SmartPass empowers both students and educators, minimizes classroom disruptions, maximizes instructional time, and makes student management easier and less stressful. With the capacity to create virtual queues, room limits, and prevent specific students from meeting up, schools use SmartPass to streamline class-time management while improving school culture and safety. SmartPass does not require the use of student cell phones and does not use any type of GPS or RFID tracking. Students can use 1:1 devices or room kiosks to create a hall pass—for the bathroom, nurse, counselor, or any number of related needs or activities. I like the ability to limit number of passes and that you can temporarily close down locations. It was super easy to roll out and has an intuitive UI. We use it every day and the few times we've had a question or issue, the customer support is phenomenal. **What do you dislike about SmartPass?** The only issue I have currently is I would like to make a note mandatory when requesting to go to certain places. **What problems is SmartPass solving and how is that benefiting you?** Too many kids hanging out in the bathrooms or coming to the office just to kill time. Now they have to have a digital pass and we can see if they're supposed to be in the halls without having to ask for a paper pass. **Official Response from Lee Barnes`:** > Hi Sabrina, It brings a smile to our faces to hear that SmartPass is helping make students accountable for their behavior. I also like that I can search a student by name. It's very user friendly. **What do you dislike about SmartPass?** The downside of Smart Pass is that students need to have access to a computer to end the Smart Pass. Students sometimes arrive to class and their computers aren't out for use. This leads to false information and extended time on passes. **What problems is SmartPass solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm not aware of what problems are currently being worked on by Smart Pass. **Official Response from Lee Barnes`:** > Hello! In the case where a student does not have a device handy, this feature will automatically end a pass after the timeframe you set. Secondary Educator **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2024 **What do you like best about SmartPass?** Smart Pass has saved me from having to find physical paper passes in the middle of class and makes students more personally responsible for their passes throughout the day **What do you dislike about SmartPass?** There are a number of things that are not part of the base package, Flex Time being one of them as well as the ability to add icons to the SmartPass IDs for students. **What problems is SmartPass solving and how is that benefiting you?** Smart Pass gives our school SOME data about student use of passes. Thank you for taking the time to review SmartPass! I appreciate the feedback around passes not getting closed! Two things that might help with that: 1. Overtime Pass Limits might help. I've linked our support article around this at the bottom of my comment. 2. This can be mitigated with setting the right expectations for students and teachers. Some schools ask students to show teachers their ended passes when the student gets to their destination. Or if they are returning to their classroom, they need to leave their device open as a reminder to end the pass. I hope that helps!
