**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I have been using ServiceNow IT Asset Management as part of my daily work for managing hardware assets and maintaining accurate inventory data across the organization. One of the biggest advantages of the platform is its seamless integration with CMDB, which helps maintain asset lifecycle visibility from procurement to retirement.
The reporting and dashboard capabilities make it easier to track asset compliance, warranty status, and data quality. I also appreciate the flexibility of workflows and automation, which reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
Another strong point is the integration with Discovery and other ServiceNow modules, allowing organizations to maintain reliable asset and configuration data. This has helped our team improve CMDB health and make better decisions based on accurate information.
Overall, ServiceNow IT Asset Management is a robust and scalable solution for organizations looking to centralize asset management and improve governance. While the initial setup and customization can require some planning, the long-term benefits in visibility and process automation make it a valuable platform.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

Implementation can be tough, but once it's done it will be easy to work

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps us solve challenges related to asset visibility, inventory accuracy, and lifecycle tracking. Before using it, managing hardware assets across different teams was largely manual and often led to duplicate or outdated records.
With ServiceNow ITAM, we have a centralized repository for all IT assets, integrated with the CMDB, which improves data accuracy and provides end-to-end visibility from procurement to retirement. The platform also helps us monitor warranties, identify missing or stale asset information, and generate reports for audits and compliance.
The biggest benefit has been reduced manual effort, better governance, and increased confidence in our asset data, enabling IT teams to make faster and more informed decisions.

  ### 2. Efficient and scalable solution for managing IT assets and lifecycle

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dharamveer p. | Application Security Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is how it provides full visibility and control over IT assets across their lifecycle. It helps track hardware and software assets from procurement to disposal, which makes asset management much more organized. The automation features reduce manual work, especially for tracking, auditing, and compliance. I also like how well it integrates with other ServiceNow modules, making it part of a unified IT workflow.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is that the initial setup and configuration can be complex and time consuming. It requires proper planning and sometimes technical expertise to fully utilize its capabilities. The cost can also be a concern for smaller organizations, and customization may take time to implement properly.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management solves the problem of poor asset visibility and manual tracking. It centralizes all asset data, automates lifecycle management, and helps ensure compliance with licensing and policies. For me, it reduces manual effort, improves accuracy in asset tracking, and helps in making better decisions regarding asset usage and cost optimization.

  ### 3. Unified IT Workflow and End-to-End Asset Visibility with ServiceNow ITAM

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil S. | Digital Marketing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The standout feature of ServiceNow IT Asset Management is how smoothly it fits into a unified IT workflow. Because it integrates directly with Incident, Change, and Problem Management, it gives end-to-end visibility into assets from procurement through disposal. That visibility helps replace scattered spreadsheets and cuts down on manual tracking, making it much easier to keep asset information accurate and manageable in one central place.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow ITAM has some major drawbacks, including a high total cost of ownership, a steep learning curve, and a complex initial setup. The platform also relies heavily on the broader ServiceNow ecosystem, which often means you need significant consulting support or ongoing administrative effort to implement it effectively.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management addresses fragmented asset visibility, software licensing compliance risks, and inefficient lifecycle workflows. By centralizing hardware, software, and cloud data on a single platform, it streamlines automated license reconciliation, helps harvest unused SaaS subscriptions, and tracks tech refresh cycles. Overall, it can reduce IT costs while also mitigating the risk of financial penalties.

  ### 4. Centralized Asset Management with a Steep Learning Curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to track and manage IT assets throughout their lifecycle. I like the centralized asset management dashboard, which provides clear visibility into hardware and software assets. The automation, reporting, and lifecycle tracking capabilities save me time, improve accuracy and make asset management more efficient. The centralized asset repository is also very helpful, allowing me to maintain accurate records of hardware and software assets in one place. Automated workflows and reporting features make it easier to monitor assets, identify outdated equipment, and maintain compliance, planning for replacements or upgrades. ServiceNow also helps solve issues related to asset tracking, inventory accuracy, software license compliance, and asset lifecycle management, providing much better visibility into assets and reducing the time and effort required for manual tracking and reporting.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

While this is a powerful platform, the areas I have a little difficulty dealing with are the learning curve, complexity of setup, and ease of customization. As a new user, I was a little overwhelmed at first in creating custom reports or workflows, but with experience it gets easy.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to solve asset tracking, inventory accuracy, and compliance issues. It centralizes asset data, reduces manual work, and provides better visibility, saving time and effort and improving accuracy with automation and reporting.

  ### 5. Single-Platform IT Asset Lifecycle Management with Strong Visibility and Compliance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I like most about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is that it provides a single platform to manage the entire lifecycle of IT assets—from procurement and deployment to maintenance and retirement. It helps organizations maintain accurate asset visibility, optimize software and hardware usage, improve compliance, and reduce unnecessary costs.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I wouldn’t say I dislike IT Asset Management, but one challenge is that maintaining accurate asset data requires disciplined processes. If Discovery, procurement, and manual updates aren’t properly managed, the asset inventory can quickly become outdated. However, with the right integrations and governance, this can be effectively addressed.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my perspective as a ServiceNow
Developer, ITAM benefits me by providing reliable asset information that can be integrated with ITSM processes such as Incident, Change, and Request Management. This enables me to build better automations, workflows, and reports while reducing manual effort and improving overall operational efficiency.

  ### 6. Seamless CMDB-ITAM Integration with Powerful Asset Visibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav M. | Support Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The most impressive technical aspect of ServiceNow ITAM is the seamless integration between the CMDB and the Hardware/Software Asset Management modules. The "single pane of glass" isn't just marketing—having a shared data schema across ITSM and ITAM means that when an incident is logged against a CI, we have immediate visibility into its warranty status, depreciation, and contractual entitlements. The Content Library is also a massive time-saver; it automatically normalizes discovered software data, which significantly reduces the manual effort required for license reconciliation.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The platform's power comes with a high degree of complexity. The implementation phase requires a very mature understanding of your own internal processes; if your data is "garbage" going in, the automation will only speed up the mess. Additionally, the User Interface (UI) for advanced configuration can feel dated compared to the newer "Next Experience" workspaces, and the cost of the Pro/Enterprise tiers can be a barrier for mid-sized operations.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily used ServiceNow ITAM to solve the issue of License Leakage and Audit Exposure. By utilizing the Software Asset Management (SAM) professional module, we were able to identify "shelfware" (unused licenses) and reclaim them, resulting in a 15% reduction in our annual SaaS spend. Furthermore, it has streamlined our hardware lifecycle—from procurement requests in the Service Portal to the automated triggers for asset disposal and data destruction certificates.

  ### 7. Simple and effective Asset tracking

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mukul K. | Senior Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

Service now IT Asset Management keeps everything organized in one place. It becomes very easy to track assets, manage their lifecycle. And avoid confusion. The integration with othe modules is also helpful as it reduces manual work and improves overall efficiency. Interface is also very user friendly, it helps in saving time daily.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One thing I was concerned initially and disliked is ITAM can feel but complex for new users. It takes some basic understanding for customising and setting up process. Also some process feel bit slow or requires multiple steps, which can be improved. Licensing cost is high which concerns smaller teams. Overall it's excellent.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ITAM helps solve the problem of unnoticed, scattered, and untracked assets. Before using ITAM, it was difficult to know where assets were, what their current status was, and who was using them. With ITAM, everything is managed in one place, which is really helpful for control and visibility. One of the main things I like is that it supports better planning, reduces unnecessary purchases, and helps us to stay compliant. It also reduces manual effort, saves time, and makes asset management more reliable and organized overall.

  ### 8. Eliminating Procurement Guesswork: Achieving Complete Visibility and Audit Readiness

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill M. | Strategic Business Advisor , Banking, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow ITAM is the premier enterprise solution for transforming fragmented asset data into a unified, strategic engine. It effectively bridges the gap between raw inventory and business intelligence, allowing organizations to move from reactive firefighting to a proactive, governed operating model. This is not just a tool; it is a strategic journey toward organizational maturity. Many of my clients lack an established governance structure or a formal operating model to oversee their assets, and ServiceNow provides the necessary framework to transition from a manual state to a governed, proactive environment.

Building the Foundation: SAM and HAM Milestones For clients who have already invested in ITSM and ITOM, the move to ITAM offers a massive tactical advantage. Because the CMDB is already in place as a single source of truth, they have the inventory foundation required for an immediate 360 degree view of their environment. This allows for precise mapping of complex licensing, specifically for heavyweights like SAP, Microsoft, and Oracle, against what is actually installed. During the First Days, the focus is on reducing known SaaS spend by utilizing accurate asset data to manage renewals and remove unused subscriptions.

Having the CMDB details in place like the exact quantity of hardware and the software installed inside a server, as well as the number of endpoints and the installed software inside them, is the critical first milestone. As you establish this single source of truth, you gain complete visibility of the IT environment. In the First Weeks, the journey progresses to detecting unknown software spend and optimizing cloud resources. This involves uncovering costs, auto-categorizing redundant software, and consolidating apps to sunset what is unnecessary.

Software Asset Management (SAM) Specifics The platform delivers excellence through the SAM Professional suite. By using the Content Library for automated normalization and the License Workbench, the system provides clear direction that helps you make actionable decisions to either procure, dispose, or reuse licenses. Through the Now Assist chatbot, the system provides out of the box AI driven agents that automate software requests, reclamation rules, and compliance summarization, removing the manual busy work from asset managers. This is supported by the high speed RaptorDB architecture which ensures that even massive global estates are processed with high performance, while native APIs seamlessly bridge the gap between procurement and discovery.

Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Specifics On the hardware side, the dedicated Asset Workspaces provide a centralized, intuitive UI/UX that makes managing the entire lifecycle far more accessible. A major advantage is the seamless integration with procurement tools like Oracle, ensuring a fluid end to end process. ServiceNow provides out of the box integration with license providers and your local environment, creating full visibility and unifying what you have and what you have purchased in the shortest period of time. This extends to procurement requests originating from project teams through Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), allowing a unified view of what is available in stock versus what needs to be purchased.

This visibility is critical for managing IT onboarding, IT offboarding, and asset ownership. Having real time data on End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS) allows leadership to plan hardware refreshes and software migrations before they become security risks. Furthermore, by enabling auditability, compliance, and reusability, the platform drives significant ROI and provides a clear path for onboarding assets into a sustainable lifecycle. For highly regulated industries, the integration with Integrated Risk Management (IRM) is a massive advantage, linking asset compliance directly to the organization's risk posture.

In Summary ServiceNow ITAM provides a comprehensive ecosystem that turns technical data into a strategic asset. By leveraging the existing CMDB, it empowers organizations to achieve full transparency and fiscal control over their digital estate, regardless of their initial maturity level. It is an Ongoing journey of ensuring the estate is kept complete, compliant, and correct. ServiceNow best practices provide a detailed approach on how to get the quickest time to value, which can be found via Now Create.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

While the platform is incredibly powerful, the initial setup and configuration can be complex, particularly for organizations with low data maturity. Achieving a clean, high fidelity CMDB, which is the prerequisite for ITAM success, requires a significant investment in time and data cleansing. One of the biggest hurdles is the "guesswork" often faced by both implementers and end users when navigating the vast capabilities of the tool. To truly address this gap, there is a clear need for experienced ITAM experts to fully guide the journey. Without high level architectural guidance to define what should come first, organizations can struggle to prioritize the right modules to achieve the quickest time to value.

Maintaining the CMDB is highly challenging in ensuring completeness, compliance, and correctness.

Hardware and Software Asset Management (HAM and SAM) Challenges

HAM and SAM are a great "coat" to ensure the check and balance regularly, but they require a team of skilled professionals to fully maintain data coming from diverse technologies.

On the HAM side, managing the physical lifecycle across Virtual Machines (VMs), on premise hardware, and mobile devices requires constant vigilance to ensure the discovery data matches the financial record. On the SAM side, the complexity increases significantly. Since ITAM manages multiple integrations with diverse software providers, it requires a significant team based effort to verify the correctness of how licenses are read. Navigating various complex license models from Microsoft enterprise agreements to Open Source and specialized SAP or Oracle metrics is not a "set and forget" task. It requires constant collaboration between technical teams and asset managers to ensure the system is interpreting entitlement data accurately against the actual consumed licenses.

Barriers to Entry and UX

The licensing model of the platform itself can also be a barrier for smaller organizations, as the cost of advanced modules can add up quickly. From a UI/UX perspective, while the modern workspaces are a huge improvement, some legacy administrative views still feel disconnected, leading to a steeper learning curve for those who need to go "under the hood" of the configuration.

In Summary

The platform's greatest strength, its depth and customizability, is also its greatest challenge. It requires a clear operating model, a collaborative team effort, and dedicated expertise to remove the ambiguity of the implementation roadmap. It is not just a "plug and play" solution; it is a long term strategic commitment that necessitates expert led guidance to ensure the system is built correctly from day one. It is a good solution, but it requires thorough planning. While it is a journey, the significant returns on investment are absolutely realized if the foundation is laid correctly.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow ITAM solves the fundamental problem of "visibility vs. reality." Many organizations struggle with a lack of a clear governance structure and an operating model, which leads to massive waste in software spend and security risks due to unmanaged hardware. ITAM solves this by creating a disciplined, automated environment for asset oversight and building a strategic journey toward maturity. Before implementation, my clients often operate in a manual, reactive state with zero visibility into their actual estate. By leveraging the CMDB as the single source of truth, especially for those already using ITSM and ITOM, we eliminate the guesswork. This allows for a 360 degree view where we can map complex licensing, specifically for SAP, Microsoft, and Oracle, against real world installations.

Hardware and Software Asset Management (HAM and SAM) Solutions

On the SAM side, the platform provides the critical "check and balance" by reconciling installed quantities against purchased entitlements. By having the CMDB details in place, such as the exact quantity of hardware and the software installed inside a server, as well as the number of endpoints and their resident software—we move from "audit panic" to being constantly audit ready. This data provides clear direction that helps you make actionable decisions to either procure, dispose, or reuse licenses in the shortest period of time.

On the HAM side, a major benefit is the integration with procurement tools like Oracle and project management through SPM. This allows us to see exactly what is available in stock versus what truly needs to be purchased. Instead of reflexive buying, we maximize existing resources first. This is a game changer for IT onboarding and offboarding, as it ensures asset ownership is tracked from day one. By identifying End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS) assets early, we prevent emergency spending and security breaches.

Strategic Risk and Compliance

For highly regulated industries, the integration with IRM means asset compliance is no longer a siloed technical task, but a core part of the organization’s risk posture. The product effectively solves the problem of technical and fiscal "blindness" by providing the framework for a robust operating model. This ensures the digital estate is kept complete, compliant, and correct, leading to the quickest time to value for the business.

  ### 9. Centralized Asset Management Made Easy

Additionally, it makes software license and warranty management much easier, providing better visibility and control over our assets.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The setup can be complex, and some configurations require experienced administrators. A simpler UI would improve the overall experience. Configuring advanced features and integrations required some planning and platform knowledge.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to centralize asset inventory, making lifecycle tracking easier. It solved the problem of scattered asset data, enhancing visibility and control, reducing manual tracking, and simplifying software license and warranty management.

  ### 10. Comprehensive Asset Management but Complex Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammed S. | Infrastructure Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like the centralized asset visibility that ServiceNow IT Asset Management provides, which serves as a single source of truth for all hardware and software assets, eliminating the need for multiple tools and manual tracking. The integration with incident and change management is especially useful as it allows me to quickly access asset details during troubleshooting and helps in understanding dependencies when implementing changes. The automated lifecycle tracking significantly improves efficiency and reduces manual work, adding value to our daily IT operations.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The initial setup and configuration can be complex and time-consuming. Additionally, the UI can feel slightly overwhelming at times due to the number of features and options available. Enhancement in UI simplicity and more out-of-the-box templates for asset workflows could make adoption easier.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to manage IT assets, track hardware and software, and ensure license compliance, which improves efficiency and accuracy. Centralized asset visibility and integration with incident and change management reduce manual effort and streamline operations.

  ### 11. Solid Asset Management Tool That Saves Time and Effort

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hardit S. | Senior Software Engineer 2, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

Before using IT Asset management , our hardware and software inventories lived in different places, and we often relied on outdated spreadsheets. With ServiceNow, everything is in one place and updates automatically. I especially appreciate how easy it is to track the full lifecycle of an asset from procurement all the way to retirement without having to chase people for information.
Another thing I genuinely like is the way it ties into other ServiceNow modules. When an incident comes in, I can quickly see which device is involved, who owns it, and its warranty details. It saves a lot of back‑and‑forth and reduces the guesswork that usually slows support teams down.
Overall, it just helps us stay organized. Instead of wasting time searching for asset details, we can actually focus on fixing issues or planning ahead. That’s the part that stands out the most for me.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The platform is powerful, but that also means the setup and configuration can take a lot of time, especially if you’re not deeply familiar with the ServiceNow ecosystem. Sometimes even small changes require digging through multiple menus or relying on admins who understand the backend better.

Also, the UI, still feels a bit heavy at times. Simple tasks can involve more clicks than you’d hope for, and performance can slow down if there’s a lot of data on the instance.
Overall, it does the job well, but the learning curve and occasional complexity can be frustrating.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management has mainly helped us get control over our asset inventory, which used to be one of the biggest pain points for our team. Earlier, we never had a reliable, single source of truth for hardware and software assets. Things were scattered across spreadsheets, emails, and different tools. That made audits stressful and day‑to‑day issue resolution slower than it needed to be.

With ServiceNow ITAM, we finally have a clear view of what assets we own, where they are, who’s using them, and what state they’re in.

Another big benefit is around compliance. Keeping track of software licenses used to be a manual and error‑prone process. Now the system flags over‑utilized or under‑utilized licenses automatically.

Overall, the biggest benefits for me have been better visibility, reduced manual work, fewer surprises during audits, and smarter decision‑making when it comes to hardware and software spending.

  ### 12. Great tool for complete lifecycle

This ultimately boosts operational efficiency across the board.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management offers a thorough and easy-to-use solution. Still, opportunities exist to make it even better. For instance, improving the ability for users to customize reports could offer more flexibility in creating specific dashboards and reports with minimal effort. Moreover, if some of the complex setup and integration steps were simpler, new users might find it easier to learn the system. Also, advancements in automation, predictive analytics, and AI-driven recommendations could significantly enhance asset utilization and decision-making for organizations.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to manage IT assets inventory, easy to track each and every asset, we take levarage on costing in terms of old and new assets.
This is time saving and ultimately everything is available on your finger tips.

The configuration for managing assets is highly customizable according to our needs, and it simplifies the maintenance of every asset. It's also tailored well for different client approaches to asset management, allowing us to design it according to specific client requirements.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

It costs on a higher side which becomes difficult for certain clients to procure licenses. Due to its cost, it is suited for a large enterprise rather than a small or mid size enterprise. Also, it needs additional licenses to use certain features which comes with an extra cost. It was a bit difficult to configure it from scratch. It needs an expert as it is a bit complex to setup.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to manage client assets easily, tracking asset issues and tickets. It's highly customizable for different client needs and simplifies maintenance tasks.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One challenge with ServiceNow IT Asset Management is that the implementation and ongoing maintenance can become complex, especially in large enterprise environments with multiple integrations and data sources. Maintaining clean and accurate asset data requires strong governance and continuous process discipline, otherwise reporting and lifecycle tracking can become unreliable. Some licensing and software asset management capabilities also require significant customization and expertise to fully optimize. In addition, certain workflows and user interfaces can feel overly complicated for occasional users or smaller operational teams. While the platform is very powerful and flexible, maximizing its value often requires substantial time, resources, and platform knowledge.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps solve challenges related to asset visibility, lifecycle tracking, compliance, and inefficient manual processes. Before implementing the platform, asset information was often spread across spreadsheets and disconnected systems, making it difficult to track ownership, inventory, refresh cycles, and software usage accurately. By centralizing asset data and automating workflows, the platform has improved operational efficiency, reduced asset loss, and enabled better decision-making through more reliable reporting and insights. It also helps optimize costs by improving utilization, reducing unnecessary purchases, and supporting compliance with software licensing and audit requirements. Overall, it has created a more scalable and controlled approach to managing enterprise technology assets across the organization.

  ### 16. Flexible and Efficient with Some Setup Challenges

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like the ease of maintenance and the elasticity of the products that connect into IT Asset Management. I also appreciate the enablement of CSDM journeys. Asset records having business meaning across the offerings make the system much more cohesive.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I find managing a large landscape of assets with ServiceNow IT Asset Management can become technically cumbersome. Handling multiple asset types, service mappings, and CSDM journeys requires niche skills. Also, configuring spokes for bespoke software during the initial setup wasn't easy.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management solves accuracy issues with non-discoverable assets. I like the ease of maintenance, elasticity of products, and that asset records have business meaning across offerings, which enables CSDM journeys.

  ### 17. Comprehensive Asset Tracking with a Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like having a source of truth for asset tracking with ServiceNow IT Asset Management. It's great being able to kick off workflows around the retirement of devices and during problems. Having a central place for our asset data in a raw and unfiltered manner gives us better information to make decisions from. Using this information for device retirement, replacement, and kicking off break-fix requests allows us to fast-track our request processes. The initial setup of the tables was easy, which is also a plus.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

It takes quite a bit of time to transform and manage data from outside sources. The end result is great, but the journey to get there can be painful. Initial setup of the tables was easy, data transformation was hard but isn't really an issue with the solution more the need to have clean data.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management serves as our true source of record throughout the asset lifecycle, providing history and tracking for end-of-life, enabling informed decision-making, and fast-tracking request processes with a central, unfiltered data repository.

  ### 18. Efficient Asset Management with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael A. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like the ability to integrate ServiceNow IT Asset Management with other components of ServiceNow, specifically the IRM module. This integration is valuable because it allows me to create entities in IRM off of CMDB records, which is invaluable. Additionally, I find the ability to create 'entity types' in IRM based on attribute information in the CMDB makes scoping of risks and controls so much easier and time-efficient.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

There isn't out of the box automation to update IRM entities (which are linked to CMDB assets) as those asset details change in CMDB. For IRM entities created from CMDB assets, those IRM entities (name, description, etc) should be automatically updated as the CMDB changes. Currently, a manual sync is required, which is not practical at scale.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management centralizes asset inventory and integrates with other components, like the IRM module, making risk and control scoping easier and more time-efficient.

  ### 19. Good visibility of my estate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

As an executive sponsor, I look for capabilities that deliver clarity, control, and measurable financial impact—and ServiceNow Asset Management delivers on all three. It gives us a single, authoritative view of our asset landscape, enabling us to track, manage, and optimize assets across their full lifecycle.

What I value most is the visibility it provides into both hardware and software. With accurate, real-time data, we’re able to make stronger investment decisions, reduce waste, and stay compliant with licensing and regulatory requirements. That translates directly into cost savings and risk reduction—two priorities that matter at the executive level.

ServiceNow Asset Management also reinforces operational discipline by standardizing processes across departments. It reduces inefficiencies created by fragmented systems and manual tracking, while supporting tighter alignment between IT, finance, and procurement.

Just as important, it helps us operate more proactively. Rather than reacting to asset issues, we can anticipate needs, optimize utilization, and plan more strategically for future growth.

Overall, ServiceNow Asset Management isn’t simply about tracking assets—it’s about maximizing their value, reducing risk, and giving the organization the insight it needs to operate more intelligently.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I can’t really think of anything specific to add, but I don’t get involved in the details.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is giveinv me good clear visibility of what we are managing which helps stop revenue leakage.

  ### 20. Flexible Integrations and Strong Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rocky B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like ServiceNow IT Asset Management because of the platform support and flexibility it offers. I appreciate the ability to use and create integrations with other platforms to deliver information. This is particularly helpful as we use a third-party warehouser for our hardware asset management, and ServiceNow allows me to create a solution to ingest data directly instead of relying on manual requests in the customer portal. The integrations with different platforms like Intune, SCCM, M365, Adobe, and CrowdStrike make the system versatile and valuable to our operations.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The issues I face are more about process and governance than technological platform shortcomings. I need information from internal teams for software asset management. It's very difficult to get them to introduce new processes and workflows to get that info over to me.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management handles hardware lifecycles, provides asset locations for security, and facilitates software license clarity. It supports and integrates with other platforms, allowing direct data ingestion to eliminate manual requests, enhancing efficiency.

  ### 21. Streamlined Asset Management, Minor Complexity Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mirna M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I personally use the reporting and Subscriptions module, powered with the connections to Adobe products and Microsoft. The subscriptions module allows me to report on a daily basis what department within my organization has licenses and who should not have licenses, linked with the user table inactive. We are saving money by not paying for inactive user licenses. The initial setup of ServiceNow IT Asset Management was great.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The complexity of software models is time-consuming, and we don't have enough people feeding data into the system. Not enough people are willing to work in the system. There needs to be more awareness about the product before purchasing, as not many people know about it, making it hard to hire knowledgeable staff.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps us solve issues of not knowing who assets are assigned to. The subscriptions module tracks licenses daily, distinguishing which department holds them and identifying inactive users, saving us money by avoiding payments for unused licenses.

  ### 22. Strong asset lifecycle control with enterprise-grade governance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roy B.

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management provides end-to-end visibility and control across the entire asset lifecycle, from procurement through retirement. The biggest strength is how tightly it integrates with CMDB, ITSM, and procurement workflows, allowing organizations to manage assets in context rather than in isolation.

It helps enforce standardization, improves compliance, and reduces waste by tracking ownership, usage, and lifecycle status in one platform. I also value the automation capabilities around asset onboarding, transfers, and disposals, which reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy. From an architectural standpoint, it aligns well with enterprise governance models and scales effectively across large environments.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The biggest challenge is that the value of ITAM is highly dependent on data quality and process maturity. Without strong governance and consistent lifecycle management, the data can become unreliable. Implementation can also be complex, especially when integrating with multiple discovery sources, procurement systems, and legacy asset repositories.

Licensing and feature segmentation can sometimes make it difficult to fully leverage all capabilities without additional cost. Reporting can also require customization to meet specific business needs, particularly for financial tracking or compliance scenarios.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management addresses the challenge of fragmented and unreliable asset data spread across multiple systems. Without a centralized approach, it becomes hard to track ownership, lifecycle status, and compliance, which can lead to wasted spend, increased audit risk, and day-to-day operational inefficiencies.

By consolidating asset data into a single platform and aligning it with CMDB and ITSM workflows, it delivers clearer, more accurate visibility into what assets exist, where they are located, and how they are being used. This supports better procurement decisions, helps reduce over-purchasing, and strengthens our overall compliance posture.

For us, the biggest benefit is having a trusted system of record that supports lifecycle governance and ties directly into operational processes such as incident, change, and request management. As a result, it improves cost control, keeps us better prepared for audits, and boosts overall operational efficiency.

  ### 23. End to end service management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** arturo g. | IT Service Management (ITSM) Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is how it provides end‑to‑end visibility across the entire asset lifecycle, helping organizations maintain accurate data, improve governance, and make more informed operational and financial decisions. It brings assets, configuration data, and processes together in a single platform, which simplifies compliance, reduces risk, and supports better service delivery.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I like least about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is that it can require a significant amount of upfront effort to configure and maintain accurate data. The value of ITAM is highly dependent on strong governance, clean source data, and consistent processes; without those in place, it’s easy for asset information to become outdated or incomplete. Additionally, the complexity of the module can feel heavy for teams that are early in their asset maturity or lack dedicated ownership.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps solve issues around poor asset visibility, inconsistent data, and weak lifecycle control. This benefits us by improving data accuracy, supporting compliance, and enabling better operational and financial decision‑making across IT.

  ### 24. Streamlined Asset Management with Room for AI Improvements

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like that ServiceNow IT Asset Management centralizes license and asset management, providing visibility into utilization and recovery opportunities. The transition from legacy workflows and solutions to out-of-the-box playbooks is a big advantage. The initial setup was straightforward, and I'm currently integrating it with InTune, M365, and Adobe for better subscription management.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I would like to see more intelligence to help identify potential catalog items or workflows that would be candidates for migration to Asset Management workflows/playbooks. It would be useful to have an AI Agent that could review catalog items related to asset provisioning and recovery, identifying if they are built against Asset Management workflows/playbooks or if a legacy/custom workflow needs optimization. This could help in reducing the technical debt of customization.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management centralizes license and asset management, providing visibility into utilization and recovery opportunities. It helps us move from legacy workflows to out-of-box playbooks.

Service now it asset management its good integration tool. It easily connect with cmdb.
Also it has the feature to track the asset in very accurate.
One of the main advantage is. Automation task to discovery normalisation and for life cycle status.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow IT asset management is a very large tool, and it has lots of features and a wide range of configuration options. If you are deploying it initially, it can take a bit longer to understand what exactly needs to be matched and configured.

Another thing is the licensing.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main advantage of ServiceNow is that it gives me centralized access to all assets in the organization, which ultimately gives us better control over our assets. It also helps me resolve compliance issues. Overall, it provides full control and transparency.

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to keep track of all the IT assets. It's useful for maintaining a clear view of the hardware and software. I find it simplifies asset tracking and improves visibility, which helps in making better decisions about cost and performance. The end-to-end lifecycle management stands out for me; it helps me track an asset from the moment it is requested until its retirement on a single platform. Also, all the data regarding the asset's pricing and history is accessible in one place, which is incredibly convenient. It connects every stage of the asset's journey in a seamless way, from request to procurement, delivery, assignment, maintenance, and eventual retirement, saving a lot of time and resources. I also use this with tools like incident change and request management, which helps us track and fast-track tickets based on priority.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One thing that could be improved would be the initial setup and configuration as in the initial days I found it a little complex to use. It did require a significant amount of time to get used to it, especially with the navigation and the features. The most challenging part for me was to align things with the existing data sources and processes. It is very flexible, but then it makes you take a lot of decisions upfront. One specific case would be data modeling and CMDB alignment, making sure assets configuration and relationships were structured took time.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to track IT assets, simplifying asset tracking and improving visibility. It solves tracking and version issues, provides a single source of truth for licensing compliance, and connects every stage of an asset's lifecycle seamlessly on one platform.

I appreciate that everything is in one place, making it easier to manage licenses. The best part for me is having everything centralized so I don't have to go between multiple spreadsheets, and I like that I can see the entire lifecycle of an asset. Being able to make reports in minutes instead of weeks is nice.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The learning curve I feel like is steep; it seems complex at first until you really learn it. I think the navigation is the biggest thing; there's a lot of nested menus, and it could be a lot better.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to track company devices and software, avoiding unnecessary license purchases. It consolidates everything in one place, showing the asset lifecycle and simplifying reports.

  ### 30. Centralized Asset Management with ITSM Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bonnie L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

The interface for entering information in ServiceNow IT Asset Management is not very user-friendly. Also, accessing and reporting insights on the information could be easier. We tried to manually assess using ServiceNow IT Asset Management for software because we have disparate lists, and it doesn't really cater much to hardware management. The initial setup was okay, but we didn't have good expertise to help us with it.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to inventorize our software and hardware devices, giving a central view of what we have.

  ### 31. ServiceNow ITAM: A Powerful, CSDM-Driven Upgrade from Spreadsheets

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Swati A. | ServiceNow Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

ServiceNow ITAM is widely regarded as a powerhouse for organizations aiming to bridge the gap between their physical assets and their digital workflows. By leveraging the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), it shifts asset management away from a passive, spreadsheet-driven exercise and makes it an active, integrated part of the IT service lifecycle.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

There’s really nothing to dislike about it; as I mentioned earlier, it’s very easy to handle. ServiceNow ITAM is widely regarded as a powerhouse for organizations looking to bridge the gap between their physical assets and their digital workflows. By leveraging the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), it transforms asset management from a passive spreadsheet exercise into an active part of the IT service lifecycle.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very beneficial to me in the following terms, as mentioned earlier. ServiceNow ITAM is widely regarded as a powerhouse for organizations looking to bridge the gap between their physical assets and their digital workflows. By leveraging the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), it transforms asset management from a passive spreadsheet exercise into an active, integrated part of the IT service lifecycle.

  ### 32. Centralized Asset Management with Smooth Workflow Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav J. | SDE II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like having a single reliable view of all assets, which is centralized and tied to users, costs, and workflows, eliminating the need to chase data across tools. I also appreciate how ServiceNow IT Asset Management integrates smoothly with other ServiceNow workflows, with assets directly linked to tickets, making operations and troubleshooting much more efficient. The centralized view helps cut a lot of back-and-forth during audits and internal queries by keeping all asset information, including owner, location, cost, and lifecycle, in one place. The integration with IT service management is really useful for tying incidents or requests to specific assets, which makes troubleshooting faster.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

It's not exactly plug and play. The setup and customization can get heavy and need experienced folks to model everything correctly. So, there is a learning curve to the UI which we feel a bit clunky for simple tasks. UI feels cluttered, common actions take too many clicks and forms show too much by default. The setup process is too complex upfront, a more guided setup, ready-made templates and smarter data import validations would save a lot of time. Not very easy, we had to define the data models, clean and import asset data, and then had to configure the workflows.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management gives us visibility and control over assets, fixing the messiness of manual tracking. It centralizes asset info, linking it to users, costs, and workflows to streamline audits and troubleshooting.

  ### 33. Streamlined IT Asset Management with Powerful Automations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rama Kausik A. | Technical Lead (ITOM), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I love the automation abilities of ServiceNow IT Asset Management, which take out a lot of manual asset management work. I appreciate the integration through Service Graph Connectors, as it seamlessly brings all the required data into CMDB and AMDB without the need to check multiple applications. The discovery capabilities are excellent because the data all sits in one inventory and everything is reconciled properly. Additionally, I automate software reclamation, ensuring that software licenses are managed properly, and any over or under utilization can be easily tracked. The seamless integration with ITSM and SecOps processes also adds significant value for me. Overall, we’ve arrived at a much more reliable asset inventory.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

There are certain applications and device types which are not supported by Discovery, and some cases require high privileges to implement discovery for certain device types. Also, in terms of Hardware asset management, I would like to have barcodes generated, it would be great if ServiceNow had that feature. Finally, I wish there was a way to automate asset ownership, it would make life easier.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management minimizes manual imports, automates software reclamation, and tracks software licenses efficiently. It provides a reliable asset inventory where data sits consolidated. Service Graph Connectors gather necessary data effortlessly, enhancing integration with ITSM and secops processes.

  ### 34. Powerful Asset Management, Complex Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rohit G. | Associate Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I find ServiceNow IT Asset Management impressive for transforming from a passive database into an active participant in business operations. I appreciate its 'Single Source of Truth' feature where Hardware Asset Management and Software Asset Management live on the same platform as the Service Desk, allowing technicians to efficiently manage repairs by seeing warranty status and lease end-dates in the same window. The 'Publisher Packs' for audit defense manage complex licensing for major vendors and are updated in real time, making audits much simpler. Furthermore, its Agentic AI feature proactively manages licenses by reaching out to users about unused software, which can save costs on licenses. The introduction of RaptorDB has significantly improved speed, allowing for real-time inventory management. In short, it automates the boring stuff so IT teams can make strategic financial decisions.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

While ServiceNow ITAM is a powerhouse, it’s far from perfect. If you’re working with it daily, you’ll eventually run into what I call the 'ServiceNow Tax'—the hidden frustrations that come with such a massive platform. 1. The 'Clean Data' Paradox: ServiceNow ITAM is only as good as your CMDB (Configuration Management Database). The tool marketed as the 'solution' to your messy data actually requires your data to be perfectly clean before it works correctly. If your discovery tools are pulling in duplicate serial numbers or inconsistent naming conventions (e.g., 'Win11' vs 'Windows 11'), the ITAM module will generate inaccurate license positions. Improvement Needed: More built-in, automated 'data scrubbing' or 'fuzzy matching' tools to fix messy records without needing manual intervention from a CMDB manager. 2. High TCO (Total Cost of Ownership): The sticker price is just the beginning. Between the high licensing fees ($100+ per user/month) and the need for expensive 'Certified Implementation Partners,' the cost can be eye-watering. Small teams often find themselves 'buying a Ferrari to drive to the grocery store.' Improvement Needed: A 'Lite' version or more transparent, modular pricing for mid-market companies that don’t need the full enterprise engine. 3. The Customization Trap: ServiceNow is famous for being customizable, but this is a double-edged sword. If you customize your ITAM workflows too much to fit your specific company quirks, you often 'break' the upgrade path. When ServiceNow releases a new version (like the recent 2026 updates), heavily customized instances require weeks of manual testing to ensure nothing breaks. Improvement Needed: A more robust 'low-code' framework that allows for deep customization without diverging from the 'Out-of-the-Box' (OOTB) architecture. 4. User Experience (The 'Cluttered' UI): Despite improvements in the Next Experience UI, the platform remains dense. Navigating through dozens of related lists, forms, and tabs to perform a simple task (like retiring a keyboard or checking a warranty) can feel like a chore. The learning curve for a new asset clerk is steep—it’s not 'intuitive' in the way modern SaaS apps like Slack or Notion are. Improvement Needed: A more streamlined, role-based mobile experience that lets field technicians scan and update assets without seeing 50 fields they don’t need. 5. Integration 'Weight': While it integrates with everything, those integrations are 'heavy.' Setting up an integration with a vendor like Dell or a discovery tool like SCCM often requires complex 'IntegrationHub' spokes and mid-server configurations. It’s rarely as simple as a 'one-click' sync. Improvement Needed: Truly 'plug-and-play' connectors for the top 50 hardware and software vendors that don’t require an architect to set up.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management transforms our operations by providing a single platform for managing hardware and software assets, ensuring audit readiness, and utilizing AI for proactive cost savings. It automates asset tracking from request to disposal and enables strategic decision-making.

  ### 35. Finally got control of our assets — wasn't easy but worth it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Interesting - it J. | Server Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The visibility it gives you. Before, nobody really had a clear picture of what assets were out there — now I can pull that up in seconds.

But honestly what I appreciate most is how it ties into everything else. Asset linked to a user, linked to a ticket, linked to a contract. That connected view saves a lot of time and a lot of unnecessary back and forth between teams.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The learning curve is steep. It's not something you just hand to someone and expect them to figure out on their own.

And the implementation time — it took way longer than we were told it would. That's probably my biggest frustration looking back. Just felt like we were always a step behind where we expected to be.

Cost is up there too. You're committing to a significant investment, and if you're not fully utilizing it, that stings a little.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main one is just having control over our assets. Knowing what we have, where it is, who's responsible for it — that alone was worth it.

From a benefits side it's saved us money on licensing because we can actually see what's being used and what isn't. Compliance audits are less stressful. And IT isn't constantly chasing people down for information that should already be documented somewhere.

It's one of those tools where the value isn't always obvious upfront but once it's running properly you don't really want to go back to the old way.

  ### 36. Efficient for mid to large Enterprise, Challenging for Smaller Teams

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like that ServiceNow IT Asset Management provides real-time feedback and automation for endpoint and SAM tracking, making it a great tool for compliance. It really helped us keep track of software assets, including our agreements, especially when dealing with multiple clients and different software, ensuring compliance across the board was maintained.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The pricing was the biggest reason my previous company switched and they went more towards the Kaseya route. Teaching new users was a learning curve that you had to really go over how some of the automation/reporting worked in detail. It took quite awhile to set up but with a month or two the bare bones structure was set up.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to manage equipment life cycles and track information for internal review. It provides real-time feedback and automates endpoint and SAM compliance tracking, helping us maintain software agreements across clients.

  ### 37. Streamlining Asset Management with Strong Visibility and Contro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Basavaraju A. | IT Support Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

admin point of view. Tasks like asset tracking, lifecycle updates, and license management are much easier to handle now, and it cuts down a lot of manual effort. Once things are configured properly, it runs reliably in the background.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

While ServiceNow IT Asset Management is a strong platform overall, there are a few areas that could be improved. From an admin point of view, the initial setup and configuration can be quite complex and time-consuming. Getting everything aligned properly, especially integrations and workflows, often requires deep platform knowledge.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management has helped us solve a major visibility issue we had with tracking assets throughout their lifecycle. Before using it, our asset data was scattered across spreadsheets and different tools, which made it hard to know exactly what we owned, where it was, and who was using it. Now everything is centralized in one place, and I can easily track assets from procurement through to retirement. It’s also improved our compliance and audit readiness. Having accurate, up-to-date records means we’re better prepared for audits and can avoid risks related to software licensing or missing assets. From an admin perspective, this has reduced a lot of stress and last-minute work.

Another big benefit is automation. Tasks like asset updates, lifecycle tracking, and reporting used to be manual and time-consuming. With ServiceNow, many of these processes are streamlined, which saves time and reduces errors.

  ### 38. Great Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manisha V.

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management (ITAM) is that it gives organizations a single, real-time system of record for hardware, software, and cloud assets while automating the entire asset lifecycle from procurement to retirement. That combination of visibility, automation, and governance is extremely valuable for large enterprises managing complex IT environments.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

What I don’t like about ServiceNow IT Asset Management (ITAM) is that, despite being very powerful, it can become complex, data-heavy, and operationally demanding—especially if the organization doesn’t already have strong asset governance and clean data foundations.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management (ITAM) is primarily solving the problem of poor visibility, fragmented tracking, and inefficient control over IT assets across their entire lifecycle—from procurement to retirement. In most enterprises, assets are managed through disconnected tools, spreadsheets, and manual processes, which leads to cost leakage, compliance risk, and operational inefficiency.

  ### 39. Simplified Asset Management with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I love how ServiceNow IT Asset Management integrates seamlessly with CMDB, CSDM, and ITSM, which makes it very effective for managing assets across the organization. It streamlines what can otherwise be a complex process, helping track servers, laptops, and other hardware throughout the full lifecycle—from procurement through to disposal. I also appreciate that it supports accurate data management, which is essential for handling IT assets efficiently.

ServiceNow ITAM also help in Normalisation of IT assets which can be used to standardize the inconsistent asset data. (To update the life cycle information against the assets. (We are currently ServiceNow ITAM and Tanium for Asset Normalisation)

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

For the most part, it’s very efficient, provided we have subject matter experts in the organization. From the ServiceNow side, Agentic AI and the default ITAM agents can be developed and used to manage assets effectively.

Example: Gen AI and Agentic AI can be used to get the asset details from a chatbot, and AI agent can make CRUD operations as per the requirement.
There were many instances where asset administrators had to to CRUD operations manually. With good governance and AI automation, this can be addressed effectively.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to simplify tracking assets such as servers and laptops throughout their lifecycle, from procurement through disposal. It integrates smoothly with CMDB, CSDM, and ITSM, which helps us manage and maintain our organization’s assets more effectively.

It was easier to implement since we have ServiceNow success packs with clear road maps. But the product architectural understanding and coordination across diffence asset teams is necessary to effectively utilize ITAM features and manage enterprises assets.

  ### 40. HAM Pro for ServiceNow

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug F.

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

HAM Pro allows for an easier way to import, track, and manage assets and consumables. Dashboards and workspaces provide most information important to your depot/warehouse for stock levels and ownership, which simplifies fulfillment. Easy integration with other areas within the ServiceNow ecosystem -- ITSM, CSM, FSM, etc.
360 Asset View provides easy view of asset counts and values (total cost). This product also provides 'Important Action' cards that display items requiring attention for Procurement, Contract, and Model Management.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

Some areas, such as modals (UX), may be difficult to customize for your needs -- making fields mandatory upon assignment of consumables, then validating before saving would be an example. Licensing cost may be high, if you're not leveraging all features and capabilities within the ServiceNow platform.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifying stock/cycle count frequencies, delivering faster speeds for asset assignment and deployment.

  ### 41. Powerful IT Asset Management with Complex Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil S. | Technical Support Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I find ServiceNow IT Asset Management to be a powerful and mature solution, especially well-suited for medium and large enterprises. What I like most is the end-to-end visibility it provides into assets across their entire lifecycle, which ensures data is accurate, current, and actionable. I also appreciate the tight integration with the ServiceNow platform. Another strong aspect is the automation of the lifecycle, which helps address the operational challenges and governance issues related to managing IT assets at scale.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One of the main challenges is the complexity of initial setup and configuration. Implementing ITAM effectively, especially software asset management, requires strong ServiceNow platform knowledge and careful planning. The initial setup was moderately complex rather than straightforward, despite the platform being powerful and well-structured. Specific challenges included data migration and cleanup, standardizing asset lifecycle processes, aligning assets with CMDB and ITSM modules, configuring software asset license models and compliance rules, and establishing governance and data ownership.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps solve operational and governance challenges by providing end-to-end visibility, which ensures data is accurate, current, and actionable. It reduces manual, error-prone asset tracking and integrates tightly with the ServiceNow platform. It automates the lifecycle, making asset management more efficient.

  ### 42. Streamlines IT Asset Management with Challenges in Contract Entry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron H. | Senior Systems Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I really like how ServiceNow IT Asset Management helps in normalizing product models and vendor names, giving me visibility into what is owned. Having the correct product models allows us to deploy product offerings quicker to the service catalog. Additionally, the setup was easy, though getting staff used to the new process was a bit harder.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

When our contract data/fields don't match up to ServiceNow, it requires a bit of manual typing to get them into the system. Also, while it's easy to set up, it's harder to get staff used to a new process.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I track all IT enterprise assets for compliance and total cost of ownership. It solves technical debt, compliance, and auditing issues. I like the visibility of owned assets and normalizing product models and vendor names, which helps deploy product offerings quicker to the service catalog.

  ### 43. ITAM Makes Ordering and Picking Up New-Hire Equipment Fast and Hassle-Free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** J Varun S. | Senior Infra Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

So assets like the laptop, desktop, keyboards, mouse, monitors, headphones all these are very essential for a newly onboarded employee and from time to time it gets really confusing and frustrating to use the old methods, I my self in the previous company had to stand in line for hours go from building to building to collect different electronics, there was no proper place or app or a website to order them and wait for the fulfillment now with ITAM it got very easy, you just order from a software or a hardware catalog in SN and the fulfillment team takes care of everything, I just show up to the mentioned building in the email notification and voila there they are. Very time saving, convenient

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

Everything has its flaws, like i mentioned in my previous likes some times a wrongly configured flow that doesn't update the request. Also ITAM is only as good as cmdb data feeding it, sometimes companies turn on discovery without a strict governance which leads to junk records, also this ITAM feels like it needs constant babysitting by Dev's because it requires licensing knowledge, reporting failures

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does solve major issues for one it centralises the tracking of hardware and software lifecycles, it also replaced excel sheets with automated platform to prevent compliance audits and ghost assets. It directly integrates with CMDB and ITSM workflows which is a major plus considering streamlining of asset fulfillment like i mentioned in my first answer

  ### 44. Efficient Asset Management with Initial Setup Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krushi S. | Specialist Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like how everything is in one place and easy to track with ServiceNow IT Asset Management. I don’t have to go through different sheets or systems to find asset details, which saves a lot of time. The visibility it gives into assets and licenses is really helpful. Also, it integrates well with other ServiceNow modules, making the whole process smoother. It helps us avoid losing track of assets and reduces manual work by organizing everything in one place, improving visibility, and helping us stay compliant. Using it along with other ServiceNow modules like Incident and Change Management, and integrating with discovery tools, procurement, or finance systems keeps all the data in sync and reduces manual work.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One thing is it can feel a bit complex at times, especially in the beginning. Some features take time to understand, and the setup/configuration isn’t always very straightforward. Also, reporting could be a bit more flexible, and sometimes it feels like you need extra customization to get exactly what you want.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow IT Asset Management to track our devices and software, reducing manual work and improving asset visibility. It saves time, keeps everything organized in one place, simplifies license management, and helps us stay compliant.

  ### 45. Great Automation with Room for Feature Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like ServiceNow IT Asset Management's SAM reconciliation capabilities and automation of reclamation because it makes it easy to perform activities to reduce wasted spend due to provisioned, yet unused licenses. The technical setup for HAM and SaaS products with SAM is very straightforward, which is great. I also appreciate how ServiceNow IT Asset Management provides visibility, minimizes security risks, maintains asset control, and helps maximize ROI for asset spend.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

HAM Pro does not support hardware model substitutes out of the box when sourcing hardware requests, which is a huge pain point.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage hardware and software assets with ServiceNow IT Asset Management, which gives me visibility, asset control, and reduces security risks. It maximizes ROI by reducing wasted spend on unused licenses. ServiceNow also integrates with other processes unlike Excel which was manual and offered little insight.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I work with ServiceNow IT Asset Management on asset life cycle management, asset tracking, and CMDB integration. I've used it for software analysis, handling license compliance, and usage tracking. It gives complete visibility, ensures compliance, reduces cost, and improves asset utilization through life cycle tracking. CMDB integrations help with better visibility of configuration items and their dependencies, aiding in impact analysis, improving decision making, and reducing downtime. We switched from manual tools to ServiceNow for centralized management and better visibility. Despite the setup being a bit complex initially, once configured, it became a significant advantage.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One challenge is maintaining accurate and up-to-date data and CMDB, which requires a container support. Also, the initial setup can be complex due to configuration and data management. Improving automation and simplifying aggregation would be beneficial.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow IT Asset Management gives me complete visibility, ensures compliance, reduces costs, and improves asset utilization throughout its lifecycle. CMDB integration enhances visibility of dependencies, assists in impact analysis, improves decision-making, and reduces downtime.

**Reviewed by:** Mansi P. | ServiceNow Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I like ServiceNow IT Asset Management because it lets us manage all our assets in one place. We can track each asset from purchase through retirement, cut down on manual work, and keep the data organized and easy to find. It also helps us control costs and makes overall asset tracking much simpler.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

One thing I dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management is that it can feel complex to set up and manage at the beginning. It also depends on having accurate, well-maintained data; otherwise, asset tracking quickly becomes confusing. On top of that, customization and reporting can sometimes take longer than expected.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 50. All-in-One Asset Dashboard with Smart Insights That Save Money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monil D. | Full-stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

I really like how it consolidates all our hardware and software data into a single dashboard, which makes it simple to track assets from purchase through retirement. The automated insights are great as well, since they flag unused licenses and help us save money without having to do manual audits.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?**

The licensing and implementation costs are very high, which can be a major barrier for smaller companies or anyone working with a tight budget. On top of that, it has a steep learning curve and a complex setup, so it often requires dedicated experts to manage and maintain it properly.

**What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**
