That has all changed due to my present employer using he Sift solution. I can now easily locate the information I need with a quick search and a couple of clicks. The flexibility of finding someone not knowing exactly how their name is spelled by using what basic information I have is invaluable. As a company with team members spread out across multiple offices and floors, the ability to drill down and see exactly where they sit is very useful. Plus there are pictures, much easier to research and locate a person when you have an idea what they look like. Plus there is an app, so even out of the office, I can locate the necessary information. **What do you dislike about Sift?** Nothing, just a great solution for finding internal contacts. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the hardest parts of my job is identifying the correct person or team to solve my problems. It makes it easy to see where a person is in the org when you've never met them before. The skills and interests section is excellent both in usability and searchability. It's super-fast, even with large enterprises. Probably my favorite aspect is its ability to find the right person even if I've misspelled the name. A close second is the ability for users to upload audio snippets on how to pronounce their names. **What do you dislike about Sift?** Nothing I can think of. Every time I get an introduction to a new individual, or see a name I don't recognize on a meeting invite, I fire up Sift and immediately search for that individual to figure out where they sit in the org. More importantly, that search tells me who I know that's "near" them so I can get a better sense of what they do and how we can work to win-win outcomes. Honestly, I had no idea I needed this tool until I got started using it, and now you can't take it away from me or I'll sit down in the middle of the floor and bawl like a baby. **What do you dislike about Sift?** I wish there was an API for it; there's a number of times I'd like to be able to write a quick little Python or Ruby script that does some deeper queries about the organization, or does some comparisons of "before" and "after" to help figure out reorg changes. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think I said this earlier, but it gives a good "window" into the org around me. Before Sift, we had UltiPro. UltiPro's org chart tool is clunky, tough to use, and outdated. Sift helped bring a modern look and feel to our organization, and felt better aligned with our focus on keeping things simple and modern. Going beyond UltiPro's core functionality, Sift enhanced the directory experience. Now employees can search "Rockclimbing" and "Denver" and see the people they can invite into the mountains on their next weekend trip, or get quick help with Java Script issue they're running into when they're searching through key skills of the members on their team. **What do you dislike about Sift?** Sift is highly function and usable, but sometimes I do wish there way more formatting/customization that could happen in the org charts too but expanding multiple trees or collapsing some to get more appropriate exports of org chart setups. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sift has been a valuable tool for new hires as they onboard at our company. Onboarding as a remote employee has its challenges, but being able to match names and faces to profiles that go beyond a job title has been an important highlight of our new reality of onboarding remotely. I will search in Sift for what kind of experience people have in a certain software, and I can easily reach out to those people, shadow, and set up learning time with them. I’ve done it a lot since we’ve had Sift. Specifically, the name pronunciation feature provides a lot of value for me. I've had people mispronounce my name my whole life, and over the years, I’ve corrected people, I’ve written it down for them, but they often still forget. When people constantly mispronounce your name, you don’t feel like you’re part of something. You don’t feel like you’re part of the team when no one’s saying your name right. Pronouncing someone's name correctly is so important to their identity, especially in the workplace. Now with the feature, people can easily go to my Sift Profile and remind themselves. **What do you dislike about Sift?** There isn't much to dislike! Perhaps, in addition to the audio name pronunciation there can also be a phonetic version for people with hearing impairments or difficulty with sounds. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sift has made it so easy to find people by their skills, knowledge and abilities. I was able to find a dance instructor who mastered a specific dance within the family of companies for a team member resource network event just by a quick search. I look up names of software/business areas/ coding language and am able to find people who can help me with any questions because of it.
