It is very easy to implement as the user interface is very easy and user-friendly. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** There is no dislike as such as of now, as it's best in this segment of monitoring. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everything is automated, everything is user friendly and the setup of dashboards and the alerts we receive is so consistent and did not have any issues with sematext. We would love to continue with Sematext and will be using Sematext in the future. The monitoring part is so unique and good. Many of our clients love the feature which Sematext is giving to us. The Sematext Synthetics feature is amazing as it automatically checks the health checks. The metrics and Dashboard creation are quite good, and you also get an option to view the status dashboard via the custom domain. which is very unique and impressive as they are giving at such a nominal price. You also have a feature as bulk upload, where if you have many workloads to monitor you can do it seamlessly rather than doing it manually. This allows us to remotely monitor if, and how often, key pages in our sites are being returned as cached. As high speed pages are an absolute mandatory these days, this is a killer feature for us, and one we didn't find elsewhere in our research. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** The interface for the monitors has a few quirks from a UX point of view - it takes 1-2 clicks more than it needs to to edit configurations. I also use middle click on my browser a million times a day to open links in a new browser tab - this should be possible on Edit Configuration links within the monitor screen, so I can open all monitors, edit them, and save/close as I go. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** We monitor speed, critical errors, and caching state across dozens of sites and pages. We send notifications via email and also via webhooks to 3rd parties. The operational visibility and alerting have been very valuable and a source of confidence **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** The only downside so far has been the non existance of a Windows version of the performanc exporter. That wasnt a real issue becuase we have Linux nodes available **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Overall performance monitoring of our SOLR production cluster had been a "build ourselves" approach with the Solr exporter. The switch to Sematext removed the need to for those tools. The performance monitoring and alerting is complete and reliable. Also engaging with Sematext support on issues including infrastructure desgin and application design has been extremly uselfull. The live support chat is quick to respond and keeps me updated about what's going on with my issues, which rarely seems anywhere else. I think that the price for their infrastructure monitoring is very fair and I love the integration with different platforms for alerting. Their UI is very modern and simple which is the main reason that I moved to Sematext and the alerts are extremely customisable. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** The main downside I see with Sematext is that sometimes the features you wouldn't expect to be pricey are. I think that $50 monthly as a starting price for 1GB/day of logs is quite high especially given their free forever plan is 500MB/day with the exact same retention period. I also think that live chat support should be something accessible to active users not just for the higher plans, the only reason I think this is because when I was having some issues getting set up with one of the features it said there is 0 support for the product on the tier I was using which left me confused and considering finding other organisations that offer the same but with support. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sematext allows my organisation to easily display our infrastructure's hardware usage in an easy-to-read and understand way; Sematext also enables me to create alerts for even the smallest things and their anomaly detection is very useful for things that we otherwise wouldn't be able to predict will happen. It is easy to grasp and understand thanks to the well-explained documentation (with basic computer knowledge, of course). The data monitoring for any platform is really easy to understand and very helpful. Even with the Basic data plan, the results are sufficient to decide whether you need to upgrade your plan or not. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** One downside is that if you need to pause your app for more than 31 days, it will be deleted, which can be inconvenient for use cases where activity isn't continuous. There is little to no information about app deletion after 31 days of inactivity, meaning you would have to recreate the app from scratch if you pause it for various reasons. An option to save the app configuration and filters, essentially the app's "skeleton," would be helpful, as this does not include the retention of data received, which is determined by the data plan. If saving the app isn't possible, at least a warning email could be sent to notify the user that the inactive interface will be deleted if there is no activity in the next few days, such as 7 days before the expiration date. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1st app: Sematext assists in obtaining data from an Android application "used on the field," which aids in retrieving logs from these devices remotely. 2nd app: It assists in obtaining data/logs from embedded devices that cannot do so independently, by connecting these devices to a Raspberry Pi and sending the data through Sematext, which is very helpful! **Official Response from Otis Gospodnetic:** > Thank you for your review and your feedback + suggestions. Some alternatives of sematext surprise you at the end of the month with a huge bill, sematext does not! **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** The sys admins disliked some dependencies (node, java) that needed to be installed on the servers to install the agents. Whereas I cannot really judge the situation (not a sys admin by myself), I think it would be much easier to just have a compiled binary (maybe written in rust) without much dependencies. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it to analyse logs. The chart and log filtering features are very helpful. Not having many metrics allows us to focus on the essentials. The automatic RUM experience urls integrated into the tool and the ease of integrating the script are very efficient. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** There are a lot of metrics, and sometimes it's confusing with all the datas configuration (dashboards, alerts rules, monitoring Browser/monitoring HTTP...). It does that perfectly well, filtering and searching works great. It was easy to setup (using logagent as our forwarder). We use alerts based on certain messages to alert our DevOps team of potential incidents. We use a few dashboards for viewing the frequency of certain logs based on filters. From a price point of view, it is great for us as our logging demands are not high. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** It would be great if it had smart detection of the most common phrases or messages in within logs. When you have a lot of logs, the UI is very jumpy to scroll through. It cuts logs from the view when you view a large range at once. It provides real-time anomaly detection whenever there is a drastic deviation in log counts. Sematext support is incredibly responsive as well, typically responding same day to requests! Sematext's team responds quickly and constructively. **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** It wasn't obvious how to configure the log-based reports for Solr, however Sematext's support team was quick to help and get us going. **Recommendations to others considering Sematext Cloud:** For organizations seeking a comprehensive solution for monitoring Solr or Elastic, I recommend short-listing Sematext and piloting it. It's a great solution for this use case. We haven't used it for general infrastructure monitoring / APM outside of Solr, but my impression is that it would be a strong contender there as well. **What problems is Sematext Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our engineering team is new to managing Solr at scale and Sematext provides helpful metrics and detailed event log analytics to diagnose performance problems. Sematext allowed us confirm a set of slow queries, which led to a change in our query logic. It's fantastic! **What do you dislike about Sematext Cloud?** There is a bit of work to do on the mobile side. There is no apps for it and the panel is not responsive.
