**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I think Sisense is a good tool for modeling and dashboarding. It helps with automated reporting, which is really convenient. I particularly value the Sisense ElastiCube method as well. It's important for my team as it helps us get data and modify it based on our needs. Additionally, the Sisense team is very helpful, making the initial setup process smooth and without much issue.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Many-to-many joins cause issues all the time, but the development team helps me with that.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sisense is a good tool for modeling and dashboarding. It helps with automated reporting and allows my team to modify data based on our needs.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I use Sisense for business intelligence, data visualization, and reporting. I really appreciate its easy-to-use interface, which allows me to work faster without needing advanced technical knowledge. I can quickly build and customize dashboards using drag-and-drop features, saving time and effort. I like that Sisense performs quickly and makes sharing dashboards easy. The ability to create interactive dashboards quickly makes Sisense especially valuable for turning complex data into clear, visual insights.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Sometimes advanced features take time to learn, and dashboard customization can feel limited without deeper technical knowledge. Sisense could improve advanced features by offering clearer in-product guidance, step-by-step tutorials, and more examples for complex analytics. For dashboard customization, additional layout flexibility, more visualization options, and simpler controls for advanced settings would make it easier for non-technical users.

I use Sisense for combining data from multiple sources, solving data fragmentation, and presenting clear, actionable insights through interactive dashboards.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I like how easy Sisense makes it to analyze and visualize data. The dashboards are clean, customizable, and very intuitive to use. I also appreciate the speed at which it processes large datasets and how smoothly it integrates data from multiple sources. It helps me combine multiple data sources, visualize trends, and make data-driven decisions quickly. Sisense offers better data integration, more powerful dashboards, and a smoother user experience, so switching made our analytics workflow much more efficient. The initial setup of Sisense was quite easy and straightforward. The onboarding guides and documentation were clear, and most configurations were simple to follow. Overall, the setup process was much easier than expected.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Sometimes large datasets take a little longer to refresh, and a few advanced customization options require more technical knowledge. Adding more built-in visualization styles would also make dashboard creation even easier.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I find Sisense's ability to easily create dashboards and widgets to be a huge benefit. This feature allows me to slice and filter widgets to dive deeper into areas of interest for leadership. I particularly appreciate the drill down capabilities, as they are incredibly helpful in exploring data layers. The customization options, especially through dashboard and widget scripts, have made a significant impact on how our data is presented and highlighted. For instance, using widget scripts to tailor the look and feel of widgets ensures they meet specific visual requirements. Additionally, I created a dashboard script that effectively displays the date filter in the widget title for our embedded dashboards, which conveniently allows users to see the date range at a glance without having to scroll back. Overall, these features significantly enhance our ability to gain deeper insights from our data and have been vital in making our data visualization more effective and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

I find the query builder in Sisense lacking in some areas, such as the ability to run multiple queries simultaneously. This limitation forces me to toggle between browser windows when I need to compare queries, which is inconvenient. It would be much more efficient if I could view comparison queries in the same window, similar to how SQL Server operates. Additionally, the error messages in the query builder can be too vague, especially when dealing with nested queries, making troubleshooting more difficult than it needs to be. These issues hinder my workflow and create unnecessary complexity.

I use Sisense to gain deeper insights into our data, track trends, and identify potential issues early. It helps streamline dashboard creation and customization, enabling us to present data effectively and keep leadership informed.

I appreciate the capabilities of Sisense in providing valuable business analytics dashboards to our users for over three years. Nothing new - we decided not to renew our contract with Sisense.

They had a massive security breach that impacted us financially. Their response to that was not helpful and they deprioritized customer support

We need a platform that can aggregate data from all the different sources used by our product and present a unified view of our current KPIs and progress towards hitting targets.

How easy it makes working with complex data. It pulls information from multiple sources into one place and turns it into clear, interactive dashboards that are actually useful.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

The initial setup and data modeling can take some time to get right, especially if your data environment is complex. Some advanced features also have a learning curve, so new users may need training before they feel fully comfortable.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sisense helps solve the problem of disconnected, hard-to-understand data. Before using it, we were juggling multiple spreadsheets, databases, and siloed reports that didn’t talk to each other, which made it difficult to get a clear picture. With Sisense, we can bring all of that data together in one place, so we finally have a single source of truth.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

Since we have move well towards the world of AI, the Sisense also have these features that makes user experience more interactive. Like its intelligence, generating narratives, descriptions for tables, charts, providing summaries, analysis even if one is not an expert in data. All these are enhancing the user experience.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Well sometimes its slow like Iframes for dashboards, loading the dashboards can be slow and lagged which in a way disrupts the flow. Also some features are limited to certain report functions which are required in a lot more places. Apart from there other factors are also  there like exporting data are not as feasible as others, if a user is viewing dashboards in mobile it can be hectic. Cost sometimes is also an issue for a lot of organizations as I have experienced, so these things can be looked at and improved.

Importing huge data from our source and preparing dashboards and reports on that data

We were using Snowflake and Sisense for visualization: the reports don't look good, the filter never really worked and the data took a long time to refresh. Now we moved to Databricks for both datawarehouse and BI. The dashboard and charts are great and interactive. You don't need to build a new query to add filter or modify the charts. 

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

You can't even compare it with Databricks

Some larger data sets can be mildly slow in data queries.

Sisense is automating business processes of data pull, showing visualizations to help users analyze data quickly and easily.
Dashboards to show corporate metrics, etc.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

My favourite feature of Sisense is being able double click into any visual to see the underlying query that was used to build the chart/table. This provides two primary benefits: 1) The ability to validate the source of the data to ensure you're drawing conclusion based on the correct data set; and 2) The ability to easily replicate similar visuals.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

There are some limitations on variability in the charts you create. You cannot create as complex visuals as you can in some other data visualization tools, for example map charts and auto-bucketing for histograms/

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My aim is to provide sales leaders with analytical insights to the producitvity of their sales teams. Sisense lets me breakdown large data sets into easy to interpret insights and help sales leaders make data-driven decisions and guide headcount investment decisions to paticular regions and role types.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I really enjoy the clean and simple look of the graphs in Sisense. The tool is easy to use and had relatively little to no learning curve. Sisense also simplified the way to link different tables together on one (or more) key, making it very easy without the need to use SQL. Once charts/tables/etc. are made, it was relatively easy to integrate into our systems.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

There are some limitations in the types of graphs/tables/etc. you can create compared to other data visualization tools. There seems to be more limitations on creating tables than graphs.

It would also be nice to have the ability to edit data that appears in the bubbles when hovering over graphs. 

Adding new queries could be a little more clear; I had to go through a number of trial and errors to be able to add a new query for a table. A tutorial or a message on what I was doing wrong could would have been extremely helpful.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of our data aren't accessible to all indivuduals in our organization. Sisense has helped close that bridge by allowing the ability to create data visualization/tables/etc. and the ability to integrate it into one of our systems where many others can access and view them.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

Sisense stands out for its user-friendly interface and accessible platform, making it easy for users (including non-devs) of different skill levels to create and navigate dashboards. It provides a wide set of features and components that allow us to build detailed and informative dashboards.

In the last couple years, I've used Sisense to create and maintain several dashboards. It's easy to create and implement a new dashboard, connect to multiple data sources and preview a few components (graphs, tables, etc).

The Sisense's dev team is committed to continuous improvement, regularly adding new features to keep the platform at the forefront of data analytics (several in the last 2 years). Additionally, Sisense offers comprehensive documentation, providing users with extensive guides that make our experience smoother. I've used Customer Support a few times and their feedback was really helpful.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

The data model is complex, making it difficult to implement custom rules based on user attributes, which limits the flexibility in analytics. Furthermore, the platform struggles with integration with third-party identity managers like Okta and Keycloak, complicating the process of user management and access control. I think these areas could benefit from further development to streamline the user experience and enhance functionality.

We use Sisense to integrate and analyse data from multiple sources and build comprehensive and interactive dashboards for internal users and external clients.

  ### 17. Visually pleasing, but could be simpler

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

It has a good range of visualisations, there are some fairly easy to create widgets and duplicating dashboards is simple, allowing a standard framework to be created and repeated easily.

Even with a significant amount of data in the background Sisense reports run quickly which is a huge benefit compared to the previous reporting tools I used before Sisense.

There does appear to be a lot of other integrations available but I haven’t been able to use these yet, however even with the features I have been able to use it does allow for some visually impressive reporting.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

The biggest challenges I have faced are regarding actually getting started – some things that should be really basic features or visualisations are difficult to use or understand how they work, in comparison to other BI tools. Other basic features I would expect in a BI tool are either missing or at an additional cost.

We also had some initial training delivered by the team at Sisense but this was incredibly difficult to follow and wasn’t tailored to us as a business – it was clear the Sisense team didn’t understand us or our use case, which made the training very high level and alienated a lot of our team.

I also don’t like that you can’t make different “pages” in the reports/dashboards – everything is on one page which means you either need multiple dashboards or one huge dashboard which isn’t ideal when you have a lot of information to deliver and would better deliver the data if it was segmented visually on separate pages.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it will make my reporting easier in the long run, but it has taken more time than expected to get up and running, and learning to use the tool has been trickier than expected.

Sisense is a great tool to use for data analysis and reporting. You are provided with insightful data which allows you to dive deep into the information. It's extremely easy to get a new dashboard up-and-running using basic SQL, with pleasant graphs/charts/numbers that are clear and flexible.

It's annoying to have to refresh filters for new filter values constantly. Also, it's difficult to navigate between dashboards (when logged in as an editor) in the "Dashboards" left side pane, especially with group names that aren't extremely short

We used to use Sisense to deploy dashboards to display all or most AI model results to external clients (back in the Periscope days), but now we mostly use it for internal use to build and review multi-tenant dashboards to better understand our models and model performance across clients.

Sisense has a fairly intuitive layout for organizing data and charts. It makes it easy to get to the KPI's my team and I need to evaluate our perfoormance and continue to improve.

This may just be where I'm at, but the permission sets can be tricky to navigate when attempting to get access to certain charts or data. Again, that may be ann administrative thing I'm not seeing, or that is just within my organization.

The platform allows us to aggregate data into an easy one stop shop for the specific metrics for our team. We also used it to track the cost of a bug that was affecting our platform, which helped us to highlight its importance and get it fixed faster.

Sisense is relatively easy to use if you are familiar with data visualization. It has a ton of flexibility and the team is really responsive to support requests. Our CSM meets with us once a month to make sure that everything working well.

Sisense is pretty expensive compared to some other alternatives. Our contract quote tripled from the previous contract terms, which makes it hard when it's a similar cost to a senior developer.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

The best thing about Sisense is that there's no need for coding experience. In fact, it doesn't let you use sql syntax at all. You simply select fields and apply filters and aggregations to those fields through the UI. There is also a feature to do year or year stacked visualizations that I was not able to replicate in DOMO. You can also do rolling 3mo and 12mo averages easily.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Since you can't use sql to customize calculations, you're stuck with the limited features they give you. You can't do anything conditional using CASE statements. You can only apply simple filters and aggregations. If you apply imcompatible aggregations, the data will break and may even crash your entire data set that requires refreshing. 

The design is also very ugly, to be blunt. The looks like a combination of Microsoft Paint and Windows 95.

Sisense allowed us to visualize client data in a single place with aggregated visualizations for quick insights, saving our account managers lots of time from exporting numerous raw reports to pivot and chart in Excel.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

I like the visual way data models are presented, and how easy it is to edit source queries etc while in there.
Sisense is supportive, we find it easy to schedule calls etc with them if we have issues.
It is very flexible with the look and feel via javascript, the Pivot 2.0 API, and JAQL.
Live models have been useful for us, especially the variables you can have in the connectors.

An example of the flexibility with Javascript - financial formatting of a Pivot table (linux). I used javascript to make the pivot table show: red or green for variances, brackets around negative numbers, renaming column headers so they include the name of the selected month (in a dashboard filter). I also used columns for ordering, and hid them.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Thus far, in the last 5 installations/upgrades of sisense on client sites, we have had issues preventing said installation/upgrade. We've had to reach out to Sisense for help to resolve these on 3 instances, and these issues were resolved.

Javascript is a MUST for any moderate to serious customization of dashboards/widgets. One can either use Javascript or buy add-ons on the app store (which we aren't inclined to do because of cost, and because we're trying to do things that the add-ons don't do). There's a learning investment here, especially in the the Pivot 2.0 API and Javascript.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company is whitelabelling it as their product and onselling it (and building dashboards for clients too).

Sometimes random things don't work like creating a stacked bar chart and then attempting to filter by top 10, this just doesn't work.

The data visualization options are somewhat lacking. I think creating additional options for data visualizations would be incredibly useful. Also, recurring reports that are emailed do not have attached CSVs of the report. Rather emailed reports have embedded images that links to the report in the web browser. Having these reports as attached csv directly in the email would be ideal.

**What do you like best about Sisense?**

We have been using Sisense for the last 2 yers now and it has transformed the reporting capability within our business. We use it embedded inside our product so our clients can understand their own data.
We also use it internally not only for management reporting, but also to aid our operations team to manage their day to day tasks. Its really simple and intuitive for non-techies to use.

The great thing is the business now own the reporting and not IT

Linking to our existing SQL databases works like a charm and we can have a mixture of cached and live cubes, depending on the frequency of change. 
It has great choice of data visualization options availables which look really smart and the filtering and drilldown capabilities are really helpful for users to 
gain valuable insight in the data.

Sisense provide great online support and training videos and the account management/support team are really good.
The embbeding into our cloud solution using both Single Sign-on and with our bespoke data security requirements was a challenge but we got there in the end. We are also using the Sisense.JS library 
as well to embed individual widgets into our web pages.

I really like the fact that the company is always striving to improve the product with a number of new features added all the time.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Dashboards can sometimes take a long time to load and our environment can occastionally lock up, requiring a restart of the environment on the server

**Recommendations to others considering Sisense:**

We compared Sisense to other leading BI vendors and choose Sisense as Its really simple and intuitive to use, connects to all our data so we can seamlessly report on this and the company continue to add new features.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sisense allows us to bring all our data together in one place. It allows allows our business users to support our customers needs on a day to day basis. They "own" the product. They build the reports. No more IT involvement.

Sisense allowed us to transform what was previously a static / historical look back at how customers performed over the last quarter. This is too late to act on anything. Now we have realtime dashboards that the end users can run whenever they want and we have created Pulses to alert people when something important happens.

Internally this has also allowed our business to get a better understanding of the business , both financially and from an operational point of view. We also use this as an operational reporting tool to assist our customer success team to do their job

We are so happy with Sisense, when we recently purchased another company, we have now bought a second Sisense environment and are migrating them away from PowerBI as it is easier to use, and costs a lot less

I appreciate the ease at which we can develop new dashboards to bring some visualizations to our users rapidly.  The interface is intuitive and easy to customize.  You can easily imbed your queries and stored procedures which drive your result sets and then easily integrated those into a handful of charts.

The sharing of dashboards to users is simple and makes extending the visualizations to a wide variety of recipients very easy.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Overall the tool lacks robustness with respect to driving interactive analytics.  There is no capability of importing data models into the platform which limits the functionality to indepenedent data sets and no real multi-dimensional analysis.

We have been using Sisense Periscope since 2018 and we are very happy with the product. It empowers anyone in the company with SQL knowledge to create dashboards and share them with others. This tool is really the fastest way from data to insights when you are prototyping or exploring.

Once you reach a certain level of complexity with your dashboards you will hit limits either in terms of performance or dashboard usability. In these cases it's better to move to more advance data tools that allows to better slice and dice the data. Still we are very happy to keep Sisense Periscope for the initial exploratory phase.

I found the billing/support system to be tricky to navigate. The analytics and data visualization features in Sisense are incredibly powerful. I can create highly informative and interactive dashboards that have greatly improved our data analysis capabilities.

What's even better is the level of customization it offers. I can tailor my dashboards and reports to suit my specific needs, adding widgets, charts, and other elements to make the data come alive.

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

While there's a lot to appreciate about Sisense, there are a few aspects that I found less than ideal. The cost can be a concern, especially for smaller businesses or startups, as it leans towards the pricier side. Additionally, despite Sisense's reputation for a user-friendly interface, there's still a learning curve, which might pose challenges, particularly for those new to business intelligence and data analytics tools. Highy integratable with common databases in which you can turn into nice looking dashboards useful for monitoring and internal and external performance visibility tracking

**What do you dislike about Sisense?**

Set-up in terms if dashboard design can be tedious - would require someone to be well adept on designs to create a dashboard. The technical side can be intimidating as well as need fair knowledge on integrations.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data are in silos and they don't communicate with each other. What's even more painful on the daily basis is that for someone, say an Analyst would need to open a lot of tools just to create a report.

Simple to use and has all the necessary functionalities. Very flexible and can be tweaked to accommodate most use cases (although not the most efficient in some cases). Lastly, plenty of visualization options that make it easy to find insights!

Each widget is an independent qury, making it very inefficient regarding database cost. Lacks flexibility for data exploration (i.e., changes need to be made in the query). Lastly, users cannot create explorations.

Query necessary information and visualize them to get business insights. In addition, I use Sisense for dashboarding to help cross-functional teams track key metrics.

The dashboards are fast and don't require staging data, but instead directly interface with the database.  Dashboard development is almost instantaneous,  you just write a SQL query and pick the visualization from a drop down menu.  Easy to iterate quickly.

Not as much customization as my customers sometimes request in the dashboards.

**What problems is Sisense solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I get easy, quick to build, visualizations of my database queries.  It helps me know all aspects of product performance, revenue tracking, customer behavior, etc.
