The navigation is clunky. Editing a layout is clunky. The performance lag is unacceptable. The system allowed me to create lots of rules but in doing so the applications I created became too hard for the system to handle - page load times of a minute or more and my judges had numerous complaints about glitchy page loading and lag in the system allowing them to page down. The system should not let me design something it cannot handle. Creating views vs reports - I evenutally figured out the benefits of one vs the other and was told by cust support that they are working to improve that / reduce confusion but certain things should be designed as standard templates for views and ease of reviewing applications. SmarterSelect has met all of our needs for application collection and evaluation, and we are about to launch report collection within the system as well. As an organization new to grantmaking, the SmarterSelect team was beyond helpful in identifying where it could meet our needs. SmarterSelect works for us in executing applications and evaluations for an annual scholarship of about $150,000 total funds. I fear at a larger level, there might be issues with reporting on multiple facets of data. However, it is simple, easy to navigate for most users, and we have no real complaints at this time. We have been using SmarterSelect for a few years now and our scholarship review committee finds it really easy to access and evaluate our candidates. It's also very easy for our students to create an account, complete an online application, save and come back to their application as often as they need to before submitting it. As the program administrator, I appreciate that everything we need is in one tool, application, evaluation and selection/notification. The customer support and training have been very helpful, as well. We can always reach out with one-off questions and know we will be responded to very quickly.
