"Comprehensive SPM Support That Works Well for IT Teams"
5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

It supports all the aspects around SPM, many departments of our company find this product as a good quality product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

While the solution is working well for IT teams, we find difficulties when onboarding users from business functions (GBS, HR, M&S etc.) - they have specific requirements about e.g. Project/Demand categorization, custom fields, states - it takes our time to ensure the product works for all the teams as they need. So I would say having more configurable way to support different teams with different requirements would be great for us.

Another thing - Workspaces. There is a Project Workspace - and we promote it! Some teams are using it. Some teams needs also to see on the same Workspace Demands, Resources, Products etc. - so everything around SPM in one place. Not in the different workspaces. "Clear Strategy-to-Execution Alignment with Real-Time Portfolio Visibility"
5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I like most about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is the ability to connect strategy to execution in a clear and measurable way. The platform enables the alignment of business objectives with initiatives, the prioritization of investments based on real value, and complete, real-time visibility into the portfolio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I like least about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is that the initial implementation can be complex and require a significant amount of time and effort—especially when it comes to aligning the tool with the organization's specific processes.

Furthermore, the learning curve can be somewhat steep for new users, particularly for those unfamiliar with portfolio management concepts or the ServiceNow ecosystem itself.

Another point is that certain customizations and more advanced reports may require additional technical knowledge or reliance on specialists, which can increase both costs and delivery times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My experience review"
3/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I like the most about ServiceNow SPM is that it really helps bring everything together in one place. It makes it easier to connect business goals with the actual projects and track progress without having to jump between different tools. I like how clear the portfolio views are — I can quickly see which initiatives are on track and where the risks are. The integration with other ServiceNow modules is also a big plus, because it saves time and reduces the back-and-forth between teams. Overall, it gives me confidence that decisions are based on real data, not just assumptions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The main downside is that it’s not the easiest tool to pick up at the beginning. There’s definitely a learning curve, and sometimes you need someone experienced with ServiceNow to help set things up the right way. Some dashboards feel a bit heavy and can take longer to load when there’s a lot of data. I also think the licensing costs can be high for smaller companies, which might make it harder for them to adopt. But once you get through the setup and training, it does become a very powerful tool. "Streamlined Portfolio Prioritization, Needs User Clarity"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I find the portfolio planning workspace and the resource manager workspace in ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management to be great. The portfolio planning workspace helps provide an overview of current demands and projects, and when combined with the resource manager workspace, it allows stakeholders to quickly understand when tasks can be completed and change priorities based on real-time data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

A lot of hands in the cookie jar can make it a little harder at times. It could be easier to tell when a key stakeholder made a change versus a manager or fulfiller. The initial setup took a while, mostly involving aligning processes to the workflow of ServiceNow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized Portfolio Management with Robust Integrations"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I like most about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is the end-to-end visibility it provides across demands, projects, resources, and financials in a single platform. It makes it much easier to track progress, identify risks early, and make data-driven decisions. I also appreciate how well it integrates with other ServiceNow modules, which helps streamline workflows and reduces manual effort. Another strong point is the flexibility to customize processes, dashboards, and reporting based on business needs while still maintaining governance and standardization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

One area that could be improved in ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is the overall complexity during initial setup and configuration, especially for organizations with mature governance processes or unique portfolio structures. It often requires careful planning and experienced administrators to fully optimize the platform. Reporting and dashboarding are powerful, but building highly customized executive-level reports can sometimes take additional effort compared to more specialized BI tools. Resource management can also become complex in large organizations when handling matrix teams, shifting priorities, and frequent capacity changes. Another improvement area is user adoption, as some users may find certain interfaces or processes overwhelming at first, so a more simplified and intuitive experience for occasional users would be valuable. Enhancements in out-of-the-box best practice templates and faster implementation accelerators would also help organizations realize value more quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Real-Time Portfolio Visibility That Accelerates Delivery and Improves Resource Management"
5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

Strategic Portfolio Management provides real-time visibility into project performance and risk, and it helps accelerate product and project delivery while improving resource management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

SPM can become overly complex to implement and maintain when the underlying processes aren’t clearly defined. Many organizations expect quick value, but SPM typically requires strong governance, solid data quality, and mature portfolio management practices to deliver its full benefits.

For business stakeholders who aren’t daily ServiceNow users, the overall experience can be challenging at times. Navigation and reporting don’t always feel intuitive, and driving adoption may take additional training as well as thoughtful change management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhances Visibility and Governance, But Setup Can Be Complex"
3.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I like how ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management provides end-to-end visibility across all projects and demands in a single platform. The dashboards and reporting features are very powerful, helping stakeholders make quick and informed decisions. I appreciate how it streamlines demand, project, and resource management in one place, reducing manual work and improving efficiency. The integration with other ServiceNow modules enhances data consistency and governance. Overall, it brings better alignment between IT initiatives and business goals while improving transparency and control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

While ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is very powerful, there are a few areas that could be improved. The initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially for organizations without strong ServiceNow expertise. It often requires significant customization to match specific business needs. The user interface for some modules, like resource and demand management, can feel a bit less intuitive for new users, leading to a learning curve. Reporting is powerful, but creating advanced reports or dashboards sometimes requires deeper technical knowledge. Additionally, performance can occasionally be slower when handling large volumes of data or complex portfolios. Enhancing out-of-the-box templates, improving usability, and optimizing performance would make the platform even more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
