As a developer, the last thing I want to spend time on is auth plumbing. SSO and SCIM provisioning for enterprise customers are genuinely complex to get right the edge cases are endless, the standards are dense, and the moment you start building it in-house you realise you've quietly signed up for a months-long maintenance burden that has nothing to do with your actual product. Scalekit was the most developer-friendly solution we found for offloading exactly that problem. Scalekit solved the problem of managing enterprise SSO in a scalable way instead of handling SSO separately for each customer, we were able to standardise authentication and provisioning across the platform. That standardisation is the core value proposition and it holds up in practice. One integration, one set of abstractions, and enterprise customers can connect their IdP of choice without us having to build custom connectors for each one. On the performance side Scalekit holds up well for what it promises — the authentication flows are fast, token issuance is low latency, and SSO redirects complete cleanly without the sluggishness that poorly implemented OAuth flows can introduce into login experiences. For enterprise customers where login speed is quietly a trust signal, that baseline performance matters more than it gets credit for. Their documentation is clear and SDKs are lightweight it felt more like collaborating with a product team than just using a vendor. That's not a throwaway line. Good documentation for an auth library is rare enough to be worth specifically calling out, and Scalekit's is genuinely usable without having to constantly cross-reference RFCs or dig through GitHub issues to understand what's actually happening under the hood. The support responsiveness is the other standout. The team was quick to release SDK updates based on our feedback, which as a developer integrating a third-party library is the kind of relationship that makes you feel like a design partner rather than just a ticket number. When we hit an edge case in the Go SDK around token handling, the turnaround on a fix was faster than internal tickets I've filed on my own codebase. Their webhook system helped accelerate our enterprise onboarding and reduced our engineering overhead for auth provisioning and deprovisioning events flowing automatically into our user management layer without us having to poll or reconcile manually was the specific integration detail that saved the most engineering time end to end. Scalekit's MCP server lets AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT securely access tools using OAuth 2.1 and scoped permissions, built for real-time agent workflows with support for SSE, modular tool registration, and full compatibility with MCP clients. That infrastructure layer is where the AI intelligence story starts not intelligence in the sense of the platform making smart decisions autonomously, but intelligence in the sense of giving AI agents a secure, standards-compliant way to authenticate and act within defined permission boundaries. The platform secures both sides of agentic flows incoming authentication and outgoing agent actions and while we're primarily using SSO and SCIM today, the roadmap toward agent identity and MCP tooling is clearly where the platform is heading, which gives us confidence that what we're investing in now extends naturally into where our product needs to go. The mixed experience comes from a few places that surfaced once we moved from initial integration into production support and edge case territory. SCIM provisioning coverage is solid for the major identity providers, Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace but gets thinner as you move toward less common enterprise IdPs. We had one enterprise customer running a niche on-premise directory and the SCIM sync behaviour required more manual intervention and custom handling than the standard integration path suggested it would. The documentation for those edge cases didn't exist yet and support, while responsive, was working through it alongside us rather than from a known playbook. The admin dashboard for managing enterprise connections is functional but not polished enough for the level of visibility we'd want during active enterprise onboarding. Diagnosing a failed SSO connection or a SCIM sync issue requires more log digging than a cleaner interface would demand and when an enterprise customer is waiting on the other end of an onboarding call, that friction is noticeable. The Go SDK allowed us to manage tokens and claims cleanly but SDK parity across languages isn't complete yet. If your stack isn't JavaScript, TypeScript, or Go, expect to do more manual work or wait for SDK coverage to catch up with your language of choice. For teams in less common backend languages the out-of-the-box experience is meaningfully different from what the documentation implies. Pricing transparency is limited. There's no clearly published tier structure that maps features to costs, which makes internal budget conversations harder than they need to be and adds unnecessary friction to procurement discussions with finance teams. Multi-tenant configuration management, handling a large number of enterprise customer connections with different IdP setups, different SCIM behaviours, and different attribute mappings gets harder to reason about and manage from the dashboard as the customer count grows. What problems is Scalekit solving and how is that benefiting you? For years, software focused on blocking bots, but now, business apps must let authenticated agents and enterprise users in and decide exactly what data they can read or write. For us the immediate problem was simpler, we needed to ship enterprise SSO and SCIM without dedicating two engineers to it for three months. Developers get to focus on AI features while Scalekit handles the identity plumbing that keeps agents both powerful and contained and that division of labour is exactly right. Auth is infrastructure, not a differentiator, and every week spent building or maintaining it in-house is a week not spent on the product capabilities that actually move the business forward. Since integrating Scalekit our enterprise onboarding time for SSO setup dropped significantly, provisioning and deprovisioning became automatic rather than manually triggered, and we haven't had to touch the core auth integration despite adding three new enterprise customers with different IdP configurations. That stability and abstraction is the return on investment that's hardest to quantify on a spreadsheet but most visible in how the engineering team spends its time. Bottom line: Scalekit is the right call for any development team that needs to ship enterprise-grade SSO and SCIM without building and maintaining it from scratch. The developer experience is genuinely good, the support is unusually responsive for an early-stage product, and the underlying abstractions are sound. Go in knowing that edge cases and less common IdPs will require more manual handling than the standard path, and that the admin tooling needs another year of polish before it handles enterprise scale without friction.
