If we look at Shopify Plus from the perspective of a high-level business, automation and checkout control are its two strongest pillars. These are not just features, but they directly contribute to your profit and time savings. Setting up Shopify Plus is also very easy, taking only 5 to 7 minutes. **What do you dislike about Shopify Plus?** Limitations of 'Liquid' for heavy customization **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Shopify Plus to solve the problem of manual and repetitive tasks and crashes during traffic. It saves time and profit through automation and checkout control. ### 2. Our sales and deposits are frequently held for extended periods without clear explanations, creating unnecessary strain on cash flow. The contracts required by Shopify Plus feel predatory, are extremely expensive, provide no benefits, and offer little to no meaningful notice prior to renewal. Equally frustrating is the lack of access to actual decision-makers. There is no transparency, no accountability, and no real avenue for resolving serious concerns. Despite branding itself as a champion of small businesses, Shopify Plus provides little support and operates in ways that feel exploitative and profit-driven rather than partnership-oriented. It takes an enormous amount of time and effort to set up and maintain the platform. Investing hours or days into building a business on Shopify Plus, only to be met with withheld funds, rigid contracts, and minimal support, is deeply discouraging. If Shopify truly intends to support small businesses, significant improvements in transparency, communication, and fairness are necessary. **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shopify Plus has consistently fallen short in supporting our business. Funds are withheld for excessive periods with little transparency, contracts are expensive and feel predatory, and there is a noticeable lack of advocacy for small businesses. The experience feels one-sided and exploitative rather than supportive. ### 3. At the onset, the engineering team was helpful to clone and get us set up on plus but this is to their advantage as I didn’t realise that once you upgrade, you can’t downgrade with the same assistance. You’re locked in as we have been for four years. **What do you dislike about Shopify Plus?** The price is not warranted. They don’t specialise in enterprise and the price hike is not warranted at all. Stick to regular plans which are good value or if you’re enterprise level, seek an enterprise platform. Shopify plus has very few customers (for a reason) and you will feel that this is not their focus. Don’t be fooled by the rate improvements in traction’s. It’s opaque and you won’t recognise a financial difference or be able to pull reports to verify (by design). **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cloning stores for international. We could have figured out a more cost effective and effective solution in retrospect. ### 4. Shopify changes its features, but repeated fails to support its existing customers - leaving them stranded with broken software and a lot of work for the custom to repair Shopify's mistakes. **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shopify covers the basic needs of an online store to create a online store and collect payments. ### 5. Not a wise choice **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Tom C. | Senior Fullstack Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024 **What do you like best about Shopify Plus?** It provides extra limit for api calls, and dedecated account manager for resolving problems. **What do you dislike about Shopify Plus?** Shopify often change things without downward compatibility. That' make some features we develop do not work, and sometimes there are NO alternative. For example, they are going to disable checkout.liquid and replace it checkout extension, which turns out limit the flexibility and make some of our function don't work any more (and no alternative as well, even if we are willing to develop any new apps). Checkout.liquid was a feature behind the Shopify plus pay wall. So disabling without another full-compatiable solution is just ignoring. I dont recommend Shopify and Shopify Plus to any sane business which aims at long-term stability and growth **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some function is just beind Shopify Plus pay wall. ### 6. Clearly a reskinned B2C platform and lacks the features that a true B2B business needs. **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tried to use for customers but both us and customers had a negative experience with the platform. ### 7. Getting too big for their boots **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kyle R. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021 **What do you like best about Shopify Plus?** The pace at which they bring new technological advances to the platform, things like privacy compliance, security etc. Which would be a significant burden to businesses if you had to figure those things out. **What do you dislike about Shopify Plus?** They do not listen to their customers, The stock answer for solving any problem is "there is an app for that". The problem with that approach is your costs go up and your performance goes down. The more apps you add to solve these problems the slower your site gets, negatively impacting your consumer's experience. They continue to push apps knowing it negatively impacts your performance because every app you deploy helps drive their revenue which is on top of the already lofty monthly fees. I'm fairly sure the internal joke in Shopify is that the Plus in Shopify Plus stands for plus another few hundred $$$. **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Good question, Bottom line is a significant number of the benefits derived are now eclipsed by the lack of customer engagement. Businesses do need to focus on maximising profits but to do so at the expense of your customers is a short-sighted strategy. ### 8. Should be called Shopify Minus **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Rich M. | Sales and Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021 **What do you like best about Shopify Plus?** Good Analytics Support is easy to contact **What do you dislike about Shopify Plus?** Support NEVER solves any problems You must have 3rd party apps to make anything function Scripts / Flow is a Beta and not fully functional Shopify Payments and Expansion stores were promised and not approved URL's are still not customizable **Recommendations to others considering Shopify Plus:** The base price of $2,000 is only half of what you will spend - we spend another $1,500 on 3rd party apps along with a large amount to manage state/local taxes. Shopify Plus will claim to save you money on Shopify Payments, but they do not disclose that not everyone will be approved. They do not approve all industries. They also promise expansion stores to create additional stores, but once again, it's part of an approval process. We were also promised a Merchant Success Manager, which never happened. When requesting one, I had to contact Shopify Plus Support to request one contact me which took several days to hear back. My issues are still not resolved. Lastly, Shopify plus support is easy to get ahold of but rarely solves any problems. Get used to hearing, "that's a great suggestion, I'll submit that to our development team." **What problems is Shopify Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** None - We were better off on the previous Shopify platform at $800/month vs $2000/month for Plus ### 9.
