**Reviewed by:** A B. | Team Member/Supervisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It is a way to keep ALL things pertaining to a particular group together.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Its user interface isn't as friendly as some of the competitors. Too easy for people to be removed from a video chat and/or muted for no reason. A large app when memory is an issue. Notifications aren't consistent.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I tried repeatedly and always got the same result and message. Error uploading screenshot.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do like the ability to organize the chats by subject matter, I however find it hard to navigate without missing important info, announcements...

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

being unable to have folders for documents

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

- The amount of integration adapters and out of box support by third party softwares for slack notification.
- Pointer option in scree shares.
- Public and private channels and ease of searching different channels.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Miscellaneous issues and frequent drop from voice and video calls is very frequent in slack compared to google meet or other products.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is good tool for collaboration but there are frequent issues with voice and video calls.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team collaboration in lock down relies on slack for most of the works. Also we use it as aggregator for notifications from different third party tools.

  ### 5. it's done the job

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

the gifs (overall product integration/synergy).

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

7/10 times I don't get my notifications (when I'm online and available).

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

It's super easy and a great way to coordinate with different project teams. Organizes itself pretty much - and the integration with Giphy makes responses fun!

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy communication, I like how it shows the time for staff in other time zones.

  ### 6. Okay this is a simple test. At what point does autosave kick?

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Twice in one answer, and again here. So pretty reliably,

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It can get cluttered really fast. It's hard to stay on top of everything when you are a member of a large number of different channels.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration and communication at work.

  ### 7. It used to be the best, but has been suprassed

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro H. | Logistics Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Real time communication and text based support for the whole company

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The quality of audio calls is not so good, and it has restrictions on the amount of records that can be stored

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

There are better options with better and more extensive functionality, and at the same cost. Slack used to be the industry standard but has changed for the worst.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to use it for all inter company communication and to have our internal knowledge base, but with the recent changes it stopped being the best

  ### 8. chat application at office

  ### 9. Slack review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

We use Slack with one of our vendors. It's a decent sharing program.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I work mostly out of Outlook and it's a second place I need to check for messages.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Slack with one of our vendors. The one good thing is that we can share info with the entire team.

  ### 10. DM tool with many possibilities

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linus D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like the multiple different possibilities you have with Slack. Building channels, building public channels, different integrations etc etc etc

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

how limited you are once you have made a channel public or private

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

really look into the different options you have with slack. Many functionalities are there but not obvious

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use it for our internal communications

  ### 11. Fun with Giphys!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ellie D. | Human Resources Administrative Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

using an instant messaging system makes communicating with my office mates way easier. Some of us work remotely, so having it open is almost as good as them being right there in the office with us.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

the notifications are a bit subtle, when you have 100 tabs and apps open on your desktop as I often do, it can be kind be easy to miss messages.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

If you are in a small office, slack is only semi-useful. For the most part, I would not bother to recommend slack unless the group to which I am recommending it is a much larger firm than my own. If you work in an office my size, you can easily bounce from desk to desk and communicate with your colleagues -- in fact, when the office is small enough, it makes MORE sense to do that rather than to waste your time typing. Slack is best suited for a group large enough to have multiple floors or suites, where it will actually save time.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far the biggest benefit in using slack has been quickly looping in employees who are off-site or who work remotely. My office is relatively small, with only about 10 of us in the office on a good day. So for the most part, if I need to collaborate with someone, I can just walk across the room and sit down at their desk. There's not really much of a need outside of the remote employees.

  ### 12. Okay, but complicated!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Good for engineering teams sharing codes to & fro!

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Too complex for a basic user to understand & get used to it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's free for our team & does file sharing without any hassle

  ### 13. An Okay Free Option

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack is free for our organization to use--which is great as a very small nonprofit.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack doesn't have some of the features that make programs like Basecamp stand out--such as setting deadlines. Some of the channels can be clunky in terms of knowing they exist unless you are intentional about inviting everyone to a channel.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Just recognize the limitations. You need full team buy in for it to be successful and beneficial!

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are reducing our email chatter and keeping our team more productive!

  ### 14. Slack is good tool to which we can integrate several tools

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It is an atlassian tool
It is independent of ldap directory like skype

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

1.it is costly as comparision with other

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

It is good tool so anyone can use

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1 communicaton with other clients
2. Integration with other tools

  ### 15. Excellent team messaging app with a lot of integrations

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michel H. | IT-Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack offers a wide range of integrations to automatically update your team with the newest information, especially useful for developing teams. I also love the ability to add other collaboration and office tools.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The audio and video call quality is not as good compared to competitors like Microsoft Teams. Also, it's a bit more expensive than its competitors like Microsoft Teams.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Take a look at the competitors as well. If Slack supports an integration that you want to use, it can be very helpful. It has a lot of features that can be very useful; however, other companies offer these as well so it is definitely worth taking a look at all solutions on the market.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack has simplified the communication in my team by allowing us to share files without having to send them via email.

  ### 16. It's good, but not great!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It has al the features you need! Chatting, private messaging, group replies, etc.
It's very comparable to Discord but for enterprise.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

We at our work don't use the voice calling option, instead we use discord for that. Apparently because Slacks voice calling feature is not as good as Discords.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication is a breeze with slack!

  ### 17. Best application for product management

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu G. | Joule Fellow, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like Slack mostly because it is quite interactive and best part about it is scheduling status, dnd, group video calls etc.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Document sharing. Sometimes pdf documents does not get downloaded in file directory and sometimes it creates problem with files having uncommon extensions like json etc.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are in team. We use slack for discussion and file sharing.

  ### 18. Easy to create groups and chat

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

easy to chat and tag the people in group

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

sometimes voice calls are dis-connect issue

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use this tool connect to collegues . it is easy to use tool

  ### 19. Messaging

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Easy to use, group messaging, work from home software

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Notifications from irrelevant channels, too much time to go through

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to get someone’s attention at work when you are not in the same location

  ### 20. Slack for Group updates and private information sharing

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Creating groups and providing updates on it is very easy. It is safe to share files and information over this platform

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Some times it difficult to join the group and very few online article present when you face any issue.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing daily database healthy check status updates to group or any high priority issue solving

  ### 21. Slack helps organize a group, but can be difficult to navigate (especially on mobile).

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenn B. | Graphic Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that it's one central spot for a group to organize a project. It's nice that there are separate channels where you can address your whole group or just applicable parties. The channels are nice to divide conversations into relevant subgroups: event experience, group meetings, sponsors, outreach, etc.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I feel like conversations sometimes get buried and can be hard to search later for reference. I'm also not really sure how to add or organize the channels and sometimes comments get buried in conversation threads that I can never find again.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is a great resource for communicating remotely with a team. You can address everyone involved, tag certain members, or create separate channels for individual communications. I know there are ways to subscribe to other "channels" --like the global headquarters for my organization--but I've never really figured out how to do that. I also think the mobile version is difficult to navigate between channels.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use slack to participate as a volunteer board member for a non-profit. It's a great central resource for all volunteers to share what we're working on.

  ### 22. A great innovation, with few hooks

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I love how Slack revolutionized collaboration! And Microsoft teams wouldn't be where it is today if it weren’t for Slack.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Login process is frustrating. Why should I have to remember my slack domain?
Last I recall, it didn’t have SSO with identity providers.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Support it so that there’s competition for Microsoft, and so that Slack keeps innovating (which Msft hardly does!)

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing the email in my inbox
Getting more questions answered in a shorter timeframe
Avoiding unnecessary meetings!!

  ### 23. The Expectation to be Constantly Connected

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesus V. | Residency Program Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack creates an environment that can be interactive and comparable to a forum like Discord or Reddit allowing multiple groups to talk about different tasks and different projects under the same platform.

Working in the healthcare setting, it's important that this platform is HIPAA compliant, and I am happy that this platform is secure this way.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think that since Slack isn't the main form of communicating with my work group it takes the back burner way of communicating. Already people reach out to me via company email, sometimes personal email, my cell phone, my desk line, and now Slack on my computer. By not having Slack installed on my phone, in an effort for a work-life balance, I have missed important notifications on work that should have been done.

Although this isn't a mistake with the software itself, it does have a broader issue. Because it's trying to fit into a space where it would replace email communications between small or large groups it causes a burden of being "another" thing to have to check. It also isn't the primary way of communicating that most people commonly use, therefore there needs to be a training for a proper adoption course of the software. This would be eased by showing how Slack can be helpful through video presentations. It also causes the burden of after-hours communication to increase.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

This is really a cultural shift, if it makes sense for your team change over, but if it doesn't it will only increase the burden of communicating well with your group.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love the collaborative nature of my group which led us to adopting Slack.

  ### 24. Slack Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin K. | Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack is relatively easy to use, and much more professional than discord.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It is confusing getting slack to work on both my computer and phone.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

It's very convenient, and it really helps organize online communication.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am working on organizing my teams on slack. It works very well.

  ### 25. A bit confusing, but I’m learning

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samantha B. | Team Leader, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how they highlight new notifications in white and then they turn dark once you have opened them. I like how they have the ability to send files, videos, photos, etc.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I don’t understand the difference between groups and threads, and I’m not sure if this is explained when I first started using the app. I also was not asked if I would like to receive notifications, so I had to go into settings and turn them on, so I wouldn’t miss any important information.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Maybe offering a tutorial on the app, or recommending that organizations who implement the app provide a training to their staff on how to utilize it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building community within the place I work. We are able to help other people and give them tips and tricks for working and planning. It is also convenient to have all of our work place resources in one place, instead of relying on a Facebook group and a groupme chat.

  ### 26. Am I the only one who doesn't like slack?

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lori H. | Social Media Marketer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like the idea of slack. That my team is able to "talk" to each other about all and sundry at any time. I like the idea of the channels to segregate the topics we talk about.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Well, everything else. It just isn't as useful as it seems it is going to be. When I want to reply to a slack message "Starting a thread" doesn't seem to be the right choice. "Reply" seems a better choice.

I would prefer to see the threads "indented" a la Reddit's UI. It's hard for me to see which response is in reply to which.

Old bulletin boards and forums seem to be easier to follow a thread than slack.

I tried to integrate with Trello but not sure how well it works.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with 3 client organisations that use slack. So far, I prefer using our task management platform with comments and "@" taggin people rather than using slack.

  ### 27. Slack is ok for connecting amongst CoWorkers

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar Leonardo R. | Marketing Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack has a nice visualization of all the available contacts in the workspace, i think its really nice how contacts and myself can decide to send Gifs with Giphy, i think its fun and changes the way to communicate, Gifs have been around a while to chat but i feel Slack was among the first platforms to integrate it succesfully, as well the way workplaces are created to invite other users and the feed in the workplace is nice and fluent, I think its also nice the way different channels can be created to speak on different topics, this topics we use them for different projects, this way my co workers and I can see the last status update on each of the projects and not intertwine the different deliverable we must meet. I think the call setting are pretty good, without a doubt Slack is more focused on chatting with other coworkers but if calls must be made this have good quality overall and serve its purpose, i also like how information is never lost, if done correctly you can go back to chats done months and even years ago and check on previous chats, i also like the mobile app i think it serves its purpose for fast communication.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I believe that something i really dislike on slack is if conversations are not shallow and you're probable focused on doing other work and return to the slack conversation you either read the last comments or have to read the whole thread and that really takes some time eating up your day. Another thing i mentioned is that even though conversations are saved from all the way back the workplace was created what i dont think its really good is that new comers can read what was added to the workplace before they were invited, i dislike this because sometimes in manager workplaces people can type on the performance of others and eventually this turns on you once that person is promoted and can read all this stuff.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is great to keep an order in the different projects done at the same time

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using a same platform to communicate on different projects and not lose the information on the different projects.

  ### 28. Easy but complicated

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Divya P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

channels, record keeping, ease of use, privacy

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

search and save features could be improved, as well as gif/meme sharing

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

making cross-communication easier

  ### 29. Slack is convenient to keep in touch, but still has work to do

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B. | Programming Graduate Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack gives you the opportunity to keep in touch with your workmates. With the option to create separate groups within Slack, you can talk with different professionals in your workplace and keep everything uniformed. In addition, you can speak specifically to each coworker and react to their messages, to inform them you received and read their message.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Initially, Slack did not give me notifications when I would receive messages. I had to enable notifications for "immediately" because I was missing notifications from my coworkers. This made me miss very important information that impeded the work I had to complete for the day. Also, the setup is somewhat confusing at first and you have to learn the workings of the app.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

If you want a more professional system with the ability to create separate channels for specific users, Slack is the program for you.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack has made it easier to communicate with my coworkers. Previously using GroupMe felt unprofessional and the introduction of Slack for all the coworkers and volunteers has made everything more uniformed and in one place. The creation of specific channels within Slack has proved very beneficial. We have a specific channel for some of the direct staff to keep in touch and convey what is going on in the center. In addition, I have a specific channel with my volunteers that makes it easy to contact them if I need information or help with something.

  ### 30. Nice and cute

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The graphics are nice ! Super friendly and the groups are helpful

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Nothing when I used it as it was our point and team to contact

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping up with multiple teams inside and outside my organization

  ### 31. If used in a very simple and focused way, it can be extremely valuable.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chylin C. | Sr. Enterprise Relationship Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Quick access to information from colleagues and teams in remote offices. Search functionality allows information previously posted to be quickly found again. Chat function inline with company wide messaging so all communication stays in the same tool and there’s no need to switch between various forms of communication methods to get what’s needed (most of the time).

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Way too much noise. The ability to customize and add random channels and some companies have it set up to where you’re immediately added to all public channels on day 1 - which can be hundreds. Too much junk to sort through to find the real info needed to do your job. It inevitably becomes something that fades into the background for most employees and is used as a chat platform. I don’t think there’s enough support for companies to set it up the right way the first time and get the training to use the right methods to keep the noise from becoming overwhelming.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

It’s meant to be a fun tool so police it cautiously but it is a major source of distraction and a black hole of lost information if everyone is left to their own devices on channel creations, etc. Check in with employees every few months and get feedback on what can be improved through your own use of the tool within your organization.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal and external communications, solving customer issues and internal team support needs

  ### 32. Good way to communicate through teams, but confusing interface

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how you can send messages to an entire group of people and you can subscribe to different subgroups writhing your team based on shared projects of interests

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think that the interface is rest confusing. It’s really easy to accidentally send a message to the entire group, when you mean to only send it to one person. It’s also confusing how both Republicans threads and direct messages show up in a second window on the right, because I never know which I am looking at. All in all I think the interface could be made more user friendly and intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Be careful to check which thread you are sending messages to!

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating fast with all team members. Reaching communities of people I wouldn’t have otherwise.

  ### 33. Slack review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tamás S. | Test Automation Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Several domains can be added, and several chanels inside them, for example if you have contacts from multiple companies, you can add those as domains, and based on topics rhere can be different groups of people in each domain. First it's a bit strange logic after Skype for example, but you can get used to it shortly.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Pricing is based on message count, and you even have to pay for accessing the chat history or voting in a poll. The mobile application it's quite annoying, that the back button doesn't return to the previous screen, but puts the whole application to the background.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is not cheap, but it can be integrated with a very wide range of software. For example you can receive notifications from JIRA, CI and deploy tools, you can create polls, and there's even a funny but useful chatbot.
My favorite feature is that videocalls with screensharing supports writing on the presenters screen.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were keeping the contact with our client through slack, and used for chatting, video calls, sharing files as well. It can be integrated with several tools, like JIRA, Octopus, TeamCity... etc.

  ### 34. Professional Communication

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sundar S. | SDE (Frontend), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

App integration such as Trello, GitHub, google drive makes it more Professional and even the deployment message integration makes it alive. Direct messaging and mentioning system are too good.Channel creation and Threads are awesome feature.Overall good medium for professional communication.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Annoying limitation for free user. Free user tier should be enhanced. Direct calling system is not so good.User Interface could be enhanced for more user friendly.Limitation on message storage could be increased.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

If you are a startup company and couldn't afford more for team building and communicating issues and problem this might be the best solution for you.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy and fastest way to communicate and discuss issues.Professional team building is easier. Can easily raise problems to get solution.

  ### 35. Cool, one more way for my colleagues to poke me with a sharp stick

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin S. | Creative Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like being able to send people large-ish files easily. Also, nothing gives me more pleasure than to remove myself from group channels. I love it.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It's not like I can stop looking at my email. Maybe I get a little less email, but the firehose of slack messages more than makes up for it. Trying to find important things that someone slacked me is almost impossible unless I know exactly which message thread it happened on.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

If you, like myself, require focus to do deep work Slack is a nightmare of notifications. Sometimes really important stuff gets sent through slack, but mostly it's dancing parrot gifs. If you job is to bat back and forth ideas and that someone else has to realize, Slack might be the most evil tool ever created for you. In the end, Slack isn't the problem, humans are. They have just taken away most of the barriers for people to distract one another.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I guess it lets us send funny gifs more easily.

  ### 36. Good application to communicate at work

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael A. | Marketing Team Member, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

One of the features that I like most about Slack is that it integrates with almost everything that exists, plus it is easy to write your own bots and add-ons for Slack, which we have taken advantage of to write bots that provide certain functions when entering messages that are related to our work projects

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

What I do not like about Slack is that some of its functions are not optimized at all. On the other hand in many cases the connection and reconnection can be a bit annoying, because the application insists that there is no connection available, even though all the other applications have already been reconnected, which hinders a bit the user experience when this happens

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is an application for messaging and basic communications that can be very useful for the collaborative atmosphere of your work teams. The tool stands out for its ease of use, however if you are looking for a tool with more control to create your own configuration as an individual user, there are other applications that may be a better option

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack is a tool that offers a pleasant communication experience with co-workers during the daily routine. The tool allows to send integrated reminders by means of messages when necessary, to share messages or files to obtain the opinion of other co-workers, or even to perform video chat individually or in groups. It is a very simple and easy to use tool with different functionalities that are optimally integrated in the chat and that contribute to improve the collaborative environment among the work teams

  ### 37. Basically Facebook group for your work

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how easy it is to use it. I love the private and group chat options and would often use slack to send over files to be approved to my boss. It was a lot easier and faster compared to Dropbox or google drive.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sometimes it was near impossible to find something said in a thread if it was too far back. Also I hated how it crossed a line for my personal and work life. It was like I was always working. I was addicted and the alerts would come at 11pm on a general thread and I’d still have to check. Often times my bosses would ask important info super late and have entire conversations without me but tagging me and choose go a new way on a project I’d be leading so it really did require me to always check. I think if the office was completely remote it be great. But when you have to be somewhere for 8.5 hrs Monday through Friday and spend 3 hours a night checking and responding it can be emotionally draining. Adding in some sort of off hours reminder might be really helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Learn work life balance and try to implement rules for yourself and your team to keep yourself sane. This app crosses that bridge really quickly....

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File management. I do a lot of rough drafts and if I used google drive I’d have to go back in and delete them all at the end. With slack I can send it over private message really quickly for edits and it eventually disappears which was great.

  ### 38. Great little communication tool but needs improvement

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark W. | Helpdesk, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Great team communication tool. Chat and announcements in various groups / teams and also private chat with team members. Chats are kept private, and group announcements are instant. A wide variety of platforms supported including handy mobile app.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Unless you have the premium account, available space is low and no option to delete images / gifs that people upload. Chats went missing without you being advised which is a bad downside, and as users we were told it was a slack known issue and not to do with using a free account. Our company moved onto using Teams instead of slack.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Consider looking at alternative solutions, or implementing a premium account. The free account doesn't give you much.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team communication within the company has improved using Slack. Everyone uses it and it assists with communication and chat all in one. Handy all in one communications tool with multiple platforms for all mobile devices.

  ### 39. Great product for large events but a little confusing to use

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bazal M. | Business Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I love all the different features that are provided and the ability to work with large numbers of people for events in particular. I love that there can be more individualized groups for different team levels withing the event or organization or for multiple topics of conversation

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The features can be a little confusing and there is no way to truly have access to everything on one screen or to be a part of multiple groups under one account. You have to log out and enter different groups separately and can't merge accounts.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Talk to your team first and provide strong training for the implementations so that you may have a better success with the team using it. Ensure that everyone has notifications on and keep signed in that way there is no risk of people being left out of communication. There are options for smaller groups with invitation only, take advantage of making those so that people are more likely to see the messages more important for them.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Event planning, communications, updating. Allows for a more consistent basis of communication and allows for a more open forum for discussions

  ### 40. Confusing interface

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that users are able to chat in different threads to streamline communication

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It’s difficult to share documents without going to a google drive or something. I think the point is that everything is in one place on Slack, but I don’t find slack to be much more useful than groupme+google drive

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Consider the effectiveness for your specific organization. If your group is small and usually handles one project at a time, it’s probably unnecessary. If your group is large and often has multiple projects going at any one time, slack can be super useful.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with a large group that has multiple responsibilities is a lot easer with slack. As the president of my organization, I can check up on committees in different feeds so as to avoid cluttering a main thread with messages that only pertain to a few people.

  ### 41. The platform needs better history search

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter M. | Enterprise Account Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I can quickly connect with my peers across multiple devices. You can share documents and save contacts you slack with on a regular basis to quickly access their names. It offers screen share while you make a call from the platform.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The search function is not that good. When You are in a chat room with multiple people slacking, it’s difficult to search and find a particular message. If you chat with multiple
People the chats names are deleted from the side list without any discretion on which names stay and which ones are deleted. You can not share screens unless you actually call someone. Also if someone Slacks you, once the notification goes away, if you don’t remember their name and the apps deletes the conversation, it’s almost lost for ever

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Save important contacts that you might not speak to on a regular basis and can’t quickly recall their name, especially with larger organizations with 1000’s of employees

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal communications amongst team members.
A centralized communications system to post questions and share documents.

  ### 42. Good program, but a little difficult to learn to use

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney S. | Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like the setup of the interface for the user. I like that you can have separate workspaces and within those workspaces and different group chats with your coworkers. This really helps improve productivity when you are working on multiple projects and with different people. In addition, if you are a sub-group within a larger department, you can use a chat to improve your project because presenting it on the larger group. It makes it easy to use, once you understand how the app/website works. Lastly, I also like that you can use the website form only. Therefore, people that are not very computer savvy or do not have a lot of extra space on their phones can still use the software.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I dislike how difficult the program is to use when you first sign up. It is difficult to understand how to sign up, how to switch back and forth between workspaces, and how to set up a new chat group. However, after a day or so on using the application, you can learn how to use it. It would also be nice if the software was more integrated and had a feature to call other people in the group.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I suggest that you use Slack for large groups that need to communicate and for people that do not mind using a website on their computer, computer notifications, or downloading an application.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software helps to improve the communication between my work group. It really helps to connect us, as a few of us work in different offices.

  ### 43. Convenient system for internal organization and messaging

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany B. | Marketing Specialist and Developer Liaison, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The best thing about Slack is that it uses categories (called "channels") to organize the topics of multiple conversations. This is helpful for people who are working remotely. Thoughtful organization of topics and channels make it easy to connect and brainstorm with teams in a group chat setting.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The level of usefulness that Slack provides largely depends on how the owner of the workspace organizes it. This is not a problem with Slack itself - the program works as it is supposed to. However, a poorly organized Slack workspace can cause more confusion and disorganization than necessary, making the usefulness of the software dependant on user awareness.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack might be right for you if you are looking for software that essentially provides multiple "group chats" about various topics. If your communication needs can be met with this type of set up, I recommend using Slack.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A well organized Slack workspace makes it easy to have multiple chats dedicated to multiple things. I am a freelance writer and I am a member of Slack workspaces for multiple publications. One of my Slack workspaces uses the interface extremely well, with channels devoted to "assignments" and "general chat". There is also a channel that is just titled "Good News!" and it is a place for everyone in the workspace to share when something cool happens in their lives. People might share news about getting engaged, having a baby, getting a cool new job, getting a new cat, etc. It is a neat way to connect with people who I would otherwise be disconnected from.

  ### 44. A Hip Chatting solution

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lathan B. | Programmer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

it adeptly handles all the basic features needed for group chatting, but also has additional flair that makes it fun

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

With the limited plan we had, there was a space limitation and it was severely lacking ways to clear used space as an administrator. We had to use their apis to generate a list of files for each person and then they had to clear out old attachments manually.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team communication, we completely got rid of our team's Group MMS conversations that were getting out of hand.

Topical channels / group conversations is very useful to get the right people in a conversation without bothering the whole team.

  ### 45. Slack sounds easy, but my team is tech savvy and the barebones slack interface was cumbersome

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daryl A. | Digital Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really like Slack because it keeps my team connected effortlessly. We can collaborate, generate ideas and implement them. If a team member misses something, it is very easy to go back and look something up.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The command interface is very inconvenient. You have to learn so many different commands, which takes time in the beginning. It was somewhat difficult to train my team to fully make use of Slack's features.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Give yourself plenty of time to experiment with Slack before you invite your team to join. That way you will be able to provide insight and assistance to other team members when you are all getting started. This is important in order to explain the benefits of Slack to others before they give up and switch back to email.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication and collaboration on shared projects, generating ideas as a team, and inviting outside guests is a breeze.

  ### 46. Slack User Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna P. | President Of The Board Of Directors, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

What I like best about the Slack app is the ability to share files with team members. This saves a lot of time!

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

What I dislike about Slack is the price tag. It's very expensive unless you use the freemium version which is very limited on features. Another thing I dislike is the amount of notifications. This can be helpful when working on projects that require close collaboration, but not for everyday use in my case.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Excellent option for team collaboration and communications! Plus it offers a freemium version which is a bonus for those who want to see how it works before purchasing.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the problem of a single place for my team to work and collaborate on projects. For example, sharing files, task management updates and instant messaging. All are key to managing projects efficiently.

  ### 47. Josephs Reviews

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph R. | Contractor support representative , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

the emojis and the fact you can create your own

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

not having a way to answer to a specific message

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

is really easy to use so I'm sure no one is going to have any trouble using it

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

all kind of problems it helps us to communicate with our colleagues offsite

  ### 48. Effective

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that images and other imagining formats can be sent over the messenger program. The program allows you to connect to other apps for ease which is ideal as most people don't use one program while working.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It only displays up to a certain number of people you've direct messaged. If you haven't DM'ed someone in a while you have to go and search for them.

I wish there was also more customization in the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

It's a very easy to use program. It does take a few moments to set the preferences up but once they are set there is no change needed.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a very effective way to keep in touch with colleagues even when out of the office. Having the program run in the background making it easy to quickly switch over and message someone.

  ### 49. My experience using slack

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander P. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The best part about using Slack is the slick user experience their designers have created. It's very intuitive, as any messaging application should be. It's also highly customizeable and provides a myriad of options to create multiple groups within and outside of your organization.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I don't dislike anything specifically about Slack, but I'm often confused why it's more popular in a professional setting than any other messaging platform. In my own experience, there's little that Slack offers that can't also be done simply in Facebook's messenger app. However, I suppose people are generally reluctant to using facebook at their place of employment so maybe that has something to do with it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Slack while working as a federal contractor at a consulting firm outside of Washington, DC. We had many different teams all working on different federal contracts spread out among dozens of locations so having a messaging application for easy and quick communication was essential.

  ### 50. It's Fine

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that this moves conversations out of my email inbox. I like that I can have threads with just certain people. I appreciate that there's an app that I can use vs. the desktop version.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I don't like that there isn't a task management feature. We have tried to use this to manage tasks, and things get lost very easily.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't think this solves the problem that we were trying to solve. It feels like just another way to communicate. I think that adding something almost makes life and work more difficult because no one needs just one more thing. I had hoped this would provide a paradigm shift and help us to do things more effectively. Instead it just is doing the same thing in a different way.
