Also the variety of underlays are helpful. The scribble maps support team is fairly responsive even though they are only contactable by email. (and maybe chat but I never used that). No auto save. In my case, this is a custom map of a specific region. This allows me to overlay this on the real world map and combine those features with all my custom map imagery. Adding custom markers, labels and other small details, allow you to finetune your own maps. **What do you dislike about Scribble Maps?** The interface could be improved for mobile devices, especially when opening markers with custom content, which would exceed the viewer window of the mobile device. But really, that is a really small detail. These maps are incredibly powerful and work incredibly well! **Recommendations to others considering Scribble Maps:** The combination of being highly configurable and customizable with a user-friendly interface, for both editing and viewing, really makes this product unique. **What problems is Scribble Maps solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding a tool to make custom maps is hard. Finding one that is easy to set up and user-friendly to use, is extremely hard. But Scribble Maps definitely meets these requirements! Everything has been very well thought through and works flawlessly. I like that it does not show all the local points of interest or restaurants like google maps - that tends to make maps look cluttered. I also liked that you can directly save the map as a PNG versus having to screenshot the map. I also liked that I did not have to have prior experience to use this. **What do you dislike about Scribble Maps?** I wish the image quality was a bit higher. I want to download close view aerials for my presentations but it gets a bit blurry. I also wish that there were more features on the map regarding to existing addresses and businesses. If it listed all of the businesses and properties on the map as well that would be helpful. **Recommendations to others considering Scribble Maps:** I would recommend increasing the image quality of frozen PNG images in the maps. **What problems is Scribble Maps solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to create professional looking and personalized maps for my companies presentations. I had originally tried to use Google Maps and then google earth but found it too hard to use google earth. Google maps - could not produce the maps I wanted - specifically highlighting arial images of land sites. So I found scribble maps and was very impressed with how easy I was able to use it with no tutorial or instruction. Truly great that I did not need to sit through 20 mintues of youtube tutorials just so that I could possibly make a map that might look good on google. Given the complexity of the program, I think that the monthly rate is reasonable. I recommend giving yourself some time when you first start to really familiarize yourself with the program. They also have a number of videos on YouTube which I found to be very helpful when I was starting out. The autosave feature does not always seem to work correctly, so I would recommend saving manually throughout the creation process to ensure that you do not lose any of your work. **What problems is Scribble Maps solving and how is that benefiting you?** Until finding Scribble Maps, I had been unable to find another program that would allow me to create what I was attempting to create. Being able to create and print vicinity apps with ease has made marketing our commercial properties much easier. We used Scribble Maps to map where the projects were located and where the dumpsters were. This allowed coordinators to quickly see the best routes to take and how to best redeploy volunteers when projects were completed. Next year we will be utilizing the API to have individual maps for individual coordinators and have pins appear, disappear, or change color based on status. My group researched 10+ map making tools and Scribble Maps was the winner, hands down. This tool also impressed me with its ability to source from other available internet maps. We were able to show stakeholders traffic via the traffic map view, or the terrain in upstate NY easily. Being able to switch between these maps gave us a way to give our stakeholders a smart view of the map we were exploring. **What do you dislike about Scribble Maps?** I don't particularly like that you can't change the color of symbols and lines once they are made. I am unsure if that is because I didn't know how to use the tool properly, but I think adding an easy feature to color change would make this tool faster to use. Another feature that I did not like was the downloading method for the map. I wanted more pixels but with different dimensions, and the image downloading options did not seem very flexible for that. I wished that importing pictures for "zoom bubble" type of imagery would have been easier as well. **Recommendations to others considering Scribble Maps:** I think this is the perfect tool for someone who needs an easy way to create a map with a group and as a team. It is flexible, constantly updating, and even has saving reminders and pauses for when data is being merged. This makes for a perfect and easy way for users and team members to work together at the same time in different places. My team of 6 was working on this map on a weekly basis and every week we would work on it at the same time. The goal was to create a trunkline along I-90 and see what transit systems were available along this route and then hand draw a map overlay of all of these systems. You can work outside the program and then log back in to 'scribble' your route. Unlike most mapping programs, using the scribble feature shows you where to go, not just where you've been. Plus it is feature rich with easy to learn tricks. **What do you dislike about Scribble Maps?** I have been struggling since the start to get the map I have created to load into my phone. My phone is my GPS device when traveling, using a GPX viewer to keep track of my position. Over the years I have had better luck with doing this task but it should not be so difficult to accomplish. The vendor has been nothing but helpful in answering my questions to get this very non-tech savvy user over this glitch. A huge part of the problem is I simply do not use the program often enough. Typically only map a route out once or twice a year and upon completion struggle with the "how did I do this last time?" **What problems is Scribble Maps solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem I solve is finding routes that do not use 'conventional' roads or trails. I ride a motorcycle off-road and need to know how to get to the next fuel stop often using washes or mountain passes normally not navigated. I had some issues when I and my partner attempted to save at the same time, some work was lost and it did become a small annoyance although it wasn't too much of a big deal. Another problem that occurred sometimes was due to the fact that some of the tools (specifically the vector tool) changed color or size for some reason too often. It would be great if that bug could be fixed. If you're looking for something to use for mapping then I would heavily recommend Scribble Maps Pro. **What problems is Scribble Maps solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm utilizing this for a project in my 282 CS class, it's very useful for labeling maps and finding the coordinates. Exporting as geoJSON is also very useful. I was looking for a product like this for my project. I was stressed out when I wasn't able to find a product exactly like this and the fact that I can also import other file types is extremely useful. ### 41. Also have a "DAY Count" feature. This would split up the lets say 50 accounts i've selected into routes starting from "home" for 3 days. We have some things planned that will directly address some of the issues you have. However, there might be a work around in the mean time that works for you. If you go to operations > Bullk > add to group > markers in polygon you can shift all the points in the polygon into a new folder. Once in the folder you can bulk change their style, see the count (the number next to the folder name) and run route optimizations. For lots of points what we have seen people do is organize points into folders to make their daily trips. That said, this isn't good enough for us. So in the future the plan is to have a lasso tool where you can just quickly select a bunch of points and then do a variety of different options on the fly without even needing to open up the operations panel. ### 46. Believe it or not Scribble Maps is pretty old and at one point we had all of that. We had an internal chat, we had map rankings etc.. What we found though is that for various reasons they were not used as much as we wanted them to be and so we spent a lot of time on the community features and it was distracting us from just making maps easier. So we decided to instead to facilitate sharing more than an internal community. When you save a map there is a "share URL link" you can use that to share to facebook and twitter and on twitter it is interactive.
