## Simplify3D Reviews
  ### 1. Process-Based Workflow and Excellent Supports Make Slicing Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

The process-based workflow is what hooked me. Being able to assign completely different settings—layer height, speed, infill, and temperature—to different sections of the same model is something I haven’t found done as well anywhere else. Custom support placement is also excellent: supports release cleanly, the surface finish is preserved, and I’ve stopped dreading post-processing.

The slicer is fast, and the pre-print preview is detailed enough to catch real problems before they happen. Setup was painless too; my printer was on the compatibility list out of the box, with sane defaults. For an intermediate user who doesn’t want to spend hours dialing in profiles, it strikes a great balance between control and usability.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

The update cadence is the main frustration. Free alternatives like PrusaSlicer and Orca push fixes and features constantly, while Simplify3D moves much slower. A few modern features, tree supports, better Klipper integration, are either missing or underdeveloped compared to what the open-source slicers now offer. Customer support has also been hit or miss; when I ran into an issue early on, the community forums were more useful than official channels. None of this kills the experience, but for a paid product it's a fair criticism.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

nconsistent print quality and painful support removal were my two biggest time sinks before switching. Simplify3D addressed both. Prints come out more predictably on the first try, which means less wasted filament and less time babysitting reruns. The process system also lets me optimize prints I would have previously just accepted as "good enough", I can push quality on detailed sections without slowing down the whole job. Net result: I spend more time printing and less time troubleshooting.

  ### 5. Outdated Software, Support not as dedicated as they claim. 5 Days in & still waiting for my refund

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

None, so far the experience has been bad, even contacting support is meh from the start.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

Very deceptive from the start, the website says my printers are supported but they weren't available on the choices of printers to use, so I have to manually set up each printer profile from scratch to be able to use it, contacted support and it took a day before they got back to me. I availed for a refund since my printer wasn't really available and it took over 24 hours to get support on how to set it up. No dedicated support like they claimed and $149 to manually set up your printer is just too much. You are better off using Cura or Prusaslicer which are free and support more printers. They said I will be refunded in 2days, it has been 5 days and still have not received the $149 refund, even though they already deactivated my account, confirmed with my bank and no pending refund from them.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had 3 printers and the website said my printers were supported. so $149 sounded like a good deal if it works, but it didn't.

  ### 6. Great performance but software development lack of updates, compatibility and ui

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

performance, energy efficiency, intuitive, professional.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

UI is inconvenient, outdated. espsecially with MacOS.
A lot of features missing compared to cura.
in general, simplify needs a leap forward, something innovative. connection to web server, raspberry pi / octoprint implementation.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Quick, efficient and coneveniet but with a lack of features and UI intuitivity.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

complex models, engineering prototypes.
performance and energy efficiency during calculation and code output is really good and results are clean.

  ### 7. 2 summers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blake M. | Aerospace Education Officer assistant (AEX), Aviation & Aerospace, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

I like how settings per layer can be edited. And the multiple processes.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

Cura has several capabilities that simplify does not.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Spend time experimenting with all the settings. It is a powerful software.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has allowed me to retain a higher quality of print both aesthetically and mechanically.

  ### 8. Best 3D Slicing Software 5 Years Running!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grant F. | Founder/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

This software isn’t just fast, it’s crazy fast, it’s ridiculous just how fast it is even on low grade computers. Not only that but it packs a boatload of features and every time I look there’s always something new. You can adjust speed at different parts of the same print, edit individual support structures, fix models in-house, and so much more that I haven’t even had full experience with in 5 years of use.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

Literally nothing, I can’t come up with a single issue with it. If I had one thing to say that they could improve on, it would be wifi print compatibility with either OctoPrint or AstroPrint or preferably both.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

It’s worth the cost, just make sure you keep an eye on how many computers are using the license. Be sure to take full advantage of the printer support on their website, it is honestly the best place for diagnosing 3d print issues in the entire internet.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can slice a large high quality print in 5 seconds where the average slicer and even major slicers like the one that rhymes with SnakerDot can take several minutes. I can also control individual support structures as well as fine tuning I simply can’t do on any other software

  ### 9. Fast, Simple and Efficient

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sophia N. | Vector Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

The software's role is assistance editing and that the support structure creation algorithm. Creation is high-speed, and application paths preview is accurate. The capability to publish components is a substantial edge over the competition.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

I want to be able to publish two components. When it's this capacity, it's confusing to use (I thought I read somewhere that this purpose had been available). The document title is cut off once you proceed to choose which to publish. Should you use an SD card to move information to the printer. This makes it tough to return in history and write a document which has a similar title.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

The cost tag is somewhat steep, but Simplify3D is the one if you want an easy-to-use item of software that provides you much control over your preferences, in addition to cutting edge quality.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the applications to enhance high quality and the finish of QA test fittings which are in the prototype phase. The ability to fine-tune the procedure employing the controls in the program enables me to print fittings which are near the target measurements. Do not provide the performance that Simplify 3D provides. You will need other applications. The simple fact that Simplify 3D was harmonious with my Maker Gear I use on the job, made it a choice.

  ### 10. Packed with features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham A. | Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

Custom supports, variable firmware wizard and elaborate print settings make it an awesome choice. Exporting FFF settings is a very handy choice.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

The scripts don't work the way it should. Placing surface on bed requires to select everytime for every part

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Great product for professional working environment.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make a lot of prints with S3D. Vast choices and part orientation and the overall UI is very seemless for working in an industrial platform.

  ### 11. Printing flex and many other

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike S. | 3D Printing Engineer | Intellectual Property Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

I like that I can set all the parameters as I prefer, I have access and can control the whole process.
Another strong point is that I can use simplify3d with many different printers. When I try to use it with TPE and TPU I have all the control to calibrate the print

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

sometimes the slice time is disproportionate to the size of the file. I have a problem with the proxy settings, I have set the correct settings but sometimes I can't open the software. Another problem I faced is the cancel button when it starts to slice, sometimes it didn't respond and should close the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

It's a very useful tool and you can count on this, very stable, good community and of course nice prints.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

printing flex materials and support difficult small parts

  ### 12. The best software for generating code for 3D printers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yaniv G. | Freelancer Designer for 3D Printing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

The excellent combination between fast slicing and the ability to create different processes allows advanced print models to be produced even in places where other software failed.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

It takes time to learn exactly what goes on there, the software is paid and in my opinion, it is quite high, most of the softwareד in the market are free. Software updates are rarely done compared to other software that gets updated fairly quickly.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had challenging models that I had to print with glass, it requires precision in every parameter, I created with the software interesting patterns that are very difficult to create otherwise.

  ### 13. 3 years of work in Simplify3D

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jakub B. | Mechanical Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

Most powerful function of this sofware is support structure generation algorithm and manual support editing. G-code generation is very fast and toolpaths preview are very precise. The ability to print several elements at the same time with different parameters is a big advantage over competition.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

The program has too few settings for printing supports in soluble materials, updates are released to rarely and customer support should work better.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

It's a perfect choice if you are looking for fast and reliable slicing software. Works perfect with a single-head printers but requires some improvements of print settings in soluble materials.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we started using Simplify3D, the quality of the parts printed by us and our clients has increased significantly.

  ### 14. The only software you will need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew K. | Quality Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

Using Simplify3D is simple and relatively intuitive. I like that I am able to adjust almost every aspect of the process with the provided controls. There is a very helpful troubleshooting guide on the website that will give you guidance on what adjustments to make.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

I would prefer to have the ability to print two completely different parts using two different printing processes. If it has this ability, it is confusing to use (I thought I read somewhere that this function was available). If you use an SD card to transfer data to the printer, the file name is cut off when you go to select which one to print. This makes it difficult to go back in history and print a file that has a similar name to another file on the card.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

There is no reason not to get this software given the low price and functionality.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the software to improve the finish and quality of QA test fixtures that are in the prototype stage. The ability to fine tune the process using the additional controls in the software allows me to print fixtures that are very close to the target dimensions. Most software that come with a 3D printer do not offer the functionality that Simplify 3D provides. You will generally require additional software with a new machine purchase. The fact that Simplify 3D was compatible with my Maker Gear that I use at work, made it an easy busy decision.

  ### 15. Once an amazing piece of software, but now lacking many updates.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor F. | IIoT Engineering Lead/Full Stack Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

S3D is pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it. I chose it initially for ease of changing multiple layers and layer heights throughout a print to speed it up.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

I dislike the lack of updates and the fact that many free and open source slicers have caught up and surpassed it in terms of capabilities. I still use S3D out of familiarity though.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Get it if they update it.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really needs some new features and supports, more custom infill patterns, some live views, maybe a sort of printer timeline to be able to insert pauses and things if you need to insert something like a nut into a print.

  ### 16. Simple, Fluid, Fast.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

It renders models crazy fast. The clean and intuitive UI ensures that the files are processed accurately and relatively fast. The printer sounds and you can just feel a whole level of difference when using simplify. The loading time and the new features that are added constantly help a lot. I mainly use it for lithophanes and the quality I get from the Pre-loaded profiles is best. The multi-process feature is a boon. Saves a lot of time and material while outputting best results.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

The cost is a little steep. Every time a new version releases I have to shell out some extra bucks.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Try it once and compare with others before purchasing it. If you can afford it just go for it. I have been using it quite frequently and it's been of a lot of help.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I churn out a quite of lithophanes and my experience has been amazing. The overall output and quality it delivers are incomparable. I really like the interface and the speed with which everything is processed. I can go from an stl to a g-code in less than 5 min. I really enjoy the workflow of things. In terms of comparison with other slicers, I also find the ease of use beneficial.

  ### 17. Great slicing software for 3D prints

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

At my school, we use Simplify3D to slice from stl files to gcodes. Simplify3D has been great for this purpose and I've used it with several different 3D printers with different settings. It allows you to customize support structures and rotate or resize designs easily.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

It took me a bit to learn how it worked - more tutorial videos would be helpful. Somewhat expensive but it was a one-time cost so it definitely has paid for itself over the years.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

3D printing all kinds of stuff! Has made 3D printing accessible to students at my school.

  ### 18. Efficient and user-friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

Clean and simple interface. Easy to use. Functions allow users to manipulate STL files to a certain point in order to 3D print them the way the user needs it to.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

There are some 3D printers that the software does not support yet.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Worth the price of the perpetual license especially if you have multiple 3D printers. Allows you to better understand 3D printing and how the settings you put in can affect the quality and your desired output of the 3D print.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to easily move STL files on the interface and have them 3D printed and connected as one. I am able to see how each layer is going to print. I am able to better estimate how much time will be needed and how much filament will be needed. I also like the support generating functions. I am able to generate the supports I need and because of the flexibility if the support function, I am able to easily remove supports easily.

  ### 19. Excellent software, makes 3D printing a breeze

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin E. | Java Developer, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

I like the number of print settings available to tweak for best results. I also like the quality of the sliced print as it, for some reason unknown to me, seems to always be better than alternatives like Cura.

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

I dislike the lack of tree supports or automatic layer heights. It would be nice to at least have layer heights generated automatically based on the curvature and detail of the various parts of a 3D model to save on plastic while retaining quality.

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

The price tag's a bit steep but if you need an easy-to-use piece of software that gives you plenty of control over your settings, as well as great slicing quality, Simplify3D is the one to go with.

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplify3D has worked well to allow me to 3D print high quality objects for sale or personal use. It's given me a simple-to-use environment to grow my business avenues and solve many problems.

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Simplify3D?**

The amount of customization and one program for all of my different 3D-printers

**What do you dislike about Simplify3D?**

Better profile support and SLA support (Formlabs: Form1/2). Sometimes looses connection too a USB 3D-printer or gets stuck in "printing mode" once teh print has been canceled. (Flashforge: Finder)

**Recommendations to others considering Simplify3D:**

Integration with Solidworks and have a web manager. As an example: We have a room at work with a dozen 3D-printers, thsi room is far away from anybody because of the noise. We have one computer hooked up to these printers and use S3D to slice and manage the printers. It would be very convenient if we could just export the file directly from Solidworks to the S3D computer (Over local internet) and just have it print it automatically on an available computer

**What problems is Simplify3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Can print more complex prototypes with much higher success rate

  ### 27. Extremely positive but not perfect
