I dislike it so much I took the time to log into G2 and write this review. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** The UI is absolutely horrendous. It is not easy to build org or flow charts at all. It's about as clunky as it gets and nothing makes sense - that's after using it for 4 years. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. You'll lose your work when you don't renew subscription **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024 **What do you like best about SmartDraw?** Simple, easy to use drafting software, suitable for a DIY home renovation project, for example. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** The two major problems are the annual subscription requirement (no monthly available) and being locked out of existing drawings if you don't renew the annual subscription. I think this is especially a problem considering the software is best suited for more casual uses. And since there isn't a monthly subscription, you can't just renew at a small cost to get your old work back. Make a feature where existing documents can be downloaded as a zip file or something equivalent, or allow a monthly subscription option. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fills market need for very simple architectural drafting **Official Response from Steve Peterson:** > We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns about the annual subscription requirement. SmartDraw review **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2021 **What do you like best about SmartDraw?** I don't think there is anything that I like specificaly. Things are pritty standard, nothing exciting here. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** That I am forced to use templates when I start a new file, basic shapes are lousy, zoom controls, I have to turn off spell check every time, theme colors are boring, line snapping is a joke, rotating shapes has problems, all tools feel extremely rigid, shape libraries are from 2003 and very few of them have anything remotely usable, straight lines that aren't straight, moving around the document is clumsy, object group behaviour is unpredictable, can't define a specific paper size so I know how big it will come out when printed, when I want to minimize the SmartDraw windows i have to press the _ button, I can't minimize it from taskbar, precision movement of objects is nonexistent, ... There's a lot more complaints but I guess I can't remember them all at the moment. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** Just get Visio. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problems of: I need to make an image of something that can be made with basic shapes, some lines and some text. Many to choose from. If you're looking to put someone together with very little time, then this software is for you. Infographics come basically made to print. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** There really isn't that much to choose from when you get down to it. Yes there is a lot there but many of the graphs are so specific that I could never see myself ever having use for them. I also found that the graphs are so specific that customizing them is extremely hard. There were also many issues with choosing colors, margins, and text.
