or a network delay.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Although it integrates with many tools, users still report friction when connecting to certain third-party systems or vendor-specific platforms

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You don’t waste time jumping between tools
Faster understanding of “what’s actually happening”
Better decision-making with a single source of truth

 ### 20. All Round Monitoring - Out of the box

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

It is a comprehensive solution that covers a wide variety of monitoring requirements. From network devices, to traffic, to servers. Other aspects like storage, web performance, etc.
Secondly, the simplicity of using the product from a user perspective. It does not require you to edit any config files, or keep a track of files to set up and modify your monitoring needs

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Technical support or other resources available do not provide enough information or support for integrations using the SWQL studio. There should be resources available to learn, implement and troubleshoot integration issues.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far we dont have evey feature and capability of HCO being utilized, but the fact that it sits at the center of our ITSM, network, and other systems and provides a wide visibility of the infrastructure.

 ### 39. Robust monitoring with great dashboards and alerts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dulantha W. | Network Administrator, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

I particularly like the clean, customizable dashboards that make it easy to view infrastructure health at a glance. Alerting is well done and versatile, enabling us to detect issues before they affect users. It works well in cloud environments and other SolarWinds solutions, making consolidating monitoring in one place easier. Implementation was relatively easy for the team. We use it daily to monitor servers and services, which has improved our response times. Their customer support is also responsive and helpful when we run into issues.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

The expense can be steep for tiny teams, especially with more modules. Due to so many features and choices, bringing on new users can be challenging. The interface can sometimes seem a bit dated in certain places compared to newer competitor systems.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SolarWinds Observability addresses the challenge of monitoring mixed environments of systems and devices from a single console. Previously, we required various tools for monitoring cloud infrastructure, network, and endpoint management, and it was difficult to have a single pane of glass for health and performance. By consolidating monitoring into one place, it improves our ability to rapidly identify and respond to issues, reduces downtime, and simplifies our operational workflows. This has allowed us to offer more stable services to our users and to spend less time on troubleshooting.

 ### 43. Solarwinds integration with Servicenow

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aadish S. | Sr.developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

We used the integration between SolarWinds and ServiceNow and it was of great help. We had a case for a data center, there each and every alert is important. And it created Incidents in ServiceNow.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

The tool of SolarWinds, is not that fast-working tool, for integrations but the field level configurations handle all of the issues. but the field we configure is trickier and not user friendly to understand.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned earlier, we have been using the integration and every small server or any tool in the data center is down for one second, an alert is triggered in SolarWinds and that trigger and creates an Incident in ServiceNow. That specific incident, is assigned to the groups/user and emails are triggered to an individual and the person or the group of people works on the RCA and has been managed in ServiceNow tool.

 ### 44. Great monitoring product!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinit P. | Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

SolarWinds Observability has been a game changer for our infrastructure monitoring. The most helpful aspect is the unified view it provides across metrics, logs, and traces, which makes troubleshooting and root cause analysis much faster. The customizable dashboards and real-time alerts are easy to configure and keep our teams proactive. Upsides include its scalability, ease of deployment, and clear visibility into both cloud and on-prem environments. It’s helped us reduce downtime and improve performance monitoring significantly.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

The user interface can feel a bit cluttered at times, especially for new users who are still learning their way around. Some of the more advanced features require a steeper learning curve or deeper customization. Integration with certain third-party tools isn't as seamless as we'd like, and pricing can get high as more features and nodes are added. Occasional delays in data sync or alerting have also been noticed during peak usage.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SolarWinds Observability helps us tackle the challenge of managing complex, hybrid IT environments by consolidating monitoring for infrastructure, applications, networks, and cloud services into a single platform. Before, we had to use multiple tools, which made it harder to correlate issues across systems. Now, with unified visibility and cross-domain insights, we can identify performance bottlenecks, spot anomalies quickly, and reduce downtime. It’s improved collaboration across teams, accelerated root cause analysis, and helped us be more proactive rather than reactive in maintaining service health.

 ### 45. Great product for monitoring

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

I'm genuinely impressed with Solarwinds Observability. It's truly been a game changer for how we monitor our entire IT environment. What stands out the most is the unified view it provides. Instead of juggling multiple tools for different aspects of our infrastructure, SO brings everything together seamlessly. We can monitor apps, infrastructure, networks, and logs all from a single pane of glass.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

Despite the wide range and extent of data SO collects and the depth of insights it can offer, navigating the platform can feel like wading in molasses. The Dashboards often suffer from noticeable loading times and refreshing delays. What you would think would be quick, ie. insightful glances at critical metrics, often turns into a test of patience.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SO solves a wide range of problems that our IT teams face in managing modern, complex IT environments. It provides a comprehensive, intelligent and unified approach to managing our complex systems.

 ### 49. All-in-One Monitoring Made Easy with SolarWinds

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

What I like best about SolarWinds Observability is the unified view it offers across infrastructure, applications, and logs — all from a single dashboard. It's incredibly helpful to correlate metrics, traces, and logs for root cause analysis, especially in hybrid environments. The customizable dashboards are intuitive, and the AIOps features help reduce alert noise, making it easier to focus on real issues. It's a huge time-saver for monitoring complex systems.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

The initial setup and configuration can be overwhelming, especially for teams new to observability tools. Some documentation is outdated or unclear, and onboarding large environments requires time and effort. Also, pricing can escalate quickly as more nodes or features are added. Lastly, customer support response times could be improved.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use SolarWinds Observability to monitor app performance and server health. It helps us trace bottlenecks in code, monitor infrastructure metrics, and reduce troubleshooting time by correlating everything in one place.

 ### 50. Good product for legacy environment, but lacking modern features

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert P. | Monitoring & Observability Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SolarWinds Observability?**

I like the new per-Node cost model. It is also a very mature product with good coverage of historical / on-prem environments. The flexibility of alerting is great too. The product is easy to use with a lot of documentation available. Users also find it easy to use. It's easy to ingegrate due to on-prem database. Implementation is relatively easy too.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds Observability?**

We have issues with stability and reliability of the product sometimes. Also it's still far behind competition when it comes to Cloud and containter based monitoring, AI features and log monitoring. Customer support is not great, with support reps not looking into root causes and just trying to clear or reinstall things.

**What problems is SolarWinds Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SolarWindes provide in-depth monitoring of on-prem environments, servers, network devices etc. It allows us to pick up issues quickly and the product is easy to use for our users.
