I don't like the name of the teacher isn't at the end of the class. I work in two different institutions, so sometimes finding the class I 'm looking for is difficult. Surprises after updates that I am not ready for! :) Right now, another piece is trying to merge a secondary gradebook with Standards. Our experience with Skyward Student has been very positive. We did extensive research before selecting our SIS after years of switching between other systems and feel we have selected a vendor partner for a long-term relationship with our district. I do feel that the staff at Skyward, and in particular product managers like Leah Kruger, truly do listen to the needs of their clients and it shows. Skyward has the flexibility to accommodate the many different ways that school districts operate and the fact that they have one of the largest customer bases of any SIS product is reflected in the ability we have to customize the solution to meet our needs. Skyward, as an integrated student management system, gradebook, and family portal, provides our families with easy access to their student's education and allows us to be more responsive to their questions and feedback. Skyward helps put information into the hands of everyone who needs it, and especially parents and students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Skyward Student Information System? We are on the SMS 2.0 platform currently and the Qmlativ platform started to roll out the same year we implemented Skyward Student. While SMS 2.0 is more full-featured and mature than Qmlativ and was and is the right choice for us, we are finding that the enhancements we need or want are now being side-lined or put on hold because Skyward is not investing as heavily in product development for their "older" product even though it is the one used by the vast majority of their clients. This is disappointing and frustrating for us as newer clients for Skyward Student and results in an uphill battle when we find a product feature that is lacking. We have been told several times that a feature request we need would be considered only for Qmlativ and not for SMS 2.0. I don't consider that acceptable but unless it is a state reporting need we are not always getting major changes that we need. We are a Texas client as well, and Skyward has done nothing to prepare for the recent changes in our state accountability system around college, career, and military readiness. We have to use third-party systems to analyze and predict our CCMR ratings even though every data element to calculate this criteria can or does reside in Skyward already (test scores, data elements for state reporting, course history, etc.) This is disappointing as well. Recommendations to others considering Skyward Student Information System: You will most likely not be offered the option to evaluate or purchase SMS 2.0 and references from SMS 2.0 clients are not necessarily reflective of the customer experience on Qmlativ, the newer product. Skyward Student has allowed us to streamline many of our student systems. Prior to the implementation, we had separate systems for student management, food service, RTI, graduation plans & course requests, health services, etc. Skyward has allowed us to integrate all these features and helps us to know more about our students without needing to switch between multiple systems or paper files to do so. A major selling feature for us was the student profile screen in Skyward. It puts every piece of information we have in Skyward Student in one place where it is easily accessible to those who need it. Another bonus for us is the online enrollment and returning student registration modules. Before Skyward, our enrollment and student registration processes were paper-based so it was difficult to get accurate data on anticipated enrollment during the spring and summer when registrars were off-duty, but the hiring process was in full swing. With Skyward’s online enrollment and registration solutions, that has completely changed. It is a complete system. It contains almost everything we need to manage our schools, eliminating the need for other software packages. In addition, the support is wonderful. Very fast response time. Skyward is more intuitive than other attendance and student management software I have previously used. Student information is easy to export into an excel file and then manipulate outside the software for basic things like student rosters that include birthdays. Using the data within skyward is also easy to do. Inputting grades, while having a learning curve, is also head and shoulders above the other two data management softwares I have experience with. I suppose it could be easier to generate a list of student birthdays without going into the grade book. This is not do able from the general student roster. And printing some reports as is, leaves a small font with little space between the words. I solved this by exporting data I wanted to manipulate or increase font size for. I like that it is easy to put grades in for multiple students and classes as a time. There is a quick score feature where you can place grades in a quick and easy way and see every assignment that you have ever graded. What do you dislike about Skyward Student Information System? Class titles/names can be confusing. It is listed in my Skyward program as Science class 1, 2, 3, etc. This is fine until the class names have to be changed or the schedule changes because the old class name is present while I should be using only the new class names.
