## ShareGate Reviews
  ### 1. Effortless Site Migration, Needs Better Navigation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Randy Z. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I used ShareGate for moving and archiving about 600 SharePoint sites and it made it easy to move the site contents without having to give myself permissions to each one. It really saved me a lot of time because otherwise, I would have had to manually navigate to the desired location and relocate the data by hand. The software just made it really easy to move the site contents with little fuss. Also, the initial setup was fairly straightforward.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I find it difficult because there isn't a search function for the sites, requiring me to scroll through the source and destination locations each time. When I have 750 sites, it's a lot of scrolling. I always wanted the destination to be the same, but I had to scroll and select that each time as well.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ShareGate made it easy to move site contents without needing permissions for each site, saving me a lot of time from manually navigating and relocating data.

  ### 2. Invaluable tool for migration, with some caveats

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam B. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Can save time when migrating from one SharePoint site to another, taking with it permissions and other settings. The audit feature is helpful to prepare for a migration and prevent having to redo it.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The activation/deactivation process of licensing is difficult when you're on a secure setup and need to do it offline. Especially when something wrong happens during the process and you get stuck with an app you can't use because the licensing process broke. Support could not help me and just closed my case without resolution. Still in the process of fixing it.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Discovering what needs to be migrated, what issues need to be resolved before migration, useful reports. Saves a lot of manual work and time.

**Official Response from Eva Bloudoff:**

> Thank you for the honest feedback, Sam. Your organization has made specific security requests to disable some connected features, and we're sorry that this has created some frustration. We would love to collaborate on how to handle this in high-security environments, and a member of our team will reach out shortly.

  ### 3. Rich Functionality, Minor Authentication Annoyance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laurie A. | Infrastructure Support Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I used ShareGate to complete a company-wide migration of on-premises SMB file shares into SharePoint Online. I appreciate its rich functionality, which allowed me to split a large, monolithic site into smaller sites. The initial setup was very easy, and it moves large amounts of data between sites reliably while maintaining version history and metadata and providing reporting.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I kept having to reauthenticate. It would be much better if it stopped requiring the need to reauthenticate.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used ShareGate to migrate SMB file shares to SharePoint and to split a large site into smaller ones, handling data moves while maintaining version history and metadata.

**Official Response from Brittany Freitas:**

> Thanks for the kind words on functionality and fair feedback on the authentication friction. Good news: we recently released the Connection Manager, which saves your SharePoint and Microsoft 365 connections automatically so you don't have to re-enter them each time. You'll find it under Settings → Connections in ShareGate Migrate. You can click on the link below for a quick walkthrough.

  ### 4. A Versatile Solution with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonas B. | Service Owner Microsoft 365, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like the versatility of ShareGate. It's like a Swiss army knife and good for a lot of things, especially in migration and reporting. I also value the custom reporting feature. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I don't like that multi-site migration and OneDrive bulk jobs can't run serialized using the GUI. Setting up batch-jobs that work with a multi-server load balancing system would be better, instead of having isolated servers that don't communicate. They also seem to have lost momentum by focusing on Exchange and Entra migration rather than making SharePoint migration best in class. And not including Apricot in the 5-user license package is a no-go.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for migration and reporting. It's versatile, like a Swiss Army knife, and its custom reporting is valuable.

  ### 5. Easy Data Management Across SharePoint and OneDrive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy D. | SharePoint Business Systems Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ShareGate gives us the ability to manage and move data from SharePoint sites and OneDrive accounts. This helped a lot during the OneDrive cleanup that was needed due to changes made by Microsoft this year. Permissions reports on SharePoint sites helps keep management informed.

Secure and simple to integrate with our tenant. Updates to the server-based tool are regular and do not disrupt use of the system.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Teams management tools that we used to rely on were removed several months ago and have not (yet?) been replaced

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows management of orphaned OneDrive content when employees have left the company. A major OneDrive cleanup project earlier this year was done much more quickly and efficiently using ShareGate. It's used to copy and relocate SharePoint content from our on-premise farm to the online tenant, and to generate detailed permissions reports periodically for stakeholders. In the past, the online ShareGate tool was used to manage externally shared content and orphaned Teams.

  ### 6. Reliable Migration Tool for SharePoint, Teams, and Email

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lexie T. | Corporate app specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Migration for sure, I use it for Sharepoint/Teams sites and also email migration

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

In Onedrive migration I kinda remember it's not able to select mutiple users migration together, it only allow once a time

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharepoint Teams site migration and Email migration in different tenant.

  ### 7. Simple, Easy, and Straightforward to Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca H. | Sr Expert Technology Infrastructure, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

It is simple, easy, and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Migrating SharePoint and OneDrive sites has a poor interface, only allowing bulk migration via command line. This is much easier with competitors.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far, the theme migration has been good simple and straightforward and the Google integration is very easy and works well.

  ### 8. Simple, Intuitive GUI That Makes Microsoft Migrations Easier

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Simple and intuitive

Much easier to use than native Microsoft migration tools.
GUI-driven approach reduces the need for complex PowerShell scripting.
Suitable for both experienced architects and operational IT teams.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

an be expensive for smaller organizations or one-off migration projects.
Licensing may be difficult to justify if migration requirements are infrequent.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our case it was a great help with tenant to tenant migration.

  ### 9. Great, easy to use versatile tool.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandor M. | Sharepoint Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Great support to migrate Google Workspaces. We have a lot of them.
Also love sensitivity label retention.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Some of the error definitions are still not quite clear however this has been improved recently.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find it the best SharePoint migration so far available on the market.

  ### 10. Easy, User-Friendly Tool for Up to Five Machines

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

It easy to use very user friendly and can be use in about 5 machines.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Even though its new I wish there were more features.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me with copying over mail boxes from tenant to another.

  ### 11. Efficiency Boost with Few Hiccups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam B.

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like ShareGate for its interface and ease of use. It really makes my SharePoint migrations and site reports simpler. I also appreciate the feature that allows scheduling migrations to run when convenient. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy for me.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The speed of migrations can be long, and if a migration crashes or errors halfway through, it would be good to be able to kick off from where it stopped rather than start the whole thing over again. Large migrations can take more than 24 hours which can interfere with business functions during the day, so it would be good to have a pause option on migrations so they are done only out of hours.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for large SharePoint migrations, keeping metadata and permissions intact, cleaning up orphaned users, and generating user-friendly permission reports for audits.

  ### 12. Intuitive Interface and Effortless Usability

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Good GUI and easy to use. It doesn't take a lot of skills and effort to get ShareGate working. You can do a lot and save a lot of time with it.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

some options are hidden in menu's and connection issues are not always easy to solve.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy copy of SharePoint data. Fileshare imports, O365 management. We use all functions.

  ### 13. Effortless SharePoint Migrations with Robust Community Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raheem K.

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

I like ShareGate's easy UI; it really makes our migration and support processes easy and fast. I also appreciate that it has a very large community in the world, which means a problem can be solved quickly by simply asking. The initial setup was very easy and straightforward, with enough documentation provided to help us out.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I don’t like the migration speed in general, and I'm concerned about warnings on getting throttling. I think there could be better and easier logs, and I'd like to see the ability to export from tasks to another machine.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ShareGate for migrating data from local network drives and SharePoint Online to another SharePoint site. It's the only tool that can do that easily, with its easy UI and large community support making migration fast and easy.

  ### 14. Uncomplicated Partner Management with Great Products

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

  ### 16. EXPERIENCE

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Facilities Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

ATTENTION: RESPONSE TIMES ARE VERY LONG ON YOUR CHANNELS IN MEXICO

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

The support available from wholesalers in Mexico makes it difficult to place a purchase order or receive a quote.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The licensing is handled by our end customer in Mexico

  ### 17. Easy to Use with a Great Interface—Protection Keeps Improving

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Migrations from local shared to the cloud.

  ### 18. Needed to migrate one SharePoint content to another

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergei D. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

The easy of use, was simply pointing one content from the old SharePoint to the new SharePoint. Simply had to install the application, login and point the URL's.

It was very easy to use and there was a large number of documented features.

Implementation was simple - Install and go.

We only had to use it for the one client so frequency of use was only for the one customer.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Cost of the license was high and for irregular use makes it hard to subscribe to it.

Pay as you go might've been more enticing as we don't get a large number of use cases where ShareGate is needed.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The speed in which the task was completed. TO complete a manual migration would've taken a large number of hours and brain power - with ShareGate it was a pre clicks of a button.

  ### 19. Effortless Migrations with an Intuitive, User-Friendly UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

How easy and clear the UI is. Very easy to use and shows all details for different migration needs. Super easy to start using as well.

I can't think of anything. All the times I've used it, it's worked as needed.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Migrating info from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online. As well as migrating planners.

  ### 20. Sharegate's Migration Feature Shines

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Sharegate Migration feature
And in the past Sharegate used to have that Inactive team site management

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

I prefer the browser version, but it seems that ShareGate recently limited it to ShareGate Governance only

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large amount of files migration.

  ### 21. Great Migration Tool, but User Management is untrustworthy.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2024

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

We migrated from on-prem servers to SharePoit and OneDrive, for over 800 sources, to 14000 desinations. Sharegate handled it all very well. We did have some issues with throttling, and visiblity into that throttling took some understanding. Support was kind of there to assist us with questions.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Support! There is a poor model of support. Email only, introduces significant delays. National holidays always fall at the wrong times, so the US customers get more delays. I have been working a current issue with User cleanup for 3 months with support, and we are not close to a solution. Not the greatest support to help with technical issues with the product.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large file moves from on prem to the cloud. Saving many hours of work.

  ### 22. Migration and overview platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

the migration options from cloud to cloud but also the easy-to-use file server to cloud migration updates.

the Sharegate dashboard can also give incredible easy insight in the amounf of teams enviroments based on purposes.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

the teams templates doesnt include user groups

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No overview on teams enviroments per unit or company.

  ### 23. Sharegate my partner in admin

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

migration tool
easy teams management
fast customer support

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

sometimes, like any tool, it gives an error.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy migration
easy teams management - (we are on 1 tenant with multiple companies) so tags are a quickwin for us

  ### 24. Great tool, just wish it had a little more!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Very user-friendly and capable. Makes managing SharePoint and Teams in our tenant so much easier.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

It doesn't detect Planner or PowerPlatform activity for M365 groups I'm not a member of. This means I have to be careful when deleting inactive groups, as they might be actively used with Planner or PowerPlatform.

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Migrating content both from on-prem storage and classic SharePoint sites into modern SharePoint allows us to make better use of SharePoint. Also, managing our Teams and other M365 Groups is so much easier when I can see orphaned and inactive (based on how we define inactive) groups, see some important info, and even take action all from one place.

  ### 25. My experience with ShareGate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2023

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Facilitate bulk changes in SharePoint for permissions, content types or others

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Not having the possibility to extract inventory of items

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Get the big picture on sites such as permission matrix, reporting and migration. We also use the tool to copy existing libraries instead of doing it manually.

  ### 26. Like Functionality, no fan of the UI

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

- Insane Mode
- I can migrate SP 2010 + SP 2013 Workflows without breaking them
- Errors and warnings list
- Effective Permissions Report (Matrix)
- The PowerShell Module

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

- In "Copy Content" mode, I cannot select multiple Items, while I can do this by selecting multiple lists + deactivating anything but list content in "Copy Structure and Content" mode. This is sort of annoying.
- Checkmark in the upper right corner. Please work more closely with MS UI best practices.
- Documentation of user mapping file
- I cannot make User Mapping work using the UI
- Online-Only Documentation / apparently no proxy settings for this. I always need to copy Help-URLs to another computer to get help. This is hampering my learning curve significantly.
- URLs are not resolved in "Explore" mode unless I store them from a "Copy" action. Does not make sense to me. It should be the other way around.--> Step 1) Explore - Step 2) Copy

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can manage the Migration of our huge Site (1564 Site collections to move).

  ### 27. Overall experience has been good.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2022

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

The emails. Not too much and not too little. I like the amount of times you contact me its informative but not overbearing. I feel that I have good options when it comes to obtaining more information.

**What do you dislike about ShareGate?**

Our company has designated hours that we can use due to the bandwith it uses when migrating a site. If the software moved faster and we could utilize it during business hours it would be extremely helpful

**What problems is ShareGate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A big issue is metadata. Sharegate keeps it the same in regards to last modified date etc. I also like that it can move permissions and that it makes a "copy" it makes less nervous when moving a site knowing the original is still in tact

  ### 28. ShareGate - A Great Solution for SharePoint Online Migrations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael John L. | Sr IT Sys Mgmt Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about ShareGate?**

Insane Migration is really fast. I think they are best tool when migrating to SharePoint Online because of the speed.

I believe ShareGate Desktop is the best solution out there when migrating on-premises SharePoint sites to Teams or SharePoint Online.

Easy to use for migration. Used it for migration from one site to another site and from SharePoint 2010 to 2016.
