"Snowflake’s Workspaces & AI Cortex Code Supercharged Our SQL & Python Workflow for Data Products"

5/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

Snowflake is a really useful cloud data warehouse that has been improving over time. Recently, it improved its AI capabilities, which makes it much better to work with and, in my case, reduced query development time by about 10x. It has also helped with Python code development. I recently built a solid process to automate work using SQL and Python in a notebook, and it’s working great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

Snowflake’s integrations with other platforms have improved. In their most recent comments on X (Twitter) about two weeks ago, they mentioned an upcoming integration with Salesforce that would let you take actions directly from Snowflake. I’m looking forward to that, but as of now it still isn’t supported. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

The Snowsight UI has been improving a lot. In the past, it felt similar to using a DB management tool like DBeaver, but with the recent updates—especially in Workspaces for better query development and data presentation—it has become much more useful. The addition of Cortex Code also helps with queries and coding, and more recently Snowflake has added capabilities from top AI LLMs like Claude, Open AI, LLama, and others.

On performance and cost, Snowflake seems like a way to spend less and build a solid ROI case, mainly because it pushes you toward building data products. For example, Cortex Code suggests query optimizations and helps make those improvements real. And when it’s handling window function queries, it’s really fast compared to many engines. It also seems to have a caching effect: if you run the same query again, it comes back faster.

Support has been great, especially around Cortex Code. The Snowflake team also sends emails inviting us to participate in surveys to improve the product, which gives the impression of a strong and engaged team.

Another recent feature is the data catalogue. Even though we use another tool for this, it’s still great that Snowflake includes it built in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Snowflake’s Multi-Cluster Warehouses Handled Our Flash Sale Spike Effortlessly"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

Last November we launched a Flash Sale promo and our transaction volume jumped 800 percent in two hours. Our old warehouse setup would have queued queries for minutes. But Snowflake's multi cluster warehouse feature is a lifesaver. We set max clusters to 5 on our Small warehouse and it automatically spin up extra clusters when the concurrency spiked. There was no failed queries and no throttling. The best part was that after the sale ended it scaled back down on its own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

Debugging nested JSON parsing errors is a nightmare when you are in hurry. Last month we ingested webhook events from Stripe and some records had missing fields that caused NULL explosions in our downstream models. I spent four hours tracing it to one malformed event out of two million. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used to wast lot of time in capacity planning until we didn't have to do it anymore. Now with automatic scaling and separate compute for different workloads i just spin up dedicated warehouses for ETL dbt runs and Looker dashboards. 2 week brfore our fraud team needed to backtest a new model on 9 months of raw transaction logs. I threw them on a Large warehouse they finished in 11 minutes and nobody else even noticed which was big achievment for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Dynamic masking in Snowflake made role-based access fast and centralized"

5/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

We needed to restrict access based on project roles and fast. That's when i fell for dynamic masking. We applied masking policies directly on columns in Snowflake, no messing with ETL no separate staging tables. I literally wrote ALTER TABLE .... ADD MASKING POLICY and it just worked. Within two days auditors saw masked data while our BI team saw full values. The best part of it was It's all centralized in the account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

At the start we actually struggled with time travel billing. We enabled 90day retention just to be safe because our legal team wanted it. Then our monthly bill spiked. Turns out restoring a table from 70 days ago costs storage even if you never query it. Nobody explained that clearly during the training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

Last month our DPO asked for a data flow map to a new reinsurance partner. I joined tag references with query history and had an answer in 20 minutes. That used to take two days. Plus because Snowflake supports row level security natively we stopped building fragile views for every department. That never happened in our old stack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Data Platform with Outstanding Time Travel, Needs Better Ingestion Tools"

4/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

I feel the time travel feature in Snowflake is outstanding because it retains all the updates and deletions to the data for up to 90 days, allowing me to easily roll back to any previous version of the data. This feature is particularly helpful in rectifying any old data load or bad data load, especially when dealing with instances of stale data being loaded. Additionally, the Snowflake team has been really helpful during the initial onboarding and setup process, making sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

I think Snowflake Openflow is a pretty new tool for data ingestion launched mid or late last year and it does not provide a very user friendly experience for creating dataflows. It has different processors and processor groups that help us achieve the necessary data transformations and loading however their configuration is still quite complicated. Another place where it lags is there is not inbuilt alerting for pipeline/dataflow failures and one has to create a work around for a simple alert. Overall, the pipeline building experience is not at all user friendly and requires a lot of effort in the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Snowflake to consolidate scattered data from AWS and Azure, helping us clean, transform, and load data efficiently. The time travel feature allows us to fix data loading issues by rolling back tables to previous states, ensuring data integrity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Snowflake Scales Effortlessly for High-Volume Logistics Analytics"

4/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

In my capacity as a Business Analyst within the transport sector, I utilize Snowflake extensively to oversee logistics and fleet movement data. The platform's most commendable attribute is its capacity to handle substantial workloads with minimal administrative configuration. It effortlessly supports diverse data formats, including structured records and semi-structured data like JSON from our tracking systems. We typically stage our files in AWS S3, process everything within Snowflake, and subsequently export the insights to dashboards in Power BI. Furthermore, features such as automated scaling and workload isolation ensure that concurrent queries from multiple departments do not compromise system performance. The elimination of manual server management is an additional, significant advantage that streamlines our daily operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

The main challenge with Snowflake is cost management, which requires strict operational discipline. Poorly written or inefficient queries can noticeably slow processing and drive up expenses. There is also a moderate learning curve when you start working with more advanced features, such as data clustering. To help address these points, it’s important to set up multiple user roles and assign clearly defined privileges so the analytics workflow stays secure and cost-effective. That said, it’s a major advantage that manual index tuning is no longer necessary, which is a meaningful improvement compared with older, more traditional systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

Snowflake effectively addresses the complexities of managing massive transportation and inventory datasets, especially during peak operational periods. By bringing data engineering and analytics together in a single environment, it reduces architectural complexity and saves considerable time. As a result, reconciling fleet metrics and tracking cargo movements can be done with greater speed and precision, which in turn supports compliance audits and strategic planning cycles. Just as importantly, workload isolation allows reporting to run independently, ensuring business stakeholders receive insights promptly without impeding or slowing day-to-day transport transactions. "Excellent for Analytics: Transparent Costs, Easy UI, and Straightforward Integrations"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

Snowflake is excellent for analytical workloads. The cost is relatively transparent, and there are plenty of tools available to help optimize both cost and performance. The UI is easy to use, and integration with 3rd-party vendors is straightforward. You can also easily access data that is external to Snowflake, which helps reduce vendor lock-in risk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

By the nature of being a cloud vendor, the UI has limitations in that it is browser based. This is the same story though for all cloud based data processing platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

It provides a cost effective solution to big data problems, with ability to scale seamlessly both vertically and horizontally. Since our data is in AWS in Iceberg format, we don't even need to load the data into Snowflake but can access it with Snowflake integrations and achieve excellent latencies. I find Snowflake extremely useful as a data warehousing tool because it's really fast and offers a lot of tools for processing massive data. I'm really interested in its latest feature, Cortex AI, which I believe can solve many issues my developers face. Cortex AI enables me and my team to integrate data sources and create dashboards in just minutes. It's really helpful for my team in connection with my AWS tools. Also, the initial setup of Snowflake was relatively easy, and I haven't faced any issues while working outside of my firm's compliance constraints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All-In-One Data Solution with High Costs"

4/5

What do you like best about Snowflake?

I really like how Snowflake is a very easy-to-use data warehouse where we can store all our data and then write queries in the notebook and do visualization right there. It's the all-in-one feature of Snowflake that stands out, combining the query notebook and visualization all in one place. It's super easy to get someone up and running with Snowflake, as opposed to having to connect a creator to the data warehouse and connecting a BI tool to it. This ease of use, just getting the team ready and working within minutes, makes Snowflake valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

I think primarily the cost factor, it's way too expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Snowflake as an easy-to-use data warehouse for storing data, writing queries, and doing visualizations all in one place. It streamlines getting the team set up quickly without needing multiple tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Snowflake Keeps Getting Better: A Much-Improved UI Over the Years"

5/5

Snowflake is always improving, and you really have to keep up with all the new features they keep releasing. I’ve been using it for years, and the UI has improved tremendously over that time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

Pricing can feel confusing at times. I had to read the fine print carefully to fully understand all the details and conditions behind the pricing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

It’s enabling us to maintain a single data lake and a single source of truth. Now, with their AI offerings, we can bring more business users onto the platform so they can work with the data more easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
