What do you like best about SmartFTP?

Secure, free FTP client with years of experience. Frequent updates keep it up to date in security and stability. It allows saving frequent connections and the handling is simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SmartFTP?

I don't know if it's common, but in my case, interruptions in file transfers are frequent. It also struggles to reconnect after a connection drop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering SmartFTP:

Being free, you lose nothing by trying it, moreover, I recommend it to you. But it is true that it doesn't offer anything new to what already exists, you won't find any improvement or anything different from other FTP clients of the same style. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SmartFTP solving and how is that benefiting you?

Benefits as such, not many. I think there are better FTP clients or at least it doesn't improve on what we were already using. It is true that it is free, but nothing new compared to the rest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SmartFTP?

It is really very good software, it connects quickly to the remote server and is very easy to use. It has many configuration options that are very useful. The interface is very pleasant and is suitable for people with low expertise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SmartFTP?

It's not free. I'm not against paying for software of this type but I think it's an exaggeration that the minimum version exceeds $ 70, when there are many alternatives that do the same and are free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SmartFTP solving and how is that benefiting you?

This software is very useful, it has allowed me to perform file transfer operations to my remote server without any problem. I dare to say that it is one of the best FTP clients I've tried, it's a pity that it only has a free trial for 30 days and then you have to pay a considerable amount in my opinion. What do you like best about SmartFTP?

Since based on the GUI it's not the best when it comes to just doing on the fly and it's just better to use scp or better yet lftp right out of the command line. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"If you require a Premium FTP client give SmartFTP a try"

What do you like best about SmartFTP?

I love the visual compare feature, where you get a side by side glance of two folders and able to see the difference in their contents.

I'm also a fan of the integrated text editor, this allows for more efficiency when it comes to editing files. This editor also allows for syntax highlighting, among many other features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SmartFTP?

SmartFTP only works with windows, which is unfortunate given that the use of Macs are very popular amongst the Graphic Design community and this ties in for me with my Website Development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SmartFTP?

The local browser mode makes it easy to drag and drop files you want to upload via FTP. smartFTP has all the features of a standard FTP program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is a big learning curve in addition to stability issue with the program.Also if you needs are a basic FTP program this could be too much of a program for a user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Being the issues I had with smartFTP I would consider you try winSCP first. Most of the time it will meed your needs of an FTP program. WinSCP also has regular releases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
