Slack makes communication fast, organized, and easy to manage. I like how conversations are structured into channels, which keeps discussions focused and reduces clutter compared to email. It’s also great for real-time collaboration, whether it’s quick updates, file sharing, or jumping on huddles. On top of that, the integrations and search functionality make it easy to keep track of information and stay aligned with the team.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack can get overwhelming, especially when you’re part of multiple active channels. Important updates can easily get buried under constant notifications, and it takes effort to stay on top of everything. Search can also be hit or miss when you’re trying to find specific messages or files. Additionally, too many integrations and notifications can become distracting rather than helpful if not managed well.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack has been instrumental in bridging communication gaps in a remote work environment. Working with a distributed team, it provides a centralized space where conversations, updates, and files are easily accessible, helping everyone stay aligned regardless of location or time zone.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack is a communication tool specifically built for businesses, making it more organized than other apps like WhatsApp. I appreciate the way Slack divides conversations into different channels based on discussion topics, preventing old chats from getting messy. Also, it provides options for sending business documents like photos and videos, which makes communication more resourceful. Sharing digital details with the team is crucial before making major decisions, and Slack provides a platform where everyone can see the current data and give their inputs. Additionally, I found the initial setup to be easy.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

In the free version, accessing old files and messages is not allowed; you have to buy a subscription to get access to all these data. Also, sometimes constant chatting reduces our focus from the actual issue.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I think the UI and the interface of Slack are great, and it's really easy to use. I love that you can just copy and paste a document or a picture directly into Slack. It's amazing how you can create separate threads to keep conversations organized. It helps me keep two conversations on different lines at the same time. The ability to share documents quickly is particularly valuable in my recruiting job when I need fast feedback. Also, I find it very easy to spot the chats on the user interface, especially with my frequent contacts.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think a lot of times the integrations are like, you need to give a lot of different types of integration authorization. If I want to send a Zoom link to someone I'm chatting with, I don't know how many time I need to authorize Zoom. For third-party integrations, that can definitely be smoother.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the problem of connecting with my colleagues through informal chats like Huddles, sharing documents quickly, and creating threads to keep conversations organized. It simplifies communication, making it easy to ask questions and clarify information efficiently.

Slack is a really good tool for workforce management. It works well for communication, and I see it as a strong alternative to Microsoft Teams.

It doesn’t let me add a background in meetings the way I need to. I have to go into the settings just to add a background for my video, and that’s a really bad user experience.

One of the best tools for team communication. It’s effortless and smooth, and really good for small teams. It has channels, and we can integrate Slack with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude.

I really enjoy the emoji and react functions in Slack. They let me express my emotions and opinions without having to type out a message. It's just an interactive tool that makes communication feel happy and lets me react to messages easily when someone says something in a public group. Plus, the setup of Slack was super user-friendly, easy to install, and everything worked perfectly. It's great for connecting everyone, including both internal team members and external partners, keeping us all on the same page.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I use Slack primarily as a day-to-day communication tool at work. It's great for calling, talking, and sharing information easily with various clients using workspaces. What I like most about Slack is that it's a very easy-to-use messenger, and I enjoy using emojis. I also appreciate being able to react to messages and have huddles easily. Slack is easier to use than other platforms and doesn't require any specific account, which is a big plus. The initial setup was very easy too; joining a workspace allows access to all related channels.

Messages sometimes don't get read despite marking as read. It's probably a mobile app issue. Tapping on mark read doesn't mark the read.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I came here to update my opinion but after reading what I wrote in the past, it is still the very same:

Among the communication software I've used, Slack is definitely the most complete, intuitive, and has a beautiful interface. I can't think of any areas for improvement... The ability to create channels with people both inside and outside my organization is amazing! Being able to make individual or group calls, share screens, connect with Google Calendar. Overall, I think it's great!

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sometimes my Slack settings just randomly get messed up. For example, the Google Calendar integration that updates my status according to my schedule. Out of nowhere it stops working, and when I open the settings it says it’s active, but in reality it isn’t. Another issue is that my Slack no longer plays sound notifications, even though it’s configured to do so. I’d say these two things have been bothering me a bit hehe 😅

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work in a 100% remote company, so it's solving the issue of distance between team members. It benefits me because I can easily get in touch with my colleagues and clients.

Slack is the best communication tool when it comes to getting your team on the same page. The ability to have convos by channel, attaching necessary content docs for review is an instance time saver.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I’m not a big fan of notification alerts or the sounds they make (I turned these off back in 2013), or of feeling like I need to instantly answer questions in Slack channels. I think you need time to think through your response and be more mindful, rather than reacting immediately.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack is great when you need a new team member to get up to speed. Instantly adding them to specific channels lets them absorb previous conversations, which is meaningful for the existing team and helps them understand the context quickly. We say it’s like “drinking from the firehose,” but at least you can control how much you consume.

I like Slack because it replaces scattered emails and messages with a single, clean, searchable workspace. Conversations stay organized by channel, and files and decisions are easy to find later. The integrations (Google Drive, Jira, Asana, etc.) also help turn it into a real command center for teams.

It reduces friction, too: you can go from a quick message to a call, share a file, or loop someone in instantly without breaking your flow. That’s exactly why fast-moving teams rely on it.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack’s main downside is how quickly it can become noisy and distracting. When there are too many channels, pings, and threads, important messages get buried, and people end up reacting all day instead of doing focused work.

It can also encourage an always-on communication culture, which may lead to burnout and unrealistic expectations around response times. Combine that with notification overload, messy channel sprawl, and rising costs as teams scale, and Slack can start to feel more chaotic than productive if it isn’t managed carefully.

Slack addresses the problem of fragmented team communication—emails, texts, file sharing, and meetings spread across different tools. By bringing conversations, files, and decisions into channels, it creates a single source of truth where everyone can stay up to date without digging through inboxes or tracking people down.

For me, that means collaboration is faster, more transparent, and less prone to mistakes. I can easily pull up past discussions, get the right context quickly, and keep work moving without getting stuck in long email threads or sitting through redundant meetings, which helps keep projects on track and teams aligned.

I like how Slack is a great collaboration tool that makes communication easier and less formal. It's less of a task to write to someone on Slack than it is to send an email. I appreciate how easy it is to silo different chats and channels for different projects, which is really helpful. Also, connecting Slack to my calendar and syncing it with other tools I use like Notion is super convenient. I can reference Notion pages or databases on Slack, directing teams and sharing links effectively. The user interface and ability to sync with many other tools are major positives for me. The initial setup was quite easy too.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I find typing formats a bit hard and limited, like creating a list or text formats. It took me a while to be able to list something on Slack in bullet point form. Also, pressing enter to send a message can be annoying, as I often send messages by mistake while still typing, which can be a huge mishap when making an important announcement on company-wide channels.

I love how fast everything is and how organized Slack keeps the communication. Threaded replies make conversations clean, eliminating the chaos of running around in 100 different emails. The integrations are amazing too, especially with GitHub PR and JIRA tickets. Setting up Slack was easy for my team.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Notification overload is real. Even with DND and custom settings some important stuff gets buried when too many channels are active. Search can be slow and sometimes misses things if you don't remember exact keywords. Mobile app drains battery like crazy and push notifications are delayed when the cellular connection is bad. Pricing gets expensive so fast once you add more guests and storage. Threads sometimes get forgotten and if someone doesn't reply in the right place some stuff gets lost. Too noisy, make the AI smarter so it learns what's actually urgent for me personally and for my role. Everything is annoying but secondary. Notifications are the biggest pain.

Slack kills slow email chains, stops tool overload, enables quick decisions, and reduces miscommunication. I love the speed, organization with threaded replies, and integrations with GitHub and Jira.

Sometimes it becomes a notification graveyard when you're not there for a few days, which is overwhelming. Also, the huddle's changed UI could be improved.

Slack works well as a central hub for internal communication and workflow automation. One of its biggest strengths is how easily it integrates with other tools we use every day, such as Marfeel. For example, we can automatically receive audience performance reports like the Good Morning summary directly in specific channels. This keeps the team informed without manual effort and ensures key data stays visible when making editorial and product decisions.

It’s also helpful for keeping discussions organized by topic, team, or project through dedicated channels. On top of that, Slack connects smoothly with other tools that are common in digital media workflows, such as Google Drive, calendars, and task notifications. Overall, these integrations reduce our reliance on email and bring important operational information into a single workspace.

Despite its strengths, Slack isn’t always the most practical communication tool for day-to-day newsroom dynamics. Many journalists and editors—especially those working on the ground or out in the field—tend to rely more on WhatsApp, which they check far more frequently throughout the day. As a result, Slack messages and notifications can be overlooked or missed entirely, which reduces its usefulness for time-sensitive communication.

In practice, communication often feels more fluid and immediate through tools that are already deeply embedded in daily routines, like WhatsApp. For that reason, Slack seems better suited to structured updates, automation, and internal coordination, rather than urgent, real-time conversations with reporters who are outside the newsroom.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack helps us address the challenge of centralizing internal communication and automated information flows in a digital newsroom. Rather than relying on email threads or manual updates, Slack lets us bring key operational messages, data, and notifications together in structured channels that teams can follow easily.

With integrations and automations, Slack also allows us to receive daily audience performance reports—such as Marfeel’s Good Morning summary—directly in the most relevant channels. This cuts down on manual reporting, provides consistent access to the same data, and helps editorial and product teams stay aligned around performance insights. Overall, Slack improves coordination, reduces information silos, and makes workflows more efficient, even if real-time field communication still happens through other tools.

Navigation is very easy, and I like having the option to organize different group chats and people. It really helps me stay focused when I have many chats active and tagged. I also recently started using the “Save for later” function, which has been genuinely helpful for keeping track of important conversations and any follow-up points.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The only issue I have had was archiving old chats where there were people who have already left. And perhaps too many notifications, needed to switch them off and there is no option to mute forever. I would like to have option that mutes everything I select (keep some people chats active)

I find the search function robust and it makes it easy to find conversations or documents. I feel confident when searching a keyword as the appropriate content will be shown. I also found the initial setup of Slack very easy—quick and simple.

I don't like that you are capped at 8 users in a direct message channel, it is very restrictive outside of creating a channel.

quick huddles and message scheduling and reminders are very useful.

It's hard to nit pick about Slack - amazing tool and miles ahead of the competition. Although it's quite expensive.

So far, this is the best tool for team collaboration I've come across. It's miles better than Skype and the like. If you're considering using this tool in your organization, you can't go wrong with this product. Go ahead and start using it.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I use Slack to connect with my photography team, and it eliminates the need for a new app with new logins. It's user-friendly for Apple and Android. I love that it can have multiple chats within one app, which keeps things simple and hassle-free for me and my team. We appreciate that we can break off into groups while still maintaining our main chat. It's so much easier compared to texting, where we have to pick names and start new conversations. With Slack, we just select from our existing groups and move to a new chat without leaving the main one. The initial setup was very easy, even with an age range of 19 to 60. Overall, it works really well for us.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I use Slack for my company, and it's great for daily conversations. I really like how quick and easy it is to go on one-on-one calls instead of scheduling a call on other platforms. It's also easy for communication and I enjoy sending emojis. Another cool feature is the ability to integrate apps like Google Calendar, which makes sharing files and tools seamless. The setup is very easy, and I've been using Slack for the past six to seven years in different organizations. Finally, there's the advantage of integrating monitoring tools and other software like Jira with Slack which keeps everything centralized.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I've seen, like, while doing Huddle, many of my colleagues are facing issues. The connection dropped as well. They're not able to connect properly. Sometimes it's hard to, you know, do the screen share like screen won't share properly. So I just want, like, the call in the Huddle is a very good feature. Just improve it so that, you know, it will be more easy, to communicate.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It’s the tool we use to communicate with our colleagues at work around the world. The interface is intuitive, and the icons are placed right next to the chat window, which saves me time because I don’t have to search for them. It’s also straightforward to find where to share an image, start a huddle when a quick call is needed, and create chat groups or channels whenever we need help from additional colleagues.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It won’t let me drag text in from outside, so I end up having to copy and paste it directly into the chat bubble instead. Also, sometimes users who are active don’t show up when I’m adding people to a conversation, and I have to search for them outside the DM and then add them again afterward.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’ve used it since I joined the company, so I’m now accustomed to easily creating a DM or a channel to request information from multiple people at once, and to ping them directly when something is high priority.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like Slack for its features and interface. It really helps to integrate with different tools like HubSpot and NOOX, making it very useful for organizational communication within big companies. The integration is especially helpful because when I win a deal in HubSpot, it's easy to show it in the group chat with the sales team, and similarly, when I have a nice call on NOOX, it goes into Slack showing the call and that a meeting was booked. Slack bridges the communication gap, and it's easy and fast to communicate without resorting to emails. It's also helpful for managing groups and communications easily.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think the ability to hide or archive messages could be improved.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like using Slack for channels like general and direct messages between individual teammates. It's faster at communicating than email because instant messaging allows us to quickly send files and get notified right away. Slack works across phones, tablets, and laptops, so we're able to get notified pretty much in real time. It's as easy as replying to a text if you're on your phone, but I also like having the desktop app for a full view of all the channels and messages. The initial setup was very easy and simple. I really like all the integrations and apps that come with it, and Giphy tools.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The video call feature is a bit limited compared to Zoom.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack speeds up communication compared to email and allows us to send files instantly. We get real-time notifications on various devices, making it easy to keep in touch.

I like that Slack is a very easy-to-use program and it fully integrates with our tech stack. Having it launch on login makes it very easy to communicate with people inside the organization. The ability to quickly ask questions to a team member who is not in the same state is valuable and saves a lot of time, making communication more efficient and helping to solve problems.

I think the limitation of having add-ons within the Slack tech stack due to licensing issues. It would be better if we could have more.

I use Slack for daily communication, calls, and collaboration with colleagues across various functions. I can communicate with tons of colleagues together with fluidity. I like the live status feature that shows if someone is available or away. I also appreciate the new Canvas feature, which is great for creating posts, open notes, articles, and tables. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Calls is a weak point for Slack when compared to MS Teams. Slack calls often drop, either of participants are not able to hear the other person. And, second problem is, app looks heavy with everything shown upfront. Too much cognitive load sometimes.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack for collaborating with colleagues, seeing their availability, resolving conflicts, aligning on tasks, and staying updated. It allows for smooth communication with many colleagues simultaneously.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I have not used any other software that is so user friendly and compatible as Slack. It has almost all the features, customisation and UI designing options which makes it a very interactive software as per our requirements.

I have never observed any lag in the software or felt it is running slow or my work is stuck due to that. 

It is so easy to integrate with other softwares as well and have the capacity to handle complex integrations very smoothly.

One of the best software i have used till date!!!

The only issue i have sometime faced is while sharing files, sometimes it use to fail. I understand that sometimes the cause maybe different such as internet issues but it should give some prompts like that so we as a end user could understand the exact cause of the challenge.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack is the key communication channel we use in our day to day life. As there is a lot of data we daily deal with, slack gives us the flexibility to store it neatly without creating mess. We have the ability to create different channel so it is easy for us to manage everything simultaneously. And, the UI is really very user friendly and gives a lot of different options to make everything user friendly as much as possible.
