## About Slack Canvas

Slack Canvas is a built-in document surface within Slack that enables teams to create, organize, and share information—all without leaving their workspace. Rather than switching between separate note-taking or wiki tools, Slack Canvas gives every channel and direct message a persistent, collaborative space where knowledge can be captured, curated, and acted upon in context. At its core, Canvas supports a wide range of content types: rich text with headers, block quotes, and bulleted lists; embedded files, images, audio, and video; checklists and tables; link unfurls with rich previews from third-party apps; and profile cards for team members. This flexibility makes it suitable for everything from simple meeting notes and to-do lists to comprehensive project briefs, sales account plans, employee onboarding guides, and marketing campaign hubs. One of Canvas's defining capabilities is its deep integration with Slack's Workflow Builder. Teams can embed no-code automations directly inside a canvas, making workflows discoverable and actionable right where the relevant context lives. For example, a corporate policy canvas can include a button to submit a PTO request or file an IT ticket—eliminating the need to hunt across multiple apps. Canvas steps in Workflow Builder also allow teams to automatically create, update, and share canvases as part of larger automated processes, such as spinning up a new project channel complete with a pre-populated canvas. Canvas also connects to external systems of record. Through link unfurls and native integrations, teams can pull in live data from tools like Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud), Jira, Figma, and Tableau, turning a canvas into an interactive, always-current dashboard. Users can refresh data and take action on records directly within the canvas, reducing context switching. Collaboration is built into every canvas. Multiple team members can co-edit simultaneously, leave inline comments that behave like threaded messages, react with emoji, and @mention colleagues to trigger notifications. Revision history is maintained so teams can track changes over time. Canvases can be shared with granular view or edit permissions, sent to specific channels or individuals, and even brought into Slack Huddles for live, synchronous review and editing sessions. To help teams get started quickly, Slack Canvas includes a template gallery with pre-built layouts for common use cases such as employee onboarding, monthly newsletters, out-of-office coverage plans, and sales enablement hubs. Enterprise Grid customers can also create and publish custom templates pre-populated with CRM data and built-in automations, enabling standardized, scalable knowledge management across large organizations. From a security and compliance standpoint, canvases adhere to Slack's existing security practices and work with tools such as Enterprise Key Management (EKM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, data retention policies, and legal hold. Canvas data is exportable and fully auditable via the Discovery API and Audit Logs API. Slack Canvas is available to all Slack users. Free plan users can access canvases in channels, while paid plan users unlock unlimited standalone canvases and canvases in direct messages. Enterprise Grid customers gain access to advanced features including custom templates, canvas analytics, and enhanced compliance controls.

"A Reliable Tool for Everyday Teamwork"

5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

Slack has become an essential part of our day-to-day collaboration. The interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate conversations, channels, and shared resources. I also appreciate the wide range of integrations, which help streamline workflows and reduce context switching between tools. Performance is generally reliable, even with large teams and active channels, and the AI-powered features are becoming increasingly useful for summarizing discussions and finding information quickly. Overall, Slack delivers strong value by improving communication, productivity, and team collaboration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

Slack delivers a strong collaboration experience, but some of the more advanced features are locked behind higher-tier plans, which may not fit every organization’s budget. The AI features look promising overall, yet there’s still room to improve the accuracy and practical usefulness of summaries, especially when conversations become more complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack has made it much easier for me to stay connected with colleagues and keep track of discussions, decisions, and updates all in one place. Its integrations with other tools cut down on context switching, and being able to quickly reach the right people helps work move forward faster and more efficiently. "Clean, Intuitive Interface That Keeps Client Collaboration Organized"

5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

What I like most about Slack is its clean, intuitive interface and the way it’s organized. It makes client communication much easier. Tracking which requests are still pending with a client is simple, because one dedicated channel keeps everything in one place: conversations, files, and updates. There’s no digging through long email threads.

It’s the best platform I’ve used for collaborating with clients, their teams, and others working on a similar project. Everyone stays on the same page, and work moves faster.

If you’d like, I can also make a shorter version for a review site’s character limit, or a more formal one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

Notifications can get overwhelming, especially when you’re in several client channels at once. Important messages are easy to miss among the constant pings, and it takes some effort to set up notification preferences so you aren’t distracted all day.

Older messages and files can also be hard to find. Search works, but in busy channels, past requests and decisions get buried over time. The free plan limits message history, so you may need a paid plan to keep a full record of client conversations.

Threads help keep conversations organized, but they’re easy to overlook if people reply in the main channel instead, and that can make it harder to follow a discussion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack solves the problem of scattered communication. Before using it, client conversations were spread across emails, calls, and messages, which made it easy to lose track of requests and decisions. With Slack, each client has a dedicated channel where messages, files, and updates all live in one place.

It also cuts down on confusion around pending work. I can quickly see which requests are still open with a client without digging through long email chains, so nothing slips through the cracks.

For me, the biggest benefit is faster, clearer communication with clients and their teams. Responses come in quicker than over email, everyone involved in a project stays aligned, and I spend less time chasing updates and more time getting the work done. It’s also made collaboration with people working on similar projects much smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slack Makes Team Communication Simple and Fast Across Devices"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

What I like about Slack is that it’s easy to set up and really simple to use day to day. I like that my chats, direct messages, and personal notes can be organized into different channels, which helps keep everything clear and easy to find. It works smoothly on desktop, in the browser, and on my mobile phone. It also responds quickly, and instead of writing long emails, we can easily share links, files, or quick updates here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

One thing I don’t like is that the desktop app takes up too much RAM memory, and because of that my PC sometimes starts responding slowly. Also, the notifications can be distracting at times if they aren’t set up properly. Apart from that, when I need to search for an old file or link, it can become tricky and take longer than it should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

For quick questions and messy, cluttered email threads, it’s very beneficial and has replaced email for me completely. I can keep everything organized in one place: I can connect with people, save important links, and track my daily workflow all in the same spot. Also, people sometimes reply late to emails compared to chats, so it saves time there as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Organized and Convenient Team Communication"

4/5

What do you like best about Slack?

I like Slack because it makes team communication more organized and convenient. Channels help keep group discussions focused on specific topics, while direct messages make it easy to connect with team members for quick updates. I also appreciate having conversations and shared information in one place, which makes it easier to stay informed and coordinate work without unnecessary confusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

I sometimes find it hard to keep track of important information while having many active conversations at once. I think that the notification system could be a bit more customizable, especially considering that I'm part of several active channels. It would be good if there were some ways to prioritize my messages so that I could focus on the ones that matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use the Slack for team communications and interactions about projects. Prior to the use of Slack, it was hard to keep track of updates that were scattered among various groups and chats. Using Slack allows me to join specific topic-based channels, ask questions, make updates, and even refer back to previous chats. It helps to stay updated, coordinate activities better, and not miss any crucial information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slack Makes Team Communication and Collaboration Effortless"

5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

What I like best about Slack is how easy it makes communication and collaboration with my team. I can organize conversations into channels, share files, and find previous messages without having to search through endless emails. I also like how quickly I can get updates and respond to questions, which helps keep daily tasks organized and makes teamwork more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

What I dislike about Slack is that it can get overwhelming when there are too many channels and constant notifications throughout the day. Sometimes important messages get buried in busy conversations, and I have to spend extra time searching for them. I also think some features could be easier to navigate, but overall, it's a useful tool for keeping teams connected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack helps solve the problem of scattered communication and long email threads by bringing team conversations, file sharing, and updates into one place. I find it easier to coordinate with colleagues, ask questions, and keep track of ongoing tasks without constantly switching between different tools. It saves time, makes collaboration smoother, and helps everyone stay on the same page, especially when managing multiple projects at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slack Makes Team Communication Easier"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

I find it quite easy to maintain communication on Slack since everything is neatly organized. The use of channels allows one to separate different discussions depending on what they are about, while direct messaging is more convenient to use when there is a need for instant communication. It is also convenient to use it because one can easily send files and search past discussions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

At times, I have found Slack overwhelming due to too many channels and many notifications. Essential messages tend to be lost amidst all the chatter, making it difficult to trace them quickly. Another issue that I see with Slack is that it may take time to figure out how to manage notifications and organize channels for a new user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Slack to centralize all my conversation and updates in one location. I feel that it is useful for file sharing, posing inquiries, and connecting with others in my team. The channels allow me to stay updated on different subjects without the clutter. Another benefit of using Slack is the ability to look back at past messages in order to retrieve any relevant data. "Easy Small-Team Communication and Collaboration with Slack"

4/5

What do you like best about Slack?

Slack makes communication and collaboration easy, especially when working with a small team. I like being able to organize conversations by channels, share files, and keep project discussions in one place. Even with the free plan, it provides a useful way to coordinate tasks and stay connected without adding unnecessary complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

The main downside is that the free plan has limitations, especially when it comes to accessing older message history and keeping all project information available in one place. As conversations grow, it can become harder to find previous decisions or information. Still, Slack works well for day-to-day communication and collaboration within a small team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack helps us centralize team communication and project discussions instead of relying on scattered messages and emails. It makes it easier to coordinate tasks, share updates, ask questions, and collaborate with our intern remotely. This reduces communication overhead and helps us keep project work organized, even as a small team using the free plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slack Makes Team Communication and Collaboration Easy"

4/5

What do you like best about Slack?

What I like most about Slack is the way it makes it easy to have communications with people and keep you updated on what's happening. When working on technical issues or collaborating on tasks, it makes it helpful by having channels that help organize the communications into easy-to-find chunks that can be shared easily with colleagues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

I hate it when several channels and conversations are active at the same time; Slack can get overwhelming to maneuver. This means that important messages can at times get buried in the heap of less urgent conversations, resulting in extra time spent catching up with high-priority notifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem that Slack is solving for me is the centralization of scattered communications. Now I don't have to keep up to date with conversations happening in WhatsApp, emails, etc. Slack centralizes everything. Channels have also helped how we follow up on different discussions and conversations, particularly when it involves technical tasks or working with a team that has different responsibilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Simple Way to Keep Team Communication Organized"

4/5

What do you like best about Slack?

I like how slack helps me to stay in touch with my team and have all our project's communication in one place. With channels, you can share information and ideas about the project by asking questions, sharing news, and much more. It is easy to navigate and helps the team to communicate better and more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

One of the things that I don’t like about the Slack is that it may seem a bit overwhelming at the beginning due to the number of channels and conversations. It can take a while for someone to find what they need. In addition, I believe there should be more control over notifications as some of them may be distracting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Slack, keeping project discussions and updates organized across different conversations could be confusing. Slack gives us a common place to communicate, share updates, and discuss project-related tasks. Using channels helps keep conversations organized and makes it easier to find relevant information when needed. It is useful for coordinating with team members and keeping everyone updated on project progress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slack Keeps Work Conversations Organized and Quick"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Slack?

I like that Slack gives work conversations their own space. We have different channels for different topics, so I don't have to scroll through one huge chat trying to find something someone mentioned a few days ago.

I also like how easy it is to ask a quick question without making it a whole thing. Sometimes you just need someone to confirm a detail or send you a file, and Slack is perfect for that. It's become a pretty normal part of my working day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

Sometimes Slack gets a little too noisy. When several channels are active at the same time, I end up getting notifications about conversations that don't really need my attention.

I've muted a few channels to keep things manageable, but then there's always a chance I'll miss something useful. It's not a huge problem, just something I wish was a little easier to balance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem Slack solves for us is keeping everyday communication in one place. Before, it was easy for a small question or an important detail to get lost between emails and different chats.

Now we can discuss things in the right channel, share files and come back to a conversation later if we need to check something. I especially appreciate this when several people are involved in the same project.

It doesn't completely replace meetings or email, but it makes the small everyday things much easier to manage. We spend less time looking for information and more time actually getting work done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
