Synopsys Simpleware software is a complete 3D image processing (MRI, CT, micro-CT...) platform for visualization, segmentation, model generation, and more. Developed by the Simpleware Product Group at Synopsys, we provide software solutions and consultancy to get the most out of 3D image data, including AI-based Machine Learning capabilities. Customers use our software for everything from patient-specific medical device design and diagnostic 3D printing to non-destructive inspection of engine parts, with CE-marking, ISO 13485:2016 and FDA 510(k) clearances in place for clinical users. Simpleware users benefit from an easy-to-use software interface and a range of add-ons for more specialized tasks, as well as comprehensive automation tools and access to expert technical support.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

The most likely feature of Simpleware is its GUI and user-friendly tools options and Teaching bundle, also we can easily import various files like CT, MIcroCT, FIBSEM, 3DEBSD, Dicom 3d &4D.
It is beneficial in Characterizing Porous Media using watershed and otsu segmentation tools.
A great tool to determine part viability or life span without CAD idealization, 3D visualization of microCT images with access to multiple presets.
Last but not least, it's Meshing into required export formats, like CAD, FE & CFD Etc.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

The least likely feature of Simpleware is its hanging issue while operating over large files, i.e., above 2GB, 4D Dicom and Mesh files in the rock physics module.
Circular cropping is tricky once the 3D model is generated; we can not create the implant geometry without using a solid work module.
Its pricing is quite high compared to other tools.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Simpleware for materials segmentation, Visualization, and Analysis of pores and particles for internal research to make better materials for Tyres and also the scanned sample of tires analysis and visualization to make advancements in the tire industry in this segment; we found Simpleware very useful to bring Images to 3D model. We are getting benefits from Simpleware and other rock physics tools.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

It is very user-friendly software with a compact GUI and chronological arranged Tools starting from image import, analysis, segmentation, design, results reports and export.
We can use wall thickness and deviation tools for part analysis and comparison.
Its twin model generation tool is beneficial for capturing internal geometries and defects.
Also, we can import synthetic data and do Image-space lofting using Simpleware.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

The least likely feature of Simpleware is that it gets leggy while handling large data files.
The average thickness of material calculation and Calculation of Visualizing Local Statistics are complicated.
Vorticity-related variables computation and Vortex core line identification is not possible.
Limited cropping tools are available.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Simpleware to identify and measure pores and particle volume surface area and conduct flow analysis.
Also, use this to calculate the tenacity and wall thickness of materials, and for this purpose, we don't think any other tool can do better than Simpleware.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

The most likely feature of Simpleware software is the Segmentation approach and tools available in the ribbon-like watershed, Multilevel otsu, and particle separation.
Global and local coordination approach is beneficial for Data visualization and adjustment.
We can easily import Dicom, FIBSEM, MicroCT images, IGES and step files and link Solidworks with  Simpleware to have better Implant and Part design.
The FE homogenization approach is beneficial for pore analysis and segmentation.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

We can not work with large data size without cropping it, and It doesn't have inbuilt 3D CAD part design options; temperature calculations are not possible, and FE Homogenisation of particles is complex; Laplace calculation in the flow module requires modification in terms of equations, Some more presets need to be added in 3D Visualization window.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use simpleware to analyze the scanned material samples for research and quality improvement. We are importing various files into the software for 3D Model generation, segmentation and data orientation checks. Hence the simpleware is the best tool for all these requirements.

Usage of AI and resultant in Precise 3D Image analysis in terms of statistics and measurements of 3D image.

Pricing, Heavy Software, Execution time is very high in some cases like auto segment tool

Make sure your machine has good support of hardware and has gone through the toolkit.

Used in medical image data segmentation. It helps doctors/hospital/academic  institutions to continue their research on pre-surgical cases.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

Simpleware is an easy-to-use and very powerful tool. I have created a few scripts which help reduce the overall processing time even more. Simpleware has in-built tools to generate pore network reports and particle analysis reports which gives very good information about the bore same we get. It also eventually helps in reservoir study. Our group has validated the results from Simpleware to the experimental results only to find them very accurate.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

It requires high-spec hardware to run smoothly with large micro-CT datasets without cropping. As our lab has on such hardware, it's access is not always possible hence we have to wait for doing analysis.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our group is studying various rock bore samples which gives us good idea about the reservoir properties or the rock properties. Using Simpleware has really decreased our overall processing time.

It accurately provides the measurements and statistics of the 3D image with the use of AI.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

Expensive software for any business. I think pricing can be reduced.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Life sciences or manufacturing industry, this tool works well for many applications in these sectors. Meshing and segmentation of the 3D images are well processed with this tool.

I like all the features of this tool, especially the way it analyses the 3D images with ease and their processing.

Bulky software to use. The pricing of this is on the higher side.

Segmenting different 3D images and generating their models for further processing. It takes less time to perform these operations.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

According to me the best thing about Synopsys Simpleware software is its GUI and tutorials, anyone can learn it very fast.
Multilevel otsu segmentation tool is very easy to use you just need to provide no. of mask and your segmented model will be ready within just a few clicks.
its presets customization tool and fast preview tool for volume rendering are very advanced. 
We can also export segmented data greyscale values in an excel sheet.
Another best part is its Add-on modules features. It helps in keeping the overall price low according to our requirements.
The shape-fitting tool helps a lot if you are working on a surface model. It supports various export file formats according to our requirements like .iges, .stp, .inp, .sip .vtk it's a very good software.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

The least likely part is that we can not design implants without the help of Solidworks software.
We can not design support structures for 3D printing model export, but we can provide an internal network.
Auto segmentation for Hip/Knee/ Heart CT is very costly, and it takes 4-7 minutes while using the auto segment tool.
I don't have the options to perform Simulation in this, but few basic simulations we can achieve for digital Rock physics and materials.
Pricing is a little bit high.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Synopsys Simpleware software for 3D reconstruction, medical and materials image data segmentation, analysis and 3D printing services, we provide patients, specific 3D printed models to hospital surgeons and researchers for the pre-surgical procedure.  And we also provide services related to FE/CFD model configuration setup for export to specific simulation software according to customer requirements. In this, we are using Simpleware for earning revenue. 
It is helping us in saving our time for complex segmentation and delivering fast services.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

Simpleware has some very advanced tools which work really great, like split regions, CT artefact correction and their FE models are almost always error-free. I also use this tool to correct errors created from Ansys meshing.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

It sometimes lags when working with extensive data like 2 - 3 GBs. I also struggle to use the scripting tool when I have to make some customizations; it has its own class library, which has to be referred to. Other than these I find this tools good.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Simpleware for doing 3D materials modeling. I get data for various rock samples in TIFF format, for which we need to analyze cracks, pores, strength, etc. The tools like multilevel otsu give a good basic segmentation from where manual intervention is required. I also create FE or CFD models as per requirement and export them to a solver. The really great this is the configuration that I can do to a volume mesh model, I can define the properties based on background greyscale values, which improve the accuracy of the results. Their support team is also very knowledgable and are actual developers of the tool.

Simulation and design of 3D images became very easy with this tool. Detailed analysis of images is also available.

Since it is a 3D image processing tool so it is quite expensive.

Transforming images into models, Segmentation using AI is quite useful as it reduces the time of processing.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

The best part about Simpleware software is its GUI and Tool ribbon because most of the tools are arranged in chronological order.
Segmentation tools like Watershed, Ungroup mask, multilevel otsu, pre-segmenter are very helpful and easy to use for segmenting microCT data.
We can easily find out the various material properties like volume, surface area, mass density, sphericity, flatness distribution, particle size with throat radius, frequency distribution.
We can easily convert logs into Python scripts for making the process automatic. we can build our own template library.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

We can not do simulation it this but numerical-homogenisation we can do.It doesn't have an implant library for dental and orthopedic applications. we can not do texture-based segmentation of organs.
Implant design is a major issue, it is best for segmentation but for Cranio implant design we have to use Solidworks for incorporating implant design.
We have to decrease the dataset memory by cropping it and the 3D editing tool will not work if we are working on a large-size dataset.
pricing is also high.

**What problems is Simpleware solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Simpleware for creating 3D Model from the Image dataset, and we solve problems related to 3D printing models, Image segmentation, analysis and help customers in their workflow of medical image processing, Patient-specific implant design, creating FE/CFD mesh model, and how to configure software licensing for a node-locked and floating license.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

It has a great interface, and is easy to learn. The tools are well placed and I can add frequently used tools to MyTools tab for quick access earlier.
As for application, I mostly do hard tissue segmentation, so that is very easy to do using the threshold tool. Soft tissues can also be segmented easily using various tools like region growing, interpolation and 3D wrap.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

For designing PSI, I have to use another CAD tool, but Simpleware should also have an inbuilt tool for designing, like other tools in the market. Using other CAD software makes the workflow inefficient.

**Recommendations to others considering Simpleware:**

If you are looking to do segmentation, 3D model generation work mainly and 3D printing, Simpleware can be a good option. It is also useful for generating volume meshes for simulations and NURBS patches.
But if you want to do PSI design, Simpleware may not be very efficient in my opinion.

Segmentation of fractured bones and sometimes soft tissues and export as .stl or .iges for 3D printing purposes.

**What do you like best about Simpleware?**

Simpleware is a very fast and accurate Image processing and segmentation tool that has very advance segmentation tools available in it. its user-friendly GUI is very interesting and if you are new to this image processing field then you can learn it very fast by following some tutorials and tools function. it also supports the various import file formats and the mesh generation tools are very easy to understand and use. you can utilize this in many fields such as Life sciences, medical devices, Petrophysics, reverse engineering, NDT.

**What do you dislike about Simpleware?**

It does not have any tools for Implant design but you can connect simpleware with Solidworks software for implant design and import/export between Simpleware and solidworks, also you can not perform simulation in this but you can do some analysis by using physics module solid, flow, laplace.  it becomes slower/freeze while working on a large dataset in 3D view. if you didn't decrease the size of the dataset.

With Simpleware software, We do 3D reconstruction, Image processing, Segmentation, and analysis of medical and Rock/Material datasets for further research works, and works with simpleware customers to help them in meeting their requirements.
