It's straightforward to set up; you just download the program, and you're ready to start. The editing tool is something I like a lot too because it's easy to complete. One of the issues I've had with Screencastify is that it's technologically a little bit above some of the pieces of equipment I have at the public school setting. We don't get new equipment very often, so we're using old versions of different software and technology. I've also had issues using it with older equipment like the box slot in my Boxlight, which is hard to use with Screencastify, leading me to use an older computer for compatibility. I like that it is a very simple tool. The extension makes it very quick to record a screencast. I am able to do some editing after the fact, but I rarely need to. One of my favorite features is that I can immediately publish to YouTube. This makes it super simple for me to put my training videos onto YouTube so that I can refer to them later. I have also tried doing some editing, and when I preview it, I don't see everything in the preview window. It gets frozen on a screen, but the audio keeps playing. I often need to make screencasts of tools to share with the teachers and students at my school. By using Screencastify, I can quickly create these and publish them to YouTube so that my audience has quick access. It is very easy to start recording a video and afterwards to share a direct video link. What do you dislike about Screencastify? The downside of Screencastify is that you cannot easily save videos. This means that you always require an internet connection in order to see the video. Screencastify is an amazing simple tool that will enhance the way you communicate at work. Instead of writing long emails, reports or documentation, messages are sent faster and more clearly with an on-screen video. It has been used by account managers, sales teams and marketers and the truth is that it has a very attractive interface, easy to use, and optimal management can be achieved as days go by. Any issues we've always had are due to user error, like the webcam is not installed or plugged in. The only thing we wish they improved upon is the 5 minute recording limit. Screencastify has allowed me to give more one on one help during class and be more of a facilitator and assistant. this would not be possible without Screencastify, as it has really helped me get the most out of the 45 instructional minutes that I have with students every day. I like how user-friendly the extension is; you can literally download it and be ready to have your first Screencast uploaded 10 minutes later. The free account provides 50 gratis recordings a month. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get the recording that you want, so it'd be nice if the ones that you immediately deleted did not count against your quota. Also, it would be nice if there was a way to quickly end the video when you wanted to cease recording. Instead of teaching a mini-lesson during class when most students struggle to pay attention or might be absent, I can upload the lesson itself demoing how to do a close reading, compose a particular type of writing, how to search a database for information where students can access the resource at any time, from anywhere and see it as many times as needed. Screencastify allows you to record one tab or the entire desktop and includes useful editing tools like markers and highlighters to help when recording a tutorial. It is used with Chrome and you don't need to install heavy programs on your computer, which is wonderful for computers without many resources or for those who don't want to install too many programs. In this case, you will receive an online product that directly hosts recordings on drive, where you can annotate things live, highlight areas, write, erase, etc. It is undoubtedly a great tool for live recordings, offering a free plan (which is sufficient for the vast majority of situations) and a paid plan, which is moderately cheap, meaning it's not expensive at all. What I don't like are the brush, pencil, or marker tools, because they are very pixelated and create a very bad impression when passing something recorded with annotations to someone else.
