"On its own ScreenPal appears to be no better than the old Screencast-o-matic"
2.5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

It works as advertised and it is easy to use. But on its own, locally running ScreenPal appears to offer no features over and above what I had with Screencast-o-matic Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

No local AI capabilities. Couldn't see any mention about hosted AI capabilities that would help make my video editing tasks go faster or more efficiently such as auto removing my many 'ums', 'ahs', 'so', etc. Removing low level noise automatically such as when I breathe in deeply when I'm about to speak. Auto speeding up 2+ second delays into a 1-second delay, etc. This is the vast majority of my edits.

I also dislike that the install of ScreenPal auto-removed my existing install of Screencast-o-matic without asking my permission first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I am a teacher that uses this WITH MY STUDENTS and I use this AS A STUDENT myself!"
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

I have trouble remediating areas of weakness for my students that I teach. I use ScreenPal to record video tutorials that they can play over and over to themselves as I don't have the time to repeat myself. This is especially useful when I include captions for my English Language Learners. I can't teach without it. Have been a proud and devoted user since 2017. As for me as a night student at a technical college, I use it to watch and rewatch important key parts of Zoom lectures using the screen recorder feature. I am an auditory learner. Many times I just let the online lectures replay as I am cleaning my house. I need to see and hear some things again and again just like my own classroom students. What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

I have no complaints. I just need to find the time to complete the different free trainings to enhance my videos that I create. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Long time User"
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

I have been using this software since it was called "Screencast-O-Matic" and I have to say it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY throughout my business and career. It is so simple and straightforward to use that I'd highly recommend it to anyone. The Support is also WAY above industry standards that you see these days. Truly there is no need to look elsewhere, this will work for you, no matter what type of machine you use (personally I am a Mac user, but also used to use it on a PC). What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

None. Seriously. It's a fantastic system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best for video hosting"
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

Their hosting platform is surprisingly unknown, but compared to other platforms, it is affordable and the features are really competitive. I love the new name, too. Screencast-O-Matic was a lot. Easier to recommend as ScreenPal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

Nothing! They are always making updates and introducing new things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good but could be great...but instead, just good"
3.5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

Ease of use with capturing video, ability to edit post-production, low cost for basic paid accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

The accuracy of the captioning tool is HORRIBLE....I mean, really, really horrible and inaccurate. I'm better off starting from scratch and typing captions in instead of editing what it "thought" I said - which is time-consuming and really unacceptable. Even with careful enunciation, and slow pacing, it is painfully bad. In this era of A.I., and with Google now owning ScreenPal, they MUST be able to do better?! A second, equally challenging situation is where the videos "live" once they are done. I have several videos that I have the link to, but I can't find them in my account. They aren't in my content area, and they aren't in my editing area....they are MIA but since I copied the link to them while they were uploading and being published, I have access to them. But honestly, this situation where your videos are hosted in different areas of the cloud platform is ridiculous...why should I have to look around to find my content? Other tools don't work like this and streamlining the storage and access should be a priority. I should have one dashboard, where all my content lives, and have access to everything in one spot....end of story. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Video creator for Teachers of any level."
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

The ability to add a video anywhere there is a text box. There is even one of the icons in the corner of this text box that I could make and drop a video here. You can show the screen and add your face or not. Best way to show HOW to do something out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

Right now it doesn't integrate with Blackboard (ultra) to create an assignment using the questions ability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ScreenPal is AWESOME!!"
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

Like I said, "ScreenPal is AWESOME!!" I've been using the service for over a decade and have produced many personal and company videos. There are several "best" features with ScreenPal there are several ways to produce videos for quick use or updatable, long term use. The "storyboard" and "script" processes make creating a simple or very complex video easy and most usefull. Being able to create segments of a video gives a producer room to create, modify and change the production in an on-going basis. Most important, the segments can be moved around and modified as needed. I usually write the script in segments, record the VO, then add music. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

My only complaint is that sometimes, when an update is ready, transferring "stock" media to the editor fails until the main program has updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ScreenPal delivers a new way to easily capture attention in emails!"
5/5
What do you like best about ScreenPal?

ScreenPal's video from within Gmail has changed the way I reach out to prospects and associates! Instead of text, a short video with the GIF intro feature seems way more intriguing a way to get attention. I think sending a video is also a way to say "I'm not just pitching my real estate media solution to you, I'm demonstrating the effectiveness of media right here!"

ScreenPal is easy to use because it automatically attaches your video recording with an eye-catching window in the email message. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ScreenPal?

Nothing to really complain about. But...there are features for tracking views of the video that are available in other implementations of video (attaching a link instead of the active video that launches from the email message). It would be a nice feature to be able to see that a message was opened and viewed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
