Slack is a mature and a stable platform that provides one of the best area for team collaboration, I have used slack on multiple occasions for client projects that required it as a primary communication tool - and I have felt no problem with using it, In fact it had best features for keeping track of the communication. I'd appreciate if the UI to manage the channels and notification improved a bit One more thing I want slack to improve is that I have integrated many AI triaging chatbots into slack channels, during testing phase, I will be triggering It multiple time to check the AI response, to my knowledge there isn't a easier way to delete the message that are sent by the AI bot apart from triggering a delete function via code.. but I would rather prefer a dedicated UI for efficiently achieving that intent. I like how organized Slack makes team communication compared with traditional email or scattered messaging apps. Channels keep conversations focused, and the interface is clean enough that I can manage multiple projects at once without it feeling overwhelming. Integrations are easily one of Slack’s biggest strengths. Connecting tools like Google Drive, Notion, GitHub, Jira, and Zoom makes workflows smoother because updates and notifications stay centralized in one place instead of being spread across different platforms. Performance has been reliable overall, with messages syncing quickly across desktop and mobile. The search functionality is also genuinely useful when I need to track down older conversations or locate shared files. Onboarding is straightforward, so new team members usually adapt quickly without much training. Support and documentation have been solid as well whenever we’ve needed help. The AI features are still evolving, but the summaries and search assistance are already helpful for catching up on long discussions and reducing information overload. What do you dislike about Slack? One thing I dislike about Slack is that it can become noisy very quickly in larger teams. Too many channels and constant notifications sometimes make it harder to focus instead of improving productivity. Performance is generally good, although the desktop app can occasionally become resource-heavy, especially when running alongside other work tools. Another downside is pricing. In the past, I used Slack for just about everything, but my current company is a Microsoft Teams environment. With the recent announcements about removing messages after 90 days, I’m being forced to rely more on emails in Outlook, which is pretty cumbersome, and doesn't allow for the ability to edit easily if I hit send too soon. It acts like a glue between engineering, product, and support for us. The go-to for us is incident channels, instead of a chaotic call with a dozen people, we spin up a small channel with just the four people who need to be there, and the thread doubles as a postmortem. The integrations are one of the biggest thing we need . connecting tools like guithub , jira , ggogle drive etc helps reduce context switching and keepswupdates centrallized. From a performance perspective , slack generaly feels responsive and reliable for daily communication , file sharing and quick collaboration. I also liked the onboardind experience beacuse it is easy to set up and begginner friendly. Instead of relying only on email, texts, meetings, or verbal updates, Slack gives our team one central place for quick questions, updates, announcements, and coordination. It benefits us by making communication faster and easier to track in the moment. Team members can reach the right people quickly, organize conversations by topic or department, and reduce the amount of back-and-forth email needed for simple updates. It also helps staff stay more connected, especially when people are working in different programs, locations, or schedules. Slack is especially helpful for time-sensitive coordination, quick team updates, and keeping conversations organized by channel. I like Slack's easy navigation, making it a super simple messaging app within the team. The Huddl feature is valuable for me as it facilitates easy communication through video calls with team members, which is much easier than going back and forth with messages. I'm frustrated because Slack cuts off my Huddles, showing a message that my internet connection is bad even though I have a very good internet connection with high speed and no latency issues. Slack helps me kick-start conversations with fellow colleagues and share the required details with stakeholders and the business team. It also makes it easy to find older chats quickly, without compromising performance. Slack provides the ability to start a group or channel and then kick off a thread or discussion whenever it’s needed. It also offers video calls, screen sharing, and audio calls, which help us engage with teammates and take quicker action. Group conversations can be locked as well, which adds privacy when required. Integration with external apps is also possible, such as Zoom, Google Drive, and more. The Slack Help Center provides immediate support for open items or issues that need to be addressed. As a business user of slack , locked private conversation does not have the ability to share to other stakeholders in case of certain context awareness that was needed.
