  ### 4. ServiceNow App Engine Supercharged Our Workflow Automation and Low-Code App Delivery

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arkajit D. | Chief Technology Officer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I like best about ServiceNow App Engine is how it allows teams to build and automate business applications quickly without requiring extensive custom development from scratch. The low-code approach made it much easier for our teams to digitize internal workflows and replace several manual processes that were previously handled through emails, spreadsheets, and disconnected tools.

One of the biggest advantages for us has been workflow automation and process standardization. We were able to create custom operational applications for approvals, service requests, and internal tracking workflows while still keeping everything connected within the broader ServiceNow ecosystem.

The platform’s integration capabilities are another strong point. Since many of our ITSM and operational processes already existed within ServiceNow, App Engine helped extend those workflows into other departments without introducing multiple standalone systems.

Another feature that stood out was centralized governance and security. IT teams maintained visibility and control while business teams still had flexibility to build workflow-driven applications more efficiently.

Overall, ServiceNow App Engine helped improve operational efficiency, reduce manual administrative work, and accelerate internal application development across multiple business functions.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One of the main challenges with ServiceNow App Engine is that while the platform promotes low-code development, more advanced customizations and complex workflows still require experienced ServiceNow developers or technical resources to implement properly.

We also found that the initial setup, governance planning, and application architecture required more effort than expected, especially when scaling workflows across multiple departments and integrating with existing enterprise systems.

Performance was generally stable, but highly customized applications and large workflows occasionally required optimization to maintain responsiveness and usability across teams.

Licensing and scaling costs can also become a consideration for organizations building multiple applications or expanding usage across broader business units.

The user interface is functional overall, but some configuration and administrative experiences still feel more IT-focused rather than fully business-user-friendly.

That said, once governance standards and development practices were properly established, the platform became much more effective for workflow automation and internal application development. Most of our concerns were related more to implementation complexity and scalability planning than the platform’s core capabilities.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine helped us solve several challenges related to manual business processes, disconnected internal workflows, and slow application development across departments.

Before implementing the platform, many operational requests, approvals, and tracking processes were handled through emails, spreadsheets, and standalone tools. This created delays, inconsistent workflows, limited visibility, and a large amount of manual administrative work for both business and IT teams.

One of the biggest problems was the time required to build and deploy internal applications using traditional development approaches. With App Engine, we were able to create workflow-driven applications much faster using a low-code model while still maintaining governance and security standards within the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Another major benefit has been workflow automation. Repetitive tasks such as approvals, employee requests, operational tracking, and service coordination became much more streamlined, which reduced manual effort and improved response times significantly.

The integration with existing ServiceNow ITSM and operational processes was also valuable because it allowed teams to extend workflows without introducing multiple disconnected systems.

From a business perspective, ServiceNow App Engine helped accelerate internal application development, improve operational efficiency, reduce manual coordination, and create more scalable and transparent workflow management across the organization.

  ### 5. Makes Workflow Automation More Accessible.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madeline'T.Y P. | Senior Staff Design Engineer, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The best part is that it works very fast. I can create small apps for my team members without any complicated code. Its drag & drop system proves to be very easy for us. This saves me time and I can focus on other tasks. It’s great when work gets done quickly. Its overall workflow is very clean and provides a seamless experience. I can change and automate how the whole operation gets done on its own. The previous system was very confusing but here everything is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I dislike about ServiceNow App Engine is that every time an update comes out, everything changes. My old apps infrastructure gets all distorted and I have to re tweak them all. I thought I would build it once and it would work, but every month there's a new problem to keep an eye on the amendments.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem it solves is communication. Before, people would email me and it make it hard for me to keep a track of all the ongoing operations and queries. Now I keep everything in one place in App Engine. Every request is tracked and I can see who wants what. This has reduced my mistakes and I'm more productive. The addition of new tools also gives us the confidence and the required infrastructure to test out all of our codes.

  ### 6. Helped Us Clear a Long App Backlog Fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul J. | Programme Manager and Delivery Manager at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I really like is how quickly our teams can put together internal apps without waiting on a full dev cycle every time. As a programme manager juggling multiple workstreams, that speed matters a lot. The drag and drop builder is genuinely usable by people who aren't hardcore developers, and it still plugs nicely into the wider ServiceNow platform so we're not creating another disconnected tool. Workflow automation has cut down a fair bit of manual follow-up that used to eat into my week. It's also reassuring from a governance point of view since it sits within our existing ITSM setup, so security and change management don't become an afterthought.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The licensing and pricing model is honestly a bit confusing to explain to stakeholders, especially when we're trying to scale usage across teams and need to justify the cost. Performance can also lag when the apps get more complex, particularly with heavier workflows or larger data volumes, and it's not always obvious why. The learning curve is steeper than ServiceNow markets it as too, our citizen developers can build simple things fine but anything with real logic or integrations still needs someone who knows the platform properly. Documentation for some of the more advanced features feels thin, so we've ended up relying on trial and error more than I would like .

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to have a real backlog problem where every small internal request, approval forms, tracking tools, simple workflow apps, had to go through the central dev team and queue up behind bigger priorities. App Engine has let us push a lot of that work out to the business teams themselves, so requests that used to sit for weeks now get built and live in days. As a programme manager, that's freed up my core dev resources to focus on the larger platform initiatives instead of getting pulled into one-off app requests. It's also given us better visibility across the programme since everything sits on one platform rather than scattered spreadsheets and shadow IT tools different teams built on their own.

  ### 7. Streamlined Our Workflows with Powerful Automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** vignesh m. | admin, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like ServiceNow App Engine's workflow automation capability. It makes it easy to automate approvals, notifications, and task routing without building everything from scratch. It saves time by automating repetitive tasks, reduces manual effort, and gives better visibility into the status of requests and workflows. The initial setup was easy with the support from the solution engineer.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I think the low-code capabilities are good, but more complex workflows still require scripting. I feel the user interface for designing applications could be more intuitive for new users. The application designer can feel cluttered when working on larger applications. Finding specific tables, flows, or components sometimes takes multiple clicks, and navigation between related objects isn't always straightforward. I would like a cleaner layout, better search, and easier navigation between forms, workflows, and data models to improve the development experience.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to build custom business apps and automate workflows, solving manual process issues. It centralizes requests and improves visibility, saving time and reducing manual effort.

  ### 8. Effortless Automation, Needs Improved Stability

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zain I. | GoHighLevel agency admin consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to automate work for my clients, and I love how it makes complex work simple by converting it into organized workflows. It's great for reducing manual work, and since no coding is needed, everyone can create workflows easily, which saves a lot of time and energy. The platform is reliable and trustworthy, even someone not tech-savvy can build workflows with minimal guidance. I also find that the workflow setup is extremely user-friendly; I can add as many actions as needed according to my business requirements, which is awesome.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One thing I noticed is that when we make a heavy workflow with a lot of actions and triggers, it creates a loop and doesn't work well. I found that when I recreate the same workflow, it starts working. This is something that should be improved. Additionally, there should be a more accurate AI assistant that can build a workflow for us with just a prompt.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to automate workflows and customize applications for clients, reducing manual work and simplifying complex tasks. It's easy to use, requires no coding, and saves time and energy.

I use ServiceNow to log errors and submit tickets quickly, especially when I need to request access-related items. Overall, the UI/UX feels smooth and user-friendly, and it’s straightforward for new employees to pick up. As a result, we don’t have to train people on ServiceNow the way we used to with our traditional in-house software. I also like that we can build custom dashboards, which makes it much easier to track task progress and stay on top of what’s moving forward. One of my favorite features in ServiceNow is the in-app training it offers, particularly when it was first introduced in our organization. the most fascinating thing is the badges it provides in profile section. we love to compare each other badges and look at it gives joy and motivation

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The left-side menu is quite confusing for all of us because it includes too many items that we don’t use in daily work. We end up having to scroll all the way down just to open the menu and then search again for the submenus under it. It would be helpful to have an option to remove unused items and customize the menu and sidebar so the most relevant sections are easier to find.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to solve the problem of logging tickets and informing other employees about their tasks when they are assigned. This way, we don’t have to take one-on-one updates, because it’s easier to track progress and status directly in ServiceNow. It also helps employees feel more comfortable, and the company report is generated quite accurately.

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I like most about ServiceNow App Engine is how easy it is to build and customize applications without extensive coding. The workflow automation capabilities save time and reduce manual effort, and the platform integrates well with other systems. It also has a user-friendly interface and makes it easier to manage and scale internal processes. Workflow automation delivers the greatest value to our team. By automatically routing tasks, approvals, and notifications, it reduces manual effort, helps avoid delays, and minimizes errors. Instead of spending time tracking requests or following up manually, the team can focus on higher-value work. It improved overall efficiency and made day-to-day operations more streamlined and predictable. I built an internal request and approval workflow for handling operational and support-related tasks. Earlier, requests were managed manually through emails and messages, which made tracking difficult and caused delays. With App Engine, we created a centralized application where users could submit requests, route approvals automatically, track status, and receive notifications. This reduced manual follow-ups, improved visibility across the team, and shortened turnaround time. Using the App Engine interface along with integration capabilities, we built a centralized request portal and integrated notifications and approval flows into a single workflow. Because everything was visible in one place and status updates happened automatically, the team spent less time coordinating manually and more time completing actual work. The integrations with collaboration tools, monitoring and reporting platforms, and internal business systems made processes smoother and reduced context switching between multiple applications. The initial setup was fairly straightforward for getting basic workflows and applications up and running, especially because of the low-code approach and available templates, and the onboarding experience was smooth. It worked well for managing workflows across multiple teams and supported scaling processes efficiently as usage grew. Overall it provides solid value and improves operational efficiency once implemented.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One area I think could be improved in ServiceNow App Engine is the learning curve for advanced customization and configuration. **Reviewed by:** Sainath N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like the readiness of ServiceNow App Engine and how quickly apps are usage ready. The scoped applications feature and strong security measures are also aspects I appreciate. It's beneficial that it solves business use cases effectively. The initial setup was pretty smooth, and having access to advanced features with the App Engine is a clear advantage over the native way we used to build scoped apps.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I find that ServiceNow App Engine is missing the capability to show all the related artifacts in one place, which means users need to visit multiple places to find them. There's also missing functionality for building user-related screens using in-house UI builder capabilities, as it always builds in React, which is not ideal. Additionally, the app should be more intuitive for citizen developers because understanding the scoping in ServiceNow can be difficult.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine for building apps, but it lacks consolidated artifact views and intuitive scoping. It benefits us by ensuring apps are quickly usage-ready, addressing scoped application needs, enhancing security, and solving business use cases.

  ### 34. Streamlined Workflow, Minor UI Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishwanath V. | Platform Support Analyst (Data Engineer), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I really like is the Flow Designer – it's honestly a total game-changer for someone like me. Instead of writing 100 lines of code for an approval, I just drag a 'Manager Approval' block and connect it. It saves us days of work and bug-fixing. It's very intuitive to really see the logic moving from 'Security check-in' to 'Manager approval' on a screen. Another big plus is the mobile app support. Our security guys and floor managers, who are always moving around, don’t need to sit at desks. Being able to just scan a QR code or 'Approve' a gate pass from their phone makes the whole process actually work in real life, not just on paper. Plus, the pre-built templates are handy. You don’t have to start from a blank screen every time. You pick a template that's 70% there, tweak the last 30%, and you're done. It allows us to focus more on actual business logic rather than worrying about the backend or server stuff.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The biggest pain point for me is defining the UI Builder. Honestly, it's just too complex. You think you're just adding a simple button or a field, but then you have to deal with all these events and data sources just to make it work. It's not as drag and drop as they show in the demo videos, you know? Sometimes I feel I could have just coded faster in CSS/HTML especially with ChatGPT or Gemini in place. Another thing is the Licensing model. For a mid-sized team or a small use case like our gate pass app, the cost per 'Subscription Unit' feels quite high. It's hard to justify to the higher-ups why we're paying so much for a simple tracker. Also, the documentation could be better, if you're stuck on a specific error in a flow the official docs are sometimes too generic. You end up spending hours on developer forums or YouTube just to find a simple fix. If they could make the error messages human-readable it would save a lot of debugging time. I think they have to make the developer experience more simplified for these low-code tools. Right now, if you get a small error in the background the whole flow just stops and the error logs are super confusing to read. It shouldn't feel like you need to be a senior architect just to fix a simple validation. And honestly, if they could just offer a Lite version of the licensing for small internal apps like our gate pass tracker and laptop tracker it would be much easier to get more teams on board. Right now we have to think ten times before starting a new project because of the cost.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine helps us build 'gap-filling' apps quickly, eliminating paper trails for visitor tracking and approvals, saving us days in coding and debugging with its Flow Designer, and facilitates mobile access, which keeps everything synced and efficient.

  ### 35. Reliable Ticketing System with Minor Improvement Needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas A. | Service Desk Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I enjoy ServiceNow App Engine's user-friendly UI and fast speed; I rarely experience slowdown. It's also very predictable and stable. I like that the ticketing system allows us to create templates for similar tickets, which is really useful. We can create parent tickets for outages, and when those are resolved, the child tickets automatically get closed, which I find very convenient. The ability to look up users by first or last name using the * symbol is a feature I appreciate. I also like that we can put tickets on hold for follow-ups and see the time since the last follow-up. The Incident Dashboard my manager designed gives pie charts and graphs relating to our tickets, and I enjoy it. Additionally, I use the Knowledge Base for articles, which is helpful. The initial setup was very straightforward with little training needed.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

Occasionally it asks for superfluous details in tickets that are required. I wish that tickets are allowed to be saved without every detail. I also sometimes notice that users are hard to locate if the 'Company' field is set to the wrong company.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine keeps us organized, helps determine user roles, categorizes tickets appropriately, and allows template creation for common tickets. It also offers parent-child ticketing for outages and tracks follow-ups effectively.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The ease of how it works. You can create anything you want. You come up with the idea and it can almost build it completely for you, even if you are not a seasoned expert. You can quickly build integrations and UIs and you it doesn't collide with anything else, performance wise.

ServiceNow is on the expensive side if you only look at the price itself. If you look at what you can do with it, it's cheap. Support isn't the best, because ServiceNow doesn't support custom code/apps. But when you use the AI capabilities, you don't need support. It just works.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

You can't rely on just the AI yet. Especially because you are building enterprise apps. AI gets a lot of things done, but if you are only vide coding, you will run into issues for sure.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's fast and easy to use. You don't need deep ServiceNow knowledge to use it. Step by step you can build your apps and when you are done, it actually works. Logic and UI/UX are build together.

We use custom properties to control AI prediction logic, improving accuracy and avoiding incorrect predictions. The initial setup was quite easy, and the App Engine Studio is user-friendly, so it didn't take much time to start building applications.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I noticed when I was trying to create an app in my personal PDI, I got a few errors like 'this scope has been taken by another app,' which made me unable to create a new app. One improvement I would like to suggest is better handling of scope conflicts. I think it would be helpful if the app engine could suggest or auto-generate unique scope names while creating apps, instead of throwing errors. Also, giving clearer guidance or alternatives when a conflict happens would make the process smoother and save time.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to automate workflows, manage cases efficiently, and reduce errors. It handles customer support and order cases, creating solutions without much code, which boosts productivity. It addresses issues like manual work, slow processes, and scattered data.

The integration of flow and data availability is also very helpful in managing workflows efficiently. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy, with clear explanations.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I will say the only thing I can say to provide more advanced tools for UI customizations. For UI we sometimes use other software which are pretty advanced in design, but replicating the same thing in ServiceNow App Engine is a pretty hectic task.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine makes application management efficient and accelerates app delivery, maintaining standards. It integrates flow and data, aiding in tasks like scheduling and notifications, and supports AI/ML for smart decisions and productivity. Everything's centralized, simplifying my workflow.

**Reviewed by:** sudheer k. | technical analyst 3, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to create custom apps, automate approvals and tasks, and improve process visibility across teams. I like its low code approach, workflow automation, and the ability to quickly create scalable business applications. The low code development saves time, the workflow automation reduces manual effort, and scalable apps let us support more processes and users without rebuilding everything. It's a solid platform for building applications and automating processes.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I could be improved by making advanced customization and integrations easier and by simplifying the learning process curve for new users. Clearer documentation guided configuration and better beginner friendly tutorials would improve both advanced setup and the learning experience for new users. The initial setup was relatively easy for basic use but advanced configuration took more effort.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to create custom apps, automate tasks, and improve visibility. It solves process inefficiency, delays, and lack of visibility by automating workflows and centralizing our processes.

  ### 41. Empowering Business Users with Low-Code Solutions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Umesh B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I love that ServiceNow App Engine allows business users with minimal coding skills to design apps using drag-and-drop interfaces and templates. It lets both business users and developers build apps quickly, reducing time-to-market. This capability accelerates innovation by enabling business users to design apps without waiting on IT, directly addressing the bottleneck many organizations face with overloaded IT teams. The initial setup was relatively easy because it relies on the existing ServiceNow platform, with most of the work focused on configuring permissions and governance rather than the technical installation. The ServiceNow App Engine also provided us with a unified platform with governance, automation, and enterprise-grade security, making the transition from our previous system worthwhile.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The learning curve for complex apps can be challenging. The cost and licensing aspects are also a concern. I find performance and usability issues, along with customization limits. Governance overhead and integration complexity add to the difficulties.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine for building apps quickly with low-code tools, reducing time-to-market. It allows business users to design apps without relying on IT, easing bottlenecks. Moving from spreadsheets, it offers a unified platform with governance and automation, improving integration and security.

  ### 42. Guided, Visual Development That Streamlines Building Apps in One Place

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vamsikrishna C. | Associate Technical Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I like most about ServiceNow App Engine Studio, compared with building applications in the traditional ServiceNow Platform interface, is the more guided and visual development experience it offers. Rather than manually creating tables, modules, forms, and scripts across different areas of the platform, App Engine Studio lets developers design the entire application in one place through a step-by-step flow supported by visual tools. It streamlines work such as building data models, workflows, and user experiences, making development faster, more organized, and easier to manage—especially when you’re putting together complete business applications.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One thing I dislike about ServiceNow App Engine Studio is that, although it streamlines application development with a guided, visual approach, it can feel restrictive when the requirements are complex or highly customized. In many situations, developers still have to switch back to the traditional ServiceNow Platform interface to handle advanced scripting, configurations, or deeper customizations. That context switching interrupts the workflow and makes the overall process less efficient when you’re building more complex enterprise applications that need detailed control over the platform.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine solves the problem of slow and complex enterprise application development by providing a low-code platform where applications, workflows, and data models can be created quickly in one place. Traditionally, building business applications required multiple tools, extensive coding, and long development cycles. With App Engine, organizations can rapidly build custom applications, automate processes, and integrate them with existing systems on the ServiceNow Platform. This benefits me as a developer because it significantly reduces development time, simplifies automation through visual tools, and allows me to focus more on solving business problems rather than spending time on repetitive development tasks.

  ### 43. The Ultimate Support Accelerator

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

In my opinion, ServiceNow App Engine makes deployment very simple by offering a structured platform with the majority of developer tools already in place. Because basic tasks like establishing data models, forms, and processes can be completed fast with little coding, App Engine Studio's visual environment makes it easier to design apps, increasing developers' overall frequency of usage. Additionally, Flow Designer is a great tool for efficiently and clearly automating business processes. Furthermore, the platform facilitates seamless interaction with other systems.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One drawback I have found with App Engine is that handling various configurations gets more difficult as applications get bigger. It can take some time to determine where a certain logic is applied when there are several scripts, processes, and policies involved. Debugging might be slowed considerably when troubleshooting necessitates examining multiple platform components.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my experience, App Engine helps solve the problem of developing enterprise applications quickly while maintaining a structured environment. Instead of building systems completely from scratch, the platform provides reusable components and automation capabilities. This allows me to focus more on business logic and less on basic infrastructure. As a result, development cycles are shorter, processes become more automated, and it is easier to deliver applications that support business operations efficiently.

  ### 44. Efficient Low-Code Platform with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** chipilla s. | software developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like the low-code/no-code capability of ServiceNow App Engine, which makes application development quick and easy. The workflow automation and integration features are very powerful and save a lot of time. It also provides a user-friendly interface for building and managing applications. These features help me quickly build applications without heavy coding, saving time and effort. Workflow automation reduces manual tasks and improves efficiency. Integrations make it easy to connect with other systems, making the overall solution more powerful and seamless.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

Sometimes customization beyond low-code requires scripting, which can be complex for beginners. Performance can slow down with heavy workflows or large data. Also, better documentation and easier debugging would improve the overall experience.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to automate workflows, manage requests, and streamline business processes, reducing manual work and delays. The low-code features enable quick app development, improving efficiency and minimizing errors.

  ### 45. Kills internal tooling backlogs so devs can focus on core engineering.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

It actually bridges the gap between chaos and control. Business teams get to build their own workflows visually without waiting months on IT, but because it’s locked down with solid guardrails, it doesn't create a security nightmare. It turns a massive bottleneck into a quick afternoon project.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The licensing costs are brutal, if we build a simple tool for the whole company, the per-user fees skyrocket. Plus, the moment we step outside the basic templates, we still need a specialized ServiceNow developer to write platform-specific code.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It kills the endless backlog of internal tooling requests. Instead of engineering getting bogged down building minor CRUD apps or basic approval workflows for business ops, those teams can build them themselves. The benefit? It keeps my plate clear for core product engineering and deep architecture work, rather than handling simple automation Jira tickets.

  ### 46. Seamless App Customization with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** zachary c.

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like using the ServiceNow App Engine for creating custom applications and editing both custom and out-of-the-box apps. It's got a nice interface to configure all the components that are involved in a custom app. I love that everything can be found in one place, so I don't have to waste time finding records or configurations. Also, it offers great visibility into every part of the application, which is really helpful. Plus, the initial setup was pretty easy, making it convenient to get started.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I think more code visibility would be cool. A better IDE-like experience would be useful.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ServiceNow App Engine offers a nice interface for configuring everything needed for custom apps, saving me from wasting time searching for records or configurations.

  ### 47. Easy Low-Code Development with Advanced Customization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Punnareddy p. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

Low-code development with advanced customization is easy to build.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The application has a lot of features, which adds complexity. While building, it sometimes feels somewhat clumsy and not as smooth as I’d expect.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development is fast, even within a short span of time, and the low-code approach gives us very flexible implementations.

  ### 48. End-to-End Development Made Easy, But Lacks Git Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I really like how the ServiceNow App Engine allows me to do all development work in one place, so I don't have to keep moving to different pages. It provides a real end-to-end development experience by keeping everything together. The Code Search function is a standout feature because it helps me solve issues quickly by easily finding where a problem might be. It's built-in and easy to use, so I don't need to rely on a custom code search function. The setup was easy too, as it's native and ready to use right away.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

UI can be slow in larger projects. No good GIT integrations. Working simultaneously with many developers in the same app can be difficult. Using Update Sets to move because Apps can only be deployed at once with all features which may not be fully developed or tested. Finding a solution to replace Update Sets as they are very manual and not automated. Finding a solution to allow deployment of many simultaneous developments.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to consolidate all development work in one place, avoiding the need to switch between pages. It also allows me to quickly view all configurations and perform end-to-end development seamlessly.

  ### 49. Effortless App Building with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan D. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I really like how the ServiceNow App Engine provides a good foundation for apps, making them easy to configure. It's very easy to use, and it aligns well with the foundation data that we already have in ServiceNow. Also, instead of building applications from the ground up, I really appreciate having access to previously built applications, which makes creating proofs of concept or demos so much easier. Everything works well with it!

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

Some difficulty with the pipeline but everything else was seamless

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I build applications quickly for non-IT areas. ServiceNow App Engine provides a solid foundation for apps, making configuration easy. It's straightforward to use and aligns with our existing ServiceNow data, simplifying proofs of concept by using previously built applications.

  ### 50. Empowers Custom Solutions Quickly with Room for Deployment Improvements

**Reviewed by:** Scott R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like the ServiceNow App Engine for its ease of use and the reach of its integrations. I also appreciate the capability it provides to quickly enable people to create simple solutions without needing to know the details of the code. Additionally, the initial setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I find the rigidity of our deployments and the flow problematic. It could be improved by how Release ops uses playbooks and configs to allow gates of either human or automated approvals and reviews.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ServiceNow App Engine to build custom apps for gaps in our portfolio. It automates org-specific workflows for different groups. I like the ease of creating simple solutions without coding knowledge and its wide range of integrations.
