What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I appreciate how it helps with resource planning. As a Growth Product Manager, I am constantly fighting for engineering and design time. This tool shows me where people are allocated and where we have gaps. I can spot resource shortages before they become crises. That alone has made my life easier. My conversations with leadership are also more productive because I can show them actual data instead of guessing. The visibility it gives me across all our growth initiatives is probably the biggest win. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The onboarding process was rough. It took us a few months to get everything configured properly. I am not technical so I relied heavily on our internal team and ServiceNow support. Some parts of the platform feel outdated. Sometimes I get lost and waste time just navigating. Performance can also be slow when I am looking at large portfolios. The system takes a while to load all the data and that is frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Makes Portfolio Management Much More Efficient."

What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I like most about ServiceNow SPM is that its dashboard is quite user friendly and its quite easy to adapt to. Its user interface is so simple that even we easily navigate through multiple queries all at once, although sometimes the buttons seem a bit complex, but it gets the job done. Another advantage is the integration, our Excel files and SharePoint work with it without any problems. With its help, my team members can plan more in less time. What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

Well I personally disliked the pricing strategy of this tool, as it comes with a lot of additional charges. We thought that the tool of such a big company would be cheap but its ROI is not as clear as they claim. Guidance was also lacking during onboarding, we had to find a lot on our own which wasted most of our initial time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Strategic-to-Execution Governance and Portfolio Visibility with ServiceNow SPM"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The thing I like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is how effectively it connects strategic planning with day-to-day operational execution across large cross-functional teams.

In our workflows, we used it to manage enterprise initiatives involving fintech product delivery, operational transformation projects, compliance-driven releases, and infrastructure modernization programs. Before implementing the platform, portfolio planning, resource tracking, project execution, and operational reporting were spread across disconnected spreadsheets, project tools, and manual review processes. Leadership visibility into delivery status and dependency risks was often fragmented.

One area where ServiceNow SPM made a major impact was release and initiative governance. During large fintech rollout programs involving engineering, operations, compliance, and product teams, the platform helped centralize portfolio visibility across timelines, dependencies, resource allocation, and execution progress. Leadership teams could finally track how strategic initiatives translated into operational workstreams without relying on manually consolidated reports.

Another strong point was the workflow structure and governance visibility. We were able to standardize intake processes, prioritization workflows, and operational approvals across teams, which reduced a lot of coordination overhead during planning cycles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I disliked about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is that while the platform is extremely powerful for enterprise governance and portfolio visibility, the overall setup and operational complexity can become significant, especially during large-scale implementations.

In our environment, we used the platform to manage fintech delivery programs involving engineering releases, compliance initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and operational transformation projects across multiple teams. The platform handled governance and portfolio visibility very well, but configuring workflows, resource models, reporting structures, and approval hierarchies required much more planning and administrative effort than initially expected.

From a UI/UX perspective, the system is designed for enterprise-scale operational control, but new users often found the interface overwhelming at first. Delivery managers and operational stakeholders adapted over time, but teams accustomed to lighter project management tools initially struggled with navigation, workflow depth, and reporting configuration complexity.

Another challenge was customization governance. The platform is highly flexible, but as more teams requested specialized workflows, dashboards, and portfolio structures, maintaining consistency across the environment became increasingly difficult. Without disciplined governance, operational complexity could grow quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifies Portfolio Management with User-Friendly UI"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I like its roadmap view which allows us to see every lead and resource on a single screen, saving us from planning meetings separately. The Jira integration keeps our dev teams happy and in their normal tools, which helps us get accurate status automatically. The roadmaps help to drag initiatives and see conflicts before committing, saving time. We switched to ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management because its UI is simple to operate, and we can configure scoring and portfolios much easier. The implementation is easier compared to other applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The reporting is limited which leads us to Tableau for getting detailed information about anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All-in-One Portfolio Management with Clear Dashboards and Automation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I like most is having everything in one place. Instead of tracking projects across different tools, we can manage demand, projects, resources, and portfolios within ServiceNow SPM. The dashboards give a clear picture of project status, and the automation has reduced a lot of the manual follow-up our team used to do. Once you get familiar with it, it becomes an important part of day-to-day portfolio management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The biggest challenge for us was the initial setup and learning curve. There are a lot of features, which is great, but it can feel overwhelming for new users. Some configurations also require support from experienced ServiceNow administrators. Better out-of-the-box templates for common use cases would make onboarding easier. "Good platform for managing projects"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

What I liked best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management was its clean interface and the way it keeps project information organized in one place. Even with limited use, I found it easy to navigate and useful for tracking work and getting a quick overview of project progress. It seems well integrated with the ServiceNow platform, which can help teams collaborate more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

Since I only used it for a short time, I found that the platform has a learning curve, and some features were not immediately intuitive. The interface can feel overwhelming at first because there are many options and settings. More guided tutorials or onboarding resources would make it easier for new users to get started. "Powerful Portfolio Management with Real-Time Visibility"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

I like how ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management brings projects, resources, and investments together in one platform. It provides better visibility into project progress, helps prioritize work based on business goals, and offers useful dashboards for tracking performance. The reporting features and workflow automation also make collaboration easier across different teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The platform has a learning curve, especially for new users. Some advanced configuration and reporting options can feel complex without proper training. In large implementations, customization and setup may take time, and performance can occasionally slow down when working with large datasets. More beginner-friendly documentation and simplified navigation would improve the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cleaner Project Workspace and Strong Illustrative Portfolio Dashboards in ServiceNow SPM"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The Project workspace is cleaner and also provide detailed visibility on project status. I mainly used for project scheduling and planning, resource planning and risk mitigation plan, as these involves more complex sub-tasks and needs better visibility, out of applications that I used for project planning service now provides better workspace for these tasks in my experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

Eventhough it provides detailed status on dashboards, sometimes it is bit cluttered while viewing the plan on it's entirety. The AI inetgrations are better but the performance of AI for complex data models are not that much competitive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong Strategy-to-Project Visibility, but Expensive Licensing and Heavy Setup"
3.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

The most helpful thing is its connection strategy for delivery and the way it creates a central source for managing portfolios to support decision-making. It provides a visual roadmap for business value and helps link strategic goals directly to projects. It also offers resource planning and better visibility for managing financial plans, with data-driven supervision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management?

My biggest frustration is that the licensing is very expensive when scaling it to other departments, and the setup also requires significant backend support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
