What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

Snipe-It makes it very easy to manage your organization's assets. Gone are the days of manual spreadsheets and disorganized assets. Snipe-IT allows us to easily track our assets and assign where they were issued. It has been fantastic to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

I like everything about SnipeIT. There are lots of features and plenty of ways to customize the application for your specific use case. There are also exports and bulk imports available which saves us tons of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snipe-IT solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are solving the issue of asset management. Many assets were improperly tracked or that were not inputted into the spreadsheet we were using before, which have just become lost causes. "Easily Track Software Purchases and Renewals"

What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

I can enter and track software purchases and renewals with Snipe-IT. The software enables the PDF contracts of each software to be uploaded to the name, date, and renewal timeframe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

Nothing, I use the free version of Snipe-IT and find that it meets all my needs to track software purchases and renewals. I really appreciate its ability to store the PDF contracts of each software purchase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

Snipe is pretty much a turn key inventory tracking system at a very inexpensive price. I consider it a great fit for below 5k-10k assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

I'd love for Snipe to get a Google connection for user import. Adding users is very easy but it would be nice to have some type of import. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snipe-IT solving and how is that benefiting you?

Snipe is an inexpensive solution that is much better than spreadsheet management. You can search by a user, serial number, location, etc. and also create reports. We can quickly determine what age our fleet is and budget for replacements in the following year. I can also easily track warranties, and add locations as needed. Software and components can be assigned to other devices. My goal with Snipe was to have an easy to use tracking system that others could learn very quickly, limit the permission for other users and quickly implement. So far my teammates love Snipe and are very thankful for it.

1+ year update: Snipe continues to be one of the department's best tools. We continue to rely on inventory history and notes. I've also added new hardware types to Snipe in the past year and am impressed by how simple that is. Adding a new model only takes a couple minutes and is easy to repeat. Probably the largest annoyance is that my label printer doesn't always print right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

Everything works, it is open-source, constantly evolving. You can self-host the service or have them host your tenant for a very reasonnable price.

It has a comprehensive API and we plugged this asset management tool to our MDM and several other tools to automate a lot of the asset checkin and checkout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

The components structure of the tool can be a little overwhelming at first but when you get into it, it makes a lot of sense.

The tool also lacks web hooks for events occurring within the asset management to further automate our organization, but the feature is requested and will probably be added in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

Snipe it is simply the best when it comes to organising your equipment and resources. I've used much (much) more expensive software but, except for a few missing features, Snipe it is just as easy to use, users love it and it's worked flawlessly for years. On top of this you can go for the paid hosting option (around £299 a year IIRC) or host yourself for free! The software is frequently updated and the team work fast to respond to issues and add new features. They've also been great at resolving billing issues etc Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

Um, really the only thing is that I would dearly love to see this product extended with a calendar booking system for kit. Currently Snipe IT is heavily focused on managing resources in IT. If it had a booking system it would be a perfect fit in education as well. I mean we already use it in education due to the pricing but I can always ask for more! Recommendations to others considering Snipe-IT:

Give the excellent open source version a go and chuck it up on a web host or internal server. We did and had no issue moving to the paid hosting option which is kept constantly up to date and helps the dev team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snipe-IT solving and how is that benefiting you?

Stopping things going missing, database to remember facts about purchases. Inventory management, PAT testing, exposing available equipment to users, simplifying booking out process, reducing time spent on adding new equipment or onboarding staff.

Basically Snipe-IT is bloody amazing, I've seen it re-used in lots of projects (but never as well in this original product) and except for additional things I wish it did I can't knock any of its core functionality. What do you like best about Snipe-IT?

The software is free open source software that is feature rich and works well. So far, it has been rock solid stable, without any crashes or major defects that we have discovered. It allows us to track both assets, software, consumables, and peripherals in an easy to use system with multiple users and administrators. The Snipe-IT provinces great support on the paid version and pretty good support through forums for the free version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Snipe-IT?

Initial setup is time/resource inventive since any existing inventory will need to be imported in. I would consider it to be a small/midsize project depending on the size of the deployment and should be planned for accordingly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Snipe-IT:

Consider implementing the system on site, perhaps in a docker deployment if, it is a relatively small deployment. We have had good success running it in a lightweight Synology NAS device.

Perform a new site inventory when deploying Snipe-IT and deploy the necessary resources to complete the inventory/audit.

Make one person responsible for keeping tabs on the system and making sure that the database is up to date.

Perform a small training on company users about how to request equipment and keep track of the devices that they have been asigned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Snipe-IT solving and how is that benefiting you?

Snipe-IT has been great in keeping track of asset and license deployments and purchase histories. It allows us to know who has what equipment and that all software licenses are being used to it's full potential.
