ServerCrate is privacy-first, zero-knowledge offsite backup hosting built on the open Restic format, served over an authenticated REST endpoint. Designed for sysadmins, DevOps teams, developers, and homelab operators who need encrypted offsite backup without trusting a third party with plaintext data. Repositories are encrypted on the client before upload. Your encryption password never reaches ServerCrate's infrastructure by design, so we cannot read, decrypt, or be compelled to produce your data. Each customer's data lives in an isolated ZFS dataset, with replication to a separate NVMe pool for redundancy. Key differentiators: • Native Restic compatibility , no proprietary tooling, full repository portability • Per-user ZFS vault isolation • Open Restic format over REST , scriptable, no lock-in, restore or migrate anytime with standard Restic • Flat pricing, no egress fees, no bandwidth caps • Bitcoin payment via self-hosted BTCPay for privacy-conscious billing • External restore verification , real restores are tested continuously, not assumed • Public infrastructure transparency via status.servercrate.net Free tier (10GB) with no credit card required. Paid plans from $5/mo (Starter) to $79/mo (Business: 5TB, 15 devices, 180-day retention).
