There are several things that I like from this tool:

1. You do not need to install any kind of software/client/agent on the remote computer that you want to start managing. You only need to have local administrator rights on the remote computer, which will allow Dameware to install a service for the remote administration. This service can be removed once the remote administration is finished.

2. It is user-friendly and it is very easy to understand how it works. You can start managing remote machines in minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only negative point I see is that, compared to RDP or TeamViewer, Dameware is heavier in terms of bandwidth usage. That means that, in low bandwidth connections, it is slower than other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easily connect to any PC within a Microsoft domain or not. The installation on the client can be pushed through the network or deployed through GPO. A chat is also included and can be very helpful when you can't reach the user on phone. The program handles multiple monitors computers as well and features a few usefull Tools like an integrated ping function (useful when you reboot a computer and want to reconnect on it on completion.) Since being acquired by SolarWinds, they often try to push me into a more expensive product with features I do not need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm able to get into user's PCs with no issue, it blacks out their screen so they know they're being monitored and i'm able to remotely control the machines to resolve the issue, never had I a program so easy to use that I could work remotely, it's awesome! Registration was a problem, it seemed like there was too many hoops to get through to register the program, once done it was fine, but on more than one occasion it's caused me to walk away from my PC in frustration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

DameWare mini remote control is an effective too to use to provide remote support especially in an environment with mostly Windows OS-running workstations. Once the networking piece is properly configured, it only takes a click of a button to install or remove the service on the workstation being supported. It allows multiple hosts to connect to the same session, and file transfer to/from the host can be done with ease. One of the biggest complaints is always the screen blanking feature because often times it doesn't actually work. While you can lock the remote keyboard and mouse to prevent a workstation from being controlled on the client side, there are times when blanking of the screen is useful. For example, providing support on a workstation with highly-sensitive data. In many cases, the end user would be working on something else or even away from his/her desk while the workstation is being worked on. Without knowing for sure if screen blanking is really enabled, other unauthorized users may be able to view the sensitive data shown on the screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are issues with remote video when using both Dameware and Remote Desktop. An example would be if you use Remote Desktop and then switch back to Dameware, you only see a black window. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
