## Smartsheet Reviews
 ### 1. Smartsheet excels at timeline management but falls short as a broad marketing operations platform

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lila G. | Programme Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is genuinely strong for timeline and Gantt-style project tracking. For campaigns with linear dependencies and defined milestones, the grid view is intuitive for users who think in spreadsheet terms, and the timeline visualization gives stakeholders a clear view of where projects stand. For straightforward project tracking with a team that already works in Excel-like environments, it gets the job done without much configuration overhead.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Outside of timeline management, Smartsheet struggles to flex to the varied ways marketing operations teams actually work. Rollout across teams with different working styles and technical comfort levels is genuinely difficult — the interface doesn't adapt well, and adoption tends to be inconsistent as a result. Workflow automation is limited compared to dedicated work management platforms, and building more complex operational systems in Smartsheet requires significant workarounds that create technical debt over time. It works well as a single-purpose tool but doesn't scale effectively as a marketing operations backbone.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet serves a narrow but real use case for our team — primarily as a timeline and milestone tracking tool for campaign planning. Where it adds value is in giving stakeholders a familiar, spreadsheet-adjacent view of project schedules, which reduces friction for people who aren't comfortable with more complex work management interfaces. However, the benefits are limited in scope. It handles linear project tracking reasonably well but doesn't solve the broader operational challenges marketing teams face — cross-functional workflow management, dynamic resource planning, intake routing, or campaign operating model design. In practice, we've found it works best as a supplementary planning view rather than a primary operations platform. The core limitation is that Smartsheet solves for visibility into timelines but not for the operational complexity underneath them. Teams end up doing significant manual work outside the tool to compensate for what it doesn't handle, which offsets much of the efficiency gain it provides.

 ### 2. Effortless Collaboration with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kausar S. | Principal Manager, Digital Transformation, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I like the low code no code implementation in Smartsheet which helps in collaboration. I also appreciate the apps and forms that Smartsheet offers. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I find the sheets concept in Smartsheet could be improved. It would be helpful if it had the capability to merge headers like Excel.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Smartsheet for collaboration, and I like its low code, no-code implementation.

 ### 3. Easy to use, efficient

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jodi U. | Project Management Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

It is helpful to build timelines and recreate other timelines without having to start from scratch. If a deadline changes, it is easy to update and see how the overall timeline is impacted. It is very straightforward and doesn't require a lot of training to get started.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I wish the user interface looked a little more sophisticated than a fancier excel spreadsheet. While it is fairly easy to use, sometimes it can feel clunky and like there could be an easier way to do things.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating timelines efficiently and updating them easily when changes occur

 ### 4. Smartsheet is a great tool to complete complex schedules

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua M. | Project Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

The most helpful part about Smartsheet for my job is the ability to easily reference other sheets I've created. I deal a lot with scheduling so it helps a organize my thoughts the way I want.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Sometimes i have a tough time with the appearance of my smart sheets. i find other programs have more appearance options.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving the problem oh having many schedules that all have to coordinate the same timeline.

 ### 5. Smartsheet is a great tool that makes my job easier to do.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tina C. | Senior Specialist - Global Supply Chain Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

My favorite thing about Smartsheet is how flexible it is. You can use it for just about anything. It's also very simple to make changes to a solution once it's been created. It's nice to be able to pivot when needed!

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet dashboards are generally good, but I’m disappointed that there isn’t an option to filter or drill down into the data. The visualizations also feel somewhat limited when compared to other tools I’ve used. Another issue is that users frequently suggest improvements, even small and straightforward ones, but these changes either never get implemented or take an extremely long time to appear. At the same time, features that no one requested, like Collections, are introduced instead. It would be great if the company listened more closely to its customers.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet saves us time by having all the data we need at our fingertips to make quick decisions. It's also made our teams more effecient because it's so easy to use!

 ### 6. Effortless Form Creation, Instant Data Access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I really like the ease of form creation in Smartsheet. I can easily create a form, share the link with techs, and they can fill it out in the field. I have access to their answers in seconds, which is incredibly helpful for keeping our tasks moving.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I would like to be able to see the filled out forms in a form format and not just answers in the spreadsheet. The spreadsheets are great but I would also like to see the forms filled out as well.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps replace paper forms and keeps our tasks moving. I appreciate the ease of form creation; I can share a form link, and techs fill it out in the field, giving me instant access to their answers.

 ### 7. No better way to manage work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beth F. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

It's a robust toolbox that lets me solve any business process and I can share status and metrics with key stakeholders

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Support is awful. The customer service interface consistently lets me down. No one at Smartsheet seems to care about the end user (me) - they just want to sell more product and make more money

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Information transparency - can share work so all stakeholders can be informed

 ### 8. Project management tool with great collaboration features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

User-friendly: Smartsheet is quite easy to use, even for end users who aren’t very familiar with technology.

Fostered collaboration: One of Smartsheet’s biggest advantages is how easy it makes collaboration. It provides a centralised environment where changes are tracked in the history, and real-time notifications are sent. It’s also simple to integrate links to Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive, which helps keep project documentation clear, organised, and accessible.

Customization options: More experienced users can create custom templates, workflows, and automated alerts to adapt the tool to the company’s specific needs. Overall, there’s a wide range of customization available.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

The customization options are complex and time-consuming, even for expert users, and they’re also very difficult to maintain over time. When issues come up with templates, workflows, or automatisms, fixes are often applied only to new plans rather than to existing ones, which creates additional effort.

There are no interactive reports or dashboards for view-only users, so other tools are needed to work around these limitations. In our case, we exported the data and presented it to our top management team using Looker Studio.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet simplifies the tracking and management of regulatory activities by avoiding the fragmented use of different files and systems. It reduces manual tasks and improves efficiency, while also supporting better harmonization across our processes.

 ### 9. Visibility and Collaboration

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naveed J. | Chief Digital Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet combines spreadsheet simplicity with good project management. It helps us plan, track, automate, and collaborate in one place with flexible views, dashboards that improve visibility, accountability, and efficiency across our projects and teams.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Recently, Smartsheet has become more expensive, and there is a noticeable learning curve when it comes to its advanced features. It is not the best choice for in-depth document editing or managing highly complex projects. The options for customization are somewhat limited, and if you need extensive automation or advanced reporting, you may have to opt for higher-tier plans.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool has been very helpful in managing the tasks assigned by senior management. The notification and reminder automations are especially useful and make our work much easier.

 ### 10. Smooth event and project management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Júlia P. | Communications and Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I frequently use integrations for event participants management and to track deliverables as part of project management. It's very easy when it comes to events to send reminders when we need to ask for information or documents (instead of 50 individual emails, I just need to draft a template, and Smartsheet does the information collection for me).

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I have never used customer support, so I can't talk about that in a positive or negative way. I think as a guest user, the limitation of what guests and administrators/business accounts can do is a bit frustrating: e.g. the name of the smartsheet sheet is wrong, I need to ask one of the business accounts holders to change the name of the file.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the main problems is event management (managing registrations, participants lists, their additional information like arrivals, departures, needs,... all in one platform). Another problem is task management when it comes to big projects wil different deliverables and workpackages, allocating who is in charge of producing what and being able to create automations with deadlines as we assign tasks and projects to colleagues.

 ### 11. Flexible and Reliable for Team Workflows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dominik G. | IT Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is very easy to use and feels familiar for anyone used to spreadsheets, which makes adoption smooth across teams. Implementation was simple, and we were able to set up workflows without much training. Customer support has been responsive and helpful whenever questions came up. I use Smartsheet frequently for tracking projects, assigning tasks, and reporting. The number of features is impressive — from automation and dashboards to integrations with other tools we use — but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. The integrations (with Google Workspace, Slack, etc.) make it easy to connect Smartsheet to our existing workflows, which saves time and reduces manual updates

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Some of the advanced features take extra time to learn, and customizing dashboards or complex reports can feel a bit tricky without training. The mobile app is useful for quick updates but not as smooth for building or editing sheets compared to desktop. Pricing can also become a factor if you need premium features or a larger number of users. These are minor issues overall, but worth being aware

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us track hardware deliveries more accurately — for example, associates can scan a QR code when a laptop is delivered, so we know exactly which device they received. This improves accountability and reduces errors. It also makes scheduling easier, such as when we arrange remote laptop wipe slots, since the platform keeps everything organized and visible to the team. Overall, it saves time, cuts down on miscommunication, and helps ensure a smoother IT support process.

 ### 12. Smartsheet has been a transformative solution for our business.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmed M. | Service Planner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet has been a transformative solution for our business. It has brought structure, accountability, and efficiency to our operations. It's more than just a project management tool; it's a dynamic work execution platform that has become the central nervous system for our projects.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. If your team is struggling with disjointed systems and a lack of visibility, Smartsheet is the solution. It scales beautifully from small teams to large enterprises and is worth every penny for the clarity and control it provides.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While powerful, Smartsheet's cost adds up quickly, and its advanced features have a steep learning curve. The spreadsheet interface can feel rigid, and large sheets often suffer from noticeable performance lag, which frustrates users.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet replaces our chaotic spreadsheets and emails, creating a single source of truth that provides real-time visibility, automates workflows, and ensures projects finish on time, saving us significant time and reducing errors.

 ### 13. Efficient Task Management with Room for Customization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav A. | Finance Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I appreciate how Smartsheet helps me manage my tasks efficiently. The feature that allows me to tick mark tasks upon completion is particularly helpful as it enhances my task management process. Additionally, Smartsheet effectively helps in tracking employee leaves, providing individual access to the employees. This feature enhances connectivity and ensures everyone is on the same page, which I find very valuable.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I find the sheer number of options in Smartsheet overwhelming. It would be beneficial if the platform allowed users to customize their experience more easily by selecting specific options from tabs directly on the sheet, tailoring it to individual needs.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Smartsheet to track employee leaves with personalized access, enhancing task management by marking completed tasks.

 ### 14. Streamlined and Efficient

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Debbie . | Senior Faculty Development Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet has been a game-changer for managing projects and team collaboration. The platform is intuitive, flexible, and allows us to customize workflows to match our needs. Features like automated alerts, dashboards, and collaborative sheets make it easy to keep everyone aligned and on track.

The ability to centralize tasks, deadlines, and updates in one place has saved our team a significant amount of time. It’s streamlined our processes and improved visibility across projects, which has made communication more efficient and reduced the need for status meetings.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While Smartsheet is powerful, reporting can feel a bit limited. Building detailed or highly customized reports isn’t always intuitive, and sometimes it takes extra time to pull the exact insights we need. The reporting features work well for basic overviews, but more flexibility and easier formatting options would make them even stronger.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet has helped reduce the manual effort of managing projects by automating repetitive tasks. The automation features for assigning tasks and sending reminders ensure that nothing slips through the cracks and that team members stay accountable without constant follow-up.

Filtering makes it easy to view only the information that’s relevant, which cuts down on clutter and helps us focus on priorities. Altogether, these features save time, keep projects moving forward, and give us better visibility into progress.

 ### 15. Smart, easy way to keep track of what's going on within the business.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason W. | Installation co-ordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I find most helpful about Smartsheet is that it provides a single, flexible platform for managing work and ensuring everyone stays aligned. Many other tools tend to focus solely on task tracking, spreadsheets, or project management individually, but Smartsheet brings all of these elements together in one place.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

The size and performance limits of sheets can become an issue, as large or complex sheets may slow down or reach row and cell restrictions. There is also a learning curve; while the tool is powerful, it can feel overwhelming initially. Cost is another consideration, since accessing advanced features often requires higher-tier licenses or additional add-ons. The mobile app has its own limitations, offering fewer features compared to the desktop version. When it comes to reporting and visuals, the options are less flexible than what you would find in dedicated BI tools.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet greatly enhances organization, transparency, and efficiency by bringing all project information, tasks, and communications together on a single platform. This approach helps minimize delays and miscommunication, while providing teams with clear insight into responsibilities, upcoming deadlines, and possible bottlenecks. By making collaboration more seamless and automating routine workflows, it saves time, boosts accountability, and helps keep projects progressing smoothly and as planned.

 ### 16. Smartsheet for Efficiency and Communication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassidy B. | Benefit Administration Technical Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I like the communication aspect of Smartsheet, which takes away reliance on Teams and Outlook, for clients and users that do not have Microsoft. I am able to track the status of projects in real time, receive email notifications when someone tags me, and attach documents as needed. It really helps my team be efficient, stay on track, and be held accountable. I use Smartsheet daily for multiple aspects of my job, and it has truly been a game changer.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I would like to see more customization capabilities and possibly some more user-friendly ways to access chat and attachment features. The form generation is great, but some users are still able to manipulate fields they otherwise should not be able to.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet allows my team to better collaborate and re-assign tasks as needed. Since it is online, we are all able to access Smartsheet from anywhere.

 ### 17. Seamless Data Collection with User-Friendly Forms

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley A. | Executive Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I really appreciate that they offer forms. Having a front-facing form for people to fill out, with all the data accessible on the back end, has been extremely useful. I also enjoy using the automation workflows and conditional formatting features.

Additionally, we've used the program for handling applications and have connected it to Slack. The ability to integrate these tools and automate updates has been impressive.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I really wish the phone app offered more functionality. At the moment, navigating through it and reviewing the data is quite difficult. Additionally, the Card view and tasks section could use an update. Everything feels confusing right now, and the fact that you can only see your tasks in specific views makes the experience feel disorganized.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Applications for a program we run yearly.

Capturing attendance for credit purposes.

Keeping track of training sessions and billing stages.

Monitoring the stages of superintendent search stages.

 ### 18. Smartsheet: My Go-To for Complex Projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shannon H. | Owner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I like best about Smartsheet is how flexible it is for complex processes. I can build dashboards, automate approvals, and manage large sets of data without needing advanced coding skills. It’s easy to customize for different teams, and I love that I can keep everything—from project timelines to executive-level reporting—in one place.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet isn’t always as flexible as I’d like. For example, dashboards don’t carry themes across workspaces, so I have to rebuild formatting. Visualizations can get cluttered with large data sets, and integrations like Power BI don’t always update as smoothly as I’d expect. It works well for many things, but there are still limitations that make some tasks harder than they should be.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us manage complex processes that used to be scattered across emails and spreadsheets. It centralizes large amounts of data, makes approvals more transparent, and allows me to build dashboards that give leadership clear visibility. Automations cut down on manual follow-ups, and having everything in one place saves time and reduces errors. The biggest benefit is that it keeps projects moving forward smoothly while giving us reliable data to make decisions.

 ### 19. Easy to use and learn

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas T. | Data Analytics Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is designed similar to Excel spreadsheet. I work with Excel daily. Therefore, I feel comfortable to understand the logics/functions used in Smartsheet and cell–row interactions largely mirror Excel’s. Again, it's so similar to Excel that I learn how to use it quickly.

Also, Smartsheet adds some helpful features: conditional formatting to color-code or highlight cells and rows when criteria are met, built-in dropdowns for controlled selections, and cross-sheet cell linking so I can pull everything I need into one place for review and action.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I once had to build a survey in Smartsheet. It was great for capturing responses and tabulating them, no problem there. But the form builder felt pretty limited. Simple forms are easy, but when I tried to create something more complex—like letting respondents enter multiple products and prices in a little table with some conditional logic—I hit a wall. There wasn’t a native way to do multi-row inputs or more advanced branching, so I had to simplify the form.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I oversee data team's work across multiple projects, and each one has its own Smartsheet that the PM updates. I can't go through every Smartsheet to pick up information related to data side. It will take a lot of time. So, I built a roll-up Smartsheet that links key cells from all of them. Now when a PM updates something, it pops up in one place and I can spot requests or urgent data tasks immediately. It’s saved me a ton of clicks and cut down on misses.

 ### 20. Project tracker

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rithu V. | Meeting Scheduler, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

It’s very user-friendly and easy to adapt, even for people who don’t have a technical background.

I like how flexible it is—we can manage projects, track progress, and collaborate all in one place.

The ability to customize sheets, dashboards, and reports to fit different workflows is really helpful.

The most helpful about Smartsheet is integration with tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Google Workspace makes it seamless to use across different platforms.

The upsides of using Smartsheet is, it improves transparency by giving everyone access to the same information in real time and It’s scalable— we can use it for small projects or complex, enterprise-level operations.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

The mobile app has fewer capabilities compared to the desktop version, which limits flexibility on the go.

The least helpful about Smartsheet is Large or complex sheets may run slower, especially with heavy attachments or formulas.

The downsides of using Smartsheet is Pricing can be on the higher side for small teams or individuals.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps solve the challenge of scattered communication by bringing project updates, files, and discussions into one centralized platform. This reduces confusion and keeps everyone aligned and It helps with accountability by assigning clear owners and deadlines to tasks, reducing missed deadlines and overlaps.

Benefits:

Faster decision-making thanks to real-time insights.

Better team collaboration, especially for cross-functional or remote teams.

More consistency in workflows

 ### 21. From Spreadsheets to Smartsheet: A Game-Changer for Research Study Teams!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Theresa P. | Sr. Research Regulatory Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I like best about Smartsheet is how flexible and intuitive it is. It feels like working in a spreadsheet, but with way more power behind it. I can easily track tasks, deadlines, and statuses without needing to learn a complicated system.

I especially appreciate how I can automate workflows, like sending alerts or reminders, without needing any coding skills. It saves me a ton of time and keeps everything moving smoothly.

Collaboration is another huge plus. Everyone on the team can see the same live data, leave comments, attach files, and stay aligned without endless email threads.

I also love using forms to collect data. Whether it's from study staff or participants, the information flows directly into my sheets, which makes tracking and organizing so much easier.

The dashboards and reporting tools are great for visualizing progress. I can quickly see how a study is going, track enrollment, or monitor regulatory deadlines at a glance. And since I work with sensitive research data, I really value the permission controls. I can decide who sees what, which helps maintain confidentiality and compliance.

Finally, Smartsheet integrates with tools I already use, like Microsoft 365 and Adobe Sign, so I can streamline processes like consent tracking or document approvals without switching platforms.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While I find Smartsheet incredibly useful overall, there are a few aspects that I find less helpful. For starters, the formatting options are pretty limited compared to tools like Excel or Word. I often wish I could customize fonts, colors, and layouts more freely, especially when preparing sheets for presentations.

Another challenge is that Smartsheet doesn’t function like a true relational database, which makes linking data across multiple sheets more cumbersome than I’d like. The mobile app is convenient for quick updates, but it’s not ideal for managing complex sheets or building out new ones—I usually wait until I’m back at my desktop for that.

There’s also a bit of a learning curve when it comes to advanced features like automation and dashboards; it took some time to really understand how to use them effectively. Lastly, while it integrates with Adobe Sign, I wish Smartsheet had native e-signature tracking built in. The extra steps required to manage consents or approvals can slow things down and add complexity to otherwise simple workflows.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet is solving several key problems in my day-to-day work as a research regulatory coordinator. One of the biggest challenges I face is keeping track of multiple studies, each with its own set of deadlines, documents, and team members. Smartsheet helps me centralize all of that information in one place, so I’m not constantly switching between spreadsheets, emails, and shared drives. It also solves the problem of inconsistent communication—by allowing me to assign tasks, set reminders, and leave comments directly in the sheet, everyone stays on the same page. The automation features have been a huge time-saver, especially for repetitive tasks like sending reminders for consent form signatures or IRB renewals. I also benefit from the ability to create dashboards and reports that give me a quick overview of study progress, which makes it easier to communicate updates to PIs and leadership. Overall, Smartsheet helps me stay organized, reduce manual work, and improve collaboration across research teams.

 ### 22. Smartsheet is great for creating project schedules and expense tracking.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Being able to add an attachment to an individual row is what sets Smartsheet apart from other spreadsheet platforms. I like the Gant layout and the ease of being able to create a project schedule that I then export and upload onto Procore. The formatting and data all stay the same when I export and upload. I use it weekly to create and update our project schedules.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

It’s frustrating not being able to easily modify multiple rows at the same time.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us organize and track our business financials, especially for project expense tracking, because we can attach documents and files to specific rows. That added context makes it easier to stay on top of expenses and sets us up for success when creating expense projections.

 ### 23. It transformed our team's chaos into a clear, automated, and trackable workflow.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed M. | Voice provisioner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

The most like about is the interface with powerful project management, automation, and collaboration tools. The grid view is instantly familiar to anyone who has used Excel or Google Sheets, which dramatically reduces training time and user resistance. Native integrations with core apps like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, and Salesforce create a seamless workflow across platforms. Create rich, visual dashboards with charts and metrics to give stakeholders an at-a-glance view of project health and performance.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is significantly more expensive than many competitors (like Asana or Trello), especially for teams that need advanced features or many users. The pricing can be a barrier for small businesses or startups. While simple task tracking is easy, building complex automated workflows, dashboards, and formulas requires significant technical skill and training, often needing a dedicated admin or "power user.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Frees up your team to focus on high-value work instead of administrative tasks. Increases speed and ensures processes are followed consistently, reducing human error and oversight. Provides instant, at-a-glance visibility for stakeholders at all levels. This enables proactive management, helps identify bottlenecks early, and makes reporting effortless and data-driven.

 ### 25. From Chaos to Clarity: How Smartsheet Streamlined Our Workflows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rana V. | HR Workday Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I’ve been using Smartsheet for over a year now as part of our project and business process management strategy, and I can confidently say that it has changed the way my team collaborates, manages timelines, and tracks deliverables. Before Smartsheet, we relied heavily on spreadsheets, emails, and disconnected tools. As our projects grew more complex, this approach became unsustainable - deadlines were missed, updates got lost in endless email threads, and accountability was unclear.

Smartsheet solved a large part of that problem by giving us a centralized, dynamic workspace where everyone stays on the same page - literally. The ability to manage multiple projects in one place, create dependencies, set up automated reminders, and visualize progress using dashboards has been a game-changer.

What I Like Most:

Flexible & Familiar Interface: Smartsheet feels like a spreadsheet but offers much more intelligence and automation than Excel or Google Sheets. The learning curve is gentle for new users.

Automation That Saves Time: Setting up automated workflows for approvals, notifications, and reminders has reduced manual follow-ups significantly.

Collaboration Made Easy: Our cross-functional teams can comment directly on tasks, attach files, and track discussions in real time. This has drastically improved transparency and accountability.

Reporting & Dashboards: The real-time dashboards are incredibly useful for leadership reporting and making data-driven decisions quickly.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Areas for Improvement:

Performance with Large Data Sets: When working on heavily loaded sheets with thousands of rows, performance slows down a bit, especially when using formulas and multiple cross-sheet references.

Pricing for Small Teams: While the value is undeniable, smaller teams or startups might find the pricing a little steep compared to simpler alternatives.

Mobile Experience: The mobile app is good but still lacks some of the advanced customization available on the web platform.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before we adopted Smartsheet, our team was struggling with scattered communication, manual tracking, and constant follow-ups. We managed projects using a mix of Excel sheets, emails, and chat threads - which meant information was siloed, deadlines were missed, and there was no single source of truth.

Smartsheet has completely changed that. It centralized our workflows, allowing us to manage projects, resources, budgets, and timelines all in one place. Now, instead of spending hours chasing updates, we rely on real-time dashboards, automated reminders, and collaborative sheets that keep everyone aligned.

For example, during a company-wide resource allocation project, we had to track hundreds of team members, dependencies, and budget constraints. Using Smartsheet, we built a live, interactive project tracker that provided instant visibility for leadership and saved us dozens of hours every week.

Key Benefits We’ve Experienced:

Better Collaboration: All discussions, files, and task updates happen in one place, reducing endless email threads.

Time Savings: Automated workflows, alerts, and approvals have eliminated a lot of manual follow-ups.

Data Transparency: Leadership can access real-time dashboards to make informed decisions quickly.

Scalability: Whether we’re managing one project or multiple enterprise-level initiatives, Smartsheet scales effortlessly.

In short, Smartsheet has helped us move from reactive problem-solving to proactive project management. Our productivity has increased, cross-team alignment has improved, and decision-making has become faster and more data-driven.

 ### 26. Great tool with a few tiny rough edges

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I like best about Smartsheet is how easy it makes it to keep projects organized and moving. I love that I can build workflows, dashboards, and sheets that fit exactly how my team operates without needing complicated setup. Everything stays in one place, updates in real time, and it’s simple for anyone on the team to jump in and collaborate. It basically gives me the structure of a spreadsheet with the power of a full project-management platform

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Conditional formatting comes across as quite basic. I often find myself wanting greater control and a wider range of styles, but the available options remain fairly simple. The mobile app also feels somewhat restricted. When I access a sheet on my phone, I quickly notice that I can't make all the adjustments I would normally do on the desktop version.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool keeps all your work organized in one place. Tasks, dates, and owners are displayed clearly, which helps you avoid confusion and makes tracking progress much easier.

It also enhances team visibility. Everyone is aware of what you are working on and what the next steps are, so you end up sending fewer follow-up messages. Teams that use tools like Smartsheet often reduce their reporting time by about 20 percent.

Additionally, it helps standardize your processes. By using templates, rules, and structured workflows, your projects remain consistent, you minimize errors, and you achieve cleaner results.

 ### 27. Good for the most part

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santiago I. | Operations Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smart sheets is great for data management, it's flexible with easy user interface, and it's most useful feature to us is the usage of mobile devices for the platform. We use it daily for live performances and keep track of most things. The access to API's works great, we implement external code so that we can do the automations we want to do.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Customer support read a script, but too many of the issues we had needed to be solved by our team. It feels limited in both automations as well as interface on the back end. Small things, such as conversations needed to be removed manually if they're tied to a sheet, we can't copy cells and paste them to a different sheet, connectivity to Power Automate is not the best and is severely limited. Automations take a few minutes, and you can't prioritize automations or time them by the minute, so they require specific structuring even though it wouldn't be an issue with programs such as Excel. They update features that seem more aesthetic and there are many small details that could instead be improved which would honestly increase the apps value.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheets allows us to have mobile devices directly insert data onto the sheets which we are able to use the very same day for inventory across multiple theaters.

 ### 28. CRE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrzej K. | CRE, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I like best about Smartsheet is how it brings everything together in one place, making it easy to manage projects from start to finish without juggling multiple tools. Its real-time collaboration features let my team work together smoothly, no matter where we are. I also appreciate the flexibility to customize views and workflows to fit our specific needs. Lastly, the dashboards give me clear insights into project progress, helping me make quick, informed decisions.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

From my experience, Smartsheet can be a bit challenging to learn because of its many advanced features. I also find the mobile app limiting since it doesn’t offer all the functions available on the desktop. The need to manually save and refresh sometimes interrupts my workflow, as changes aren’t updated instantly. Lastly, I feel the pricing is on the higher side for smaller teams, and the interface isn’t always the easiest to navigate.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet is solving the problem of scattered project management by centralizing tasks, timelines, and collaboration in one platform. This helps me save time by reducing back-and-forth emails and keeping everyone aligned with up-to-date information. It also streamlines workflow automation, which cuts down on repetitive manual work. Overall, it makes managing complex projects much easier and more efficient for me and my team.

 ### 29. Project Planning staple with simple/intuitive functionality

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly H. | Sr Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Reliable project planning tool with the functionality to create very useful team dashboards, project plans, forms, and other items. I love that it is simple functionality which is intuit and easy to pick up a first time user.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

When creating project plans, I would love to see a better visual for the gantt chart. I essentially never use the gantt chart as I can't customize it and make it visually appealing enough to place into any decks/executive presentations. Allowing better visual customization and easy drop-in to PowerPoint/Google Slides would be a huge win.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides intuitive and simple functionality that is most commonly used when creating project plans. Some specific examples: 1) Creating child tasks that auto populate the start/end dates of the parent task based on all sub activities 2) auto adjusting dates of tasks that have dependencies on other tasks. 3) Creating a gantt chart based on the tasks/activities

 ### 30. Essential for Project Timelines and Ticketing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff E. | CRM Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I mostly use it to review project timelines that PMs put together. We also use it as a ticketing system and roadmaps. It's a great way to visualize the details for someone like me that tends to see big picture easier, but it also helps my teamembers see the big picture or strategy when they tend to see more of the details within a project.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I would like there to be more customization when it comes to creating roadmaps. This would help as I sometimes have to revert back to Lucid and execs want to stay in Smartsheet.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It definitely helps our teams stay connected with so many different tasks to handle within large scale projects.

 ### 31. Great Potential, But Room For Improvement

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chelsea W. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it. The forms are straightforward to build, making it simple to collect and organize information.

With better implementation support, improved collaboration features, and more intuitive dashboard/tools, it could be a leader in the space.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While Smartsheet has strong core functionality, several aspects make it frustrating for broad use.

Licensing & Collaboration Limitations – The licensing model works if only PMs are creating/managing content, but it’s poor for collaboration. Team members need paid licenses to do anything beyond adding comments, which hinders engagement.

Poor Onboarding & Communication from Sales – When we purchased, our rep never mentioned features like Control Center. We built a workaround that now makes it hard to implement Control Center without major disruption. It’s frustrating to learn about key features only after committing to a different structure.

Community & Support Gaps – The community forum is disorganized, with outdated content, repetitive questions, and minimal Smartsheet staff responses. Support for urgent issues is slow, and there was a lack of best practices guidance during implementation.

Interface & Usability Frustrations –

Dashboards are time-consuming to make visually appealing, with no alignment or measurement tools, and resizing charts requires changes in reports instead of in the dashboard.

Limited dashboard visuals and color customization—no ability to add custom hex codes for branding.

Sheet roll-ups and indents aren’t clearly broken out.

Task descriptions require extra columns, which clutter the sheet and make it visually busy.

Predecessors automatically affect dates; there’s no option to show them for information only.

Cannot share access at the folder level—permissions must be managed sheet by sheet.

Technical & Automation Constraints –

#REF errors don’t explain the problem.

Automations and reporting require excessive hidden columns just to function.

Limited automation rules and flexibility.

Overall Design Philosophy –
Smartsheet feels like a glorified Excel with rigid structures. The interface could be more intuitive, letting users click into tasks for details or linking to templates without cluttering the sheet with unused columns. It’s not well-suited for organizations that need a more flexible project management approach.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralizing Project Tracking – Gives our PMs a single workspace to manage timelines, tasks, and deliverables instead of juggling multiple spreadsheets or tools.

Form-Based Data Collection – Easy-to-build forms streamline the intake of project requests, updates, and other structured information from across the organization.

Visibility for Project Leads – Allows PMs to track progress, monitor status changes, and compile reports without waiting on manual updates from multiple stakeholders.

Standardization of Processes – Templates and consistent sheet structures help keep our projects aligned to the same framework, which is helpful for reporting and portfolio management.

Audit Trail & Documentation – Built-in history and comment tracking make it easier to document changes and decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Cross-Project Reporting – Roll-up reports and dashboards provide leadership with high-level visibility into progress and risks across initiatives.

 ### 32. Flexibility and Visibility Boost with Smartsheet

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben F.

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I have been using Smartsheet for approximately twelve months, primarily for product, project, and portfolio management. What stands out most about Smartsheet is its flexibility and ease of use, which was a pivotal factor in its selection over other vendors. The product allows me to quickly and easily build reports and dashboards from data, which is incredibly useful. Furthermore, the ability to connect through automations and blueprinting to establish a system without needing any coding knowledge is invaluable. I also find the engagement from the Smartsheet team, including the sales team and customer success team, particularly commendable. Scott Enver, who worked with us to develop our solution, provided excellent support. Their involvement in the consultancy process was brilliant, and the end product that we created together is fantastic. The solutions developed in Smartsheet have allowed us to systemize our project and portfolio management, providing us with full visibility on where our portfolio programs are at—a significant improvement from our previous capabilities. This systemization brought a step change in our capability, garnering positive feedback from our leadership team, particularly regarding the dashboard experience and its future potential.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I find the use of the control center in Smartsheet to be somewhat rigid. It lacks flexibility, especially when it comes to making global changes across templates in our projects. Although some capability exists, I feel that it could be enhanced significantly to allow for easier and more widespread modifications. This would improve the overall experience, as Smartsheet offers a lot of flexibility on an individual basis, but not as much when attempting to apply changes globally throughout a designed solution.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet has provided our team with systemized project and portfolio management, enhancing our capability with full visibility on portfolio progress. This has led to positive feedback from leadership and improved dashboard experiences.

 ### 33. Smartsheet Makes Project Management & Workflow Tracking Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vignesh Kumar P. | Trainer, Quality Control, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

The Excel-like interface made onboarding smooth for the team.
Automation features like alerts, reminders, and form-based task submissions save a lot of time.
Real-time collaboration with comments and attachments ensures nothing is missed.
Dashboards give a quick overview for managers and clients alike.
It's flexible enough to handle everything from content calendars to asset tracking.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Sometimes large sheets cause lag or slow loading.
Pricing is on the higher side for small teams.
The mobile app is functional but limited compared to the desktop version.
Learning curve for advanced automation features can be steep.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us solve the problem of managing complex projects and tasks across teams in a centralized and organized way. Before Smartsheet, we used to rely on scattered emails, spreadsheets, and manual updates — which often caused delays and confusion.
With Smartsheet, we now have real-time visibility into project status, task ownership, and deadlines. Automated reminders and alerts ensure that no task is missed, while forms and collaborative sheets make it easy to collect and track inputs from both internal and external stakeholders.
This has significantly improved our team’s efficiency, reduced manual follow-ups, and allowed us to deliver projects on time with better accountability.

 ### 34. Smartsheet: Flexible, Powerful, and a Game Changer for Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hardeep B. | Accounts Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I really like how flexible and easy to use Smartsheet is. It feels familiar like a spreadsheet, but it’s much more powerful when it comes to managing projects and keeping teams organised. The ability to collaborate in real time, track progress, and automate workflows has made a big difference in how efficiently my team works. Smartsheet’s automation features and customisable views are game changers. I can switch between grid, Gantt, calendar, or card views depending on what I’m working on, and I love how it all stays synced. The automated alerts and reminders keep everyone on track without needing constant follow-ups.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

There’s a bit of a learning curve at first, especially when setting up more advanced automations or complex dashboards. Some of the formatting options can also feel limited compared to Excel, and large sheets can get a bit slow to load if there’s a lot of data or formulas. Pricing can be on the higher side for smaller teams, but the value and features generally make up for it.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us stay on top of deadlines and maintain a clear overview of all our projects in one place. It’s made it much easier to track progress, assign tasks, and see where things stand without having to chase updates. The automated reminders and notifications help keep everyone accountable, and the dashboards make it simple to spot bottlenecks or upcoming deadlines. Overall, it’s improved our team’s organisation, communication, and ability to deliver projects on time.

 ### 35. A Solution for Database Management and Surveys

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Petr D. | Feasibility Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

We needed something that allows us to maintain a database and conduct surveys. It can do both. The system is relatively easy to use. We use it very frequently with involving many people as guest users, and we don't have any trouble with that.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

The system is not very flexible. It would be nice to have more flexibility on the survey forms.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a database of potential partners and a tool for conducting surveys. Other solutions on the market are overpriced or have insufficient tools and flexibility. The Smartsheet offers a reliable solution for a reasonable price.

 ### 36. Effortless Project Management and Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo G. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I like that Smartsheet makes project management and collaboration simple. It’s easy to track tasks, timelines, and resources all in one place, keeping teams organized and on schedule.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Sometimes it can feel a bit complex to set up new sheets or automate workflows, and a few more customization options would be helpful.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet solves the problem of keeping projects and teams organized by centralizing tasks, timelines, and resources. This benefits me by improving collaboration, tracking progress efficiently, and ensuring projects stay on schedule.

 ### 37. Streamlined Workflows and Real-Time Collaboration with Powerful Dashboards

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

From asset monitoring to data tracking and reporting, setting up a spreadsheet where everyone can submit ideas for business improvement—and assigning these to the appropriate teams for follow-up—proves to be highly effective. These templates simplify the process of building structured workflows, so you don’t have to start from scratch. I also find the featured dashboards extremely useful, as they allow for the creation of clear, interactive, and visually appealing displays that make it easy to track progress and present key information. Furthermore, the automation and collaboration tools enable multiple teams to update data in real time, which greatly boosts both efficiency and transparency. It’s similar to Excel, but more interactive, packed with additional features, and much easier to use. We rely on it every day.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Integration with other software can be challenging, and the interface feels quite restrictive. Setting it up isn't always straightforward and requires significant training to become comfortable with it. However, once you get used to it, the system becomes very intuitive, and you may not want to switch to anything else.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asset tracking, team collaboration, and real-time reporting are all supported, providing a comprehensive overview of the business through the dashboard.

 ### 38. Great Templates and Dashboards, but Limited Data Analysis in Smartsheet

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

The most useful aspect of Smartsheet is its wide range of templates that can be used for different purposes. From project monitoring and to data tracking and reporting. These templates make it easy to set up structured workflows without starting from scratch. I also find the featured dashboards extremely valuable, as they allow you to create clear, interactive, and visually appealing dashboards that help track progress and present key information effectively. I would add as well its features about automation and collaboration which allows multiple teams to update data in real time

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While Smartsheet is very useful for organizing and tracking projects, its data analysis and organization capabilities are quite limited. The platform lacks advanced features such as proper pivot tables or more flexible data categorization options. Even compared to basic Excel functions. It can also be difficult to organize and structure large sets of data efficiently within sheets. Additionally, while the form feature is easy to use, it offers very few customization options and limited interaction with users. The forms could be more dynamic and flexible to collect richer and more engaging inputs.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Although Smartsheet was already in use when I joined the organization, I’ve seen how it helps manage multiple projects and keep everything organized in one place. It makes it easier to track activities, monitor progress, and consolidate data from different teams without relying on multiple spreadsheets or emails. The dashboards and templates also help visualize results and support better reporting, which is very useful for project performance and monitoring work.

 ### 39. Solid, Simple, but Nothing Advanced

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudia C. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Overall, Smartsheet is a solid project management tool, but I find it to be just “fine” rather than outstanding. I use Smartsheet everyday for basic project tracking and collaboration. While it gets the job done, I prefer platforms like Monday or even Asana, which I find to be more intuitive and offer a richer feature set.

Smartsheet is relatively easy to use, especially if you’re familiar with spreadsheets. The interface is straightforward and doesn’t take long to learn. However, it lacks some of the more modern UI touches that competitors provide, which can make it feel less engaging.

Smartsheet has the essential features you’d expect for project management, but it doesn’t go far beyond that. The ability to create templates is a definite plus, but more advanced features feel lacking compared to some competitors.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

My biggest gripe is the lack of flexibility for manipulating individual line items—they aren’t as customizable as I’d like. Smartsheet is also a bit bare-bones with no “frills” or advanced features that would make it stand out. Other services feel more dynamic and modern in comparison.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps me organize and manage project schedules in one place. It makes it easy to track deadlines, dependencies, and keep everyone on the same page. This benefits me by streamlining project planning and ensuring that timelines are clear and accessible for the whole team.

 ### 40. Smartsheet: The Backbone of Our Productivity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

What I really like about Smartsheet is how it brings clarity and structure to my day-to-day work. It’s incredibly easy to collaborate across teams, track progress, and stay organized - especially when juggling multiple projects. The customizable dashboards and automated workflows save time and reduce manual follow-ups, which helps me stay focused on supporting sales without getting bogged down in admin tasks. It’s a reliable tool that keeps everything moving smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While Smartsheet is a powerful and flexible tool, there are a few areas where it could be improved. For example, the UI can feel a bit cluttered at times, especially when managing large sheets with many collaborators. More intuitive navigation or customizable views could help streamline the experience. Additionally, while automation features are helpful, they could be expanded to include more advanced logic or integrations with other platforms.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet is solving several key problems that come with managing complex workflows and cross-functional collaboration. For me, one of the biggest benefits is how it centralizes information—no more digging through emails or spreadsheets to find updates or track progress. It also helps automate repetitive tasks, which saves time and reduces the chance of errors. The ability to create shared sheets, reports, and dashboards means everyone stays aligned, and I can quickly provide visibility to leadership without extra effort. Overall, it’s made my sales support role more efficient and less stressful.

 ### 41. Lots of promise, hard to use

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

I see how TPMs at Chewy use Smartsheet intelligently, and it would be awesome if I could figure out how to make it work for our team.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Even simple things, like coloring every other line for easier reading (and easier to spot row # in a sheet with 100s of rows when I need it for predecessor, requires two hidden columns and a long winded conditional formatting role for "evens and odds." Its instances like this that I find myself saying "come on, smartsheet. get with the times." and move to excel or another format. I think the gantt view is basically useless unless you can extend your smartsheet window on two monitors. At the current moment, I'm using SS for multi year roadmapping, and its such a slog trying to get the conditional formatting to update colors for "team assigned" on the gantt chart. If I assign more than one team the color is seemingly random between the teams selected, if it color codes it at all. Additionally, I need this sheet to be collaborative and online. Autosaving and live editing between multiple people is a must for our team, and because smartsheet lacks it, it is miserable to collaborate with others.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently smartsheet allows us the ability to see deliverables/milestones/tasks and a gantt chart on one location, that is nice to have in one spot, versus many,

 ### 42. Flexible, Easy Project Tracking with Real-Time Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is flexible and easy to use for project tracking and collaboration. It helps organize tasks, timelines and dependencies clearly and the real-time updates keep everyone aligned.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Some features have a learning curve and advanced automation or reporting can feel limited without higher-tier plans. It can also become expensive as teams and usage grow.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us solve the challenge of managing projects and workflows in one place. It improves visibility, accountability, and collaboration across the team, making it easier to stay on track and meet deadlines.

 ### 43. Medical Device Inventory Log

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron S. | Inventory and Quality Control, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

1. Easy to set up automation and communication between multiple sheets.

2. The homepage makes organizing and accessing sheets straightforward.

3. Sharing sheets with multiple users is easy; an added bonus is if multiple users are using the same sheet simultaneously updates are processed in a manner that doesn't interrupt the work of other users.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

1. If I am using an automation to move a line of data from one sheet to another, I cannot customize where that data is entered on the new sheet. I have to manually organize my data after the fact.

2. When using a form, I frequently run into an issue where I cannot submit the form. A forced refresh of the page, which requires entering all the data again, is required to submit. I originally thought this was happened if I left the page open too long without any user input, but I have had this happen several times without that being the case.

3. I have had a rare issue when using automation to move data from one sheet to another where the data will be removed from sheet 1, but never show up on sheet 2. I have not been able to reproduce this issue with consistency.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Keeping track of time sensitive tasks by sending out automated alerts about upcoming deadlines.

2. Forms has allowed us to easily process user submissions regarding inventory requests. This has improved our ability to fulfill requests on time but also keep a history of all requests/fulfillment.

3. The ability to easily track a projects progression as it passes through multiple departments. Smartsheet allows us to not only track who is currently working on a project by assigning a user to a specific line, but also move that data to related sheets as tasks are completed.

 ### 44. Smartsheet is a powerful work management platform.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gowdhaman R. | Engineer, Telecommunications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Highly customizable on our projects and a strong support for our teams on enterprise-level projects, it helps in excellent data collection and reporting via forms and dashboards, in case of issues they have a reliable customer support and onboarding resources.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Steeper learning curve for our agents unfamiliar with spreadsheet-style tools, some limitations are there in file previewing and sorting automation, most importantly pricing can be a concern for smaller teams with tight budget.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to build reusable checklists and timelines for my tasks, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Smartsheet lets me create industry-specific demo flows and track which ones resonate most with clients. I also use forms and automated workflows to guide clients through setup steps like integration to our platform. I also di log edits, compare results, and even share workflows with collaborators. Its automation and reporting help me identify bottlenecks and improve turnaround time for support or demo delivery.

 ### 45. Smatsheet is a very useful tool in organizing my to-dos with my team and I advocate for it often.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick R. | Automation Sales Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

The best thing is that for the most part, you can customize it to your liking and there are multiple ways to look at your project.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

I dislike some of the rigidity around customization. I would like the ability to create different fields in the child cards than the parent cards. The card view is hideous in my opinion, the board view is great! The only thing is that when you separate the child cards in board view, having different parameters and some sort of indication of what parent card it belongs to would be helpful.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its solving a gap that Salesforce is terrible at - kanban.

 ### 46. Happy with Smartsheet

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Drew S. | Director IT Infrastructure, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is a better Excel. The automation capability is a great feature.
I use the automation to email updates when changes are made to my sheets and forms.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Sorting is not very capable in Smartsheet. Sorting affects all users of the sheet. I also dislike the sheet selection dialogue where I have to click through folder names to get to the sheet I want.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the things we do with Smartsheet is to track changes to different systems. All users can add entries to the sheet and are notified of changes. The pick lists and cell formatting gives us uniform data from many users. Our change management form became so much more useful when Smartsheet gave us the ability to use pick lists.

 ### 47. Powerful project management tool with some limitations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jakub B. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

The biggest advantage of Smartsheet, when sheets are properly structured, is its intuitiveness and ease of use for less tech-savvy employees. Reports work brilliantly – it’s just a pity that users need access to the source sheet in order to view or edit data within a report. The ability to build complex sheets with formulas, checkboxes, dropdowns, and cross-sheet references proves extremely effective for project and financial management. Automation features, along with reminders and alerts, are also very useful. I also appreciate the integration with Power Automate, which enables the creation of advanced workflows. Additionally, the option to create dynamic dashboards greatly simplifies information management.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

The main drawback is that many advanced features – such as Dynamic View or WorkApps – require additional licensing, which can be a barrier for smaller teams like us. It’s frustrating that there are no intuitive solutions for certain actions, such as “copy row” or “move row” functionality for specific columns instead of the entire sheet. There’s also a lack of more granular access/editing/visibility control levels for individual users (partially addressed by Dynamic Views). With larger sheets, performance issues become significant. On a smaller note – the limited 40-color palette is quite annoying, especially the lack of RGB-based custom color selection 😉

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet helps us centralize and structure project data in a way that’s clear and accessible for both technical and non-technical team members. By using formulas, cross-sheet references, checkboxes, dropdowns, and automations, we’ve replaced dozens of manual spreadsheets, email threads, and scattered tools with a single, scalable workspace. The ability to automate notifications and status updates reduces human error and saves a great deal of time. Even less tech-savvy employees can quickly adapt to the system, which improves overall collaboration and data consistency across departments.

 ### 48. Smartsheet is a Game-Changer for Project Management and Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kiran K. | Estimator & Ass. Reviewer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet is incredibly flexible and user-friendly. I love how easy it is to manage projects, tasks, and timelines all in one place. The ability to create Gantt charts, dashboards, and automated workflows has significantly improved how our team operates. Collaboration is seamless, and I appreciate the version control and activity tracking features that keep everything transparent and accountable.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

While the platform is powerful, there is a bit of a learning curve for new users—especially for those unfamiliar with spreadsheet-style project tools. Also, the mobile app feels slightly limited compared to the desktop version, which can be a challenge when working on the go.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Smartsheet, project updates and team communication were scattered across emails and spreadsheets. Now, everything is centralized, and we’ve saved a lot of time by automating repetitive tasks. Project visibility has drastically improved, allowing stakeholders to stay updated in real-time. It’s helped us deliver projects on time and with fewer errors.

 ### 49. Clean, concise, and reliable software with room for improvement.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet formulas are fairly easy to incorporate into a sheet and reference other sheets/data. The look and feel of the website and app is smooth. Workspaces are helpful and the "Forms" feature is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

Smartsheet limits what values/content you may include in each cell of a sheet. It does not operate like Microsoft Excel - where you may incorporate an image or document into a cell - which took some time to get used to. I wish the cells were a bit more flexible. Also, the "Dashboard" and "Forms" features, while great, do not have much variety in terms of font and theme options. It would be nice to have more options to tailor and customize the Forms and Dashboard spaces.

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smartsheet makes project groups stay on task and meet deadlines. I value the notification features and the ability to invite secure collaborators to the worksheets. We access and manage sensitive information, and I find the security better than some other CRM software.

 ### 50. Tax processes controls

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Smartsheet?**

Dynamic dashboard functionality
Notifications (e-mail) functionality

**What do you dislike about Smartsheet?**

No possibility to change data source on dashboard view (ex. select month in data source with yearly info), need to be changed in the reports or new reports generated
No exchange rate automatic upload functionality
need to generate new report,
there is no functionality to use more than 1 report per dashboard graphic nor to generate a report combining other reports, if they have the same fields we need to generate a new report everytime
The link functionality between sheets does not work, so we need to link the cells one by one

**What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

workflow control of tax returns submission with detail per task, region, entity and person responsible for each task
overview of tax audits occuring worldwide in the group
overview on the tax amounts being submitted

Benefiting: providing overview to global teams on the local teams tasks
