What do you like best?

The convenience to build structures just with simple tools like pull, push , copy, move. It's the most fun software wher you can enjoy the process of work , it feels like playing a game to build structures , it fun easy with many shortcuts and N number of tool functions for the convenience of users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It starts to hang when the files becomes very heavy , Also when you work very fast and not give the time to load it bug splats and all the unsaved data gets cleared , it gets difficult for people who forget to save at frequent intervals . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would highly recommend SketchUp for 3d structure creation its amazing to use , its very easy , it seems to be complicated as any other tools but its the most easy one , which can be learnt in few days and you can be a master at it. It has various tools for making work easier which needs a lot of exploring I am a user since 4 years , till date I have not used every option available as its a wide range of options for all sorts of users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Making designs come live in form of 3d views and look at actual designs before execution which helps find out errors in the practical implementation of the design created . Its easy to analyze dimensions , space and proportions easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

SketchUp has the benefit of having a free version so it is more widely accessible. The paid version obviously is better, but for institutions that want to improve their toolkit without the budget to do so, this is a great option. Design is no longer one of my job duties, but I am still able to practice my 3D modeling skills by taking advantage of the free version. As far as the program itself, it is refreshing that something that can be as complicated as modeling is done in a program that does not have an off-putting UI so new users are not intimidated before they even start. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

My dislikes are very specific to my uses, and I am not sure if there are any products that do what I needed, but when I was using SketchUp for designing an exhibit it was hard to differentiate zones. We were trying to make an invisible barrier to assist in the planning process, but did not find anything that worked for our purposes. While building the exhibit that would fill a very large open space, we needed to fill in the space with our artifacts before deciding on the best physical barriers. Without being able to differentiate a zone easily without physical barriers, the planning phase was more cluttered and chaotic than it needed to be. It could have also been a learning curve issue, as well, which I would fully acknowledge if pointed out to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We solved the problems of building exhibits without reusing the same layouts and not worrying about including too few or too many objects. It is a large time sink initially, but being able to save layouts and templates makes dragging and dropping repeated exhibit furniture or other commonly used objects incredibly easy. What do you like best?

Maneuvering around this program is pretty easy thanks to the highly customizable palettes. The program gives you the freedom to add, remove, or rearrange the palettes to appear the way you want. Its large icon replaces the feature list of most CAD software thereby allowing the user to easily find the commands. Most the features provided by Sketchup are fundamentally focused on 3D designing. However, the program has features and tools that support 2D designing. This makes it an ideal application for beginners looking to plan, visualize, and communicate future construction projects.

There are three modules of Sketchup available. The Sketchup Free, which is the simplest and most accessible 3D modeler around; Sketchup for school, a core modeler that is available in web browsers; and the SketchUp Pro a paid version that provides additional functionality. These modules cover a wide scope and ensure there is a perfect version for different designer across the entire industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ALWAYS Save your work every 10 minutes or so or else if it crashes, you will loose everything! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Sketchup is a bit different from other, more recently developed and more sophisticated modeling software, but the interface is very simple to learn how to use. The tools are not very complicated and require the user to click on tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike how the interface is different than the later developed 3d modeling softwares and I think the graphics need updated because it's design seems primitive. I also dislike how difficult it is to create forms other than those with rectilinear shapes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SketchUp for Web is a software designed for the Design Development phase of architectural processes. It is also beneficial to use for experimental studio forms and models in academia. However, once projects require more detail and development it is probably best to combine your creation with another software to better document your process, as well as your ideas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SketchUp for Web is a software that we use for modeling interior spaces and then using an exterior engine to generate the realistic environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Free - fine for a quick 3D modeling for those who only need occasional use of 3D. Very simple design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Easily outgrown, too easily. The UI is ugly and doesn't correlate to Pro version, so it's not even just a stripped-down version. It feels like a completely separate program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use the free trial of SketchUp Pro instead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has been used to create very simple models, but too frustrating for anything complex and too difficult to export to share with others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
