The context tab is good, when there is actual context there. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** It sometimes groups several segments into one. This makes me automatically hit “enter” when I’m done with the first segment, so I accidentally feed bad translation into the translation memory, since I haven't reviewed the rest yet. When jumping between words using Ctrl + arrow, the cursor ends up at the end of a word rather at the beginning of the next. This is different from how it’s done in Word and creates all sorts of frustration. The tiny jobs are not time efficient and it makes for inconsistent texts, since context might show up in a different job. Big jobs are better, where you have a chance to understand what you’re translating and get an idea of what terminology to use and maybe realize things and go back and make changes after a few hundred words or so. Direct contact with clients is not a great setup. They don’t always answer questions in good time and we translators are more used to communicating with project coordinators. Good TM percentage matches should go before AI matches. Right now it seems AI matches go first. 100% matches from the TM should also auto-propagate. There should be an easy way to say “I’ll do the jobs I have, but I can’t take more” and not just “I’m available or not.” It should be possible to insert individual tags instead of having to highlight the text to insert the tags correctly. I’m fairly used to various online translation software, but this one seems unintuitive and hard to understand. It’s like it’s been created for programmers who understand a certain kind of logic. The "upcoming" list never seems to come up, but other jobs do without no warning or no ability to negotiate deadlines. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm one of the translators. I use Smartling every day and I rarely encounter issues. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** I've difficulty understanding on which workflow I'm working. I think the colors and names used on the dashboard view are not enough to indicate clearly which workflow is used for each job. For example, what is the difference between AI Review and Linguist Review? Why does Foundation appears as Translation? It would be nice if we could know more clearly which rate will be applied to a job before starting working on it. We don't have a direct contact with project managers and usually have to wait several hours before receiving an answer to our emails, which is a problem when there is an urgent deadline. Also, it would be nice to have a feature directly on the dashboard to request a deadline extension. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Smartling allows me to complete my work easily on a user friendly plateform. I can easily view the tasks I've to complete and decline some if I don't have enough availability. As reagrds ease of implementation and integration from a translator's standpoint, I only have to wait for a project manager to include me in a client workteam and to start working as soon as open jobs are posted after glossaries, translation memories, and workflow processes are set up. I have technical support if an issue arises, though I often have to rely on project managers for answers. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** The only dissadvantage I find in its cloud-based system is that there’s no offline mode to work in case of connectivity issues. Also, some traditional CAT tool features like advanced filtering and batch editing are less developed. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Smartling's optimized workflows and automated processes help me complete translations faster and more efficiently. It always works smoothly and the support team is amazing and answers quickly in case you need assistance. They always consider our needs and apply solutions to the CAT Tool and our profile. The CAT Tool itself is very intuitive but in any case, there is plenty of training material available on their website for any case scenario. They have recently applied AI, and we are about to test it with their help. We are sure we will achieve great results! **What do you dislike about Smartling?** Sometimes it is slow and the connector with AEM does not work well. Another thing I don't like is that the interface changes depending on the role and it is difficult to impersonate other roles. However, they developed an impersonate option so we can show and train our users on their specific roles and help them solve issues on their side. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** There is no need to copy and paste translation into our website. There is a connector between Smarlting and AEM, which makes the translation process fast and simple. Translations come back to our pages directly with the same format. Files are easy to find and you can update translations easily. It allows you to use the Smartling Translate tool, which is very handy to get quick translations. You can also impersonate other users for problem-solving or training purposes. The same applies to in-design files. We can also apply DeepL or other machine translation engines directly in the workflow without going outside the CAT Tool. ### 33. Also, it would be great if the platform could work the same way even if the project is over 20 pages. The point which I like most is that the platform eliminates the need for e-mail communication when accepting or declining work. The platform itself is intuitive and doesn’t require much training. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** Quality of AI base translation varies by language pairs. Improper settings by the clients or glossary terms often affect linguistic works negatively, so there should be functions which allows linguists flagging of these to inform clients in the platform. There should be notification settings to opt-out unneeded general notification (Today’s jobs, etc.). **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** ​In addition to providing me with the tool for executing and delivering linguistic works, Smartling helps me to solve problems related to peripheral tasks including communicating with clients and invoicing. ### 44. Plus, the available integration options is constantly growing with plenty of QoL features rolling out. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** Tech issue where LQA features raising false positives and results in blockers. Also, the OCR feature for PDF files still has room for improvements, words may be captured inaccurately and linebreak can be placed at a weird spot. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Continuos LQA setup and automated LQA processes. I have used it for many years and have trouble remembering how it was in the beginning, but I can't recall it ever being very difficult. **What do you dislike about Smartling?** Translator assignment to end-clients seems to be done mostly manually. This means it often gets messed up around vacations, when other translators step in. When you are back you often need to double check and request that you get "your" clients back. A better automatic system would resolve this. **What problems is Smartling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Free access to the Smartling tool is a big benefit over having to invest in Trados or similar other tools. Smartling is also continuously updated, so I don't need to worry about keeping up with new versions. ### 49.
