What do you like best about Sketchfab?

What do you dislike about Sketchfab?

The depictions of women in the repository are highly sexualized. Women who do not appear overly sexualized are categorized as "housewife" characters. If you search "girl" you get similar depictions, whereas if you search "boy" you get depictions of obviously juvenile males.If you search "man" you get a diverse selection of men who are superheros, soldiers, businessmen, students... all manner of portrayals, with the exception of anything highly (or even moderately) sexual. If you search "woman" there are less choices, and of the ones available, it is difficult to find very many that are not depicted in this offensive and demeaning way. TIME TO EVOLVE, SKETCHFAB. What do you like best about Sketchfab?

Sketchfab is a free online repository that makes sharing 3D models incredibly simple. The program is easy to use and allows viewers to interact with the models without needing to download special software. It's perfect for educational purposes. You can also make the models downloadable so people can download and/or 3D print them at home. You can also make your models compatible with Virtual Reality headsets. What do you dislike about Sketchfab?

The website limits the size of the files you can upload and often distorts the quality. There is also a limit to how many models you can upload each month without making them downloadable, which can be inconvenient. However, many of these problems can be solved by upgrading to Pro or Premium membership. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Sketchfab:

I would recommend Sketchfab to anyone who wants to make their 3D models easily accessible to the public. The program limits the size and quality of the models you can upload, as well as the number of models you can upload each month depending on which type of membership you hold. I have found that upgrading to Pro or Premium status is well worth the cost! If you are an educational institution you may even qualify for a free upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sketchfab solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Sketchfab to share 3D models of historic sites and objects with the public. It makes dissemination of these products simple as users can view, manipulate, and download models without any specialized software. It's perfect for sharing with students, educators, and the general public. During the recent pandemic the program became a vital tool for sharing museum collections and interactive models of historic sites during quarantine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
