## About Slate
The ultimate content creation platform for brands on social media. Traditional creation tools haven’t caught up to the realities businesses face in today’s social media landscape, which is why we built Slate. Slate changes the way brands create social media content and transforms a once fragmented process into a single-tool, easy to use solution. Social creators can produce content in seconds from a creation app using custom branded fonts, colors, filters, graphics and animations that are controlled by brand and design teams through a dedicated web portal.

## Slate Reviews
 ### 1. Flexible Video Editing with Minor Audio Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Igor A. | Founder & Host, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Slate?**

I like the new features a lot, especially being able to edit and be very flexible with changing some of the templates. I like that a lot. Also, I like the updates for video where we can have the video be in a different speed; that's definitely a game changer for me. I also like how we can share the screen and things like that. The initial setup was pretty easy and very simple.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

I think everything overall got much better, but the only thing I could flag is when doing a split screen with two videos, there's no sound. I cannot pick a video to have its sound, so that's kind of complicated. That's the only thing I have.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slate helps me ensure everything is on brand during game days. It simplifies editing and engages followers.

 ### 2. Slate is a Great Tool for Creatives

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

I think Slate has a lot of really cool capabilities and customization options for an organization. The options to customize text, colors, and fonts on social posts are huge in keeping a consistent brand image.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

I think some of the tools on Slate could be a little bit more user friendly, especially the Templates feature. We've also had some trouble getting people who are not necessarily creatives by trade to hop on board and actually utilize the product.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slate lets us share templates and assets with people within and outside of our creative team in a much easier way. It allows our teams to create one-off, simple graphics in a quick and easy way, freeing up workloads for our design team.

 ### 3. Slate is a non-designer Social Media Managers best friend.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chas T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

Slate has allowed our global organization to quickly and easily create and approve reactive social assets with ease. Even the less design-inclined were able to use it without a steep learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

A young platform, Slate has some bugs that can make larger design tasks a bit of a challenge. The desktop application in particular leaves room for the most improvement.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Global organization with social media managers located all over, we struggled to maintain our brand design standards in our reactive social media content. We cover lots of live events in real-time and never found the right way to get everyone on the same page. Slate provided our social media managers with templates, filters, gifs, and creation tools all in one application that could easily be leveraged to create real-time content without the need for a designer.

 ### 4. Slate is great for keeping brand standards consistant on social media!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

Slate is great for a handful of reasons including helping teams stick with their brand standards while also allowing them to use specialty fonts, backgrounds, and stickers.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

One downside of slate is that you have to create all filters online and then upload them onto your account. It would be cool if you could create filters on the app or if there were pregenerated filters that you could use your brand standards to autogenerate filters.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On instagram stories it helps us keep our brand standards by allowing us to use our font and colors.

 ### 5. Great Program, but could use some more features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Addison F. | Social Media Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

The ability to swap between the mobile app and the computer website is what makes this app shine the most. Being able to easily create a filter or template from my computer and then upload it for mobile usage is super useful especially when trying to create content on the go, or with a fast flip time.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

The app could be a bit more convenient. Requiring items to be an exactly a certain size and ppi can be frustrating, especially when ppi will automatically be adjusted on most apps. The stability of both the site and app is questionable as well. Having to manually save everything has to be the biggest downfall of Slate, and often times, me and my crew found that even when we did manually save, the program would not save our changes when refreshed. There absolutely needs to be an autosave feature. The ability to create filters in Slate is also very clunky and needs a fair bit of work, although I think it is currently still in beta.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slate has created a program that allows people that aren't creatives to post things with custom filters and backgrounds on social media just by using their phone. This is super beneficial because not only does the app result in faster turn times for live social media content, but also allows those who do not know how Photoshop or Canva works to easily go in an add a quick photo to post. Without this app, most content would probably be uploaded to a computer, dragged into a Photoshop template, exported through a Google Drive, and then uploaded through a phone.

In addition to this, the border guides for social media are extremely helping in understanding what will and will not show on Instagram pages, etc.

**Official Response from Eric Stark:**

> Thank you so much for the detailed and productive feedback. We brought up this review during our product feedback meeting with myself, our CEO and our product team to discuss. Here are some specifics related to your feedback:

1. Ppi/sizing of assets: We actually hadn't received this feedback before but it makes total sense. We're going to explore ways the platform can be more flexible to ingest assets of different sizes / resolutions and take more burden off the customer to size correctly.

2. Stability: This is always a top top top priority for us and something we track daily, especially since so many of our customers use us in real-time during high leverage events. We definitely would want to dig in with you on where you notice issues and get to the bottom of it because it's not something we hear often and not something we want to put on the back burner.

3. Auto-save: We totally agree this is a very necessary feature edition. We recently released the ability to save draft so when you refresh you can still access old draft, but its not automatic. Auto-saving comes next and it's moving high up the roadmap.

4. Filters: I believe you are referring to our new PSD templates feature which is in beta. You are correct it's still in testing phase, but we're making improvements to release it out of beta soon!

 ### 6. Ease of use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

 ### 7. UFC Social Slate Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan N. | Social Media Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2023

The variety of features and tools you can upload into the app help make the process of making quality looking stories very easy.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

The app runs into issues with exporting fairly frequently.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps make the overall look and feel of our Instagram and slap stories much more premium

 ### 8. Slate for DII clients

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon W. | Adjunct Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Slate?**

Simplicity, functionality, and live event coverage.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

Cost can be a dealbreaker, but worth it. You NEED a graphic designer on staff that can turn around content quickly. Wish there was the ability to layer multiple pieces of media. Wish there were folders for content to organize within each account. Wish there was more startup content ready for us. Wish it synced with SharePoint for media.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to keep our brand consistent for all sports. Be faster and simple for coaches and students to use rather than experts. Creating more sponsored inventory on social media.

 ### 9. User-friendly and creative platform for social media content creation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

Slate offers various options to include customized graphics, filters, and editable templates on social media content. It's made generating content in real time easy and efficient

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

I wouldn't say it's a dislike, but just some suggestions on features to add such as integration for scheduling and a simpler way to organize multiple sports across one athletic department

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Slate team is open to taking feedback and is constantly adding new features that benefit the platform and its users

**Official Response from Bailey Hand:**

 ### 12. Slate Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Slate?**

I love the ability to use custom fonts, templates, colors, and additional elements to quickly create branded content on my phone.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

One thing that is tough with Slate for my team is the inability to share drafts across devices. It would be nice if I could save a draft and have a team member access that to continue editing on their own device.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slate helps solve the issue of not being able to always have a laptop with me at work. I can quickly edit content through slate to upload on social.

 ### 13. Slate makes social easy!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Slate?**

We use slate when we're posting live game day updates on social. It is useful when we have multiple people managing the social media so our posts are uniform and it appears only one person is posting.

**What do you dislike about Slate?**

Switching between the apps is sometimes tricky but it is inevitable.

**What problems is Slate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slate makes it so we have multiple people posting at once but it appears as if only one person is posting.
