I'm a new hire and user of Select Star. It's enabled me to more quickly onboard and become better familiarized with our data. In my previous org, we had a custom internal tool that served a similar purpose but was way more basic -- just a searchable catalog of tables. Select Star contains that functionality on top of giving insights into data lineages, joins, and usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's slightly buggy and slow here and there but not in a way that significantly detracts from my experience using the product. It would also be awesome if we were able to see table snippets or insights into row coverage / distinct values, like is available in Snowsight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Select Star offers a highly detailed column/field-level lineage feature that enables precise tracking of data origins and transformations. This capability is particularly beneficial for data teams where analysts/engineers frequently edit tables and fields, as it helps track the potential impact of future changes on downstream processes.

With the ability to integrate various visualization tools, Select Star offers the association of dashboards with tables in the data warehouse. There is a certain learning curve for maximizing its advanced features e.g. ERDs or lineage visualization. Enhanced documentation or use morecases could help mitigate these challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

you can catolog all datasources and dashboards, and easily track the unused and most used ones. So, you can plan deprecation and focus on which ones take more traction and need your attention.

1. I think that the ai-bot still needs a lot of improvent - not able to anwer many question, but to guide you, so that you answer by yourself

2. some easy fixes that could help faster set-up, ie add mass labeling in dashboards

3. not so much added value if you can develop something custom on your own Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
