The software can be somewhat challenging to learn, and it may take a while to get the hang of it. However, once you do, it's definitely worthwhile. I have also noticed that when working on more complex designs, the geometry tools can seem a little too basic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Simcenter STAR-CCM+?

The best part about STAR-CCM+ is its automation and workflow integration. The ability to link simulation steps with Java macros and the pipeline-based approach significantly improves efficiency. The meshing tools are excellent, offering polyhedral and trimmed cell options, which provide a good balance between accuracy and computational cost. The user interface is also quite intuitive once you're familiar with it, and the documentation and support are reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simcenter STAR-CCM+?

While the tool is powerful, the initial learning curve can be steep for beginners, especially those coming from other CFD platforms. Also, it is quite resource-intensive, requiring high-performance computing hardware for larger simulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Simcenter STAR-CCM+ solving and how is that benefiting you?

STAR-CCM+ is helping me simulate and analyze complex fluid flow and thermal problems in internal combustion engine components. These are multiphase and often transient problems that are difficult to solve analytically or through physical testing alone.

The biggest benefit is that I can virtually prototype and optimize component designs before manufacturing, which saves both time and cost.
