The software lets users create investigative cases, add email files and other evidence, and organise items for review. It supports PST, OST, EML, EMLX, MSG, MBOX, MBX and supported documents and photos. Its indexability makes evidence easy to browse and search. Users can review message body, e-mail headers, properties, attachments, MIME structure and related metadata. Search filters are there to help it find information relevant to keywords, phrases, sender details, dates, attachment information, URLs and IP addresses. The application also offers timeline analysis, communication link maps and sender-recipient data to detect patterns in email conversations. Evidence management features in Softaken Examiner include SHA-256 hash verification, activity logs, bookmarks, tags, notes, and results. These capabilities help record the activities of the document examination and track the integrity of the evidence. Users can generate case reports and export selected findings into formats such as CSV, JSON, HTML, and PDF. Evidence packages can include messages, attachments, metadata, hashes, and supporting information. The software also includes OCR for identifying photos and scanned PDFs to help investigators review retrieved text. Moreover, the Email Forensics Investigation Tool is available for Windows OS.
