What do you like best about Securly Filter?

Features that stand out are;

1. Weekly parent reports - Where parents can receive reports on their child.

2. Securly home app - School can enable a setting where parents can be block sites for when they are at home. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Securly Filter?

Few things I do not like about securly are as follows:

1. Filtering: Securly works great when it works, but the majority of the time, it doesn't. The block rate is extremely low! We are constantly having to check on classroom management software to see what sites they are going to so we can block it in the Global Deny list. And there are some sites it just can't block, and we have to change the host file to achieve that.

2. Support: We have had Securly for about three years now. Some tickets have not been resolved for about two years. For example, if parents want to block a site at home, they have to make sure the session has ended (from school) for the blocking to work.

3. SmartPacs: SmartPacs don't really work that great, therefore, the issue with the filtering I mentioned earlier.

4. IPv6: I am having to disable IPv6 in our network because securly filtering is constantly having issues with IPv6. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Securly Filter:

Securly is great when it works, but unfortunately, it hasn't worked well for us. The Core functionality securly advertisers don't always work. Issues that get sent to the development doesn't get addressed in a timely manner. We have issues that haven't been resolved for about two years. I like securly as a company, but I wish I could say the same for their product. If you are a k-12 education, I highly recommend looking into other options. As an IT administrator who is vested on students safely and success, I cannot recommend securly unless there is a significant improvement on securly's ability to filter and their support team to take our concerns seriously.
