Mainly, I use the mechanical and piping diagram templates. The simple interface makes it very easy to use. I really like that you can make your own symbols and save it in a library for later use. I like how it is website based aswell, it does not take any physical storage, only cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The symbol library is missing some symbols. Since i am from australia, some symbols might be different and i will need to draw my own symbols. The line snaps are also hard to use sometimes, the lines would snap to something else instead of the one i wanted to, and it is very hard to adjust. The aligning tool could be a bit more intellect and accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of access, the general availability to produce whatever you need, the simplicity of the pre-programmed designs, shapes and functions. The ability to save multip projects and integrate across multiple platforms. The customer service is phenomenal, it is very easy to get in touch with someone and getting responses are generally same day. The access to account reps and the help desk is unmatched with other online softwares. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I would change is having more options for construction-related items that you would find more on CAD drawings and having the ability to save more documents on the site vs. using our own cloud storage. Other than that, it is perfect and meets our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is the best software to track the progress of the Software and also very helpful to create design structures during the development stages. We regularly use to create DFDs and UML . Also our time division of various SDLC cycle is made with SmartDraw. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dont think there is anything to bad about SmartDraw. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simple, intuitive and easy to implement as a scale drawing tool is fast. Unless designing for machine 3d fab, this is all I need as a DESIGN ENGINEER. Do not need IT headaches or gliches in wiz bang software. I have about 60 hours of using this now and love it for its simplicity. Flexible on how information is displayed without locking my creative talents in an IT box. Does not penalize the user for experimenting. Customer support responded to me on a weekend and after hours - very nice. One click and application starts then one more click on my project and my design is right where I left it. Use this platform 4-6 times a day. Super simple to save as other file types to get images to others for review. I like to do my calcs on separate applications then paste completed tables into the Smart Draw project so do not want an integrated complicated application. My recommendation to Smart Draw developers is spend time creating objects that are useful to pluck and keep this platform SIMPLE like it is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No dislikes for what it is which is a simple platform for scale drawings for the common person needing a simple CAD application. Takes maybe 10 minutes to get going and then by experimenting, more skills are naturally developed for each user's needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We appreciate the increased efficiency and ease in creating flowcharts with this tool. It became clear that transitioning away from using Microsoft Office for flowchart creation was a much-needed improvement. The platform simplifies the process, allowing us to design and edit flowcharts with significantly fewer clicks than our previous methods. Additionally, it reduces the frustration of aligning elements and enhances the readability of flowcharts, especially for presentations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't have any significant dislikes to mention. As I mentioned earlier, we transitioned from using Microsoft Office for creating flowcharts, which wasn’t the most efficient tool for the task. If I were to suggest a feature, it would be the ability for the software to automatically insert an arrow to the adjacent box. While this could offer small efficiency gains, I also recognize that it might introduce challenges by making assumptions about the flow of a process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use SmartDraw to create floor plans for my contracting business to send to clients. The software is easy to use. Easy to learn. And looks professional. It comes with a wide range of symbols to choose from, a variety of lines, shapes, colours and much more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I havent found anything I dislike about SmartDraw so far. Yes the software was easy to learn but that said depending on how computer savey you are will alter your experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Before I say anything...I must say that I have never had any of my professional tools or apps', customer service respond over a holiday weekend. Specially, since the customer service representative was the CEO of the company! Steve Peterson, is an example for any company and any customer service rep., he is TOP NOTCH in my book. And, he resolved the problem within minutes.
Now, a review.
One of the things I personally like best about smartdraw, is the ease of use. In comparasion to the typical visio or lucidchart , which I have used in my career, smartdraw, is very easy to use. In addition, it can be utilized across many types of drawings and sectors. "There is a time and place for everything". Smartdraw is my immediate "go-to" for conceptualizing, as well as for creating a quick and easy render of a though process. For me, for years, it has been very useful.
I recommend smartdraw to everyone form beginners to professionals.
Here are some of the pros of using SmartDraw:
Pros:
Wide Range of Templates: SmartDraw offers a vast library of templates and examples which can be easily customized. This includes flowcharts, organizational charts, network diagrams, and more, making it versatile for various needs.
Intuitive Interface: The tool is designed to be user-friendly, with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface that makes it accessible even for those without a technical background.
Integration Capabilities: SmartDraw integrates with other tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and more, allowing users to export and share their diagrams easily across platforms.
Automatic Formatting: The software automatically adjusts and aligns shapes and texts, facilitating a professional look for diagrams without requiring extensive manual effort.
Availability: It is available both as a desktop application and online, offering flexibility depending on user preference or IT constraints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish this question was not asked of me. Specially after leaving Steve an exemplorary stellar review on his SmartDraw apllication. However, it was asked, and candor is my middle name.
Cons are:
Cost: Compared to some other diagramming tools, SmartDraw can be relatively expensive, especially for small businesses or individual users.
Complexity for Advanced Features: While basic functions are easy to use, some advanced features may require a steeper learning curve or might be less intuitive.
Limited Customization in Some Areas: While SmartDraw is highly flexible, certain elements might not be as customizable as with some specialized software, which could be a limitation for users with very specific needs.
Proprietary File Format: The native file format is proprietary, which might limit sharing and compatibility with users who do not use SmartDraw. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how easy it measures everything, it gives me a scale and number. Its easily converts the inches when I input the numbers. It is also amazing how I can use color to highlight whatever I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some downsides is that I cant do 3D ground plans and print in any perspective I would like. I wish it was not only 2D. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simple, easy to use drafting software, suitable for a DIY home renovation project, for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The two major problems are the annual subscription requirement (no monthly available) and being locked out of existing drawings if you don't renew the annual subscription. I think this is especially a problem considering the software is best suited for more casual uses. And since there isn't a monthly subscription, you can't just renew at a small cost to get your old work back. Make a feature where existing documents can be downloaded as a zip file or something equivalent, or allow a monthly subscription option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the ability to drag & drop unlimited items & very big to very little scallability of the workspace on the paid plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Subscription is yearly. It does not always load the fastest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
