We’ve used Snappr for multiple shoots, and when it works, it’s a very convenient platform for quickly booking professional photographers. The two photographers we worked with prior to our most recent session were punctual, communicative, and delivered high-quality images. The booking interface is generally easy to navigate, and the idea of on-demand photography for nonprofit and mission-driven work is incredibly valuable when everything goes right. Of all the gig economy platforms we’ve used for creatives and production work — including Upwork, Fiverr, 99designs, Thumbtack, Production Hub, Behance, Taskrabbit — Snappr has been the least trustworthy and most frustrating. While the idea of on-demand photography is appealing, the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
First, the booking process is cumbersome. Even as repeat users, we were required to spend time on the phone for every single booking, during which a rep reads a long, scripted disclaimer — every time. It feels impersonal, inefficient, and at odds with the kind of intuitive, streamlined experience most platforms offer.
More concerning, we were informed that Snappr takes up to 40% of photographer's pay, which raises serious questions about sustainability and ethics. It’s trying to be the “Uber of photography,” but in practice, that means underpaid talent, rushed jobs, and poor accountability.
The platform may work for weddings or certain events, but if you are in the film industry and looking for BTS Photography, DO NOT USE THEM. Snappr is not built for real-world production environments. If you’re mid-shoot, you often can’t log into their website to message your photographer — and if communication fails, Snappr’s system offers no refund. In our case, a photographer never connected with us or took a single photo, and Snappr still refused to issue a refund.
It’s a transaction-first platform, not built for relationship-based work — and that’s a problem for nonprofits and professionals who care about quality, fairness, and trust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
