## Slack Reviews
 ### 1. Overwhelming Interface, Needs Simplification

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony K. | Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I appreciate being able to follow multiple channels and the related conversations in my investor group since it seems very clear and straightforward, simple to use. The breakdown or sections for these different channels work very well, and I've been enjoying that. The ability to see a thread of messages and reply to specific comments seems common and easy to use. I like that feature because it ensures nothing gets forgotten in conversations.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

So my overall experience with Slack is, I would say, negative in the sense that it's all over the place. There are features and elements everywhere. Seems very complex, and I'm a tech-savvy person, but I never know exactly where on my phone I can get the latest notifications or not. I don't want a notification for everything. I don't understand when I get notified. People tag you. Sometimes they don't tag you. A message. So I never exactly know when it's for me, when it's for the community. There are some notifications I would like just for specific channels, but not everyone, and I can't easily find how to set it up. There is a huge difference between the interface on a browser versus what you get on the phone. It's very messy. It's not easy to find information. There are icons everywhere. I don't enjoy the experience at all, but it's the only option that Notion as well as the investor community proposes for this chatting. So I would rather prefer a way more lean interface, way simpler in the way to use it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack to share information interactively with my community. It makes discussions accessible, allows specific replies, and keeps threads organized, ensuring nothing gets forgotten.

 ### 2. Challenging Setup, Effective Communication Tool

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesus Alberto G. | admission specialist, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like using Slack for chatting and having channels with my coworkers and boss, which makes communication smoother. It's great that there's a dedicated space to ask questions and get answers. I appreciate the AI help; it works great. The channels feature is especially useful as it allows each department to focus on their own queries, which I find great. Using Slack feels almost like using a phone, which is convenient.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I find it challenging to log in and think it could be easier. The initial setup of Slack was challenging and took almost three weeks.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack for better communication with coworkers and my boss. Having dedicated channels helps us ask questions and keep communication organized by department.

 ### 3. Centralized Communication, Needs Cost Adjustment

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Qadir A. | Remote Project Coordinator | Process Streamliner for Busy Founders & Teams, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I used Slack for team chat, especially during the pandemic when office attendance was almost zero. It became a central place for my organization to manage daily calls, quick team chats, and media and file sharing, acting as a good digital facilitator tool during the lockdown. I liked it most as a messenger. The calls and media sharing features were good facilities. The daily standup calls and virtual meetings saved a lot of time and cost. I also liked the built-in Canva collaboration feature since meeting agendas and notes were managed well during calls, eliminating the need for additional diaries.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The initial setup of Slack was tricky, and I had to read some blogs to manage it. AI features like agents creation could enhance Slack and make it more competitive with industry leaders. Additionally, it would be great if Slack was more cost-efficient and had improved offline functionality. Due to cost concerns, I switched to using Zoom and Microsoft Teams, where I also get benefits like Office 365 integration.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack served as a central place for communication during remote work, allowing for daily calls, team chats, and media sharing, saving time and cost.

 ### 4. Flat Out Unreliable Video Calls, no good tools for organizing the million channels and people

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** C.W. H. | Technical Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It exists. I don't' usually lose messages.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I can't organize things. I need directories, and SUB-DIRECTORIES (the latter is not supported).

Video calls are TERRIBLE: it flat out does not work in browser (Firefox on MacOS, it's poor quality, and when using the draw-during-sharing feature, causes massive issues for everyone else on the call.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Let's different groups communicate.

 ### 5. Slack Feels Fast and Easy, but Needs Improvement Overall

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack is fast, simple, and easy to use. Conversations feel more lightweight and responsive than email, and it’s easy to jump in and out of discussions without friction. Channels keep topics clearly separated, search works well, and overall it’s quick to get answers and move conversations forward.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

When we used Slack, it didn’t meet all of our communication needs at the time. It lacked built-in phone capabilities, and reliability was occasionally an issue for us. These limitations made it harder to use Slack as a single, all-in-one communication platform. I assume many of these gaps may have been addressed since the

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the problem of slow, email-heavy communication by providing real-time messaging and organized channels. When we used it, it was a clear improvement over Skype, making conversations easier to follow and helping teams communicate more quickly and informally.

 ### 6. Struggles with Setup, But Organizes Communication Well

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leah M. | business owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I find Slack valuable for keeping communications organized, which is a significant benefit for my cleaning business. The capability to have different channels for different conversations helps to prevent discussions from becoming overwhelming. This feature allows for easy navigation through channels, making it straightforward to see what conversations were going on within each channel, thereby solving some communication issues. This organization is particularly useful in ensuring clarity and consistency in communication among my staff.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I found setting up Slack quite difficult and overwhelming. It wasn't user-friendly for me, especially as someone who is not very tech-savvy. Additionally, the notification system is not very effective since my staff often miss notifications, necessitating separate communication to remind them to check Slack. The sheer number of features could be simplified to make the platform less complicated.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack to solve communication issues and keep conversations organized, helping me manage my cleaning business more efficiently by having easy access to discussions through different channels.

 ### 7. Good for Team Chat, Overwhelming UI

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Slavik K. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like Slack for making it easy to talk to colleagues who are far away. The design of Slack is also something I appreciate, as it's nice looking. I mostly use the chat feature, which helps streamline communication with my team.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The UI is too messy with too many unnecessary functions.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack for team communication. It makes it easy to talk to colleagues who are far away.

 ### 8. Great for Office Tasks, But Buggy and Not Ideal for Chatting

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhijit N. | Software developer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It's suitable for office use, but not ideal for chatting, so I wouldn't recommend it for regular use.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I've encountered numerous bugs with this app. Often, it fails to open unless I access it through message notifications. However, when I try to open it after minimizing, it doesn't respond at all.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was hoping that all the bugs would be fixed, but they are still present. Also, it's disappointing that I can't view my message history unless I upgrade to a premium plan.

 ### 9. Feature Bloat Overshadows Easy Communication

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris K. | CMO, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It's easy to communicate with co-workers. Integrations are good.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Too many features. Seems like they kinda lost track of purpose.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly just office communication

 ### 10. Our primary corporate communications channel

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinanth G. | Customer Value Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Basically nothing. Its not the best application. I find teams far better

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Very poor interface and unorganized messages. Not very feature rich. Poor customer support. Easy to implement

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with video conferencing and cross functional communication

 ### 11. Slack for teams

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ganaa I. | Research And Development Manager, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Gantt chart and calendar view and notafication. Most useful tasks are organizing tasks, prioritzing tasks and transparency. Transparency is the most important function. All team members knows each others tasks who is responsible what tasks and jobs how is the deadlines. It means all team members monitoring eachothers. Oh and of course Slack App is the very easy to use and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Maybe notification fatigue. When the deadline comes there is notification comes. Sometimes it's too much notification.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prioritizing tasks and calendar view. It helps to organize my team members work load and planning my tasks seeing calendar view.

 ### 12. Not for Me

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack centralizes information and communication.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It's simply not for me. As a senior executive, I don't need to know what's moving at every moment. In fact, I need to disengaged from the moment-to-moment and the maddening dit-dit-dit of Slack's update notifications are simply an unwanted distraction. And frankly, I don't believe that anyone one the team necessarily needs real-time updates all the time. Then, everything becomes everything and priorities aren't clear. Beyond that, and I'm sure this has more to do with how our instance is organized, I can't find anything. Yes, it's there. But where? And having to dig doesn't make me more efficient. Or want to work in Slack at all.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralizing information and communication.

 ### 13. Slack Deneyimi

 ### 15. It should have teams integration

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

To use Salesforce information and good references about the data

 ### 16. Cluttered & hard to look for messages

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Slack?**

You can view archived data easily and access conversations from different groups in an organisation

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It's very cluttered and it's hard to look for conversations. There are multiple groups / channels / threads making it confusing for a user

I can easily access older conversations ensuring transparency

Easy to reach out to anyone in the org

Can to video conferencing in addition to outreach

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Veriuse chats and connections a large veriaty of short cuts

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It's scary to use for a first timer and for none tech people

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting with people out side of my work place (vendors etc)

 ### 18. Am I the only person that sorta hates Slack?

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clare M. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Not much honestly. I guess the best thing about it is that it works most of the time

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Ugh, I really don't like it. I feel like it's super easy to miss things and lose track of things.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I guess its supposed to be streamlining communication, but to me it seems to fragment it more.

 ### 19. medical office

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B. | clinical manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The ability to massage my employees when I am at work or away from the office is a great thing.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

the Price point is too high, it was $12-$15 per user per month that is rediculous

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

the price point per user is too high

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The instant massaging is excellent. We use iPad's in our medical practice, and the EMR that we use doesn't have a massaging system for the iPad users, so slack has picked up the slack of our EMR system.

 ### 20. Useful but has issues

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Theseus L. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Slack?**

You can make subgroups (channels) within your org, and can DM anyone from your org.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Inability to see all unread messages - have to switch between workspaces, and when you're in one workspace sometimes you don't get notifications for your others

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I personally would not choose to use slack, but the groups I'm in use it

 ### 21. Slack Review--too many distractions

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Outsourcing/Offshoring | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It's good for team collaboration, file sharing, IMs

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

If a company that's using Slack doesn't train employees on best practices Slack can get unruly and out of control really fast. I had an instance at a company where I was getting alerts for over 20 groups/teams. Can really frazzled your nerves if not managed properly.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I'd stress implementing a 'best practices' training for using Slack to avoid users feeling overloaded with communications.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instant communication to address customer issues, and communicate privately on customer video calls

 ### 22. Not my favorite communication app

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura O. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that it have a web version , and in call you can draw on screen , it make the use more didactic.
Also i like it have monday notifications because sometimes i have not see all time my e mail to watch out the new tasks. The only reason i am rating Slack with 3 is because i dislike the desktop version and the web version dont have all functions on call like the desktop version. it is too heavy, and my laptop becomes too slow.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The desktop app is too bad, it make any PC too slow, and the notifications sometimes get late. I really dislike the desktop version, I preffer web version, but in this you can't have all functions on call in the same way.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

this application allow to connect with another software to make the work easier, like monday.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Make workcalls, and watch out about Monday tasks.

 ### 23. Too much going on

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really like the ability to share files. I also like how it straddles the line between professional/work (email) and casual (text). The combination of being able to share files with the texting is really nice.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I dislike the organization of the app(s). I'm confused by the channels and all the different options. This may be because of my smaller groups that I'm in, but even in large slack groups I'm confused by the channels. It would be nice to have a simplified option for small groups, for example.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Keep it simple. Use just a couple channels, with a small team.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Staying in touch continuously. It's hard to keep up with multiple email chains, and Slack addresses that problem. Additionally, email sometimes feels too professional especially if I need to write a quick comment or make a quick suggestion.

 ### 24. Confusing platform as a user but great for mass communication distribution

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Philanthropy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The fact that a lot of people can be in one group was awesome. The direct message feature was also handy for communicating with people involved in the project I otherwise had no feasible way to contact. I also appreciate that I didn't have to receive notifications for every message at once and mix conversations but rather could check the thread to get all updates about one topic at once. It made for clear conversions and input on different things and easy to return to those different threads when need be. Overall, for such a large group, it was a wonderful way to send updates and share ideas amongst a lot of people. While I had the app, they also rebranded the app face and color scheme, and I will say I appreciate the newer colors as well.
Despite these wonderful features I still personally had a lot of trouble navigating it and given the amount of struggling time that I put into it I do not believe that the highlighted good benefits outweigh the time that the individual user has to figure out the platform

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The platform is confusing to navigate and difficult to send messages as a user who is unfamiliar and new to the platform. I believe the leaders of communication learned to navigate the platform through an official training. As a user, I struggled to explore and learn Slack myself and figure out how to communicate to the group and individuals. Given that it was also a large group, I was afraid to just test things while being unsure if anything I did would be visible to the rest of the group. Eventually I did figure things out, (especially after speaking to others about user functions) but I left with the feeling that there were unused features I had not tapped into due to my lack of knowledge and training of the program. In the future, I believe there should be a better training built into the app to learn to navigate the feautures from the start. I also thought the sign up process for a specific group was difficult.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I believe slack has a lot of features for communication. However I reccomend a training session to get all users on the same page regarding the use of feautures. I also suggest having a test thread for people to practice using it within the group without feeling embarrassed to try it out. Overall, I would reccomend to administrators to recognize the fact that user training may be a responsibility that they have to know they are taking on too. Another recommendation I have is that you should follow up with users to make sure it's still working after a while, and some people in my group accidentally muted notifications and were not seeing updates or conversations in a timely manner at all.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for my sorority communication for planning philanthropy events and chapter meetings and it allowed for mass message distribution without email or a big group chats. Given that the chapter had over 150 active members, we were able to post ideas about philanthropy event planning and anyone was able to chime in and comment without sending messy email chains or message group chats. It was great for anybody to chime in and contribute without the pressure on individuals to respond when communication feels more personal (like email). I also have had other organizations besides the primary philanthropy groups suggest using slack and it was cool for me to realize that I could have multiple group communications in one app like that. If I have to communicate with over 100 people at a time again, I would consider using this app to help facilitate conversation and ideas. I would say one of the best features about slack is the fact that all messages don't just come in chronological order rather organized by idea and makes it so that the users can easily find different topics of conversation and not have to scroll for hours back through to find one thing they were looking for.

 ### 25. Better platforms for messaging with more features

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Can reply and create threads/chains to comments. Also can add react emojis. Easy to use because you can use the desktop app or use in the browser. Tagging individuals is easy to specifically call out the users who need to see your post. Being able to pin stuff is awesome because it keeps relevant information somewhere easy to locate so you don't need to go back through messages to find the information. Channels make it easy to group conversations and keep different group's organized.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Is only a chat platform which means that anything that would require video would need to be done on a different platform. The lack of video makes Microsoft Teams a stronger option because it includes a video option.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is a good option if you don't need video chat.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great for communication for projects and business.

 ### 26. Not the easiest product to use

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bobby H. | Certified Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacy Purchaser, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Free accounts available in additionto paid subscriptions.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Not as useful as Microsoft Teams but if you don't have a network with active directory actived or subscribe to Microsoft Offers 365, then it's not bad.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaborating with external partners.

 ### 27. Overall okay, could be made more user friendly. Some of my colleagues faced notification issue.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek A. | S, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

#Channels
You can follow any channels you like

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Notification issue with channels. Few of colleagues using windows laptop and mac book had to switch to other messaging app due to notification issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Some features are really helpful like channels, schedule mute notification when you do not want it, archive a chat

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Channels are a good way for an open discussion, anyone in the company interested in a topic or a project can give their ideas and contribute to it. We found many new members for our upcoming project having experiences in it through slack channel.

 ### 28. Security issues with Slack

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe C. | Cybersecurity Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

A whole lot of options when it comes to plugins

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It has poor security controls like MFA & SSO. And even if you add these plugins, they all by different MFRs/vendors, and there's no consistent logic flow of configuration to these features. Each vendor has their approach of the way they configure their software

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The user interface is too large and it's admin panel could be better with user details. Benefits: easy to use for users as it's geared specifically for that

 ### 29. Unnecessary hangs after some hours

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sahil . | Solution Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Creating intra department groups to chat is one of the best feature, unlike other communication app where you've to depend on IT team to create internal groups with this you can simply create your own.

Chatting is also very smooth and convenient doesn't lag much.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Whenever you leave the slack open for some time and disconnect from the internet - slack just dies, you'll have to manually close it from menu and then restart in order to see any messages.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Does the work. Smoothness is one of the best feature but frequent connection timeout makes this app crash a lot. It also help to interact within company without having to go to IT team always.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intra-department communication, Easy to make groups, link sharing, file sharing.

 ### 30. Slack is functional but lacks the options that most other messaging systems offer.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Basically, It's free. It works. That's about it.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The notification process that comes with the program can lead to a lot of missed messages.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Notifications can be problematic. Benificial attributes are that it's free and you can cross talk within various groups

 ### 32. Slack review

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It is a very easy-to-use tool to send messages within your organization.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The only thing I dislike about this tool is the call feature. It never works smoothly for me without cutting the call or losing the connection in between. It happens everywhere: Web app, Desktop app, and Mobile app (Android + iOS)

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has many inbuilt tools available that you can use for daily standup, polls, etc.

 ### 33. Average workspace for business

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nityam P. | Vice President, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Interface is quite clean. Easy to develop/use apps.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Limited functionalities. Audio and video calls not supported.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Not a great product. Does not have any meeting option.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for instant messaging in our organization. Low cost is only standout component.

 ### 34. Slack is not what it used to be

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

slack is good in certain things like
Channels,
Emoji integration
Gifs

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack’s search is much slower
Video chat feature is non existence
Slack has been inconsistent lately, iOS and desktop app crashes constantly

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chat functionality among the people in my organization. It was good at first over time it is slow, clunky and hard to maintain. We eventually moved to Microsoft Teams and we are in much better shape. Plus Microsoft Teams is free and comes as part of Office 365 product.

 ### 35. Another version of GroupMe

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I don't particularly find Slack to be useful. I used Slack for a couple of student organizations. The reason behind using Slack rather than GroupMe or other platforms was being able to create your own emojis/reactions.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It is not as organized as other platforms. I personally find GroupMe and WhatsApp much more organized and would rather use them instead of Slack.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

No advice.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to communicate with my research group and have polls (counted by the different kinds of reactions) in groups.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

In my review I like to direct messege or uses whatsapp telegram instead of slack.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There is no benifit of using slack . I was on slack because of company need .

 ### 37. work experience

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmed M. | Full Stack Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Slack?**

emojis, gifs and external connection like git ...

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

you don't have notification when someone change his message

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

you can create many rooms

 ### 38. Slack Prons and cons

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Benefits:
- It has very simple and user-friendly UI
- Built for team work
- sound quality is really good compare to Skype

Disadvantage:
- It feels like a web page
- Sometimes notification misses call or message
- unexpectedly crashed which needs reload.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

- Unexpectedly no response
- Missing notifications
- it feels like web page

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Yes slack is really good for team work and project management.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- We do standup meetings
- It has really good bot support
- It has direct git support which really good for project management.

 ### 39. Not the best UX but does the job

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna L. | Floral Hostess, Retail, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It doesn't feel like a social app, meaning people don't treat it as such. Therefore, unlike other apps such as GroupMe, messaging threads don't start to fill with personal conversations and blow up my phone.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I'm not a fan of the design and don't think it has the best UX. Visually, the app is relatively clunky and I although I see the ideas they're trying to portray, it just doesn't work.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm still unsure if it's because of my phone itself or the Slack app but receiving notifications is a nightmare. Sometimes I don't know why I even have a notification listed (as there are no new messages for me to see) while other times I'm not being alerted of notifications period.

Otherwise, I do see great benefit in being able to isolate your business in Slack instead of having all of your different Slack groups just mushing into one dashboard. It creates a more professional feel to messaging in business.

 ### 40. Overly complicated way to chat

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I do appreciate that the chat allows you to break into sub-groups based on various projects/topics that need to be discussed. This allows conversations to be had with only those directly involved, without bothering non-involved people. At the same time, many people do not check slack regularly, making it frustrating.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I dislike the complicated nature of the app. I feel like it’s just one more extra app that I consistently have to be checking. It is easier and faster to have a more integrated program like iMessage or email.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

You need everyone to buy into it or it doesn’t work.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solving is avoiding extra messaging to uninvolved participants in the discussion. For example, if I have a question specifically for the marketing department, I can message them without bothering the HR department. The benefit is making each message carry more weight because you know you are getting it for a reason.

 ### 41. Among the best, But Expensive and Overwhelming for a New User..

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Great, rich collection of settings and options. Also, it does allow fro more "Spirited" fun, casual correspondence, maybe because of the features and look of the site.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Audio and video call quality really need improvements.... but mainly, I am part of two Slack groups, one for my job at Phillips and one for a focus study group where we get to discuss and give our opinions after the study to contribute and further provide opinions. The first time I looked at he site, I was a bit confused. It is not that user friendly, I was not able to immediately know what to do or know how to participate, though the layout is pretty simple. I have not used it much before sometime took me through the steps.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I would recommend but with a good instructional session. Overall all my colleagues enjoy it, and it definitely get the job done.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration with coworkers on projects and discussing ideas for focus group discussions.

 ### 42. Review of Slack

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Venkatesh E. | MCS Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It is the best industry standard communication application. I am using it more than 5 years. It is alternative for video conferencing and regular calls. It is very user friendly. It comes with great voice quality. There are so many integrating tools we can use for different applications. Super responsive team and you can expect a response from their team with in a day.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Getting used to is bit difficult. Remote control is bit difficult.
I have to open the application again every time to see if someone has texted me or not

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Slack is an industry standard tool for internal communication it is alternative for video conferencing and regular calls. It is very user friendly.
It comes with great voice quality. There are so many integrating tools we can use for different applications. Super responsive team and you can expect a response from their team with in a day.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General client issues and troubleshooting application issues.

 ### 43. Not Worth It

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katelyn R. | Licensed Realtor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The only thing my team really liked about Slack was the chat bots to try and get you to talk or go out and get a drink. That was cute and didn't let us forget about each other. I also liked how you have have different profiles or chat groups on there.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

There is too much going on. Theres the ability to make multiple group chats or talk privately just to one person and before we knew it, my team had multiple group chats open and we don't know how that happened. It was really confusing and no one knew which group to talk in and everyone was talking everywhere (especially when new people would come in) and it just got too confusing for all of us.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Its good for a small amount of people but if you have a huge team or company, I wouldn't really recommend it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The only benefit was that my team had a place to chat all together that wasn't a big group text where we didn't know everyones number.

 ### 44. dumb and I hate it

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex H. | Marketing Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It is very good at alerting you that you have notifications, it is proprietary and it can be used in a business and personal setting

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

it encourages use for both time sensitive and time insensitive communication, it cannot be easily organized, it encourages lock-in

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Stop using Slack. I hate it; you also should hate it. It’s distracting. It murders productivity. It destroys old tools. It exploits psychological needs in such a way that it kills your soul and hangs it up to dry over a lava pit, where the clothesline catches fire and your soul falls into the fire and somehow you’re not dead, just a zombie.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

inter office communication as well as out of office and national accounts. It is good for reaching out but it is pointless because we have an open office plan so we can just use our words.

 ### 45. It was good, not great

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James H. | Lead Assist Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It's an instant form of communication. Also, it allowed multiple departments to convene to help one person at any given time.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The bot feature never worked; often time a question could be sent to the bots and a small percentage of the time the bots would know the answer. This only goes back to people helping people; if someone was using slack they were able to see their answer/response almost instantaneously. If it were minimized, there was no way to see if a response was made. This would have been most helpful, as multiple departments and people jump right in to assist the one person

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I recommend this to be a desktop tool; if someone is using it to find out information, then it should be available on the desktop with a notification of some sort should you receive a message.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack is great for when other messaging tools go down, or don't work. It allowed us to keep in contact with people if they had questions and were available on-screen.

 ### 46. Annoying

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie W. | Account Executive, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It’s a way to communicate with people in and out of your office

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It’s very slow and confusing how it groups the chats. Chats also randomly disappear. Not as easy to use as google chats also because it’s in a separate window.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are communicating via slack instead of opening additional tickets in another system. This doesn’t seem like it gets tracked as well though.

 ### 47. Good, but not quite necessary all the time.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Slack?**

When there are lots of sub-teams in large teams, it's useful. Simple and pretty effective implementation of things that are needed. Keeps people on track during projects and stuff. UI of the app is pretty good and I like it a lot. Effective implementation of stuff that are needed in apps like this.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Complexity it adds when you just want a simple group chat. Not many have it, so have to get people to install it. If it was part of another common app like WhatsApp, would be nice.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Look at this if you are working on small teams with larg projects! It's pretty useful. and keeps you guys working at the right time.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I liked the collaboration and the constant communication it facilitated . It is good to have the entire time updated about what is going on with the project as well.

 ### 48. It never really grew on me

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Auðbergur G. | Senior Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack is a fast and snappy software. It does everything I expect it to do pretty well and the software seems really stable.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

To me the user interface is note intuitive enough. I'm however used to using Microsoft Teams so that colors my opinion and I'm sure most users will like Slack.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

I recommend taking a look at the feature set and comparing it to other similar software. I personally prefer MS Teams but I guess it depends on users.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team uses Slack for communicating and sending files. I find it a really nice feature to being able to see when a colleague was last online. Sending instant messages is also a lot more natural than emails as the conversations flow better and everything is more informal.

 ### 49. A Great App! However, the app's functionality can be duplicated with other apps.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ronak G. | Tutor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The app is easy to use and makes it easy to collaborate with peers.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I can use other apps for doing the same things I can do with Slack.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am not experiencing any problems currently. However, I have noticed my productivity rise when I am using Slack for a project or for an assignment.

 ### 50. Propietary source team communication

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier R. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Its easy to follow projects and communicate with persons, can exchange code, files and have scheduled meetings and have integration with bots and more.

They have availability for all platforms and operating systems.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Its centralized, closed source, you cannot setup your own server, joining to a room each time confirming the email is annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering Slack:**

Is kind of messy joining each time to a new group and its centralized and closed source

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improve team communication
