I can easily message parents, send updates, and even share reminders without worrying about whether it’ll actually reach them. It helps me stay connected with families in real time, which is huge, especially when I need to quickly address behavior, celebrate a student, or give a quick academic update. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** Sometimes the notifications aren’t as reliable as I’d like. I’ve had moments where I sent something important and wasn’t sure if parents actually saw it right away, which kind of defeats the purpose of quick communication. Along with that, not all parents consistently respond through the platform, and we can't tell exactly which parents have interacted, so I still end up using multiple ways to reach people. The interface could also be smoother. It’s not terrible, but there are times where it feels a little clunky or takes extra clicks to do something simple, especially when you’re in a rush during the school day. And when you’re juggling a full classroom, those extra seconds matter. It also makes it easy for parents to contact us, and for us to stay in touch with parents as well. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** It doesn’t update properly when I’m using it in the browser. Overall, it hasn’t been reliable or consistently working throughout the year. It’s also not easy to upload pictures and documents as supporting documentation for students. On top of that, it feels too easy for items to be removed or deleted from students’ information. It’s also difficult to access the dates and times for when parents were contacted or when they sent messages. Sending messages now takes too many steps. When making a broadcast, you have to go through the entire list of faculty to find your name, then all classes that you taught in order to begin a broadcast. It is quite time-consuming because you have to go through that process every single time. For example, the Emergency contact might be starred as a favorite, but the 2nd parent isn't starred. Therefore, the information going out in a group message will go to the Emergency contact and not both parents. I would like to be able to run reports for groups of students and it is on one report. The student card cannot be printed at this time. Being able to check any student's schedule at any time. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** Courses were not always updated or cleaned up if students changed any part of his/her schedule. Phone numbers were also not always the same as what eschool showed. For example, the student, parent, other parent numbers were often the same. I didn't actually know who I was texting or calling. You cannot expand the email window to be able to see more than a couple lines at a time when you are typing. I usually ended up just sending mass emails through Google Classroom instead. **Recommendations to others considering SchoolStatus:** Make sure it is fully compatible with your district software. Try it on your phone as well before deciding if you like it. Show parents and students how to use it and what to expect when they receive School Status notifications so that they do not just delete them. Make sure parent/guardian/student phone numbers are accurate and up to date so that messages are not going to random numbers. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a case manager for ELLs, I am able to better document communication, as well as, how often my students' other teachers are communicating home. As far as the phone number accuracy (and schedules), that is not information that originates from SchoolStatus, it originates from your Student Information System but we agree and believe that we can provide some better guidance for teachers and administrators to reach out to families via email (less likely to change) or through letters home, on a monthly or semester basis to ask families to alert the district if any of their contact information has changed.
