I don't like that I have to make comments on the row and not a single cell. I also don't like that I can't see the edits or go back in time for those after you've left the sheet, as I can only see the edits of a certain cell and not a row. Some of the things just don't make sense to me. The initial setup was rough. I also should be able to resend the emails requesting a decision (to approvers) without resetting the entire workflow. We collect a limited amount of personal information (name and email) in the event the device is not returned after the performance. We use the Sheet conversations to communicate with our employee at the theater(s) and many, many on-off features we have created using internal workflows and outside apps via API. ### 14. Its instances like this that I find myself saying "come on, smartsheet. get with the times." and move to excel or another format. I think the gantt view is basically useless unless you can extend your smartsheet window on two monitors. At the current moment, I'm using SS for multi year roadmapping, and its such a slog trying to get the conditional formatting to update colors for "team assigned" on the gantt chart. If I assign more than one team the color is seemingly random between the teams selected, if it color codes it at all. Additionally, I need this sheet to be collaborative and online. For example I have a workflow sheet where i archive projects onto the same sheet. If I add additional colums or fucntions to the main workflow sheet I have to do this manually to the archive sheet. Only parent sheets and influence linked sheets, not helpful is you use linked sheets for workflow, it would nice if you could select and change how sheets interact with eachother. When i've created rules I have noticed they have a mind of their own. They choose when they want to work. In a recent subscription model change my cost went up 15%. Working for a charity this is not easy to get approval for. When I reach out to smartsheets I got no response, I've had to constantly chase. It's been a month and no closer to getting the answers I require. I do not feel like a valued customer. Quick to contact for sales, not for support. Attaching files to project items in grid view is fairly straightforward including drag-and-drop from outlook. Fairly straightforward to get started and users of excel will find it pretty familiar though with some limitations to functions. Templates are nice but I've not found many that I could use without quite a lot of reworking, it's usually quicker to create my own, however other users may prefer to pick up templates. **What do you dislike about Smartsheet?** Licencing has seemed to be challenging and costly - with recent changes meaning anyone editing even a line in a grid needs a full licence. which makes Smartsheet cost prohibitive for many collaborative projects. Seemingly small functionality missing such as drag-down auto numbering actually ends up taking too much admin time especially with larger projects. No auto-save is a surprise, and has resulted in lost work more than once. Alerts about changes arrive overnight (UK timezone), rather than real-time or batched through the day, and it's unclear if this can be changed. **What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been using it for projects but the licencing changes means that it's actually creating more problems for us now than it is solving, unfortunately. ### 21. For example, the recent announcement of Table View. I logged in and switched to Table View but I couldn't distinguish it from the existing grid view. Neither do I know any explicit benefits that it brings. Previously cannot access in China (maybe because Smartsheet uses cloud server that is blocked by China's firewall). So my China colleagues couldn't use it. For example, compared to Asana, which is very easy to navigate without training, Smartsheet often requires more onboarding and regular consultations to use effectively. One area I miss is a centralized view of all tasks assigned to me across different projects and workspaces, which is something I found very helpful in Asana. Features like multiple project views (Kanban, Gantt, timeline, workflow) are already built into the project structure in Asana, whereas in Smartsheet, they often need to be created and configured separately. Similarly, while Smartsheet does offer automation, I find it a bit more complex and less intuitive to set up than in other tools. As a Project Coordinator, I really appreciated the overview tabs and dashboards in other platforms that are tailored to day-to-day coordination and planning. While we’ve managed to replicate some of this in Smartsheet by building custom reports and task lists, it does require considerable setup time for each project. The new rows can be added to the top or the bottom of the sheet, but if they're at the top, they're above the headers. What you gain in a low learning curve from Excel, you lose in functionality. Dashobards require additional reports and summaries that cause clutter and confusion, Control Center is an administrative nightmare, and linking between sheets is great in theory but confusing as a user because the link is only one-way (Aka. "WHERE DO I EDIT THIS??" is a common question). As a process improvement professional, this is one of my least favorite tools on the market, and I ONLY recommend it if a team's MAIN concern converting users from Excel (rather than better reporting, tracking, etc.). **What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?** Smartsheet is our primary source of truth for our PM Office's projects--open and proposed projects, project status, and reporting.
