"Faster App Building with Smooth Integrations and Clear ROI"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

I love being able to build apps much faster, spend less money on extra software tools, and launch internal solutions quicker than before. With smooth integrations connecting the tools we already use, I spend less time managing disconnected systems. "Fast Workflow Automation with Room for UI Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

I use ServiceNow App Engine to build, automate, and deploy workflow applications in a very fast and secure way. I like that the App Engine apps automatically generate dashboards and analytics, which is really helpful. The combination of low-code speed, enterprise governance, and AI-powered app generation makes it unique and powerful for building workflow apps quickly and safely. I especially liked Rapid Prototyping the most. It lets me quickly turn a messy, manual process into a digital workflow without a long waiting cycle. I can build minimal viable workflows like forms, tables, workflows, logic, and UI in hours. The initial setup was very easy for building the first app. The ServiceNow App Engine becomes more valuable when used alongside integration tools, ERP/CRM systems, automation platforms, and collaboration tools like MS Teams and Slack. I would highly recommend it with a score of 9/10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth, User-Friendly Ticketing with Custom Dashboards and Motivating Badges"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

I use ServiceNow to log errors and submit tickets quickly, especially when I need to request access-related items. Overall, the UI/UX feels smooth and user-friendly, and it’s straightforward for new employees to pick up. As a result, we don’t have to train people on ServiceNow the way we used to with our traditional in-house software. I also like that we can build custom dashboards, which makes it much easier to track task progress and stay on top of what’s moving forward. One of my favorite features in ServiceNow is the in-app training it offers, particularly when it was first introduced in our organization. the most fascinating thing is the badges it provides in profile section. we love to compare each other badges and look at it gives joy and motivation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

The left-side menu is quite confusing for all of us because it includes too many items that we don’t use in daily work. We end up having to scroll all the way down just to open the menu and then search again for the submenus under it. It would be helpful to have an option to remove unused items and customize the menu and sidebar so the most relevant sections are easier to find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Low-Code Platform for Everyday Workflows"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

It makes building apps more easier, even for people who don't know much about coding. It also helps get rid of messy Excel files and long email chains by keeping everything in one place. Things like requests and approvals can be automated, which saves time and reduces manual work. It works well on both desktop and mobile so it's easy to use from anywhere. Another plus is that security and data protection are already built in, so IT teams don't have to worry as much. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

It can feel overwhelming at first because there are so many features and settings. the platform is good overall, but it took me some time to get comfortable with all the features. "Strong workflow capabilities but still needs improvement"
2.5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

What impressed me most was the ability to build workflow-based internal apps relatively quickly while still maintaining structure and governance. ServiceNow App Engine felt particularly strong for processes like request handling, approvals, task tracking, and cross-team handoffs. I appreciated that it wasn't just a basic low-code builder but part of a broader enterprise platform with built-in automation and reporting capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

The main downside I noticed was the complexity. ServiceNow App Engine seemed very capable, but also somewhat heavy for smaller or simpler workflow needs. During evaluation, it felt like getting the most value from it would require dedicated platform knowledge, clear governance, and careful planning around integrations and app design. It may not be the best fit for teams looking for a quick, lightweight low-code tool without much setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Workflow Automation, Steep Learning Curve"
4/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

What I like most about ServiceNow App Engine is how easy it is to build and customize applications without extensive coding. The workflow automation capabilities save time and reduce manual effort, and the platform integrates well with other systems. It also has a user-friendly interface and makes it easier to manage and scale internal processes. Workflow automation delivers the greatest value to our team. By automatically routing tasks, approvals, and notifications, it reduces manual effort, helps avoid delays, and minimizes errors. Instead of spending time tracking requests or following up manually, the team can focus on higher-value work. It improved overall efficiency and made day-to-day operations more streamlined and predictable. I built an internal request and approval workflow for handling operational and support-related tasks. Earlier, requests were managed manually through emails and messages, which made tracking difficult and caused delays. With App Engine, we created a centralized application where users could submit requests, route approvals automatically, track status, and receive notifications. This reduced manual follow-ups, improved visibility across the team, and shortened turnaround time. Using the App Engine interface along with integration capabilities, we built a centralized request portal and integrated notifications and approval flows into a single workflow. Because everything was visible in one place and status updates happened automatically, the team spent less time coordinating manually and more time completing actual work. The integrations with collaboration tools, monitoring and reporting platforms, and internal business systems made processes smoother and reduced context switching between multiple applications. The initial setup was fairly straightforward for getting basic workflows and applications up and running, especially because of the low-code approach and available templates, and the onboarding experience was smooth. It worked well for managing workflows across multiple teams and supported scaling processes efficiently as usage grew. Overall it provides solid value and improves operational efficiency once implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

One area I think could be improved in ServiceNow App Engine is the learning curve for advanced customization and configuration. While basic app building is straightforward, creating more complex workflows or integrations sometimes requires deeper platform knowledge and can take time to set up correctly. The interface is generally user-friendly, but navigating multiple modules and configuration options can occasionally feel overwhelming for new users. Performance during large-scale customizations and reporting could also be more streamlined. Setting up more advanced configurations, integrations, and custom workflows required additional learning and planning, and getting the most value from the platform took some time and hands-on experience. What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

The best part about ServiceNow App Engine is its combination of rapid low-code development with enterprise-grade scalability and governance.Key advantages that stand out:Speed of Deployment: Build and deploy apps quickly using drag-and-drop workflow tools with minimal custom coding. No Scalability Limits: Unlike purely lightweight alternatives, it transitions seamlessly from simple workflows to complex, pro-code solutions.Built-in Governance: Security policies, access controls, and compliance are baked in by default, rather than added as afterthoughts.Native Platform Integration: Apps instantly connect to existing data, workflows, and AI agents within the broader ServiceNow ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

ServiceNow App Engine criticisms center on its high licensing costs, steep learning curve for advanced features, and architectural misuse leading to platform fragmentation.Cost & LicensingHigh Financial Barrier: Licensing costs are steep, limiting accessibility for smaller organizations or smaller departmental projects.Opaque Pricing: Users frequently cite a lack of transparency in how the platform is priced and scaled as their user base grows.Platform & GovernanceFragmented Architecture: App Engine is often used to bypass native domain modeling, resulting in duplicate task tables, inconsistent security rules, and overlapping workflows.Reinventing the Wheel: Teams often use it to build custom solutions from scratch, ignoring existing native modules (e.g., ITSM, HRSD), leading to confused end-users and reporting gaps.Platform Bloat: Implementing highly customized or complex workflows can complicate maintenance, making future upgrades more difficult.Usability & DevelopmentSteep Learning Curve: Despite being marketed as a low-code tool, utilizing advanced features, data models, and custom logic requires significant training and technical expertise.Low-Code Limitations: When developers attempt to implement advanced functionalities, the low-code tools often feel too restrictive, forcing them to pivot entirely to traditional scripting.Cluttered UI/UX: The interface can occasionally feel overwhelming or confusing for new developers trying to navigate multiple settings and modules.
