## Skillshare Reviews
  ### 1. Fantastic Community with Great Teachers and Amazing Content

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julio E. R. | Gerente de Servicio al Cliente, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

It is a fantastic community, full of great teachers and amazing content.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Some subjects need more content, it feels unbalanced to see a lot of content for some and barely anything for others.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been in need of easy access to short courses with good instructors for years, and I finally found just that.

  ### 2. it is fine if you are looking for a specific quick fix of learning dose

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

It is simple no pressure of spending hours of time and also quick fix solutions for problem.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

It has narrow scope of products like financial courses are not there much of it and also a bunch of stuff from code to maybe marketing is missing from there.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skillshare has made education easy and bit sized like 10 min classes or an hour long classes on topic like AI in small lectures.

  ### 3. Lost $174 because I forgot to cancel

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel F. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

There's a good selection of learning resources. It's a simple and easy learning experience.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Don't forget to cancel. Most people don't plan on using this forever. If you're in this group, remember to cancel your membership.

It's easy to forget and of course ...

There's a zero refund policy on renewals.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm learning how to write better cover letters, at the moment.

  ### 4. Terrible Customer Service & Sneaky Practices

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tamara L. | Jewelry Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

Many of the classes were of a good quality and I used it for years, learning many new skills.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

After using Skillshare for several years under a monthly plan, they booted me out of the plan without any notice. Then, every time I logged in, I was pointed to a screen where I had no choice but to subscribe to a costly annual plan. When I contacted customer service they were incredibly unhelpful and pretended like I just suddenly wasn't a subscriber anymore and that there was no wrong on their end. I imagine that Skillshare must suddenly want to convert their earlier monthly members who were paying $9.99 a month to yearly members and this was a sneaky, incredibly unprofessional way to go about it. I can't imagine how many members they have upset with this bizarre move.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They aren't solving any problems at this time.

  ### 5. Lack of good customer support.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin H. | Director, Strategic Business Innovation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I was initially attracted to the variety of creators.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The quality of the creators I viewed wasn't great. The customer service seemed helpful at the beginning, but they turned out not to be as Skillshare has some unusual policies.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

If you do try it out and are not happy, make sure you cancel at least 2 days before your expiration date. If not, they will charge you and will absolutely not refund you under any circumstance. This is not the norm with subscription-based services, but it is with SkillShare.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was trying to get better at video shooting and editing. I didn't really get a ton of benefit. I learned some things no doubt, but the quality wasn't what I expected.

  ### 6. Huge variety of classes on different subjects with effective demonstrations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase L. | Strategist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I have used other online learning services like Masterclass in the past. Those can be entertaining since they are hosted by celebrities, but they can edge towards philosophical and storytelling rather than hands-on demonstrations. Skillshare's classes tend to be more demonstrative in nature and I think I have gotten more value out of them.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The quality in Skillshare courses can vary. Most are very good, but sometimes you have to sift through a couple of courses on the same topic to find one that is a good fit and actually teaches what you are hoping to learn. As a result, sometimes combing through the catalog can get a little tedious.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Get the free trial offered by many YouTubers and podcasters to watch a course and see if you get enough value to subscribe regularly.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a freelance photographer, I have used Skillshare to level up my skills in all aspects of my business. This includes the creative aspects of photography like lighting, technique, etc., but also the business aspects of building a portfolio, how to negotiate with clients.

  ### 7. Good content for Graphic designers, Painters, and Artists

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditi M. | SDE 3, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

The platform is focused more on the creative industry and self-help domain. Graphic designers, painters, and lifestyle artists will find the platform really helpful.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The platform doesn't have any quality content for the technical domain. Also, any particular course doesn't cover the full length and breadth of the topic. Short-length course leads to fragmented learning.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you want to explore a different domain and don't have too much time to invest, Skillshare is the platform for you. It covers a large number of domains with short-length courses.

  ### 8. Helpful but need improvements!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishav R. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

For years we needed a proper platform for the beginners and new creators to learn skills useful for their career and profession. I grew up in a country where education system don't let you explore your true intrests and talents, and focus majorly on learning old methods which could get you in a job to secure life. but many people today including me want to learn what they truly want and enjoy their life while earning good. And thats why someothing like skill share is doing great job in helping people find their true talents and push their limit by educating them what truly matters.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

If there was only skillshare doing the job it does, there wouldn't have been a dislike, but there are many similar applications and there is Youtube, the biggest and most challenging competition of skillshare and likewise applications, which teaches everything for free, is in way better quality, have a community of millions and is up to date in every tutorial you need.
Taking about cons of skills share here are few:
 1. Lack of certification to prove the complete learning. (Not necessary but can be provided)
2. Annoying ads popping up now and then.
3. Tutorials of many software are not up to date.
4. Poor video quality

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Okay, so what I'm going to say next will be from a designer's point of view. I don't know what skill you are going to learn at skillshare, but this is from my experience, which was neutral. I didn't find anyhting which I was missing from the largest video platform in the world - Youtube! and I will stick to it for now!
But maybe you want to learn something different, which people on youtube are not teaching efficiently, and for that you can give skillshare
a try. Happy Learning! Best Of Luck!

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a self-learned graphic designer and use over 10+ apps for my professional projects and artworks. , Most of them I learned from youtube, which never disappointed me. Everything I needed was right there at one click of a button, though the problem was everything seemed scattered. All bits and pieces of information were here and there.
I heard the name of skillshare in early 2020 by their youtube ads focusing on artists and designers, and I thought, let's give it a try! why not? Maybe i will find something helpful, and I was right. Everything was great, brilliant teachers, great set of courses, affordable prices, and even free trials.
But nothing was amazing, it was good but not mind-blowing. I was solving all these problems already with Youtube. The only benefit was that it was organized and separate.

  ### 9. Keep Up Learning and Develop Your Skills with Skillshare

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Swopon K. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

The best thing is I can enroll in all the courses after subscription. That makes me free from buying the courses individually. I love its interactive courses for learning graphic design and going freelance. My homepage always comes with courses related to my interests. Also, their 60 days trial is really appreciable. However, it's a library of various types of courses that can take my skills to the next level.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I have no complaint against Skillshare's services. I'm really happy with whatever they're offering.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a freelance graphic designer, I always need to update my design skills and Skillshare is providing a lot of tutorials that are really essential to sustain in the graphic design field. Also, it gives me a listing feature and I can simply look over my learning summary.

  ### 10. Absolutely love Skillshare, definitely recommended for designers!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krittika M. | Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

- The variety and quality of classes available
- The structure of classes, easy to follow through
- Website UI/UX
- The way they support teachers + payment systems
- Suscription Plan

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

- The mobile/Ipad app doesn't support certain features like class projects.
- They're very particular about bugs, I've accidentally had my account reported and occasionally my skillshare account disappears.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

- I would recommend you get an yearly subscription and make the most of it! It's also cheaper in the long run...

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- When I was starting out as a designer, I picked up all software skills through Skillshare.
- Excellent website to understand how top designers are working and what they're doing.

  ### 11. E-learning with short length and to the point course

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nishit C. | Senior Software engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

1. Short courses with to the point content
2. Subscription-based platform, can access all the courses at once
3. We can create our own courses into the platform
4. Taking notes is a really easy feature

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

1. Quality of courses are not so great and
2. Courses are generally created by some non-experts
3. Not so great community which shares their work or skills
4. Don't cover wide areas of skills and knowledge

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Cover larger domains of skills and knowledge
2. Community is not great. Need to work on that.
3. A lot of courses are literally very short to provide relevant knowledge

  ### 12. Cheated out of $168.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I haven't used SkillShare's service and don't have an interest in it.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Predatory subscription model. I created an account when a colleague mentioned it, which requires a credit card. SkillShare is using the popular tech money grab strategy of a subscription model nobody wants. In large font - the monthly price; in tiny font - the fact that it would be billed annually. I will risk forgetting to cancel a trial in exchange for a one-month charge to my card, but annual by default is business in bad faith. I tried rejecting the charge via my bank, but apparently, that didn't process successfully. Unfortunately, with bank delays, I wasn't sure that it hadn't successfully rejected the charge until it was too late. Their explicit policy is "We don't offer refunds for annual memberships after 7 days of the charge."

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't even used the service.

  ### 13. Bad Customer Service Experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

There were some unique courses that I'm not sure I would be able to find in other services

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Expensive subscription. I was charged monthly following a free trial and was not notified that my card was being charged. I ended up paying a lot of money for a service I wasn't even using. It was also painfully difficult to cancel it. When I reached out to customer service about it, they were largely unhelpful. I think that instead of tricking customers into accidentally paying for their service, they should focus on motivating customers to want to actively purchase their content.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

I would say, make sure you are actually interested in the courses and don't expect customer service to be helpful

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not sure I received many benefits from Skillshare. Some of the content was interesting, but not worth the price in my opinion

  ### 14. Terrible experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I don't really have anything positive to say. I had very negative experiences with the customer service of this company and I cannot recommend using their service.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The content is shallow, often worse than what you can find on youtube for free. Not only that, they give a free trial then charge you credit card for a year ($99) without warning, and refuse to refund when complaints are made.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Be very careful about signing up for the apparently free trial, because you can be charged on your credit card without notice.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't really had any benefits, other than being more careful not to sign up with sketchy services in the future. I would definitely not recommend using the service to others.

  ### 15. Great Platform for Lifestyle Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

There are SO many different courses, with a variety of teachers. Each has video content, with actionable items (usually a project) for you to implement immediately what you learned. There is a class discussion board to interact and ask questions, as well as the ability to see other projects and get additional ideas. You can also save courses and create lists of courses so you can have a working list of courses to engage in for your interests. It also keeps track of the courses you are currently watching so you can jump right back in. There are a variety of lengths to the courses as well, so you can choose how intensely you want to dive into a course at any particular moment. You are also able to "follow" different instructors, and see immediately what other courses they offer. You are also given recommendations to similar courses of interst.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The only downside is that the mobile app doesn't allow you to see the resources. You must be on a computer to access these items. Also, on the mobile device you cannot make different lists, but it does appear as though you can create multiple lists of courses through the desktop version. One way to get around this is to open a browser on your mobile device to visit the desktop site, but this is not nearly as convenient as having everything accessible through the app.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skillshare is particularly beneficial for enhancing aspects of your lifestyle, for example, productivity, motivation, and hobbies (e.g. watercoloring, music, drawing). I have been able to become more productive with my time, manage emails more efficiently, as well as enhance my artistic skills.

  ### 16. You get back what you put in

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paige R. | Freelance Writer/Copywriter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love the fact that Skillshare has so many opportunities to learn new skills and develop your current ones. There is literally something for everyone from how to draw to how to apply makeup and how to use marketing for social media or your business!

I highly recommend trying the 2-month free trial and I promise you'll fall in love! I didn't believe the hype until I tried it and from there I was hooked! At the time my trial was up I couldn't afford it so I didn't purchase it, but for the next 6 months, it was still on my mind so when I got the money of course I invested and am so glad I did!

The teachers' steps are always easy to follow and take notes on and the tips aren't generic. Let's say you look at 3 videos on how to start a blog. They might have the same underlying agenda, but you come away with 3 completely new and fresh ideas of how to approach the same thing. That makes it easy to figure out what kind of techniques will work best for you instead of high-level generic information that really doesn't help anybody.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I honestly have nothing I dislike so far. The process to reactivate my account was pretty easy with minor hiccups. The link to reset my password after reactivation didn't work, but they were able to go in and manually fix it and after that, I've had no trouble at all!

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Make sure you're really going to use it. I would try to take at least one class a week and don't feel like you have to do it all in one sitting. Definitely interact with the teachers and other students by creating projects. That will help you get good feedback and grow overall!

The teachers are definitely genuine and give their best tips to help you succeed and grow in your craft. It's not just art, photography, videography, marketing, social media, writing, and blogging! There are lifestyle, productivity and business classes to fit your needs too.

I truly think this is definitely a diverse platform that will take you to success! It's all about what you put into it. If you do nothing with the tips then, of course, you're going to be stagnant, but if you buckle down and try to implement what you learn no matter how hard it may be at first, you'll definitely start seeing results. Remember, that somethings will take time to see improvement while others can be instant! Don't give up and if you can, do the annual payment so you don't have to worry about a monthly bill and save money.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm working on a variety of things. Mostly I'm working on my writing and blogging and then my social media marketing. I've learned so many good tips about how to make my writing better by using Google Analytics and how to structure my writing.

I've also learned how to make an effective content calendar and how to balance writing on topics I like and my readers will like. I never thought to create a survey and add an area where readers can give me their email address so they can sign up for my newsletter. It actually worked and now I have a good survey making platform to use!

For social media, I realized that the presentation is so, so, so important. I've learned how to elevate my photography game with different apps and photography techniques that I never would've thought of with my DSLR and iPhone. It can be challenging to implement at times, but the more I do it, the easier it's getting and I have the great teachers on skillshare to thank for that.

Following their idea to look at Instagram analytics of the best time to post has helped a ton too! I'm getting more reach and people are exiting off less because I'm providing quality content and a pleasing aesthetic. I never knew how to use all of the analytics to my advantage, but with a couple of easy steps, I'm reading them like a pro and making good use of them! Who knew that being analytical can actually help you get more creative!

  ### 17. Always Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hayley K. | Director of Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love how easy it is to find a course of what you're looking for, and the ease of reading others' reviews. A lot of well informed instructors sharing their valuable insights, and they earn something for their work. I appreciate this platform so much!

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

There are occasionally under qualified instructors, or classes that are not top notch, but those are few and far between. I do judge a course by it's cover imagery, but some of those courses with the not so great cover art are the most helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

You can almost always find a Youtuber sponsored by Skillshare, so make sure to take advantage of the free two month trial if possible.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to study and brush up on things before taking exams to earn my various industry certifications, those certifications helped me land my current job.

  ### 18. Powerful Resource for Learning New Skills

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany H. | Director of Alumnae Relations, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I am so glad that my friend told me that this platform existed. I was looking for a way to improve my video and graphic design skills without investing a lot of money in the class. Really talented people from different industries have created content for this site, so you can learn everything from new cooking skills to how to process data.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I wish there was a way to rate the courses and see how highly rated they are, as some classes are amazing and others are more basic and not as interesting.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Its a great value for learning lots of new skills on your own time, without a huge monetary investment.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have improved my skillset for social media management, learned new video editing skills and found out about new apps that help me with my work.

  ### 19. Excellent internet college

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo D. | Diseñador gráfico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

The best part of skillshare is that you can select the place and time to start learning the courses they have. It's a big web of information where you can study and grow your skills, depending in what you're good, but there they have so many topics to choose, and you can have a free 2 weeks trial

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Sometimes you have to try a list of videos in order to see what you can use and what you don't need or don't want to watch. It's information from all the people, but you need to filter it.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have time to study, I'm working on a shop the entire week and need money to pay an institute. With Skillshare, I can study when I'm home.

  ### 20. Skillshare will clean out your account

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anel S. | Email Campaign Specialist, Program Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

At this point nothing
They have no proper system in place for billing
but they have fun courses

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I joined skillshare premium and it has been so useful! However a few days ago I got billed $99 over 4 times in one day essentially cleaning my bank account out and my bank thinking it was fraud(Which essentially it was) closed my account due to suspicious activity. I mailed skillshare explaining my situation and a woman mailed me back and i quote "Thanks for reaching out! As requested, I've gone ahead and made sure your membership "

1 i didnt ask to cancel my account
2 you still owe me my money

I messaged them asking them what they would need from me to do a refund on the excess amount and have heard nothing back from them...

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Try to find a way to get your bank to monitor them when they bill you

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

they have amazing content on an unstable platform

  ### 21. Great Service & Best Educational Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

SkillShare is one of the great educational platform for learning which we ever seen in our life. It's learning process, experienced instructors and affordable pricing model to everyone. I love the user interface of website as well. If you practically think about the process of learning business. We also share video courses to our employees and they learned many topics by Skillshare like Html, GIFs Creation, Adobe Photoshop and many more softwares including programming skills they learn during their free timing. I'm very much impressed with SkillShare and I love to continue our future work with SkillShare.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

They should add more payment methods like Bitcoin / Crypto payment. If they allow crypto payments then more people can join from different countries. They can be more educated within it. Otherwise there's nothing I don't like about the platform, in my opinion it's perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Yes, We area already recommending to our many business connections and our employees to learn from SkillShare for improving their skills and mindset in programming, designing & self-development. ### 22. Worst customer experience ever

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George B. | Trainer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I wish I could tell you what I love best about their website, too bad they canceled my account after charging me for a one-year Premium Subscription and I didn't get to use their shitty platform too much.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Their customer experience.

It seems like only incompetent outsourced indians look after their customers and this hurts their trust a lot. No answer in more than 30 days and I've tried to contact them everywhere - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email - and no real human tried to contact me back.

If their customer experience had been a ship, it would have been Titanic. Total failure.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Watch out for unexpected credit card charges. They will surprise-charge you somehow.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tried using it for personal development, but it's hard to watch tutorials when your account is cancelled for no reason.

  ### 24. Very helpful information

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I like that I'm able to learn more about things I'm already doing as well as new information in fields I'm not as familiar with.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I have nothing I dislike about Skillshare; it's been very useful.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been able to learn more about Digital Marketing and I've been able to better serve my clients.

  ### 25. Great website to learn anything!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michaela P. | Remote eLearning Instructional Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love Skillshare for it's variety of classes they offer. You can learn anything from knitting, to cooking, writing, logo design, analytics, photography, and so on. The platform has thousands of classes on any topic you can think of. The classes are taught by business owners, freelancers, and people loving what they teach about which is a nice change when you compare it to classes at your school where some teachers seem like they don't really care about the topic they teach.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I'd like to see the bad classes removed, but there are not too many of these. Most people make quite good classes. I'd say that most of them are even above average. You can't really go wrong for the money you pay.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

You can't find a cheaper solution with the amount of classes Skillshare offers. They run promotions all the time and you can get 3 months for free or $0.99 and after that pay around $10/month - it's even cheaper when you prepay for the whole year. Most of the classes are taught very well by professionals in the industry. The classes are short and tackle particular skills. You can't go wrong with trying out Skillshare.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skillshare is a platform that provides very inexpensive education. The classes are usually short and you learn specific skills. Every class should include a project where you immediately put your new skills to work. You can get feedback from your classmates and the teacher as well. You can even win prizes sometimes. It's a great community that offers help from others in addition to the skills you learn by watching the videos.

  ### 26. Massive Streaming Issues

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate P. | Grants Coordinator, Performing Arts, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love the concept and have found a few classes I like.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

The platform seems to have streaming issues. Both the website and the Android app take forever to load and frequently stall. I've tried on several devices, so it's not a device or browser issue, and I can watch Netflix and YouTube with no issues or stall at all, so it isn't my internet.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

I think it's marvelous if they'd fix their user experience, but as it is, I most certainly will not be buying a full membership when my trial period is up.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am so excited to learn new skills to use at work and in hobbies.

  ### 27. Skills for creatives

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I like the wide variety of courses that are available in many different areas that support creatives in business. The fact that you can take courses on digitizing watercolor painting alongside how to structure your business is really handy!

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

It can be difficult to know what the course actually entails - the syllabus doesn't seem to be very detailed.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

I would recommend doing a free month/signing up for a monthly plan until you know that you'll get value out of an annual membership. There are a lot of courses to sift through, which can be great, but it's helpful to have a good understanding of what you actually need to learn before jumping in.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a fun way to see things that are popular that you may not have thought "I need to know this" and shows you what people are interested in. This helps to tailor other content and ideas.

  ### 28. Great website to build your skills

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love the teachers who have put their experience/expertise in a specific subject into a video format. I also love how the lessons are broken up so you can jump back to rewatch a video for references or come back and complete the lesson later on. I also enjoyed how there were emails that showed recommended courses!

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Being a student I was not a fan of the pricing of the product. It does cost $100 for the subscription up front, but I think it would be better to have a type of monthly subscription plan to help ease the financial burden of a student.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Take advantage of the different types of videos. You never know if some of those skills can come in handy later on. I definitely loved the photography video lectures!

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are a lot of videos that are introductory, which can help build a foundation for a specific area. As well as multiple other videos to help build up your soft skills, such as leadership and organizational. I find that it's sometimes hard to really pinpoint what you need help with when it comes to soft skills and having video references are great for people who don't know exactly how to start to improve those skills or who don't have the opportunity to work on them.

  ### 29. Skillshare is a solid way to teach and learn on an e-platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

Whether you're using Skillshare as a platform to teach or as a learner, it is a easy to navigate and utilize tool. It offers a variety of classes that can be used in the classroom or to learn yourself. It also offers the ability for you to upload your own classes.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

It can be a little tricky to navigate all the classes that are offered. There could be a better set up for organizing/categorizing.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

If you're looking to create a flipped classroom type course, this can be a really effective tool, but only users can access your classes.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This allows for flipping the classroom in a very effective way. It let me create individualized learning and allowed me to continue learning skills to share within my own classroom.

  ### 30. Pricey, but quality on-the-go learning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

Skillshare has done an amazing job providing a very wide variety of tech and non-tech centered courses. The quality and range of content is exactly what I was looking for. They also run very good marketing campaigns, allowing new users to use a one month free trial before subscribing.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

There is no discount for students, and there is no structure that allows you to subscribe at different price points. If you don't want to pay $99 for the unlimited plan, there is no cheaper option (although they do offer some free abbreviated courses).

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Use the free trial to try before you commit to the full price.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skillshare has allowed me to learn how to better my illustration skills, and helped me learn new skills in Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects.

  ### 31. Learning with Skillshare

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie N. | Owner, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I like the price and many of the courses

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

More free courses should be available on.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

I would like to see more free versions so that anyone who can afford the site can still learn from the site.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skillshare gives you access to many courses at a great price. I also like that skillshare also gives professionals or experts the option of making money off there own course. I also like the price and the video formats because it's easy to use.

  ### 32. Skillshare is a scam.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yolande Christelle D. | DIY Creator, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I though I was going to have access to high quality instructional videos, which they offer pretty good teases of but the actual content was below satisfactory.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

They have predatory billing practices and have just stolen $100 for a service I did not request. They also are not responsive. At all. It really has left a bad taste in my mouth.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Don't sign up for this service. They will charge you and subscribe you to services you did not request. They are taking advantage of your credit card information.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. I have more problems now that I'm a $100 poorer!

  ### 33. I love the wide variety

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love Skillshare because there are such a wide variety of lessons and videos to learn from and really helped me hone my skills.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

It got a little pricey for me and unfortunately I had to stop using it.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am running a greeting card business and it helped to hone my skills of hand lettering, digitizing my work, and illustration.

  ### 34. A terrific tool for self-educating!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda D. | Inbound Strategist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

There is SUCH a wide array of skills and topics covered in some form or another. And the team does a great job of maintaining high-quality content from the instructors and their presentations. I also really like the class suggestions - I've found many that I'm very interested in simply because they've been suggested based on my interests. Awesome!

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I have not yet come across anything that I do not like yet. I guess I'd like to see more in-person classes/workshops in the Denver area.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

If you're looking for self-education tools, this is a great one! The class/workshop selection is robust and the ability to tune in when you have the time is super convenient.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for continued education in this digital age is tremendous. Skillshare makes it easy to learn new skills by providing classes and workshops in an on-demand setting for busy professionals.

  ### 35. Liked Skillshare

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I liked that I could communicate with instructors though email.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I heard that all of the instructors are not licensed, or even involved in their profession for a long period of time.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

I would focus on hiring teachers with more experience.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I question the quality a bit. I was hoping for more personalized one-on-one contact.

  ### 36. Easy to use learning platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anand C. | CTO, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I've enrolled in multiple classes on Skillshare and I've found the platform pretty easy to use and reliable. I was also able to communicate with the instructors via the platform, which is a plus.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I don't see a way to communicate with other students who have taken the same classes that I have. That would have been useful.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

It is worth a shot. Check their built-in tools to see if they have got everything you need for your specific use case.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problem this platform solves is the need for continuous learning and improvement. All of our team members, senior leadership included, need to learn new skills every few months. The main benefit of Skillshare is that it provides this continuous improvement/learning in bite-sized chunks of 15 minutes each.

  ### 37. Descent Leanring Platform

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph D. | Marketing Associate, Computer Networking, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

There are some interesting classes in a variety of different areas.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I had a problematic charge dispute with the company. Fortunately I was given a full refund thanks to the customer service at SkillShare. Make sure you follow up with the company if you feel as though you were charged unfairly.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Reconsider

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for a bit of crowd-sourced education in a number of areas, with some good classes here and there.

  ### 38. Great for Creative Minds

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I like the rating system. This helps me determine the usefulness of a video set. I also like how Skillshare is constantly expanding it's catalogue and categories of interest. It's definitely not just for artists -- this is for creative learners. I like the user-contributed project galleries because I find it inspiring to see what other people have done after taking a course. I also like how they have an app so that I can continue videos on the go.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Some of the courses are not well-vetted. That's why the reviews are helpful. Some of the courses do not have high-quality presenters or they are poorly made and edited. While I know Skillshare is trying to get more content, I do believe they should have some threshold for quality of courses. Although, there are PLENTY of courses that have excellent, interesting presenters with great quality.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

Great for inspirational ideas for creatives.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helpful for me to learn new skills on an individual level.

  ### 39. Lots of great ideas

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael A. | Graphic Design | Illustrations | Brand Identity, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

I love the multiple different categories and options for learning new skills, refreshing old ones, trying different challenges, and the student project galleries. Whenever I'm just looking for a new idea or a fresh take on an old one, skillshare is definitely one of the stops that I take to get the creative juices flowing.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I would like more options for advance/expert level tutorials and workshops, as well as more ... just many many more classes. In the design world there are always the "basic" tutorials out there but skillshare has really proven itself in finding either new tutorials or new ways to present older information.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

From beginner to advanced tutorials, skillshare finds top notch "teachers" in a plethora of fields to get you going on your next project.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I primarily use skillshare to spark a different take toward a new project and sometimes often find answers to questions that I didn't even know that I had. Some of the classes are a bit basic when it comes to design but the more advanced stuff is definitely worth the time and effort.

  ### 40. I use these classes for growth marketing, random DIY projects and art and writing classes.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amber E. | Yoga Instructor, Leisure, Travel & Tourism, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

The diversity of courses offered. You can find something about anything. You can also play the classes at 2x speed so you can take an hour long class is 30 minutes which can be super helpful if it is something you just want to get the bullet points from.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

I don't like that you have to enroll in the course to see all of the videos. Some of the teachers are not legitimate, and you can mostly sort through that with the reviews, but its nice to not have to enroll in a course to find out.

**Recommendations to others considering Skillshare:**

They offer a great free trial : three months for .99 cents. It allows you to get a feel for what classes are offered and the kind of teachers on the site. Three months is enough time for even the busiest of people to find some time to take a few classes: Again, using the 1.5x or 2x speed to go through them a little faster when crunched for time. More people should search for consistent self improvement.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have learned a lot about growth, especially in terms of social media. What kind of content to share and how to manage it.

  ### 41. Great tool for learning with many options

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

The variety of offerings and easy to follow videos.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Not much to complain about but one of the classes I wanted to sign up for was no longer available. Would love to be able to access archived material.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used outside of work for personal development and skill building.

  ### 42. Limited Use / Fairly Helpful

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa D. | Learning Services Copy Editor / Coordinator, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Skillshare?**

Affordable and easy to use with a wide variety of topics.

**What do you dislike about Skillshare?**

Not as in-depth as you can get with training you pay more for... which makes sense.

**What problems is Skillshare solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to learn to use the InDesign tool. It's not very intuitive for me since I've always been a Microsoft Office user rather than an Adobe suite user. The course I took gave a good high-level overview, which I then used as the basis for more in-depth training later.
